Her Eyes Say She Likes You - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Date and Exclusive Name
It was already dusk when Dong Yan sent the revised name file to Wei Jia.
The file transfer successful notification sound had barely faded before her phone vibrated happily less than ten seconds later.
Only Jia: Teacher!!! You finished revising it?! You’re too fast! (Kitten shocked.jpg)
Only Jia: This gaze!!! Yes! That’s the greedy feeling! Ahhh, he’s come alive! (Spinning in place.gif)
Dong Yan looked at the frantically moving kitten emojis on the screen, as if she could see Wei Jia waving her arms on the other end of the phone, and couldn’t help but smile slightly.
Eyes: As long as you think it’s okay.
Only Jia: Not okay! It’s perfect! It’s sublime! (Thumbs up.jpg)
Only Jia: Teacher, you worked hard! Reward! Must reward!
Only Jia: I know a newly opened creative restaurant; their mushroom cream soup tastes like eating clouds! Shall we go try it together? (Puppy pleading eyes.jpg)
Go out… to eat?
Dong Yan’s finger paused above the screen. She was actually more used to going home to cook something simple or ordering takeout, then continuing her work in the quiet night.
But the image of Wei Jia’s sparkling eyes when she talked about “grape-flavored clouds” flashed in her mind, along with the “greedy” comment over the phone that made her ears warm…
She lowered her gaze and lightly tapped the screen.
Eyes: Okay.
Only Jia: !!!
Only Jia: Teacher, you said yes?! (Happy to the point of blurring.jpg)
Only Jia: Sending the address! I’m making a reservation now! See you downstairs in half an hour! (Running away quickly.gif)
Almost simultaneously, new messages popped up in the group chat “The Editor and Her Unlucky Artists.”
Fluoride Code King: Mommy—@GuYu I finished this one panel! Hungry! Food!
Fluoride Code King: (Image: A messy half-finished line draft and a cat meowing at an empty bowl)
Gu Yu: Hmm, what do you want to eat?
Only Jia: [Screenshot – of the conversation with “Eyes,” cautiously showing only the word “Okay” and her own frantic output]
Only Jia: @AllMembers See this? The model student not only submits drafts instantly but also agreed to have dinner with her editor~ (Holding a rose triumphantly.jpg)
Only Jia: Certain “babies” who still need their editor to hand-feed them, take notes~
Fluoride Code King: ???
Fluoride Code King: Wei Jia, you’re getting arrogant!
Fluoride Code King: Mommy! Look at her! (Cat rolling around playing coy.jpg)
Gu Yu: …
Gu Yu: Jia Jia, mind your manners.
Gu Yu: (To Fluoride Code King) Come downstairs. I’m here.
Wei Jia watched Fu Zhi’s outburst and Gu Yu’s usual indulgence in the group chat, and smugly hummed to herself, quickly typing:
Only Jia: @GuYu Sister Yu, this is just normal work communication and emotional maintenance~
Only Jia: Gotta go, time to pick up my model student teacher for dinner~ (Waving.jpg)
She put away her phone, fixed her wolf-tail haircut in the elevator mirror, and then lightly patted her cheeks, trying to make her overly obvious smile subside a bit.
When Wei Jia reached the ground floor of Dong Yan’s studio, she saw Dong Yan push open the glass door and step out. She had changed out of her daytime knit dress and was wearing a light blue shirt and beige casual pants, with a soft cashmere shawl draped over her shoulders. Under the light of the night and the neon signs, she looked exceptionally elegant and gentle.
Wei Jia’s heart rate accelerated again, uncontrollably.
She quickly walked up to her, her eyes bright as if filled with stars: “Teacher!”
Dong Yan looked at her slightly flushed cheeks from the short run and nodded: “Have you been waiting long?”
“No, no! Just arrived!” Wei Jia quickly waved her hands, then very naturally moved to one side, lightly shielding Dong Yan as she led her toward the parking area. “The car is over there. Teacher, that restaurant isn’t far. I heard their pre-meal bread is baked as fluffy as a feather…”
She started describing those abstract yet tempting flavors again.
Dong Yan quietly walked beside her, listening to her lively voice and looking at the road ahead, which was dotted with lights like a river of stars.
The night breeze brushed her face, carrying the warmth of early summer.
She suddenly felt that going out for dinner once in a while… wasn’t bad at all.
