- Has the Fallen Young Master Changed His Heart Today?
- Chapter 4.1 - Want to Pat His Head
Don’t show up in front of me.
Jiang Yanming had heard words like that many times before.
After saying this, Gu Qingzhi turned and walked away without hesitation, not willing to spare another glance.
But behind him, Jiang Yanming didn’t shift his gaze, standing in place with no intention of leaving.
Qin Yu found it odd but soon returned to the shop.
He went to a booth to find Gu Qingzhi, lowering his head to ask, “You know him?”
Gu Qingzhi was wiping a table, his movements steady.
“Don’t know him.”
He looked outside, seeing a figure standing like a statue.
“He’s still there. Does he need something from you?”
Gu Qingzhi let go of the rag, straightened up, and glanced outside. “Ignore him.”
Soon, the shop was packed inside and out, with employees bustling about.
Qin Yu and Xiao Ji, grilling skewers, couldn’t pause for a moment.
Under the heat of the fire, sweat covered their bodies, but their hands kept moving.
Gu Qingzhi had taken off his jacket, wearing only a short-sleeve shirt and work uniform, darting between the shop and outdoor tables.
“Table six outside, take it over.”
After instructing an employee, Gu Qingzhi saw customers leaving a booth.
He grabbed a rag, quickly tidying up.
“Gu, serve the food.”
Qin Yu was swamped, shouting without looking, turning back to keep grilling.
Gu Qingzhi still had to sweep and wipe the table again, unable to go right away.
The girls waiting in the booth weren’t in a rush.
One, in a good mood, watched and smiled. “No hurry.”
Gu Qingzhi was already quick, saying, “Sorry.”
When Qin Yu turned again, the two grill trays were still on the table.
He was about to look up when someone appeared in his view.
Thinking it was an employee, he said, “This is table two, this is seven outside.”
Then, two hands with distinct knuckles picked up the trays.
Qin Yu looked up, stunned. “You…”
Jiang Yanming carried the trays and left, first to the booth, then striding outside.
As long as he’s not here to cause trouble.
Qin Yu thought this, too busy to care.
Outside, Jiang Yanming was asking the table what they needed.
“Could you grab a few more cups?”
“Anything else?”
“No, that’s it.”
“Okay.”
An employee serving outside noticed Jiang Yanming, quickly walking to his side and asking, “You new?”
He replied, “Yeah.”
The three girls at the table started giggling after Jiang Yanming turned to leave.
“God, he’s so damn hot!”
“I didn’t see him last time. I can’t tell if this is a barbecue shop or a male model agency—how are there so many good-looking guys?”
The man with them, just looking away, said, “If I saw right, that watch he’s wearing costs hundreds of thousands. That rich, and he’s working here?”
“Hey, look over there.”
A girl suddenly pointed excitedly toward the shop’s entrance.
Jiang Yanming, back inside, was spotted by Gu Qingzhi, standing there.
Fuming, Gu Qingzhi couldn’t hold back.
He grabbed Jiang Yanming’s tight sleeve and pulled him outside.
They went out the door, down the steps, and into the narrow alley between shops before Gu Qingzhi let go of his hand.
The dim light made it hard to see the other’s expression.
For Gu Qingzhi, that was a good thing.
He tilted his head slightly, facing him, standing close, his voice unfamiliar, anger clear.
“Can’t you understand what I said?”
“I’m here to help.”
“Don’t need it!” He nearly shouted, facing someone who seemed to have done nothing wrong.
Jiang Yanming appeared calm, as if hearing something trivial, but his fingers dug into his palm.
In a place no one noticed, his clenched fist hid in the dark.
He looked down, saying softly, “Just pretend you don’t see me. Ignore me.”
Gu Qingzhi replied almost instantly, voice louder.
His beautiful eyes glared fiercely.
“You think I’m blind?”
No response came, but in the dark, he clearly met those softening eyes.
He fell silent. Two seconds later, he sighed, his tone helpless but firm.
“You got a lot of free time?”
Jiang Yanming said calmly, “Yeah, plenty.”
“…”
Gu Qingzhi was at a loss for words.
He couldn’t understand why Jiang Yanming kept finding ways to get close after hearing such harsh words.
In his usual state, Gu Qingzhi couldn’t bring himself to say those cruel words again.
He wasn’t really that heartless.
The two stood silently, staring with entirely different gazes, their breathing faint.
Gu Qingzhi glared, lips tight, deliberately pushing him away, hoping he’d back off.
But Jiang Yanming just looked, his calm eyes hiding ripples of gentleness deep within.
If he weren’t disliked, he’d want to reach out and smooth his hair.
The long seconds of staring made Gu Qingzhi unwilling to stay, so he broke eye contact first.
But this time, Jiang Yanming moved first.
