Has The Live-in Alpha Stepped Up - Chapter 10
10: Both Girls
An Yizhu followed Yu Guqiu home.
Just standing at the doorway and glancing inside was enough to excite her.
This 140-square-meter flat was her dream home, meticulously designed stroke by stroke according to her own ideas and then perfectly replicated in reality.
To the side of the entrance was a semi-open kitchen, and outside the kitchen was an open dining area connected to the living room.
A sleek, cold-toned marble dining table hung beneath a stylish, color-adjustable pendant lamp.
All functional areas were subtly divided only by the gradient colors of the floor tiles.
Next to the living room was a balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Bright sunlight could freely spill across the floor during the day.
At night, the most stunning views of Jiangcheng’s skyline could be taken in at a glance.
Everything here was exactly as she had drawn, with only a few traces of Yu Guqiu’s presence added.
Well, to be honest, there weren’t many changes.
Just a pair of slippers by the door and two books on the living room coffee table.
Yu Guqiu seemed as if she barely lived in this home at all. The already minimalist decor was further stripped of life, with almost no signs of daily living visible anywhere.
The room was so cold and empty it felt devoid of any worldly desires.
“The central air conditioning in the guest room is broken. I’ve scheduled a repair for tomorrow, so you can’t stay there tonight.” Yu Guqiu explained the sleeping arrangements to An Yizhu.
An Yizhu wasn’t sure who to blame for this.
Should she blame herself for being lazy and not detailing the guest room since she thought it would never be used?
Or should she blame Yu Guqiu for assuming the guest room would never be needed and thus neglecting it?
Yu Guqiu opened a hidden door on the right, pulling out several items from the storage room and handing them to An Yizhu. “You can use these spare items for now.”
There was a pillow, a blanket, a towel, and a toothbrush.
But no slippers.
Yu Guqiu didn’t even bother to explain why.
Luckily, An Yizhu preferred the feeling of bare feet on the floor and didn’t mind.
Carrying the items, An Yizhu headed straight for the master bedroom. “It’s fine. I can just sleep on the floor in your room for one night. No problem at all.”
Yu Guqiu frowned. “How can the two of us sleep in the same room?”
But An Yizhu’s hand was already on the doorknob. “We’re both girls. What’s the big deal?”
Yu Guqiu stared straight at An Yizhu, as if trying to see through her thoughts, and repeated her words slowly, “So, just because we’re both girls, it’s okay to share a room?”
An Yizhu nodded earnestly.
Due to her health issues in the past, An Yizhu had never had the chance to experience communal living. Let alone traveling with a close friend, sharing a room, staying up late for fun “girl talk,” and all that.
Now, she could finally start experiencing it with Yu Guqiu—how wonderful!
Even if Yu Guqiu didn’t seem like the type to chat at night.
That was fine too!
An Yizhu was so excited she didn’t even hear what Yu Guqiu said next.
“This is the first time I’ve heard an Alpha say something so shameless to an Omega.”
Yu Guqiu watched as An Yizhu strode confidently into her bedroom and fell silent, unable to stop her in time.
She was lost in thought.
Was this the power of a 100% pheromone match?
Yu Guqiu felt as though she was being controlled by this Alpha, and it was deeply unpleasant.
But when Yu Guqiu followed her in, she saw that the supposedly unruly An Yizhu was now dutifully laying out a makeshift bed on the floor.
An Yizhu hadn’t chosen a spot beside the bed but at the foot of it.
The 2-meter by 2-meter bed easily accommodated the floor bedding without looking out of place.
An Yizhu crouched on the floor, smoothing out the blanket, then turned to Yu Guqiu and proudly explained, “This spot won’t block the path to the bathroom or the desk!”
With that, she took off her backpack and pulled out the medicine and suppressant patches prescribed by the hospital, placing them beside her pillow.
Yu Guqiu had originally come in to kick her out.
But aside from barging into the room, An Yizhu’s actions were so well-behaved that Yu Guqiu couldn’t find fault.
Yu Guqiu shook her head slightly and decided to let An Yizhu stay in her room for one night. After all, she wanted to see what game this girl was playing.
If An Yizhu slipped up sooner, it would save her the trouble.
But just as Yu Guqiu turned to leave and fetch herself a glass of warm milk before bed, she glanced at the other bedroom doors and froze.
Something was wrong.
This wasn’t right!
Yu Guqiu abruptly turned back, strode into the room, and demanded coldly, “How did you know this was the master bedroom?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the temperature in the room seemed to plummet.
An Yizhu felt a chill run down her spine. Yu Guqiu’s gaze was like an ice pick pressed against the back of her skull.
This was bad.
This was a very difficult question to explain.
Logically, this was her first time here, and all the doors had been closed earlier. Even with X-ray vision, it would’ve been hard to tell which room was the master bedroom.
An Yizhu truly had no way to explain!
What could she say?
Should she confidently declare, I designed this entire apartment—of course I know which room is the master bedroom!
She didn’t dare.
She didn’t want to finally leave the hospital only to be locked up on another floor for “mental instability.”
Her mind raced. “What’s so hard about that? Based on the apartment’s layout, you opened the hidden storage room on the right side of the entrance earlier, and the door next to it must be the bathroom. This design is for convenience, so the master bedroom should be near the living room and face south for sunlight. That’s why I knew it was this one!”
An Yizhu had really put in the effort, recalling her original design rationale in just a few seconds.
She even added, “And even if I opened the wrong door earlier, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. I’d just get to see an extra room!”
Yu Guqiu listened as An Yizhu flawlessly explained herself, even throwing in the professional term “apartment layout.”
Instead of being convinced, she inwardly sneered.
So, the person who sent her even knows the details of my home.
Her suspicions narrowed.
If An Yizhu knew what Yu Guqiu was thinking, she would’ve cried out in protest—if she had known this would make her seem like a spy, she would’ve rather been labeled a lunatic!
Unfortunately, An Yizhu wasn’t a mind reader.
And Yu Guqiu had no idea what was going on in An Yizhu’s head. In fact, after knowing An Yizhu for barely a day, she was even more confused about her true nature.
Was this girl naive or cunning?
Genuinely innocent or deeply calculating?
How… interesting.
An Yizhu’s danger level in Yu Guqiu’s mind skyrocketed, simultaneously igniting her competitive spirit.
Seeing Yu Guqiu silent, An Yizhu grew nervous. She stood up and walked closer to Yu Guqiu.
Standing face-to-face like this, An Yizhu realized that although Yu Guqiu was only slightly shorter than her, she was far too slender—almost as frail as An Yizhu’s own sickly frame.
For someone with such an intimidating aura, she was surprisingly petite. It felt like she could be pulled into an embrace with just one arm.
Just then, Yu Guqiu snapped out of her thoughts and noticed An Yizhu approaching. She looked up at her.
An Yizhu was clearly oblivious to the Alpha dominance she exuded. The moment their eyes met, she panicked like a thief caught by the police.
Her hands and feet fidgeted awkwardly as she stammered, “I’d like to take a shower before bed. Could you lend me some old clothes to sleep in?”
An Yizhu paused, overthinking an odd detail.
What should she call Yu Guqiu?
By her full name?
That would sound too formal in this situation.
“Jiejie?”
That felt a little embarrassing right now.
“Xiao Qiu?”
No, that wasn’t appropriate!
“Boss.” That was her final decision—sticking with the title Yu Guqiu hadn’t objected to earlier.
Yu Guqiu found this girl utterly baffling—one moment she had no sense of boundaries, the next she was meticulously respectful.
It was like she was dancing right on the edge of propriety.
But Yu Guqiu didn’t want to engage further. She turned to her closet to fetch some clothes.
Yu Guqiu’s wardrobe matched the style of the entire home.
It contained only the most basic, essential outfits for the season, as if her life consisted of nothing but work.
Standing there, An Yizhu took one glance and couldn’t help but think: Yu Guqiu needs new, decent clothes even more than I do.
How could a closet be so monotonous? There wasn’t a single bold color in sight.
Yu Guqiu opened a rarely used drawer.
Inside were a few old clothes she hadn’t gotten around to discarding yet.
Including an unused set of pajamas.
A wine-red, button-up pajama set—ironically the most colorful item in the entire wardrobe.
An Yizhu took them with a smile. “Then I’ll go shower in the bathroom near the living room.”
“There’s no body wash in the living room bathroom.” Yu Guqiu said, arms crossed as she stared at An Yizhu.
An Yizhu’s eyes widened.
What did that mean?!
Was she supposed to shower in the master bedroom’s bathroom?
But… but… the master bathroom door didn’t even have a lock! It was just a flimsy frosted glass door.
An Yizhu wasn’t worried about Yu Guqiu barging in on her—she definitely wouldn’t suddenly attack her mid-shower.
And she surely didn’t have the weird habit of leaving the door open to watch her bathe.
But An Yizhu was still embarrassed.
She had always been independent.
Since kindergarten, she hadn’t even shared a bathroom with her younger sister, always using the ensuite in her own room.
Even after falling ill, she had insisted on taking care of herself, never letting her mother help with bathing.
“We’re both girls. What’s the big deal?” Yu Guqiu threw her own words back at her.
An Yizhu choked. She hadn’t expected Yu Guqiu to use her own reasoning against her.
Now she couldn’t even use the excuse of Alpha-Omega differences!
Maybe she shouldn’t have entered the master bedroom at all. Sleeping on the living room couch for one night wouldn’t have been so bad.
Come to think of it, had she already angered Yu Guqiu by setting up a bed on the floor?
She had almost forgotten—this woman was the ultimate blackened villain! She was more than capable of ruthless retaliation.
But…
Couldn’t she save her villainous schemes for someone else? Why pick on a poor little girl like me?!
