He is not my Alpha! - Chapter 14
Ji Yifei had no time to bother with that idiot. He quickly changed into his performance outfit and began preparing backstage.
When he looked into the restroom mirror, he wanted to call the police.
But he couldn’t help but sigh and admit that he actually looked quite handsome.
The backstage area had poor soundproofing. He could hear the music playing on stage from an unknown class—it was incredibly upbeat, perhaps the “hot girl dance” they had mentioned earlier?
When Ji Yifei was almost ready, the makeup artist helped him put on the wig. Because he was supposed to be disguised as a girl and needed to convey the “gentleness” of a woman from the Jiangnan region, the makeup artist had put in a great deal of effort.
Ji Yifei was objectively good-looking, a fact recognized by the entire school. The makeup artist smiled as she worked. A teacher walked over, looked at him, and sighed, “Which class does this girl belong to? She’s so beautiful.”
The makeup artist smiled and replied, “Teacher, take a closer look. Is this a little boy or a little girl?”
Ji Yifei cooperatively said, “Teacher, you don’t even recognize me anymore?”
Ji Yifei’s voice made the teacher pause, then she said, “Is that… Ji Yifei?”
Ji Yifei nodded politely in response. He could see the teacher’s embarrassment. This teacher had taught him before and, having heard of his “school bully” reputation somewhere, had been sarcastic toward him during the first class.
After seeing Ji Yifei’s report card, she never said anything more, but her initial attitude had already left Ji Yifei with a bad impression of her.
She was replaced by a new teacher after half a semester, and the two had no further interaction.
Ji Yifei didn’t want to make her uncomfortable. He complimented the makeup artist’s skill, saying the teacher couldn’t even recognize him. The makeup artist was pleased, and her movements became much more refined.
The teacher also tactfully left. Ji Yifei had exercised that morning and hadn’t rested well at noon, so he closed his eyes to rest.
The makeup artist’s hand glided over the handsome face of the young man, applying her “art of disguise.” Once the wig was secured and the setting spray was applied, Ji Yifei slowly opened his eyes, looking through the mirror at the completely different “her.”
This makeup artist’s skill was truly exceptional. With his striking, seductive eyes, long black hair, and the azure performance outfit, if Ji Yifei went out like this, and he didn’t speak, absolutely no one would recognize that the graceful young woman before them was a boy.
Of course, the reflection in the mirror was not just Ji Yifei, but also a long-haired man dressed in black.
Ji Yifei couldn’t help but smile and said, “Whose gentleman is this? So handsome.”
Shang Yan walked over to him and replied, “You don’t remember this? You were calling me your Prince Charming (如意郎君) just yesterday.”
Ji Yifei remembered their playful banter from the day before, and mindful of the makeup artist nearby, he nodded and replied, “Yes, yes. Prince Charming, please help me fetch some water.”
The makeup artist watched the two of them interact, smiled, said, “Don’t smudge your lipstick,” and went to tend to others.
Soon after, other participants arrived. One by one, seeing Ji Yifei, they all wanted to bang their heads against the wall to wake up.
Although they had just seen the blonde, blue-eyed noblewoman, the current sight of this “nation-toppling, city-ruining” gentle lady, who, with every glance and smile, seemed to have stepped out of an ancient painting, still left everyone breathless.
Chen Ken couldn’t help but suggest that they absolutely must make Ji Yifei wear women’s clothing and hold the sign during the sports meet next time.
The group gathered around, teasing him. Before long, a male student from an unknown class, with a brave heart, came over to ask Ji Yifei for his WeChat ID.
Ji Yifei repeatedly stated that he was a boy, but the boy was apparently interested regardless of gender. Finally, Shang Yan broke the boy’s fantasy.
The boy seemed to be from Grade 10. He walked over and praised Ji Yifei profusely, saying things like, “Sister, you are so beautiful,” and “Do I, your little brother, have a chance?”
…The cascade of awkward lines forced everyone into silence.
Ji Yifei awkwardly said he was a boy, but the other party actually pulled out his phone to ask for his WeChat, declaring he wasn’t particular about gender.
Ji Yifei genuinely didn’t know how to handle the situation for a moment.
Several boys stood nearby, thoroughly enjoying the spectacle of the “school bully” and the junior’s forbidden love.
Until Ji Yifei gave them the look: “If you don’t help me now, see how I deal with you later.”
Li Jiang was just about to shout, “The ‘Dog Wang’ is coming.”
Shang Yan, who had been silently watching nearby, walked behind Ji Yifei, reached out his hand as if to fix Ji Yifei’s hair, but then quietly lowered it. He looked at the male student and said:
“Sorry, he already has a partner. Little junior, don’t let your imagination run wild.”
This action stunned the crowd.
Ji Yifei saw Shang Yan’s movement in the mirror and realized that he hadn’t worn his glasses today.
The opposite party awkwardly apologized and left.
Ji Yifei finally registered what Shang Yan had just said and was about to fire back. But then he remembered Shang Yan had helped him, so he held back.
The little junior looked at Shang Yan’s handsome face, seemed to remember something, and awkwardly excused himself.
Little junior: Damn, isn’t that the school heartthrob? So handsome.
The little junior hadn’t walked far when a thought flashed in his mind.
Wait a minute, the school heartthrob said that person has a partner… Holy crap! The school heartthrob has a partner!!!!
He turned back, wanting to catch another glimpse of the school heartthrob’s girlfriend, but the school heartthrob’s back blocked his view.
Little junior: Darn it, I didn’t see! Doesn’t matter, I’ll notify the group first… He immediately opened the Grade 10 new student group and started spilling the tea.
Ji Yifei was still thinking of how to retort to Shang Yan when he felt a pang of pain on his forehead.
Ji Yifei: “Shang Yan, what are you doing… it hurts.”
Right after saying this, Ji Yifei felt something was wrong. Why did his words sound so whiny? He raised his eyes and saw Shang Yan standing directly in front of him.
He hadn’t looked at him closely before, but now he noticed Shang Yan’s attire.
Shang Yan had also changed into his performance outfit. Perhaps to complement their azure colors, the male outfit was white, but the hem of the skirt was embroidered. Before Ji Yifei could look closely, Shang Yan flicked his forehead again.
“Why have you been spacing out all day today?” the person across from him asked.
Ji Yifei came back to his senses, touching the spot Shang Yan had flicked. It wasn’t swollen, but it was probably red and felt warm.
He explained, “No, I’m just reviewing the moves before going on stage. I don’t want any more accidents.”
Just then, an announcement came over the speakers for them to prepare; they were the next act.
The words Ji Yifei was about to ask were abruptly swallowed back. He tidied himself up in the mirror one last time and headed backstage to join the others and prepare to go on stage.
Everything proceeded as if perfectly rehearsed, without a hitch, except for the commotion when Shang Yan walked onto the stage and stood beside Ji Yifei.
First, people asked who the person dancing in the center with the school heartthrob was. After it was revealed to be Ji Yifei, the auditorium went wild.
A crowd shouted loudly, and the bolder ones yelled, “School Heartthrob and School Bully are awesome!”
There were also cheers of “Long live the two of you” and similar shouts.
Ji Yifei felt a bit embarrassed. He hadn’t expected such a massive reaction and, for the first time, wanted to hang his head. But he had no time to think; the moves followed one after the other.
The program quickly ended. Ji Yifei rushed to the changing room after getting off stage. He quickly took off the wig and changed clothes. The second-to-last program was the teachers’ chorus. His classmates hadn’t even had time to return and change, having run to the audience seats to watch the performance. He was currently the only one in the changing area.
As he put on his clothes, he couldn’t help but remark, It’s truly cold.
The purple leotard was studded with diamonds of various sizes, and the large backless design made him shiver.
He was regretting that his black down jacket wasn’t nearby. After bracing himself, he opened the door and met a pair of eyes.
Shang Yan was still wearing his performance outfit, holding Ji Yifei’s black down jacket, looking down as he messaged someone. Hearing the door open, he looked up, and his gaze met Ji Yifei’s.
The two were silent for a few seconds until Shang Yan reacted first, handing over the down jacket. Ji Yifei obediently took it and put it on. He looked up again and couldn’t help but smile at the person opposite him.
Ji Yifei jokingly asked, “What’s wrong? You’re unfamiliar with my male appearance after not seeing it for so long?”
Shang Yan shook his head, his expression much calmer, and replied, “I thought you took a trip to Thailand.”
Ji Yifei took a few seconds to understand his meaning and responded with, “Get lost.”
He took the makeup remover to the sink to wash off his makeup, noticing Shang Yan was still following him. He couldn’t help but laugh and commented, “Don’t you dare say it. It’s quite reassuring to have a classical-style handsome man following behind you.”
Shang Yan didn’t directly reply to this. He said, “Hurry up. The teachers’ program will be over soon,” and pulled out a tissue from his pocket, handing it to Ji Yifei to wipe his face.
Ji Yifei wiped his face, and when he looked up again, he was back to Shang Yan’s most familiar appearance. He replied, “It’s fine. The teachers said they’ll be singing a medley, one song after another, with an interactive segment. It won’t be over for at least twenty minutes.” But he sped up anyway, tossing the tissue into the trash can and running off to get his makeup done.
Shang Yan still followed him, but when they got to the makeup area, he remembered he needed to get his glasses and ran off to find them. Ji Yifei called out to him before he left, looking at him without his glasses.
He replied, “It’s okay,” and Shang Yan left.
The person helping him with makeup was no longer the previous artist but a teacher. The teacher was surprised to see him come out like this, beckoned him to sit down, and said with a smile, “Oh my, boys who dance just have a certain aura. With you standing here, I feel like I’m back in the dance halls of my youth.”
This teacher was likely a Grade 10 teacher, in her forties. While talking, she styled Ji Yifei’s hair. She sighed that Ji Yifei resembled the “Little Prince” of their dance hall days and insisted on doing a hairstyle for him.
While styling, she also asked, “Was that Shang Yan just now?”
Ji Yifei nodded, inexplicably explaining, “The teacher was afraid I couldn’t handle everything myself, so she asked him to help me out.”
The teacher smiled and nodded, saying, “You children have such good relationships…”
Sure enough, time was limited. By the time Shang Yan returned, Ji Yifei was almost done. Ji Yifei stood up, looked in the mirror, and asked Shang Yan, “Shang Yan, do I look Alpha-like now?”
Shang Yan nodded and replied, “Yes, you do. If I were an Omega, I would eagerly beg you to date me.”
Ji Yifei laughed and replied, “High praise, high praise,” walking toward the backstage area with him. The teachers’ program was almost finished. He took off his costume and let Shang Yan hold it.
Shang Yan told him, “Good luck. I’ll be waiting for you in the audience.” Right after he said this, the host began the announcement.
Host: “Students, we have one more special program today. Are you all excited?”
The audience responded with a loud shout of “Excited!” The host smiled and announced, “Let’s welcome Classmate Ji Yifei to bring us a wonderful Latin dance performance!”
In an instant, the venue erupted with noise, as if piercing the ceiling.
Ji Yifei took a deep breath and walked onto the stage.
The host stepped down. Ji Yifei raised his head and walked to the center of the stage, the spotlight illuminating him.
Screams constantly erupted from the audience.
He didn’t feel nervous about performing on stage. He had competed in countless events since childhood, but he loved dancing. Focusing on one thing made him very happy.
Even if dance brought him more than just good memories.
Shang Yan had never seen Ji Yifei like this. He knew Ji Yifei could dance and that it was Latin dance. He had watched many male Latin dance videos, imagining Ji Yifei’s face in them. But that feeling was different from the present moment.
The stage lights shone on Ji Yifei’s purple dance outfit. The fitted silhouette and the jewels on the costume were so dazzling that the audience members held their breath.
Shang Yan’s mind was filled with the image of tying the person on stage with black straps, lifting their hands above their head. What kind of expression would that person have?
He was going crazy. Even though his Heat was over, his Alpha instincts were still raging.
The person in his heart used to only appear in his mind, or far away in his sight.
But now, this person was only a stage away. In his heart, Ji Yifei had always been like this.
— Tightly attracting his eyes, captivating him.
The four-minute performance. The atmosphere had been built to its peak. Everyone stared at the person on stage, unable to believe this was the legendary school bully, Ji Yifei.
Some hadn’t even had time to grab their phones to record, and the performance was already over.
Ji Yifei walked off the stage after his curtain call. He felt bl00d pumping through his entire body. Even though he hadn’t practiced for a long time, the feeling was still there.
Someone in the audience asked, “Holy crap, Ji Yifei can do that? I’ve never heard of it!”
The person next to him leaned in and replied, “I’ll tell you secretly, don’t tell anyone else, but I was in the same junior high school as Ji Yifei. He wasn’t here before; he was in City A. He was incredibly famous at our school back then.”
The other person rolled his eyes and replied, “He’s very famous now, too, okay?”
The first person responded, “It’s not the same as now. Back then, he was a true school bully. Piercing his ears, skipping class to go to internet cafes, dyeing his hair—there was no bad deed he didn’t do.”
The person next to him was instantly intrigued, leaning closer and asking, “Holy crap, seriously? Tell me more!”
Shang Yan didn’t return to the audience seats to watch. He was still waiting backstage. As soon as Ji Yifei stepped off the stage, he draped the down jacket over the person who had just performed.
Ji Yifei hadn’t fully recovered. He didn’t feel cold at all; instead, he felt his bl00d boiling.
But when he saw Shang Yan walk over and put the down jacket on him, he didn’t resist.
Walked over, put it on, zipped it up—a seamless motion.
No black straps, but there was a black down jacket.
Ji Yifei was stunned for a moment. In the past, when he finished competitions, the teachers only cared about his score. No one waited for him offstage, caring if he was cold.
It was a cheesy movie scene, but the heart that hadn’t sped up on stage now quickened its pace.
The two stood there in silence. It was Ji Yifei who finally broke it.
“I’m hungry.”
