Guide To Lying Flat And Getting Rich As A Kept Alpha - Chapter 42
42
The next morning, Luo Hetu didn’t get out of bed again.
She sprawled on the large bed in Cheng Youqing’s bedroom, watching her alluring figure move gracefully toward the bathroom. After washing up, Cheng Youqing emerged wrapped in a bathrobe and headed to the adjacent walk-in closet. After some time, she returned to the bedroom dressed in an elegant, sophisticated outfit with impeccable makeup, her clear beauty instantly transforming into something breathtakingly glamorous.
Luo Hetu stared at her, her voice muffled as she said, “You know, I lost my parents when I was young.”
Cheng Youqing: ?
“Do Alphas have to be this exhausted every day? Do you know any good doctors who can tell me what to watch out for or what supplements to take? Why is it that you’re the one clinging to me and crying at night, yet you’re still the one full of energy in the morning? I don’t want to keep lying here like a fish with its insides gutted.”
Cheng Youqing fell silent for a moment, then pulled out her already-upgraded phone and tapped a few times.
“I’ve sent you Zhou Chenghuan’s number.”
Luo Hetu mumbled a soft, “Okay,” her voice sweet and sticky.
Cheng Youqing leaned over the bed to look at her. “Kisses don’t help anymore?”
Luo Hetu gazed at her face, her ears quietly turning red. “Why don’t you try and see?”
A few minutes later, Luo Hetu was left lying on the bed with a bright red lipstick mark, staring blankly into space.
Life was just too hard. How was she supposed to hold her ground like this?
She didn’t know what the consequences would be, but she had a gut feeling that if she let herself fall headlong into loving Cheng Youqing, her fate would likely be tragic.
What right did she have?
After lying there for a while and catching up on some sleep, she finally got up, washed, ate breakfast, and returned to her room to call Zhou Chenghuan.
As a doctor, Zhou Chenghuan was usually quite busy. When she received Luo Hetu’s call, she said she’d call back later but couldn’t resist adding, “Why don’t you come to the hospital so we can talk in person? I can check how your body’s recovering after your differentiation.”
Luo Hetu thought it made sense. It was her first time differentiating, after all, and she should take it seriously.
When Luo Hetu arrived at the hospital, by sheer coincidence, she ran into Chen Yuanyuan.
After the absurd drama that had unfolded at a certain gala, many of the young people involved in the conflict had used the excuse of “recuperating at home.” It wasn’t about who won or lost the arguments or fights; rather, their families had grounded them in a fit of anger, and everyone mutually agreed it was embarrassing. The chaos of that night was tacitly never mentioned again.
Chen Yuanyuan had come to the hospital for a cold to pick up some medicine. When she spotted Luo Hetu sitting in the VIP room, she was a bit surprised. “What are you doing here?”
Luo Hetu blinked, confused by the question. “Isn’t this a hospital? Anyone can come, right?”
Chen Yuanyuan had no response to that.
Her friend, who had come with her and had also been at the gala that night, didn’t say anything further. The two left the hospital, and once outside, the friend asked who that was. Upon learning it was the rumored “Cheng family’s useless Alpha,” she remarked, “She’s not here to treat… that, is she?”
“Very likely.” Chen Yuanyuan replied.
Her friend sighed. “What does Cheng Youqing even see in her?”
“Maybe her looks?”
“She is good-looking, sure. But with Cheng Youqing’s status, couldn’t she find someone just as good-looking? Why not go for a top-tier Alpha or at least a mid-to-high-tier one with money or connections? Anyone would be better than that useless Alpha. Could she have some dirt on her or something?”
As her friend rambled on, Chen Yuanyuan’s thoughts drifted back to the hospital. Her intuition told her that Luo Hetu probably wasn’t there to treat “that.” Something about her suggested she wouldn’t bother even if she did have that issue.
When Zhou Chenghuan finally had a moment, she invited Luo Hetu—who had been daydreaming but was actually solving problems in her head—into the consultation room.
After some basic tests and ordering bloodwork, Luo Hetu obediently went to get her bl00d drawn. When she returned, the two finally had a chance to talk.
Zhou Chenghuan started with praise. “You seem to be recovering well. You’re already a stable top-tier Alpha. Congratulations.”
Luo Hetu blinked. “Thanks, but I have some concerns I’d like you to help with.”
She recounted the soul-searching question she’d posed to Cheng Youqing that morning.
Zhou Chenghuan’s expression remained neutral as she nodded. “That’s normal. You just differentiated, and we generally don’t recommend sexual activity in the first month.”
Luo Hetu: “…Why didn’t you tell that to President Cheng?”
Zhou Chenghuan scratched her head. “Didn’t I mention it?”
Luo Hetu: …
Laughing inwardly at the two of them, Zhou Chenghuan kept a straight face and cleared her throat. “Of course, Alphas are generally tough and resilient. Occasional sexual activity isn’t a big deal. Your situation is likely due to overexertion. Does your Omega have particularly high demands?”
Luo Hetu stared at her, speechless.
Cheng Youqing’s physical condition should be something Zhou Chenghuan knew better than she did.
Perhaps sensing her thoughts, Zhou Chenghuan said seriously, “I only have medical records here. Every Omega’s constitution and condition vary. Since you’re asking me, I need to tailor a treatment plan for you.”
Luo Hetu scratched her ear, thought for a moment, and said, “She’s fine. Just tell me what I need to do.”
Zhou Chenghuan smirked inwardly. What a clever little Alpha.
She didn’t know yet that her reputation as a “useless Alpha” had spread through the business world. As one of the few who knew the truth, Zhou Chenghuan was secretly thrilled to watch the drama unfold and had no intention of telling anyone that this “useless Alpha” had successfully differentiated.
She tried probing about Cheng Youqing, but Luo Hetu didn’t spill a word. Instead, she frowned and asked, “Dr. Zhou, you don’t have a crush on my wife, do you? Two Omegas together would be tough, and I wouldn’t agree to it!”
Zhou Chenghuan dropped the teasing and explained that Luo Hetu’s condition stemmed from being overtaxed by a top-tier Omega right after differentiation. She prescribed some herbal medicine to regulate her body and provided a nourishing diet plan, advising her to limit certain activities to no more than three times a week, exercise regularly, and conserve her energy.
Luo Hetu took the advice and left the hospital.
Zhou Chenghuan was in a great mood that day. Sure enough, two days later, she got a call from Cheng Youqing.
“What did you tell Luo Hetu?”
Zhou Chenghuan laughed inwardly but kept her tone professional. “I just advised her to take care of her body. Why?”
Cheng Youqing hesitated, then fell silent.
Zhou Chenghuan feigned realization. “She’s not suited for overly frequent… activities right now. She told you, didn’t she?”
Since she’d brought it up, Cheng Youqing gritted her teeth and spat out Zhou Chenghuan’s name.
“This isn’t me making things up. It’s for her health. Not like you—an established top-tier Omega whose body is so sensitive it reacts to the slightest touch…”
“Can you shut up?”
“It’s just a clinical description.” Zhou Chenghuan said, her lips curling uncontrollably while her voice remained calm. “You need to consider her health. At least for a month. Besides, I told her no more than three times a week. That’s not enough for you?”
Click. Cheng Youqing hung up.
Zhou Chenghuan had done it on purpose. When Cheng Youqing had previously asked about pregnancy risks, Zhou Chenghuan had assured her that outside of heat cycles, the chances were slim. Back then, she hadn’t mentioned these precautions, leading Cheng Youqing to let her guard down. As legal partners, they’d indulged a bit too much.
And now she was blaming her for being too demanding?
Cheng Youqing rubbed her temples, mentally cursing her so-called “best friend” several times. When she returned to the bedroom, she saw Luo Hetu flipping through a magazine.
The magazine was one of Cheng Youqing’s subscriptions. Her home received weekly deliveries of financial and current affairs magazines to keep up with business and policy trends, along with occasional batches of foreign journals. Luo Hetu was reading one of those foreign journals.
Earlier, Luo Hetu had announced that tonight was off-limits.
Three times a week, scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The rest of the time was for rest. Today happened to be a Friday.
It was a rare Friday with an early finish and no pending work, yet this woman was telling her that “Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays” meant exactly that, and she had to follow the doctor’s rules.
Fine. Following rules now, was she?
Cheng Youqing climbed onto the bed, her slender legs slipping under the covers, and gave Luo Hetu’s backside a swift kick.
Luo Hetu: …
It didn’t hurt much, but the insult was loud and clear.
“Go back to your own room.” Cheng Youqing said coldly.
Luo Hetu paused, set the magazine on the nightstand, and rolled over to tug at her sleeve. “Even if I can’t tonight, my pheromones are still here. They’ll help you sleep better, right?”
Cheng Youqing: “You think I can sleep with your pheromones around?”
Huh? Weren’t Alpha pheromones supposed to soothe Omegas?
Cheng Youqing closed her eyes briefly. “Go sleep. If you stay here, I’m worried it’ll affect you. It’s not good for your health.”
Alright, at least she was concerned about her health. Touched, Luo Hetu got up. “Call me if you need me.”
“What’s the point of calling you?” Cheng Youqing muttered.
Fair enough. It wouldn’t do much good.
Luo Hetu scratched her face, slowly left the room, and closed the door behind her.
Back in her own bedroom, she lay down but suddenly couldn’t sleep.
It made sense. After holding her beautiful “sister” for so long, being told she couldn’t anymore felt like some kind of cosmic injustice.
And to think, the one enforcing this rule was her own doing.
Luo Hetu rolled over, forcing herself to sleep.
Twenty minutes later, she sat up, questioning her soul: Why can’t I just hold her to sleep?
Just holding her to sleep. She already missed it so much, and Cheng Youqing probably did too.
Just holding her to sleep.
She quietly left her bedroom, tiptoed to Cheng Youqing’s door, and gently pressed the handle.
The door wasn’t locked.
Luo Hetu peeked inside. The room was silent.
After hesitating, she decided to go in.
When she finally slipped onto the bed with the lightest movements, a warm, soft body swiftly wrapped around her and pinned her down.
“What are you doing here?”
Luo Hetu swallowed, catching the faint scent of Cheng Youqing’s sunny cotton fragrance.
“To sleep with you.”
“Do I need you to sleep with me?”
“Uh… probably not?”
“Then leave.”
Luo Hetu told the truth. “I can’t sleep without you.”
“That’s your problem. In my bed, it’s not just sleeping. You made the rules, so deal with it.”
Luo Hetu was torn. “Just sleeping is fine too, right?”
“No.” Cheng Youqing said firmly.
Luo Hetu sighed, wrapping her arms around her waist. “Alright, whatever you say goes. Just… be gentle, take pity on me. You know, I lost my parents when I was…”
Cheng Youqing: …
