Heartbeat - Chapter 25
Su Jianyue had no idea her own mother was also complaining about her. Right now, she was anxiously staring at her phone, already half an hour had passed and she still hadn’t received a reply from her sister.
With her head drooping and sighing, Su Jianyue checked her phone screen eight hundred times a second, terrified of missing even a single message.
She pitifully rubbed her eyes, feeling like she was about to cry. If she had known she would make her sister angry, she would have stayed far away and never gotten so close to another omega.
Just as she was lost in her thoughts, Su Jianyue’s phone chimed.
Her eyes lit up, and she frantically unlocked her phone. But after only a quick glance, her head drooped in disappointment. The tone was clearly not her sister’s; judging by the content, it was a message from Yu Lin.
Anonymous: Thank you for taking care of me today. I had a lot of fun. Let’s hang out again sometime.
At the same time, the production team had synchronized the message content to the Live Stream screen, and netizens immediately erupted into heated discussion.
Oh my god, after waiting all this time, we get a message from Yu Lin? That’s even more heartbreaking.
Our baby looks so dejected. I wonder if Shen Xun will text her today.
Did Xiao Yueliang just rub her eyes? Could she have been crying?
Surely not. As an Alpha, she shouldn’t be that prone to tears.
So, was it really because of a fight? Aaaah! I’m dying of suspense!
Su Jianyue placed her phone in front of her, continuing to stare at it with her head bowed, looking like a dejected little puppy.
Moments later, her phone lit up again. She immediately unlocked it, glanced at the notification, and her eyes dimmed once more. It wasn’t a message from her sister.
Anonymous: Even though we couldn’t go on a date today, there will be other chances. You know I’m waiting for you.
The production team immediately synchronized this message to the live stream, sparking another round of online discussion.
This message is from Liang Wenjing to Xiao Yueliang, not her sister! Oh no, is Xiao Yueliang not going to get a message from her sister at all?
The Little Puppy is about to break! So pitiful, yet so adorable! Sniffs loudly
I think Shen Xun is genuinely angry. To be fair, when Shen Xun was with Jiang Ying today, they maintained a clear distance, with no physical contact whatsoever.
Yes, Xiao Yueliang is different. Yu Lin even fed her grilled meat. I wonder if Shen Xun knows about that.
She probably does, otherwise she wouldn’t be so angry.
Just as Su Jianyue was feeling utterly crushed, Shen Xun finally emerged from the shower. In a foul mood, she glanced at her phone and saw three new messages. She opened them one by one.
Anonymous: I’m disappointed you weren’t the one today, but I won’t give up. I hope to see you next time.
Anonymous: I really want a chance to go on a date with you alone. I want to show you my true self.
Shen Xun immediately recognized who these two oily messages were from. She continued reading and saw Su Jianyue’s message.
Little Puppy apologized and even sent a dog wagging its tail emoji. It’s actually quite cute. Where did she even get so many adorable emojis?
Shen Xun stared at Su Jianyue’s message for a long moment, but ultimately decided not to reply.
She wanted Su Jianyue to learn a lesson and stop being ambiguous with other omegas. However, the rules required her to send a “heart-fluttering” message to someone of the opposite gender every night, with no exceptions.
After a moment’s thought, Shen Xun decided to send the message to Jiang Ying, taking the opportunity to thank her for the day’s hospitality.
Anonymous: Thank you for the treat. The coffee today was excellent.
As soon as Shen Xun sent the message, the live stream erupted in chaos.
Holy crap! Shen Xun didn’t message Xiao Yueliang! She messaged Jiang Ying instead!
But… I don’t get any romantic vibes between Shen Xun and Jiang Ying. Their “date” felt more like a future career planning session.
“Future career planning session” LOL! You’re exaggerating, but there’s some truth to it.
I bet Shen Xun sent it to Jiang Ying on purpose, to punish Little Puppy for her behavior today.
If Little Puppy finds out her Master messaged someone else, she’ll cry herself to sleep!
Waaah, let’s hug our baby! Baby, don’t make your Sister angry next time. You can’t win against her.
Our baby is only meant to be teased by her Sister, hehe~
Meanwhile, Jiang Ying sat on the single sofa in her room, looking utterly bewildered. Shen Xun had actually messaged her? This was like the sun rising in the west!
Still, she figured it was just Shen Xun being polite after their date. After a moment’s consideration, Jiang Ying decided it would be rude not to reciprocate, so she sent Shen Xun a message as well.
【Anonymous: You’re welcome. I really enjoyed our conversation today.】
Jiang Ying sent the message, and Shen Xun received it almost immediately. She hadn’t expected Jiang Ying to reply, but Shen Xun guessed it was likely a reciprocal gesture.
With this, she had received messages from four Alphas that evening.
Shen Xun glanced at the camera and said, “It’s already past ten. Time to get some rest. Good night, everyone.”
She then covered the camera with a lens cap.
Meanwhile, in Su Jianyue’s room, Su Jianyue was still staring at her phone, waiting for a message from Shen Xun. By eleven o’clock, no message had arrived.
Unable to hold back any longer, Su Jianyue secretly wiped away tears. She felt like she was about to fall apart. It’s over. Sister definitely doesn’t want me anymore. Waaah!
The more she thought about it, the more heartbroken she became. The image of her sister sending messages to others made tears stream down her face. It’s all my fault! I’ll keep my distance from all omegas from now on. I don’t want Sister to like anyone else.
Sniffling and wiping her tears, Su Jianyue, her eyes red-rimmed, clutched her pajamas and retreated to the bathroom, avoiding any interaction with the camera.
Normally, Su Jianyue would interact with her Live Stream audience for a while.
But when viewers saw her leave in tears, they immediately began to speculate.
Xiao Yueliang is crying! They must have really fought.
Our baby is so pitiful! I just want to cuddle her.
A little puppy abandoned by its owner… so cute! Ahhh, Shen Xun, if you don’t want her, can you give her to me?!
I want her too!
Hmph, you’re all overthinking it. Xunxun is just teaching the little puppy a lesson. She’d never abandon her.
Unaware of the online chatter, Su Jianyue wiped away her tears and obediently washed herself clean.
By the time she emerged from the bathroom, she had finally stopped crying, though her eyes remained red-rimmed. She walked to the camera, waved, and said sweetly, “Good night, everyone.”
Then, she swiftly covered the camera with a black cloth, turned off her microphone, and removed it.
With these tasks completed, she obediently switched off the main light in her room and climbed into bed.
After getting into bed, Su Jianyue stared at her phone, afraid of missing a message from her sister. But the message she was waiting for never came. She waited so long that she forgot to turn off her bedside lamp and eventually fell asleep while still waiting.
Perhaps because she had something on her mind, Su Jianyue woke up around 5 AM.
The first thing she did was check her phone for messages. Unfortunately, Shen Xun hadn’t sent her anything last night.
Su Jianyue felt completely deflated. She listlessly got out of bed, washed up, and got dressed. By the time she was ready, it was only 6 AM.
She wanted to apologize to her sister but was afraid she might still be asleep. So Su Jianyue decided to go out on her own. She sat obediently outside her door, her gaze fixed on Shen Xun’s room.
At this early hour, the personal cameramen for each guest hadn’t arrived yet. However, the corridor cameras were always recording, capturing the entire scene.
One early-rising viewer opened the live stream and watched Su Jianyue while getting ready for the day.
Su Jianyue sat there patiently waiting. When her butt started to ache, she would stand up and pace around a few times, never straying from the left side of the corridor.
Viewers had already begun flooding the screen with bullet comments:
Oh my god, what time did Su Jianyue wake up? Did she even sleep last night?
Our poor baby! She’s been waiting here so obediently since dawn.
Honey, you need to be smarter! Your sister is so possessive. You’d better stay away from all omegas in the future, or you’ll be in for a scolding.
Sniff sniff I love seeing Xiao Yueliang get disciplined. It hits my kink perfectly.
Xiao Yueliang is so adorable! She really looks like a Samoyed puppy, squatting by the door, waiting for her Master to come out.
Shen Xun hadn’t slept well either. The Little Puppy had been disobedient, and she’d given her a cold look last night. She wondered if she’d frightened the Little Puppy.
But she couldn’t bear the thought of the Little Puppy being close to other omegas. Throughout the night, Shen Xun repeatedly asked herself if her possessiveness toward Su Jianyue was too strong. Was this truly the kind of affection a sister should have for her younger sister?
Her mind raced with wild thoughts all night. She even dreamed of the Little Puppy holding hands and hugging someone else. Shen Xun woke up several times, furious with herself, until exhaustion finally dragged her into a deep sleep just as dawn began to break.
On the third day, the production team didn’t assign any tasks, seemingly wanting the guests to rest. As a result, everyone woke up late.
Only Su Jianyue had been sitting by the door since six in the morning, waiting for Shen Xun. By eight o’clock, Chen Zhibin slowly descended from the third floor.
He usually exercised in the morning, and since there was no special task today, he planned to have breakfast and then go for a run.
As Chen Zhibin reached the second floor, he was startled to see Su Jianyue sitting by the door. “What are you doing here?” he asked, taken aback. “You look like a door god.”
Su Jianyue gestured for him to be quiet and whispered, “Keep your voice down. My sister’s still sleeping. Don’t wake her.”
Chen Zhibin stared at her, speechless. It’s just a relationship, he thought. You don’t need to be so intense about it, do you? Camping outside her room this early? Isn’t that a bit much?
“Aren’t you going down for breakfast?” Chen Zhibin asked, unconsciously lowering his voice. “It’d be better to wait downstairs.”
Su Jianyue shook her head. “No, you go ahead. I’ll just wait here for her.”
Chen Zhibin was speechless. Leaving would be awkward, but staying was even more embarrassing. He could only offer a strained laugh and say, “I’ll head downstairs now. You should come down soon too.”
Su Jianyue remained seated, shaking her head with a forlorn expression. She wasn’t going anywhere; she was waiting for her sister.
Seeing she wouldn’t budge, Chen Zhibin had no choice but to slip away.
Over the next while, guests from the upper floors and the right side of the second-floor corridor began to emerge one by one. Some hurried downstairs without noticing Su Jianyue, while others were startled by her presence and stopped to ask what was going on. Su Jianyue brushed them off with vague excuses, simply saying she was waiting for someone.
When Zhao Qifei came downstairs, he also spotted Su Jianyue sitting there. Curious, he asked, “What are you doing here?”
Su Jianyue continued to gesture for silence. “Waiting for my sister.”
“No, but you shouldn’t be waiting on the floor like this!” Good grief, chasing after a girl and camping outside her door? This is getting way too competitive!
“It’s fine,” Su Jianyue replied listlessly. “I’ve been waiting all morning. I’m used to it.”
“Waiting for Shen Xun like this will only put pressure on her. Why don’t we go downstairs for breakfast?” Zhao Qifei had been worried about missing his chance, and Su Jianyue’s competitive behavior only made him more anxious.
Su Jianyue shook her head again. “I can’t eat.”
Zhao Qifei stared at her, speechless. He glanced at his cameraman, realizing he couldn’t just block Shen Xun’s door like Su Jianyue—it would be ungentlemanly. “Then sit here for now,” he said. “I’ll call you when breakfast is ready.”
Zhao Qifei wasn’t being genuinely kind. He only offered to call Su Jianyue to prevent her relationship with Shen Xun from developing further.
Su Jianyue listlessly shook her head, her head drooping. The more she thought about it, the more heartbroken she felt. Is Sister refusing to even leave her room just to avoid me? She didn’t dare knock, afraid of angering her sister.
Just as she was about to burst into tears, Yu Lin came down from the third floor. Seeing Su Jianyue sitting on the floor by the door, she looked over curiously. “Have you had breakfast yet? Why are you sitting on the floor like that?”
Su Jianyue made a shushing gesture. “My sister is still resting.”
Yu Lin paused for a moment before replying, “Oh, then you should go downstairs. What are you waiting here for?”
Su Jianyue shook her head. “You go ahead. I want to wait for her.”
After a moment’s thought, Su Jianyue added, “Also, I won’t be picking up my things from the Pottery Studio. Sorry, I need to focus on comforting my sister first.”
Yu Lin glanced at Su Jianyue, noticing her pale complexion and the faint dark circles under her eyes. She hesitated, then said, “Alright, I’ll get them myself later.”
Yu Lin descended the stairs, feeling a bit annoyed. Just yesterday, she and Su Jianyue had finally grown closer, and now this morning’s incident had thrown everything off. What exactly had Shen Xun said to Su Jianyue last night?
Yu Lin couldn’t figure it out, but she didn’t want to pressure Su Jianyue. After all, it was only the third day of their trip. She still had over ten days to slowly get to know Su Jianyue. Rushing things would only push her away.
Zhao Qifei, aware of Yu Lin’s interest in Su Jianyue, deliberately asked, “What’s going on between Su Jianyue and Shen Xun? I saw Su Jianyue waiting there when I came downstairs at eight this morning, and it’s almost ten now. Why is she still there?”
Yu Lin shook her head. “I don’t know. She said she needs to comfort Shen Xun, but I’m not sure why.”
