Her Little Mute Omega [Rebirth] - Chapter 12
Mu Jin had kept this childhood photo of herself and Lu Chan, even making a backup copy.
She initially considered using it as her profile picture, but ultimately decided to set it as her phone wallpaper instead.
Looking at Lu Chan’s serious yet adorable little face from their childhood, Mu Jin’s heart softened, feeling as if it might melt.
“Mom, I’m going to the library. I’ll be back tonight,” Mu Jin said, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. She couldn’t resist glancing at her phone wallpaper one last time.
“Are you going with friends?” Yan Zhu asked, her expression slightly stern.
Mu Jin shook her head. “I’m going alone.”
“Alright, come back early,” Yan Zhu said, her face relaxing into a smile.
Just as Mu Jin stepped out the door, she bumped into Ye Xian.
Seeing Mu Jin’s outfit, Ye Xian immediately knew she was headed to the library. Smiling, she said, “Xiao Jin really loves studying! Send Aunt Ye a photo later so I can feel the wonderful atmosphere of the library too.”
Mu Jin chuckled softly and nodded obediently.
After taking the bus to the library, Mu Jin snapped a photo of the building and sent it to Ye Xian with a message: “Aunt Ye, everyone inside is studying, so I can’t take any more pictures.”
“Great! This photo really captures the atmosphere of studying,” Ye Xian replied instantly, adding a smiley face and saving the image.
Opening a social media app, she uploaded the photo with a quick caption: “My friend’s daughter is working so hard! Wishing her success on her postgraduate entrance exam this year.”
After a moment’s thought, Ye Xian added a photo of Mu Jin’s back.
The post had been up for a while, attracting numerous replies, but Lu Chan’s name was conspicuously absent.
Ye Xian immediately called Lu Chan.
As expected, the call was instantly disconnected.
Assuming Lu Chan was in a meeting, Ye Xian sent a message: “Chanchan, hurry and like Mom’s new post! Let’s show Xiao Jin our support for her exam!”
Shortly after sending the message, her post gained a like and a two-word comment: “Go for it!”
Ye Xian couldn’t help but smile, ready to send the address.
But after a moment’s hesitation, she held back.
If Lu Chan truly wanted to come, with her resourcefulness, finding the address based on the photo wouldn’t be difficult at all.
After the meeting, Lu Chan handed her secretary a photo. “Find the address in this photo immediately and send it to me as quickly as possible.”
Seeing Lu Chan’s stern expression, Wen Rou’s heart tightened. She hurriedly opened the photo.
When she saw it was a partial view of a library building, she couldn’t quite believe it. Cautiously, she asked, “President Lu, are you planning to acquire this library?”
Lu Chan shot her a cold glare. “Just find the address.”
Wen Rou flinched, immediately regretting her question. She quickly retreated from the office.
Less than five minutes later, Wen Rou sent the address.
Lu Chan glanced at it once and memorized it.
After finishing her morning work, she postponed all her afternoon appointments to the next day.
“I won’t be here this afternoon. Handle all matters tomorrow. If there’s anything particularly urgent, contact me by phone.” With that, Lu Chan rose and strode out of the office.
Her hurried demeanor suggested she had something important to attend to.
Wen Rou, ever perceptive, refrained from asking further questions.
In recent weeks, everyone had been working overtime at Lu Chan’s insistence, completing many tasks ahead of schedule. As a result, there were virtually no urgent matters requiring immediate attention.
Wen Rou relayed the news to each department and quickly received confirmations.
She stepped out to share the good news with her colleagues. Everyone stopped working in surprise, excitedly whispering among themselves.
Seeing the relaxed atmosphere, Wen Rou didn’t reprimand them.
This team had been personally assembled by Lu Chan to handle the company’s core business, though they also handled other tasks as needed.
While Lu Chan oversaw all company affairs, she often consulted with department managers and sought their opinions on major decisions.
In essence, these elite members formed a new core team centered around Lu Chan.
They answered only to her.
Even Chairman Lu lacked the authority to arbitrarily dismiss them.
Lu Chan drove to the library and immediately recognized the building from the photos she had seen.
She glanced at the time—noon. Mu Jin should be coming out for lunch soon.
After waiting in her car for a while, a charming figure indeed appeared at the library entrance.
Mu Jin wore a short white dress that barely covered her knees. A smiley face was printed on the chest, giving her a simple yet lively look.
Oblivious to Lu Chan’s presence, Mu Jin headed to a nearby fast-food restaurant for lunch.
Lu Chan watched her disappear before heading upstairs to the library.
She remembered that Mu Jin had attended a prestigious domestic university, majoring in bioinformatics. However, she didn’t know the specific research direction Mu Jin had pursued during her postgraduate studies.
After marrying Lu Chan, Mu Jin had been forced by the Lu Family to abandon her studies and career, becoming a full-time housewife.
Lu Chan didn’t know what Mu Jin had felt when she sacrificed her dreams to marry her, but this time, she wouldn’t let Mu Jin make such a sacrifice again.
Lu Chan went to the fifth floor, wandered through the bookshelves, and finally settled in a corner hidden from the reading area. She grabbed a book at random and began to read.
Mu Jin had just finished eating when Ye Xian called.
“Xiao Jin, are you tired from studying? Remember to look up and stretch your neck and body after reading for a long time,” Ye Xian said with a smile, deliberately emphasizing the words “look up.”
“Thank you for your concern, Aunt Ye. I’m not tired at all. I just finished eating and am about to get back to studying,” Mu Jin replied, her lips curving into a smile.
A look of disappointment flashed across Ye Xian’s face, with a hint of confusion in her eyes.
She had learned from her secretary that Lu Chan had already left the house.
Based on the timing, the two should have met and eaten together by now.
Yet Mu Jin’s words clearly indicated that she hadn’t seen Lu Chan.
Ye Xian frowned inwardly but maintained her smile. “Keep up the good work, Xiao Jin! And remember to look up and stretch your neck often.”
Mu Jin obediently agreed and got up to go to the library.
Having finished the book she’d been reading that morning, she needed to find a new one.
As she approached the bookshelf, she noticed a figure sitting in the corner. Mu Jin froze in surprise, her heart pounding wildly in her chest.
She hurriedly covered her mouth and ducked behind the bookshelf.
Once her heart had calmed, Mu Jin cautiously peeked out, her wide, round eyes fixed on the figure in the corner.
The person sat with perfect posture, long legs crossed, clad in a floor-length black dress that exuded both nobility and elegance.
Slender, graceful fingers held a book, their owner seemingly engrossed in reading, oblivious to the many furtive glances directed their way.
Suddenly, the page turned, and the eyes that had been fixed on the paper lifted slightly.
Startled, Mu Jin quickly ducked back, pretending to browse the shelves.
Glancing upward, she spotted the book she needed, though it was just out of reach.
She stood on tiptoe, stretching her fingers, and finally managed to touch the corner of the book.
But just as she was about to pull it down, a pair of slender hands snatched it away first.
Mu Jin turned to face a cold, haughty, yet breathtakingly beautiful face.
