Her Little Mute Omega [Rebirth] - Chapter 33
To demonstrate their sincerity and commitment, Meng Chuan, accompanied by Ye Xiangxing, personally visited Lu Corporation’s headquarters for the collaboration negotiations.
Lu Chan was slightly surprised but, after a moment’s consideration, decided to handle the negotiations herself.
Within an hour, the collaboration agreement was finalized.
Lu Chan shook hands with Meng Chuan and personally escorted them to the entrance.
Wen Rou, still somewhat surprised, couldn’t help but ask in a low voice, “President Lu, such business collaborations usually don’t require your personal involvement. Moreover, this contract is for 300 million yuan. The finance department might have some difficulties…”
Wen Rou trailed off, but Lu Chan understood perfectly.
The Old Master still held the company’s financial reins. He would never approve a 300 million yuan “charitable donation.”
“You handle the payment arrangements. I’ll deal with the Chairman,” Lu Chan said coldly.
“Understood, President Lu. I’ll keep a close eye on them,” Wen Rou nodded solemnly.
Although President Lu was the CEO, managing the entire company, she often faced restrictions from the board of directors.
Particularly for large sums, the Chairman’s approval was required before the finance department would release the funds.
Every major project became a battle for power within the company.
This time, it was likely to be another bloody struggle.
Wen Rou’s donation request had just been submitted to the finance department when the Old Master’s call came through.
A cold smile curled Lu Chan’s lips. She waited a few seconds before answering, “Grandfather, what is it?”
“What is it? How dare you unilaterally donate three hundred million without authorization! If I hadn’t caught this in time, who would have covered such a loss?” The Old Master’s furious roar echoed through the phone.
Lu Chan had anticipated this reaction and responded calmly, “Grandfather, since you entrusted the company to me, I’ve earned the Lu Family over ten billion. As the CEO of Lu Corporation, shouldn’t I have the authority to approve a mere three hundred million? If word of this gets out, people will laugh at me.”
Her words silenced Lu Wensheng.
The Old Master valued face above all else, especially the Lu Family’s reputation, which he refused to let be tarnished under any circumstances. Lu Chan’s words had struck his most vulnerable spot.
“Three hundred million is no small sum. You’re still young and don’t understand the complexities involved. I’m only trying to protect you from being taken advantage of,” Lu Wensheng sighed, his angry tone softening considerably.
Yet his hawk-like eyes still burned with anger and resentment.
This wasn’t the first time Lu Chan had acted recklessly, but it was the first time she had unilaterally authorized such a massive expenditure without prior consultation.
Especially since this sum was practically a donation.
It was almost as audacious as her father’s actions.
“If Grandfather believes I’m not up to the task, he’s free to choose someone else,” Lu Chan replied calmly.
“You’re the eldest daughter of the Lu Family and a rare S-Class Alpha. Right now, you’re the only one qualified for this position,” Lu Wensheng insisted, his face still flushed with anger.
Lu Chan’s lips curved slightly. “Thank you for your confidence, Grandfather. I have matters to attend to. I expect the 300 million yuan to be transferred by tomorrow.”
Sensing his impending objection, Lu Chan continued, “The company’s current cash flow is ample. If we expedite the process, the transfer could be completed by this afternoon.”
With that, she completely cut off Lu Wensheng’s attempts to intervene.
Though Lu Chan didn’t hold formal authority, she possessed the clearest understanding of the company’s affairs, making it impossible to deceive her with excuses.
“Fine, you’re the company president. Naturally, we’ll follow your wishes,” Lu Wensheng said with a forced smile before slamming down the phone.
He opened a drawer, retrieved a photo album, and pointed a withered finger at a person in the album. “Lu Chan is becoming increasingly disobedient. I hope she doesn’t follow in your footsteps.”
After finishing her morning work, Lu Chan received a message from Ye Xiangxing:
“Xiao Jin’s differentiation results are in. She’s an extremely rare S-Class Omega!” Ye Xiangxing added a surprised emoji at the end.
Lu Chan smiled faintly. Just as she was about to forward the good news to Mu Jin, Mu Jin called her.
She answered immediately.
“Sister Chan, my differentiation results are in! I’m an S-Class Omega!” Mu Jin said excitedly, her voice bubbling with joy.
Even through the phone, Lu Chan could feel Mu Jin’s happiness, which instantly eased her own mood.
“Congratulations, Xiao Jin,” Lu Chan said, leaning back comfortably in her chair. The coldness in her expression softened as she asked, “Have you gotten the official report yet?”
“Sister Xiangxing said she’ll bring it over,” Mu Jin replied with a light laugh.
Lu Chan frowned slightly. After a moment’s thought, she said, “She’ll be busy this afternoon. I’ll take you to the hospital to get the report myself.”
Mu Jin blinked in confusion but didn’t press further, agreeing with a smile.
After ending the call, Lu Chan immediately texted Wen Rou: “Take the materials and meet Meng Chuan and Ye Xiangxing. Discuss the specifics with them for at least three hours.”
“Understood, President Lu,” Wen Rou replied, puzzled.
The collaboration had already been finalized, with all terms agreed upon. There was no need for further discussion.
However, she would naturally fulfill her superior’s request.
Suppressing her confusion, Wen Rou called Meng Chuan, gathered the documents, and left the office.
Shortly after, Mu Jin received a message from Ye Xiangxing:
“I’m so sorry, Xiao Jin! Old Meng suddenly needs me for something urgent, so I won’t be able to pick up your test results. I’m so disappointed—I wanted to be the first to share this wonderful news with you.”
“It’s okay, Sister Xiangxing. I was planning to go to the hospital myself anyway. You go ahead and take care of your work,” Mu Jin replied, adding a cute smiley emoji.
Seeing the joyful smile on Mu Jin’s face, Yan Zhu asked suspiciously, “Xiao Jin, are you chatting with Miss Lu?”
Mu Jin shook her head, then nodded. After a moment’s hesitation, she carefully said, “Mom, Sister Chan is coming to pick me up later to go to the hospital for the results.”
“I’ll go with you. There’s no need to trouble her,” Yan Zhu frowned, her displeasure evident. “Now that your differentiation results are confirmed, you should focus on preparing for your postgraduate entrance exam. Otherwise, your only option will be marriage.”
“But I already promised Sister Chan,” Mu Jin said, her lips pressed into a thin line as she lowered her head in distress.
“Xiao Jin, Miss Lu is the CEO of Lu Corporation. We’ve already caused her so much trouble recently. How can we ask for more? Even if she’s willing, we can’t just take her kindness for granted,” Yan Zhu scolded sternly, her face rigid.
She knew Mu Jin was a proud and conscientious girl. Normally, Mu Jin would politely decline any offers of help, maintaining a proper social distance with strangers. But with Lu Chan, Mu Jin showed no reserve, accepting her kindness without hesitation, completely disregarding the boundaries one should maintain with outsiders.
“Mom…” Mu Jin’s crimson lips parted slightly, her dark eyes shimmering with hurt.
“Call Miss Lu and tell her not to come,” Yan Zhu insisted, her tone almost commanding.
Mu Jin pressed her lips together, shook her head vehemently, and fled into her room.
Yan Zhu sighed, her weathered face etched with worry.
Mu Jin’s differentiation results would soon become public knowledge, and the small shop was destined to face turmoil. Yan Zhu wasn’t even sure she could ensure Mu Jin could focus on her studies and graduate school applications in peace. If the Yan Family learned of this, she and her daughter would likely lose all control over their lives.
Lu Chan drove to the dessert shop.
While waiting at a red light, she received a call from Ye Xian.
“Chanchan, Xiao Jin’s differentiation results should be out by now. Your aunt and I are having tea and can’t get away to pick them up. Could you go in my place and get the report for Xiao Jin?”
“Understood,” Lu Chan replied, hanging up.
As the light turned green, she started the car.
Ten minutes later, Lu Chan’s car pulled up in front of the dessert shop.
She got out and walked straight to the cashier, asking politely but with a cool demeanor, “Aunt Yan, where’s Xiao Jin?”
“Miss Lu, please come with me. I need to talk to you,” Yan Zhu said gravely, her expression darkening.
Lu Chan glanced inside before obediently following.
In a quieter corner, Yan Zhu stopped, turned around, and spoke with solemn sincerity, “Miss Lu, I hope you won’t come looking for Xiao Jin again. Our family matters are none of your concern, and we don’t want to trouble you.”
Lu Chan had anticipated this conversation.
But hearing Yan Zhu say it aloud still made her heart clench.
“Miss Lu, we’re just ordinary people. We can’t afford to associate with the Lu Family. I hope you’ll show us some mercy,” Yan Zhu said, her expression growing even more serious. She gave Lu Chan a deep, meaningful look before turning and walking away.
Lu Chan stood rooted to the spot, her eyes heavy with thought.
She understood the deeper meaning behind Yan Zhu’s words.
Noble families valued bloodlines above all else, and their primary purpose in selecting high-quality Omegas was to produce offspring.
Even her own mother, born into the prestigious Ye Family, hadn’t escaped being reduced to a political marriage pawn.
In the Old Master’s eyes, an Omega marrying into the Lu Family served only one purpose: to bear children.
Not even her mother was exempt from this expectation.
In her previous life, Mu Jin had married her as another sacrifice in a political alliance.
Mu Jin had meticulously navigated the Lu Family’s customs, striving to fulfill the Old Master’s expectations as the eldest granddaughter-in-law.
Yet, because she failed to conceive for so long, she endured constant scolding from the Old Master and ridicule from others.
Lu Chan cared little about having children, but Mu Jin was suffocating under the pressure from the Lu Family elders.
This time, Lu Chan vowed to prevent Mu Jin from reliving that tragedy.
But she was determined to marry Mu Jin.
No one would stop her.
Lu Chan turned and returned to her car.
After waiting a few minutes, Mu Jin and Yan Zhu emerged, seemingly headed to the hospital.
When Mu Jin spotted Lu Chan’s car, her eyes lit up, and she eagerly raised her hand to greet her.
Yan Zhu immediately glared at her, stopping her mid-gesture.
Mu Jin reluctantly lowered her hand, her gaze fixed on Lu Chan’s direction.
Yan Zhu hailed a taxi and pulled Mu Jin into the back seat.
She knew Lu Chan would follow.
