Her Little Mute Omega [Rebirth] - Chapter 34
Upon arriving at the hospital, Lu Chan parked the car and stood by the entrance, waiting.
When she saw Yan Zhu and Mu Jin approaching, she stepped aside and politely greeted, “Aunt Yan.”
Aunt Yan immediately felt stifled, her face hardening as she ignored the greeting.
She couldn’t understand it.
Given Lu Chan’s family background and status, she had always been the one pursued, never needing to curry favor with others. In fact, it could be said she was deigning to lower herself.
Lu Chan, with her proud and arrogant nature, should have left after being rebuked so harshly.
“Sister Chan,” Mu Jin called out with a gentle smile, waving her hand, a faint blush coloring her cheeks.
Lu Chan nodded, her expression remaining composed.
She maintained a respectful distance, silently following behind.
Even without speaking, her commanding presence and breathtaking beauty made her impossible to ignore.
Mu Jin occasionally glanced back, her lips curving into an endearing smile.
Lu Chan’s heart softened slightly, her demeanor relaxing almost imperceptibly.
The line for retrieving test results was long, like a winding dragon. Only one person could enter at a time, emerging after three to five minutes.
At the current rate, Mu Jin and her mother would have to wait over an hour.
“Mom, why don’t you go rest over there? I’ll wait in line,” Mu Jin said sweetly, her gaze darting backward.
Due to the queue, Lu Chan was standing right behind them.
They weren’t far apart; she could reach out and touch her.
Yan Zhu noticed the movement, her brow furrowing. With a tense expression, she said coldly, “I’m not tired. We’ll go home after getting the report.”
“Okay,” Mu Jin replied obediently, nodding with a radiant smile.
Her delicate, curved eyes and rosy cheeks made her look utterly adorable.
Lu Chan, standing close by, saw everything clearly with her sharp, cool gaze.
She wanted to reach out and ruffle Mu Jin’s soft hair.
Her fingers twitched, but she suppressed the urge.
“Mom, wait here. I’ll go buy two bottles of water,” Mu Jin said a moment later, her bright eyes darting around.
She kept fidgeting, like a restless rabbit eager to find any excuse to hop away.
Yan Zhu understood the underlying meaning and emphasized her tone, “Stay in line and don’t think about anything else.”
“But Mom, I’m so thirsty…” Mu Jin blinked, adopting a pitiful expression.
She deliberately pursed her lips after speaking.
Yan Zhu’s heart softened immediately. Glancing around, she said, “You wait here quietly. I’ll go get the water.”
Mu Jin pursed her lips, wanting to refuse.
Under Yan Zhu’s stern gaze, she could only nod.
“Aunt Yan, I’ll go get the water,” Lu Chan suddenly offered.
Before Yan Zhu could object, she put away her phone and turned to leave.
Yan Zhu was taken aback, sighing inwardly.
She truly couldn’t understand Lu Chan’s intentions.
Lu Chan stood before the vending machine, pulled out her phone, and glanced at it.
A new message from Ye Xian read: “Xiao Zhuzhu likes plain water, Mu Jin prefers lime-flavored drinks—the ones that smell like your pheromones. Don’t get the wrong ones!”
The word “lime” made Lu Chan’s heart race, and a tingling sensation spread through her glands.
She suddenly felt parched.
Following Ye Xian’s instructions, she bought two bottles of water and added a third bottle of plain water.
“Don’t drink any water until Aunt Yan has had hers. And be quick to help her open the bottle!”
Lu Chan paused, frowning as she typed, “Can’t they open the bottles themselves?”
“It’s not about whether they can open them! It’s about showing respect and sincerity!”
“Got it,” Lu Chan replied, tucking her phone away and grabbing the water.
She stood at the edge of the crowd and saw a man standing beside Mu Jin, his handsome face beaming.
Nearby, Yan Zhu was chatting with a woman who seemed familiar.
Lu Chan’s eyes narrowed, her grip tightening on the water bottles as she strode forward.
“Yan Zhu, your Xiao Jin must have differentiated into an Omega, right? Perfect! My son is an Alpha, an A-Class one at that. Let them meet and become friends,” the woman said with a beaming smile, her slightly plump face radiating pride.
“There’s no need,” Yan Zhu replied coldly. “Xiao Jin is preparing for graduate school and isn’t considering marriage at the moment.”
“What’s the point of an Omega studying so much? Marriage and childbearing should be her priorities. My son is an A-Class Alpha—plenty of people want to marry him. I only brought this up because Mu Jin is well-behaved and pretty. I wouldn’t bother with just anyone,” the woman said in a lecturing tone, clicking her tongue. “Besides, your daughter is mute. She should be grateful anyone would overlook that. Don’t be so picky.”
This struck Yan Zhu’s sore spot, and she bristled. “My daughter’s circumstances are none of your concern. If you think your son is so precious, go find the daughter-in-law you want and leave Xiao Jin alone.”
“How dare you speak to me like that? I was being perfectly polite, and you’re acting so unreasonable! Your daughter is mute—what’s wrong with pointing that out?” The woman’s eyes widened in anger, her loud voice carrying to everyone in the queue.
Many heads turned their way.
Yan Zhu burned with humiliation and fury, but she forced herself to remain calm and avoid escalating the situation.
Mu Jin tried to argue, but Yan Zhu stopped her.
In this situation, making a scene would only give more people something to mock.
“What, you’ve gone mute too? Even if you begged me, I’d never let my precious son marry a mute,” the woman sneered triumphantly, shoving Yan Zhu aside.
Yan Zhu, caught off guard, stumbled. Fortunately, Mu Jin was behind her to steady her, preventing a fall.
“Apologize,” Lu Chan’s icy voice cut through the air.
The woman startled, meeting Lu Chan’s cold gaze. Fear flashed in her eyes as she yanked her son forward, shouting defensively, “Who are you? What right do you have to demand an apology?”
Her words drew curious glances from the crowd. Emboldened by the attention, the woman’s expression turned arrogant. “Don’t think you can bully us poor people just because you’re wearing designer clothes. My son is an A-Class Alpha!”
“I’ll ask one last time: will you apologize?” Lu Chan’s expression grew even colder.
Mindful of being in a hospital, she refrained from releasing her pheromones as a display of dominance.
The woman cowered behind her son, yelling, “Apologize for what? She’s a mute anyway… Ah!”
Before she could finish, Lu Chan flung her aside with a single hand, sending her crashing onto the hard floor.
“Someone’s trying to kill me! Help!” The woman wailed, sprawled on the ground.
Her son flew into a rage, rolling up his sleeves and swinging a fist at Lu Chan.
Lu Chan tilted her head, effortlessly dodging the blow, and kicked the man squarely in the abdomen.
His face twisted in agony as he crumpled to his knees, unable to rise.
“Sister Chan…” Mu Jin rushed over, her voice filled with concern, and gently tugged at Lu Chan’s arm.
“It’s nothing. I’ll just need to rest in the hospital for a couple of days,” Lu Chan said calmly.
“How dare you hit my son?” The woman stood up fiercely, grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher, and swung it at Lu Chan.
Lu Chan immediately shielded Mu Jin behind her.
This time, she showed no restraint, kicking the woman’s wrist with full force.
The fire extinguisher clattered loudly to the floor.
Hospital security guards swiftly arrived. After hearing the chaotic accounts from the crowd, they understood the situation and forcibly removed the mother and son for disrupting hospital order.
As the woman was dragged away, she continued to wail and scream.
Lu Chan, as the one who had struck the first blow, was escorted to the security office.
“Mom, will Sister Chan be okay?” Mu Jin asked anxiously, her worried eyes fixed on the direction Lu Chan had been taken.
“She’ll be fine,” Yan Zhu reassured softly, lowering her gaze and sighing sadly.
If Lu Chan hadn’t intervened today, they would have had to swallow their anger and endure the humiliation.
Omegas held high social status but lacked the power to protect themselves, especially Mu Jin, who was mute.
As a Beta with little influence, Yan Zhu knew that even if the Alpha’s provocation was unjustified, arguing would only put them at a disadvantage.
Only Alphas could truly protect Omegas.
This was a truth she was unwilling to admit, yet forced to acknowledge.
After retrieving the test results, Mu Jin didn’t have time to celebrate. She immediately pulled Yan Zhu toward the security office.
The inner door was ajar, but the security guard refused to let them enter.
Mu Jin peered anxiously inside, her dark eyes growing misty with worry.
“Xiao Jin, don’t be so nervous. Miss Lu will be fine,” Yan Zhu reassured her softly, her own face showing signs of fatigue. “I asked Sister Xian, and she said there’s nothing to worry about.”
“I…” Mu Jin’s lips trembled, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She knew, of course, that someone with Lu Chan’s status and influence would never come to harm.
But until she saw Lu Chan with her own eyes, she couldn’t truly put her mind at ease.
After about ten minutes, Lu Chan’s tall figure emerged from the office.
Mu Jin’s eyes stung, and she immediately rushed forward, throwing herself into Lu Chan’s arms, tears streaming down her face.
Lu Chan froze for a moment, surprised.
Feeling the soft body pressed against her, the corners of her lips curved slightly upward. She gently stroked Mu Jin’s hair and murmured, “Did you get the test results?”
“Yes…” Mu Jin nodded, her lips pressed tightly together.
Realizing the impulsive action she had just taken, Lu Chan’s face flushed crimson as she stood up awkwardly.
Yan Zhu watched, sighing heavily inwardly. Mu Jin’s feelings for Lu Chan ran deeper than she had imagined.
“Miss Lu, thank you for today,” Yan Zhu said stiffly, her expression complex.
“You’re welcome,” Lu Chan replied coolly, lowering her gaze thoughtfully. She then reached out and draped an arm around Mu Jin’s shoulder. “The Public Security Bureau is still open. I’ll take you both to get new ID cards.”
“This…” Yan Zhu opened her mouth to refuse, but the words caught in her throat.
Mu Jin was now an S-Class Omega, and it was true that she needed an Alpha by her side when out in public.
If she were an Omega from another family, she would undoubtedly have an Alpha guardian watching over her.
But Mu Jin had lost her father at the age of five, and she had severed ties with the Yan Family, leaving her with no one to turn to for help.
Both Yan Zhu and Mu Jin’s father were Betas. It was astonishing that two Betas could produce a rare S-Class Omega.
This was something Yan Zhu had never anticipated.
With Lu Chan’s assistance, the process of obtaining Mu Jin’s Secondary Gender identification went smoothly.
While grateful, Yan Zhu’s anxiety only deepened.
“Mom, what’s wrong? You’ve been looking so preoccupied ever since we left the hospital,” Mu Jin asked with concern.
“I’m fine,” Yan Zhu forced a smile, her gaze complex as she glanced at Lu Chan.
Lu Chan startled.
She braced herself for another weighty revelation, but Yan Zhu merely sighed softly.
After dropping the pair off at the dessert shop, Lu Chan tactfully refrained from joining them.
She checked her phone and saw over a dozen messages from Ye Xian.
Scanning through them quickly, Lu Chan’s eyes widened at the final message:
“Chanchan, have you and Xiao Jin tested your compatibility yet?”
