He is not my Alpha! - Chapter 18
The entire place fell silent.
The expressions of a few people behind Ji Yifei who were ready to watch a show changed.
They had thought it was a confession for School Heartthrob Shang, which would have been a normal occurrence, but they didn’t expect such a bold move this time.
The girl in front of them was actually quite famous, a well-known female Alpha from the track team. Her most famous feat was when a male Alpha provoked her, saying girls shouldn’t be training in track and field, and she immediately challenged him to a race.
They competed in three rounds, and the male Alpha lost all three.
She ended up yelling across the field, “Female Alphas and male Alphas are equal. It’s people like me who stir up gender antagonism that are the lowest class.”
Shang Yan looked at the girl in front of him, and the girl faced him directly.
Yu Ke sensed that the Alpha opposite her had intense eyes. She recognized him as Shang Yan from Class 1.
For this performance, Shang Yan and Ji Yifei were dance partners, but the whole school knew they hadn’t gotten along last semester.
Yet, the look she was getting from the Alpha in front of her suggested that things weren’t that simple now.
“Classmate Shang Yan, could you step aside?” Yu Ke looked at Shang Yan, who was slow to move. She took a step forward, but Shang Yan showed no intention of yielding.
“Shang, you old man, what are you doing? She’s confessing to Ji Yifei. Why are you standing there like a telephone pole?” Li Jiang couldn’t stand it anymore and spoke up. He tried to reach out and pull Shang Yan, but Zhou Tian quickly pulled him back.
He turned to look at Zhou Tian, who gave him a pointed look.
Ji Yifei was stunned to hear those words. Although he had received confessions recently, this was the first one that so bluntly said, “Let me be your Alpha.”
He knew hiding behind Shang Yan wasn’t a solution. He quickly walked out and approached the girl.
Shang Yan watched the person behind him step out and walk forward. He wanted to reach out and pull him back, but he held himself back.
It’s all because of that damn mark, which brought out my Alpha nature. He couldn’t stand seeing “his” Omega walking toward another Alpha.
Yu Ke was surprised to see Ji Yifei walk toward her. She had expected Ji Yifei to reject her from afar and walk away, not to come over.
“Hello, classmate.” Ji Yifei extended his hand. Yu Ke and the people around her were all stunned.
“Hello.” Yu Ke shook his hand. It was the first time she had shaken an Omega’s hand; just as she had imagined, it was very soft.
Ji Yifei politely shook her hand, then politely rejected her.
“You are an excellent female Alpha, but I currently have no plans to date.” With that, he turned and walked toward Shang Yan and the others.
Yu Ke didn’t even have a chance to speak before Ji Yifei had turned and left.
It was different from what she had imagined.
She had expected Ji Yifei, known as the “School Bully,” to find her words offensive, then get into a fight with her, allowing her to defeat him and become the person who defeated the school bully.
She wanted the title to prove herself as a female Alpha. But the other party’s reaction was what truly defeated her.
She felt the lingering warmth in her palm. Clenching her hand, she felt her heart reeling.
Shang Yan had reached his limit the moment Ji Yifei extended his hand to shake hers.
He wanted to rush up, drag Ji Yifei into his arms, and tell the other person, “Sorry, this is my Omega.”
But reason told him he couldn’t do that. He had to respect Ji Yifei and Ji Yifei’s decision.
He and Ji Yifei had an agreement: if either found someone they truly liked, they had to tell the other and quickly terminate their relationship.
An Alpha’s mark can be overwritten. Even though their compatibility was high, it was only a pseudo-permanent mark. If another Alpha were to enter a deeper connection and truly perform a permanent mark on the Omega, the mark between him and Ji Yifei would be completely gone.
He felt a breath caught in his throat, unable to swallow it. It felt like it wanted to climb up his windpipe.
Or perhaps rush to his eyes.
My Heat period is long over, so why am I still so sensitive? Shang Yan complained to himself.
He took off his glasses and breathed onto the lenses. The people behind him were discussing animatedly, but he remained silent.
He looked up, wanting to see what stage the confrontation was at, and saw a figure walking toward him.
He wasn’t wearing his glasses, but he knew it was Ji Yifei.
He put his glasses back on.
Ji Yifei walked over and draped his arm over Shang Yan’s shoulder. Shang Yan’s body went stiff.
“Holy crap, Shang Yan, are you cold? Your face is all red!” Li Jiang saw Shang Yan’s face turn visibly red.
“Sorry, everyone, for making you wait. Let’s keep going.” Ji Yifei hadn’t realized Shang Yan was so cold. He’s always so sensitive to cold himself, yet he mocked me for wearing thick clothes.
Shang Yan just numbly felt the hand resting on his shoulder. He regretted that he had dressed too warmly today.
The group continued walking. Shang Yan adjusted his pace to match the arm resting on his shoulder. He had to ensure he kept pace with the person beside him.
He was afraid if he walked too fast, the hand would be removed.
He felt Ji Yifei’s steps were very slow, so he slowed down too, watching Li Jiang and Zhou Tian get farther and farther ahead, but he maintained his slow pace.
Neither of them spoke. He felt that Ji Yifei was unusually quiet and didn’t want to talk right now.
Why is he resting his arm on me and walking so slowly? Does he have something to tell me?
A thought began to form in his mind, growing larger and larger.
Is he interested in that Alpha and coming to break things off with me?
Does he think the two of them are going too far and want to separate?
Does he want to pursue his own happiness and dump me?
Ji Yifei felt a burst of pheromones when the female Alpha shook his hand earlier.
Although it didn’t have much of an effect on him, he felt a slight discomfort in his scent gland. He knew the mark was fading and he needed Shang Yan to refresh his pheromones.
He draped his arm over Shang Yan’s shoulder, slowly guiding him away from Li Jiang and Zhou Tian. He needed to find a deserted place to ask Shang Yan for help.
This cursed pheromone imbalance disorder…
Because of the mark, he sensed that Shang Yan was in low spirits, so he remained silent as well, also because his scent gland was bothering him.
Finally, at a corner, Ji Yifei walked with Shang Yan into the teaching building and headed to the men’s restroom.
This teaching building was older and had no AB-O segregation.
Once they reached the restroom, he naturally took his hand off Shang Yan’s shoulder. Since the restroom had been abandoned for a long time, there was no smell, only a faint scent of dust in the air.
“Hurry, hurry. I need to ask you for a favor.” Ji Yifei removed his arm from Shang Yan’s shoulder and quickly swung it. He realized for the first time that Shang Yan was so much taller than him; his arm was tired.
Shang Yan stood there blankly, looking at Ji Yifei without speaking.
“What’s wrong with you?” Ji Yifei asked.
“Did you accept her confession and come here to break off our relationship?” Shang Yan asked, looking down.
“What?” Ji Yifei was half-killed by the question. What is this nonsense?
“I didn’t accept her confession. My pheromone disorder is acting up. I’m here for a mark refresh.” Then, to prove his innocence, he unzipped his jacket, reached behind him, tore off the transparent pheromone blocking patch, turned around, and pointed at his scent gland.
The moment the blocking patch was torn off, the scent of jasmine diffused into the air. He saw Ji Yifei’s somewhat red and swollen scent gland.
Shang Yan didn’t speak for a long time, leaving Ji Yifei in that awkward position. In fact, the posture was embarrassing, even bordering on sexual provocation.
Ji Yifei couldn’t control his pheromones right now; they were constantly leaking out, yet the Alpha behind him made no move. He was completely frustrated, ready to give him an earful, but then a pair of hands settled on his shoulders.
This was immediately followed by the familiar process: the scent of mint exploded, along with the pain coming from the back of his neck.
He felt Shang Yan biting harder and harder.
When the two returned to the class, the students had already started self-study, with Chen Ken watching from the podium.
The two consciously returned to their seats, neither of them speaking. They hadn’t said anything on the way back either.
Ji Yifei was silent because Shang Yan had bitten him so hard he genuinely couldn’t speak.
High school life was quite boring, a constant two-point cycle, and time quickly passed.
It was almost Friday, and the class was excited about the upcoming weekend break, constantly whispering during self-study.
Ji Yifei and Shang Yan were going over a problem. It had to be said that Shang Yan was a human learning machine for Ji Yifei, reaching the state of “wherever there is a problem, click here for the answer.”
The quiet murmuring in the class was suddenly interrupted by a loud “Holy crap!” from the back of the room.
This was followed by more “Holy crap!” Chen Ken banged the podium, shouting, “Quiet!” but the noise didn’t subside. Even Li Jiang yelled, “Holy crap!” and then Ji Yifei felt someone forcefully poke him in the back.
But Chen Ken was right in front of Ji Yifei. Ji Yifei suppressed his curiosity, turned around, and reminded Li Jiang, “Aren’t you the Vice Class Monitor? The class is so noisy, why aren’t you managing it?”
“Oh, right.” Li Jiang stood up and shouted, “Everyone be quiet!”
You couldn’t deny the power of a loud voice. Every time Li Jiang yelled, the class quieted down considerably.
After a few minutes of quiet, the dismissal bell rang. Everyone rushed toward the cafeteria. Ji Yifei wanted to go too, but was blocked by Li Jiang.
Shang Yan saw Ji Yifei being blocked and didn’t leave, standing behind him and looking at Li Jiang.
With Shang Yan behind Ji Yifei and Zhou Tian behind Li Jiang, it looked like a 2v2 battle was about to break out.
“What are you guys doing? Why aren’t you leaving?” Han Dongjun was waiting for Ji Yifei, but then he noticed the four idiots standing still. He walked over to join the commotion.
Li Jiang stealthily pulled Ji Yifei down into a squat, gestured for the approaching Han Dongjun to close the door, and then mysteriously pulled out his phone.
He leaned close to Ji Yifei and whispered, “Look, your position as the School Bully is being challenged, don’t you know!”
It was the school forum, with a title that read: 《Who Should Be the True School Bully?》
Ji Yifei saw the title and didn’t want to read it. There had been much debate over the owner of the “School Bully” title over the years, but Ji Yifei simply didn’t care.
But he glanced at Han Dongjun, who had walked over and also squatted down, and the serious look on Li Jiang’s face. He resigned himself and continued to read the post.
“Dear Alphas, Betas, and Omegas, good afternoon. As everyone knows, our High School No. 4 is a key high school, a gathering place for experts. There is currently no doubt about School Heartthrob Shang Yan; his face speaks for itself. But I boldly question ‘School Bully’ Ji Yifei!
P.S.: Ji the Bully’s die-hard fans and severe Omega fixated people are not allowed to flame me!”
Ji Yifei couldn’t help but complain, “What are ‘Ji the Bully’s die-hard fans’… what kind of name is that?”
“Tsk, vulgar homophone pun, ignore it,” Li Jiang replied, urging him to keep reading.
The poster was very serious, listing a whole heap of reasons why Ji Yifei was unfit to be the School Bully, from his gender and appearance to his height and grades.
Ji Yifei was stunned. Was this how others saw me? Even the incident from a few days ago, when he rejected Yu Ke’s confession, was included, the reason being that he was too polite?!
Did the School Bully, in the eyes of this group, have to be someone who smoked, drank, skipped classes, fought, and argued with teachers in class?!
After reading through, Ji Yifei’s summary was: Ji Yifei is too polite, studies too well, and is too kind to be the School Bully.
The comments below were split into two extremes. Many argued that Ji Yifei’s 1v4 incident alone was enough to prove his “bully” capabilities, but even more people posted pictures of Ji Yifei’s performance at the school anniversary, shouting: “You’re telling me this beautiful ‘girl’ is the School Bully? Why are you trying to be a charming contrast?!”
Ji Yifei felt his eyes go completely dark.
Han Dongjun next to him, meanwhile, was rambling on incessantly:
“Are these people idiots?”
“Is being handsome not allowed? Is his face half as handsome as Ji Yifei’s?”
“Damn, is being good at studying not allowed? Could he have gotten into this school if he was bad at studying?”
“Holy crap, Han Dongjun, are you Ji the Bully’s die-hard fan?!” Li Jiang couldn’t help but retort. This guy is literally Ji Yifei’s toxic solo fan, isn’t he?
Shang Yan also crouched down curiously, but couldn’t see the post content. He could only lean closer. He felt Ji Yifei’s hair brush against his face; Ji Yifei’s hair was very soft.
Ji Yifei felt someone lean in behind him. He turned his head and met Shang Yan’s eyes. His ear bumped against Shang Yan’s glasses frame, bringing him face-to-face with Shang Yan.
It was… too close.
He could even feel Shang Yan’s breathing!
He quickly turned his head back, forcing his attention onto the post, but he couldn’t process the words written in the thread anymore.
Shang Yan noticed that Ji Yifei’s ears were always turning red.
The meeting finally ended when Zhou Tian said, “I’m hungry.” Han Dongjun and Li Jiang immediately opened their floodgates, attacking the content of the post point by point.
At the end of his tirade, Li Jiang sighed, It turns out I’m also a “Ji the Bully’s die-hard fan”?!
Ji Yifei repeatedly stated that he didn’t care about the “School Bully” title and that anyone could take it, but Li Jiang and Han Dongjun simply wouldn’t listen and continued their indiscriminate attacks.
They were still ranting on the way back to the dorm. Ji Yifei said goodbye to them outside the Omega dorm. When he returned to his room, Lin Ling, Jiang Jie, and Chen Ken also gathered around, looking at him with worry.
Although he repeatedly waved his hand, indicating he was fine, Lin Ling’s verbal attack on the forum post immediately began.
Ji Yifei even felt that if Lin Ling usually acted this way, the title of School Bully would have been his long ago.
