Her Little Mute Omega [Rebirth] - Chapter 5
Lu Chan sat in the car, her expression grave, her eyes fixed on the dessert shop without blinking.
Only when a graceful figure emerged from within did a faint smile finally flicker across her aloof face.
Her gaze remained locked on that figure as it paused before a small flowerbed. Lu Chan leaned forward, straining to see what the person was doing, though her angle only allowed her to glimpse a profile.
If she wasn’t mistaken, Mu Jin was feeding a cat.
Mu Jin adored small animals, but the Lu family forbade pets, keeping only two massive Tibetan mastiffs as guard dogs. These ferocious beasts deterred most people from approaching. Lu Chan had always kept Mu Jin away from them to prevent accidents.
Perhaps this time, she could buy Mu Jin a small pet to keep her company.
As Lu Chan happily planned for the future, she noticed a stranger blocking Mu Jin’s path.
Mu Jin faced her directly, her small face betraying clear resistance and tension.
Lu Chan’s eyes narrowed dangerously. With a cold expression, she got out of the car, slamming the door shut, her S-Class Alpha pheromones radiating intensely.
The surrounding pedestrians immediately felt the oppressive aura. Many glanced at Lu Jin in alarm and froze in place, halting their steps.
The reporter also sensed the chilling presence. His heart turned to ice, but before he could turn around to speak, he was flung backward by an invisible force.
Staggering, he steadied himself against a wall, suppressing his fear as his gaze darted between Lu Chan and Mu Jin. Forcing a smile, he asked, “Miss, do you know Miss Mu Jin?”
“Which news agency are you from?” Lu Chan frowned, her eyes radiating a commanding chill as she unleashed a controlled burst of Alpha pheromones. “Does your agency even provide basic training? Using coercive tactics to interview people?”
“I…” The man tried to explain with a strained smile, but the overwhelming pressure choked his words. Instinctively, he clung to the wall and fled.
Lu Chan casually snapped a photo and sent it to Wen Rou, typing with an impassive expression: “Find out which news agency this man belongs to. Send me the contact information for the agency’s owner.”
“Understood, President Lu. I’ll send it to you in two hours,” Wen Rou replied instantly.
Lu Chan put away her phone and turned to face Mu Jin, her heart brimming with unspoken words. Yet, she managed only a cool, “Are you alright?”
“Thank you, Miss Lu. I’m fine,” Mu Jin replied with a sweet smile, her curved lips revealing two adorable dimples.
“Mm,” Lu Chan nodded.
For a moment, she didn’t know what to say.
In the past, Mu Jin had always initiated conversations, leaving Lu Chan to simply respond, often with just a nod. Their conversations typically revolved around daily life. Having to strike up a conversation with Mu Jin as if they were strangers felt awkward.
“Miss Lu, my family’s dessert shop is just ahead. Aunt Ye is waiting for you inside,” Mu Jin said cheerfully, her bright, dark eyes sparkling with lively energy.
Lu Chan nodded and followed behind her.
Her mother and Mu Jin’s mother had been close friends since childhood, often spending entire afternoons at this dessert shop. Sometimes, they would even brave fierce storms to visit.
By this time, the dessert shop was starting to fill up, and the empty seats were gradually disappearing.
Ye Xian sat by the window and immediately smiled brightly, waving to two figures passing by.
Mu Jin waved back through the glass, her face beaming with a radiant smile.
Lu Chan, however, remained expressionless, her gaze sweeping over the room before quickly looking away.
As soon as she entered, numerous admiring glances turned her way.
Everyone present could sense the powerful Alpha aura emanating from Lu Chan.
“Excuse me, are you an A+ Class Alpha?” an Omega boldly approached, her face flushed with excitement.
Her companion shyly tugged at her sleeve, but her curious eyes couldn’t help stealing glances at Lu Chan.
Lu Chan didn’t respond. She moved through the crowd to Yan Zhu and greeted her politely, “Aunt Yan.”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted to Mu Jin, who was bent over a piece of paper, writing intently and seemingly unaware of her presence.
Lu Chan had no choice but to withdraw her gaze and turn to Yan Zhu, offering a polite nod.
Yan Zhu froze, glancing at Ye Xian in confusion. But Ye Xian’s surprise was no less than her own.
Though Yan Zhu had often heard Ye Xian mention Lu Chan, this was only their second meeting.
Their first encounter had been over a decade ago, and Lu Chan likely wouldn’t even remember it.
“Good day, Miss Lu,” Yan Zhu replied with a polite smile.
Although Lu Chan was Ye Xian’s daughter, she was also the CEO of Lu Corporation—not an ordinary child. Yan Zhu couldn’t treat her like a regular person.
Moreover, Lu Chan was an S-Class Alpha, making it even more crucial not to underestimate her.
“Chanchan, you’re so biased! You don’t even greet your own mother when I’m right here,” Ye Xian huffed playfully, stepping forward to loop her arm through Lu Chan’s.
Meeting Lu Chan’s cold gaze, Ye Xian pouted dramatically. Turning to the two girls, she said with a smile, “Not A+ Class—S-Class.”
She mouthed the final “S” silently, but the shape of her lips made it clear what she meant.
“It’s actually…” The Omega girl grew even more excited, pulling out her phone to ask for Lu Chan’s contact information.
Before she could speak, Lu Chan had already turned and walked away, leaving behind only a proud and aloof silhouette.
“She doesn’t like being approached,” Ye Xian winked at the girl with a playful smile, a hint of amusement in her eyes.
The girl blushed crimson, her gaze still fixed on the direction Lu Chan had disappeared.
“Goodbye, Xiao Jin! Aunt Ye will come see you again tomorrow,” Ye Xian waved to Mu Jin, leaving with a cheerful smile.
Mu Jin nodded slightly, a faint smile curving his lips. His gaze briefly flickered over the two girls before quickly looking away.
Yan Zhu sensed something was wrong. She whispered, “Xiao Jin, what’s wrong? You seem a bit unhappy.”
Mu Jin shook his head quickly and fled to the back kitchen without a word, his avoidance obvious.
Yan Zhu glanced outside, her expression turning thoughtful.
Lu Chan got into the car, fastened her seatbelt, and glanced at Ye Xian out of the corner of her eye.
Meeting Ye Xian’s excited gaze, Lu Chan started the car with a detached expression, her eyes fixed straight ahead.
“Little Boss Lu, why are you so cold to that girl? You’re hurting her feelings,” Ye Xian said, clutching her chest in mock accusation.
In private, she often teased Lu Chan by calling her “Little Boss Lu.”
Lu Chan’s expression remained cold, though a hint of displeasure flickered across her face.
Remembering Lu Chan’s disdain for Omega girls, Ye Xian chuckled to ease the tension and changed the subject. “Tomorrow’s Saturday, Little Boss Lu. Any plans?”
“Gym,” Lu Chan replied tersely.
“Which gym?” Ye Xian’s eyes lit up as she excitedly rattled off three gym names.
Lu Chan nodded at the last one.
Ye Xian’s excitement surged, a glint of anticipation flashing in her eyes.
As Lu Chan parked at the Lu Family estate, she received a document from Wen Rou detailing the man’s background and the newspaper’s situation.
Noticing Lu Chan’s grave expression, Ye Xian tactfully refrained from asking questions, opened the car door, and stepped out.
The moment Ye Xian exited, Lu Chan rolled up the window and began a cold, terse phone call.
Five minutes later, the call ended.
Lu Chan got out of the car, glanced at Ye Xian, and strode into the house without another word.
Ye Xian felt a chill run through her, a flicker of intrigue sparking in her eyes.
She rarely saw Lu Chan angry and wondered who had the audacity to provoke such a cold-hearted person.
In an ordinary rental apartment, a man typed furiously on his computer, his face flushed with excitement.
A bold headline blazed across the screen: “Unbelievable! Bizarre Woman Still Undifferentiated at 21!”
Before he could finish the article, his phone rang.
He answered politely, but his initial excitement gradually morphed into shock, then into resentful anger. “This was a golden opportunity! Publishing this story would have made me famous!”
“Get some rest and don’t come to work for the next few days. You’re also forbidden from going near that dessert shop. Otherwise, I’ll have no choice but to fire you,” the voice on the other end said before hanging up.
The man gripped his phone in fury, violently sweeping everything off his desk.
At the same moment, Lu Chan received a text message on her phone.
A satisfied smirk curved her lips as she deleted the message.
Anyone who dares trouble my wife will face my wrath!
