Guide To Lying Flat And Getting Rich As A Kept Alpha - Chapter 51
51
It was a rule she had set herself, and she had to follow it too. Xiao Ba found a clean waiter’s uniform top, which Luo Hetu put on. The new batch of uniforms Qianbao had recently switched to were dark shirts, with sleeves rolled up halfway, paired with the beautifully toned muscles of both male and female Alphas. The entire staff of aloof, abstinence-style Alpha waiters was enough to make anyone’s head spin.
Luo Hetu praised herself, “I’m truly a genius.”
The tsundere Xiao Ba let out a soft hum and adjusted her collar. Luo Hetu took half a step back. “Even if you’re an Alpha, don’t get too close to me. My wife will get mad if she finds out.”
Xiao Ba rolled her eyes. “As if I want to deal with you.”
Pushing a small cart, Luo Hetu headed toward Room 8, which had ordered quite a few items. Suddenly, Xiao Ba remembered something and said, “Oh, by the way, Sister Xu is in Room 8.”
Luo Hetu froze, hesitating about whether to go or not.
But at this point, sending someone else in her place would make it seem like she was afraid to face Xu Ruyan. After all, Xu Ruyan was a younger sister who had helped her out a lot, and everyone at Qianbao liked her. It had been a while since they last met, and Luo Hetu didn’t want to completely cut ties with her.
Meeting her and greeting her properly, asking about her studies at the prestigious university she attended, and maybe giving her some pocket money or something seemed like a good idea.
Luo Hetu arrived at Room 8, knocked on the door, opened it, and carried a fruit platter inside.
The room was dimly lit, with only a couple of small warm lamps on. Someone was singing, and usually, the noise inside made it impossible for anyone to hear a knock. Naturally, no one paid much attention to the waiter’s face.
As Luo Hetu entered with the fruit platter, she stood upright and quickly scanned the room. There were about seven or eight people sitting on the sofas, and her eyes immediately landed on Xu Ruyan, who was seated on one side.
Xu Ruyan saw her too and visibly froze in place.
Luo Hetu didn’t look at her again. She didn’t closely inspect the others in the room, assuming they were Xu Ruyan’s friends. She placed the fruit platter on the table and went to fetch the other snacks and drinks.
“Hey! Isn’t that Cheng Youqing’s defective Alpha?”
Luo Hetu’s hand paused, and she looked up at the person who spoke.
It was a man, somewhat familiar. After a moment of thought, Luo Hetu recalled that he was the man she had seen at the Cheng Corporation, the one who came to see Cheng Youqing while looking at a sand table model.
Zheng Xiaolong said, “Zhang Peng, turn up the lights. It’s too dark; we might mistake her for someone else.”
The lights suddenly brightened, and Luo Hetu, who had adjusted to the dim lighting, squinted her eyes. She stood tall, looking at the overly excited man.
“Well, well! I wasn’t wrong. It’s the defective Alpha who married Cheng Youqing! What’s this? The Alpha who married into the Cheng Corporation, working as a waiter at a KTV?”
With the lights now bright, Luo Hetu scanned the room again and spotted another familiar face—Chen Yuanyuan.
She knew Chen Yuanyuan and Cheng Youqing were part of the same social circle, but they didn’t get along. The man seemed to be a second-generation heir as well, someone who had come to discuss business with the Cheng Corporation on behalf of his company. So, everyone in the room likely knew Cheng Youqing and was part of her circle.
Though, Luo Hetu thought, Cheng Youqing probably didn’t think much of them. No, she was certain her wife looked down on them. While her wife was busy running the company, these second-generation heirs were singing and enjoying themselves at Qianbao.
She wasn’t sure how Xu Ruyan knew them or why she was sitting with them.
For some reason, Luo Hetu felt a surge of pride and stood even straighter. “Yes.”
Zheng Xiaolong laughed loudly. “Working as a waiter and still so confident? What was Cheng Youqing thinking, letting her live-in Alpha come out and work as a waiter?”
“My wife, President Cheng, believes in self-reliance.” Luo Hetu said nonchalantly, making it up on the spot.
The group burst into laughter, and the person singing stopped to join the others in staring at Luo Hetu.
“So, she’s the defective Alpha who married Cheng Youqing?”
“Yeah, that’s her.”
“She does look pretty good, though.”
A tall, long-legged Alpha woman with refined features, delicate brows, broad shoulders, defined arm muscles, and a slim waist.
Even in a place like Qianbao, where stunning Alphas were abundant, she could hold her own against the likes of Boss Ba’s top star.
Chen Yuanyuan couldn’t hold back. “Wait a minute. Doesn’t Cheng Youqing keep a tight leash on you? You’re not sneaking out to have fun, are you? If a live-in Alpha is out flirting, I’ll have to tell on you.”
Someone else chimed in, “Chen Yuanyuan, you’re sounding more and more like you’re on Cheng Youqing’s side. Isn’t she your rival?”
Chen Yuanyuan’s retort was drowned out by the chatter.
“Since you’re here, don’t leave. Stay and sing a few songs with us. You probably accompany people in other rooms too, right? Cheng Youqing’s generous, letting her Alpha come out to entertain.”
“Maybe the Cheng Corporation’s in trouble, and she’s stressed, so she’s developed some new… preferences.”
“What preferences? A cuckold fetish? Hahaha!”
Xu Ruyan suddenly stood up. “Stop talking nonsense! Teacher Xiao Luo is a highly talented Alpha! She’s not someone for you to mock, and she’s not a waiter either. She—”
Luo Hetu quickly cut her off. “Qianbao doesn’t offer waiter accompaniment services. If you want to have fun, do it properly. But we have an unwritten rule here: people and dogs who badmouth the chairman of the Cheng Corporation are not allowed in. I’ll let it slide this time since you’re friends, but if I hear it again, I may just be a lowly waiter, but everyone at Qianbao listens to me.”
One guy, caught up in the excitement, thought she was bluffing. “You’re just a defective Alpha waiter, acting like you’re something special. Without Cheng Youqing, you’re nothing. And now you’re working as a waiter? Either Cheng Youqing got tired of you and kicked you out, or she’s got some weird fetish and likes watching you sing and sleep around, hahaha…”
Luo Hetu: …
Are the villains in this book really this brainless?
No need to call another waiter. Luo Hetu cracked her knuckles, took a few long strides forward, and single-handedly lifted the loudmouthed male Omega.
“Ah~” The man let out a strange sound.
Luo Hetu: …
This was the legendary scenario where you want to hit someone, but you’re afraid they might enjoy it.
Not wanting to get too close, she carried him to the door, opened it, and shouted, “This guy’s badmouthing me and my wife. Throw him out.”
The male Omega screamed, “Argh! Even if Cheng Youqing were here, she wouldn’t dare treat me like this! You’ll regret this!”
“Nonsense. Looks to me like you’re enjoying it.” Luo Hetu retorted.
Two burly Alpha men came over, each grabbing one of the Omega’s arms and dragging him away. For some reason, the male Omega was whimpering as the two Alphas hauled him off.
Xiao Ba, cheeks puffed out from chewing ice cream given by a female student, poked her head in. “What’s going on?”
Luo Hetu clicked her tongue. “He still ended up enjoying it.”
Back in the room, the others were momentarily speechless. Zheng Xiaolong, unafraid, spoke up again. “A live-in Alpha is one thing, but a defective Alpha at that.”
Luo Hetu replied, “What, you want to eat my glands or something?”
Zheng Xiaolong choked on his words. Of course, he wouldn’t do something so illegal that could easily be used against him.
And what was up with this Luo Hetu? Weren’t defective Alphas supposed to be gloomy, sensitive societal outcasts? Where did she get this confidence, standing so tall and looking at them like they were idiots?
“Keep bringing it up, and it sounds like you’re after my glands. Careful, or I’ll report you to the police.” Luo Hetu adjusted her shirt. “Your order’s all here. I’m off to work. If you have any complaints about my wife, you can tell her to her face. Or tell me, and I’ll personally beat you up and throw you out. Oh, and if anyone else wants to act cheap like that male Omega, I don’t mind letting Qianbao’s burly Alphas make you ‘enjoy’ yourselves too.”
The group: …
She was just a live-in, defective Alpha. How dare she talk to them like that!
The male Omega who got dragged out still hadn’t returned.
Many in the room were displeased, but just as Luo Hetu had guessed, they wouldn’t dare call Cheng Youqing to tattle. They only dared gossip behind her back out of jealousy. To actually confront Cheng Youqing? That was something only their parents’ generation could do.
Xu Ruyan let out a humph, got up, and followed Luo Hetu out of the room.
The room fell silent for a while before the group erupted into heated discussion about this seemingly tough but clearly useless live-in Alpha. Even if she was doing well at Qianbao, she couldn’t compare to anyone in the room, especially since she was working as a waiter.
Their conclusion: Either Cheng Youqing had lost her mind, or something was wrong with her.
Back at the front desk, Luo Hetu took off her shirt, leaving only her sports bra as she changed into her T-shirt. She didn’t care, but Xu Ruyan caught a full view of her lean back muscles, defined arm lines, and the slim waistline disappearing into her pants. Xu Ruyan’s cheeks flushed red instantly.
Luo Hetu put on her clothes, grabbed her jacket, and turned to see Xu Ruyan looking like a ripe tomato.
“Yo,” Luo Hetu greeted her with a smile. “It wasn’t a good time to chat earlier. How about this? I’ll treat you to some milk tea.”
Xu Ruyan, blushing, shook her head.
“I heard,” Xu Ruyan suddenly mustered up the courage, looking into her eyes, “that you’re a defective Alpha.”
“Yeah,” Luo Hetu admitted without any burden, completely at ease.
Xu Ruyan bit her lip.
“And I’m married.”
“Mm,” Xu Ruyan asked softly, “Is she good to you?”
“Pretty good.”
Xu Ruyan fell silent, her expression downcast.
Qianbao was bustling with business, and a group of young people walked in. Seeing a few Alphas about to bump into Xu Ruyan, Luo Hetu reached out and pulled her closer.
She forgot that, as a top-tier Alpha, her strength was much greater than before. Xu Ruyan stumbled right in front of her, catching a whiff of her potent pheromones.
Blushing, Xu Ruyan asked in confusion, “Do defective Alphas have such strong pheromones?”
Luo Hetu replied, “I sprayed a special perfume for defective Alphas to mask my weak pheromones.”
Her ability to lie through her teeth was getting better and better.
Xu Ruyan let out an “oh.”
Seeing the awkward atmosphere, Luo Hetu asked with concern, “How’s university? Sun Yinuo said you’re the campus belle there. You must have a lot of suitors, right? Make sure to carefully judge their character. Don’t date someone unless they’re truly good and really like you.”
“What’s it to you? You’re not going to date me, so why do you care so much?”
Luo Hetu shut her mouth. She really didn’t have any standing to say these things.
Xu Ruyan had matured and grown even more beautiful since high school. She stood out even among that group earlier, and now, looking at her, she was pure and stunning, like a white iris blooming in the night.
She suddenly explained, “It’s my birthday today. My friends said they’d invited some people to celebrate with me. I didn’t expect them to be those people. We got into an argument at a banquet once before. Right before you came, I had a fight with my friend.”
Luo Hetu let out an “oh,” only registering that it was her birthday. “I didn’t know earlier. Wait a sec, I’ll go get you a gift.”
Xu Ruyan shook her head. “No need. Seeing you today already made me happy.”
The person who had confidently mocked a group of second-generation heirs earlier now didn’t know what to say. She opened her mouth but chose to stay silent.
“I know you’re married. If you’re living a good life, I wish you well. If you’re not, and you ever want a divorce… you can come talk to me.”
Luo Hetu sensed things were veering into strange territory and quickly added, “I’m a defective Alpha.”
Xu Ruyan pursed her lips. “I don’t really care about that.”
Luo Hetu panicked even more. “I have no intention of cheating. I’m loyal to my wife, and I love her very much—”
“I’m not telling you to get divorced! I’m just saying, if you ever want to, you can talk to me.” Xu Ruyan snapped in frustration, “Just shut up. Goodbye.”
Xu Ruyan left.
Luo Hetu was utterly confused. She was already burdened with the double debuff of being a defective Alpha and married, so Xu Ruyan should’ve been deterred by now. Why was she still like this? Yet, she also felt a faint sense of comfort. Xu Ruyan didn’t look down on her for being a defective Alpha, which showed the girl was loyal and righteous. No wonder in the book, she was so devoted to someone like Zhang Sheng for a lifetime.
Luo Hetu hoped she’d find someone who was wholeheartedly good to her and of strong character.
Unbeknownst to her, the events at Qianbao that day quickly reached the ears of two people, each left deep in thought, scheming in their own way.
