- Has the Fallen Young Master Changed His Heart Today?
- Chapter 5.1 - “Can I Add Your WeChat?”
Twelve forty-five.
The last table of customers finally left, leaving a mess inside and outside the shop.
Qin Yu stretched in his seat, letting out a groan before saying to Xiao Ji beside him, “Good work. Go home early, no need to clean up.”
“It’s fine, I’ll clean up with the others before leaving.”
“I’m not kidding, just go.”
“No really, I’ll go with them, it’s on the way.”
“Alright then.”
Getting up from the chair, Qin Yu looked at Gu Qingzhi sitting at the counter, then tilted his head to glance at the man in black sweeping the floor, whose name he didn’t know.
This guy, staying until now and still not leaving?
“Gu, tell him to go. The others can handle the cleanup.”
Gu Qingzhi didn’t look up, calculating the day’s earnings.
“I can’t control him.”
Qin Yu found it increasingly strange, his gaze darting between their faces.
He leaned closer to Gu Qingzhi, whispering, “Did you see the car he drives and the watch he wears? A rich guy, why’s he helping out here?”
Jiang Yanming, sweeping, paused, glanced at them, and set the broom aside.
Noticing his approach, Qin Yu pulled his head away from Gu Qingzhi’s ear, then sized up the man from head to toe.
As Qin Yu hesitated to ask directly, Jiang Yanming took out his phone from his pocket and held it in front of him.
“Can I add your WeChat?”
Jiang Yanming asked again.
Qin Yu’s eyes widened at the request, his already wandering gaze now busier observing.
Gu Qingzhi finished calculating the day’s income.
With five extra tables, they earned much more than before.
His appearance wasn’t aggressive; his brows and eyes were gentle, his thin lips naturally a faint pink.
He gave a completely opposite first impression from Jiang Yanming, and many thought so back in college.
The first time Gu Qingzhi saw Jiang Yanming, he never imagined he’d grow close to someone who seemed so cold and resistant to everything.
Now, Gu Qingzhi saw Jiang Yanming’s profile picture again.
When they broke up years ago, Gu Qingzhi deleted everything he could, changed everything he needed to.
That was his way—clean breaks, no lingering possibilities for himself or the other.
He didn’t think much, just answered the question. “Said I’m not adding.”
“Okay.”
Jiang Yanming didn’t press, showing no sign of being upset by the rejection.
He put his phone back in his pocket.
“Then I’ll ask again tomorrow.”
“What?”
Gu Qingzhi looked up, but Jiang Yanming turned and walked away.
Did that mean…
He’d come back tomorrow.
“I…”
Gu Qingzhi’s words stopped as six pairs of eyes in the shop turned toward him.
Their gazes were cautious, curious, with one small head peeking from a booth.
He swallowed his words, catching Qin Yu staring intently in his peripheral vision.
If he heard right, Qin Yu’s tone was excited, nudging Gu Qingzhi’s arm.
“What’s the deal? Hitting on you?”
Gu Qingzhi was speechless, seeing that stubborn back a few steps ahead, unable to say a word.
“You’re a bit much, huh? So many girls asking for your WeChat is one thing, but now a guy’s after it too, chasing you to the shop? You’re a real man-eater, Gu, you’re blowing my mind.”
This speech annoyed Gu Qingzhi to no end.
He shot a cold glance.
“You want to walk home today?”
“Huh? No way, you gotta drive me. Taxis are pricey.”
Knowing Gu Qingzhi wasn’t really mad, Qin Yu grinned.
“But, ignoring gender, this guy’s probably the best match for you, and rich, damn.”
“Are you jealous?”
“Nah, I’m straight as an arrow.”
And I’m not?
Gu Qingzhi almost blurted it out.
Though, a long time ago, he wasn’t.
“Say one more word, and you’re walking.”
“Fine, fine, I’m done. Wait for me, gotta hit the bathroom, then we’ll go.”
As Gu Qingzhi looked up, Jiang Yanming, who hadn’t gone far, walked back, head lowered.
Jiang Yanming had thick brows, deep black pupils, pale lips, a high nose, and sharp facial lines, the kind of angular handsomeness.
Over one-ninety tall, with great proportions and subtle, unexaggerated muscle lines.
Though two years younger than Gu Qingzhi, he looked more mature.
No denying, he was the type to easily make hearts flutter.
His steps were light, walking toward him under lingering gazes.
“I’ll drive you back?”
“No need.”
Gu Qingzhi didn’t know his own expression, only that he pushed Jiang Yanming away with words.
He passed by him, as if warning.
“Don’t come back tomorrow.”
After saying it, Gu Qingzhi didn’t know if Jiang Yanming would show up tomorrow.
The next evening, with ten minutes until opening, Gu Qingzhi walked into the shop.
He wore a denim jacket today, looking fresh but also cold.
He scanned the shop, not seeing that figure, then didn’t look around again, heading straight to where Qin Yu sat.
