Her Little Mute Omega [Rebirth] - Chapter 41
Lu Chan dropped Mu Jin off at the entrance of the dessert shop.
After parking the car, she glanced outside and immediately spotted Ye Xian and Yan Zhu standing by the door, seemingly waiting for them—or rather, waiting for Mu Jin to return.
“Sister Chan, thank you for the ride,” Mu Jin said, unbuckling her seatbelt with a sweet smile.
“You’re welcome,” Lu Chan replied with a nod, opening the car door.
As Mu Jin stepped out, Lu Chan followed suit, getting out of the car and walking behind her.
Reaching the pair, Lu Chan nodded politely and greeted, “Aunt Yan.”
Yan Zhu nodded slightly, her worried gaze fixed on Mu Jin.
“Mom, I’m back!” Mu Jin exclaimed with a cheerful smile, stepping forward to give Yan Zhu a light hug. She winked playfully, adding, “It’s not too late, is it?”
“It’s only eight o’clock. I thought you’d be back around ten,” Ye Xian interjected with a smile.
Yan Zhu looked at Lu Chan with a hint of helplessness, nodded, and murmured, “Thank you for your trouble, Miss Lu.”
Lu Chan’s heart tightened, but she maintained her composure and replied, “Aunt Yan, you’re welcome.”
“It’s getting late,” Yan Zhu continued. “You should head back early. Be careful on the road.”
Though her tone was gentle, the implication that they should leave was clear.
Mu Jin pressed her lips together, her eyes lingering on Lu Chan with reluctance.
Just as she was about to suggest they stay longer, Yan Zhu subtly tugged at her arm. Mu Jin lowered her head, reluctantly releasing her typing hands.
Seeing this, Ye Xian chuckled softly and chimed in, “We’ll head back now. You two can take your time with your work.”
“Goodbye, Aunt Yan,” Lu Chan said with a slight nod before turning to get into the car.
Ye Xian sat in the back. Once the car had driven a short distance, she leaned forward, gripping the back of Lu Chan’s seat and asked with a grin, “Chanchan, why are you back so soon? Didn’t you do anything besides eat?”
“Like what?” Lu Chan retorted, her expression blank.
Ye Xian’s words immediately reminded her of the conversation she’d overheard in the private room, stirring a wave of irritation within her.
“We could watch a movie, go shopping, or just take a walk,” Ye Xian said with a smile, a hint of amusement flickering across her face. “Little Boss Lu, you don’t mean you’re unfamiliar with such a basic date itinerary, do you?”
“A date?” Lu Chan frowned slightly, a flicker of confusion in her eyes. “It’s just dinner.”
Ye Xian’s smile faltered. After a long silence, she sighed and settled back into her seat.
In the business world, Lu Chan was shrewd and insightful, always able to discern her opponents’ intentions. But when it came to pursuing someone romantically, she was as clueless as a block of wood.
How could she not recognize such an obvious date?
If she could apply even a fraction of her business acumen to matters of the heart, she would have won her target over long ago.
Through the rearview mirror, Lu Chan caught Ye Xian’s expression of pity. Her eyes narrowed as she asked in a low voice, “So, this is a date?”
Ye Xian rolled her eyes in response.
Lu Chan’s expression darkened, a pang of regret rising within her.
It seemed she needed to buy some books and study up on this.
