Her Little Mute Omega [Rebirth] - Chapter 9
After exercising outside for a while, Lu Chan estimated the time and wiped her sweat as she headed toward the changing room.
Just as she reached the door, she saw three people standing inside, seemingly embroiled in an argument.
Lu Chan immediately noticed the red mark on Mu Jin’s face, ignoring Duan Qianrou’s words.
She strode directly to Mu Jin and asked in a low voice, “What happened to your face?”
“Sister Lu, don’t be fooled by her! She’s two-faced!” Duan Qianrou wailed, clutching her cheek. “She not only pushed me earlier, but she also hit me! My face still hurts…”
“Did you cause the injury on her face?” Lu Chan turned, her icy gaze fixed on Duan Qianrou.
Even without releasing her Alpha pheromones, her imposing presence was enough to instill fear in Duan Qianrou.
“She attacked first! I just… accidentally…” Duan Qianrou’s voice softened, and she lowered her head, revealing the swollen area on her cheek.
Only then did Lu Chan notice the marks on Duan Qianrou’s face. She glanced back at Mu Jin.
Mu Jin pressed her lips together, lowered her eyes, and gripped her electronic device tightly, remaining silent.
This was tantamount to an admission.
Lu Chan couldn’t help but find the situation somewhat amusing.
She had always thought Mu Jin was gentle and docile, never imagining she had such a fierce side.
She’s actually quite cute.
“Miss Mu is my mother’s goddaughter. If the injury on your face was truly caused by her, I will compensate you. Now, apologize to her,” Lu Chan said, her eyes narrowing with sharp intensity.
The three people present froze in shock.
Ye Xian frowned slightly.
She had indeed mentioned to Lu Chan that she treated Mu Jin like a goddaughter, but Lu Chan had always seemed uninterested.
Yet now, in front of a stranger, she suddenly acknowledged this relationship.
It was truly astonishing.
Mu Jin was equally stunned.
She glanced up at Lu Chan’s back, her mind reeling. After a moment, she realized she hadn’t misheard.
Despite knowing she had struck someone, Lu Chan wasn’t disgusted; instead, she was defending her.
The knot of anxiety in Mu Jin’s chest finally loosened.
Though her cheek still throbbed, she couldn’t help but secretly curl the corners of her lips into a smile.
“Sister Lu…” Duan Qianrou tried to argue, but Lu Chan cut her off.
“Miss Duan, if you refuse to apologize, I won’t hesitate to discuss this matter directly with Chairman Duan,” Lu Chan said, her voice icy and each word carrying a veiled threat.
The mention of “Chairman Duan” made Duan Qianrou’s eyes flicker with fear.
Although her father was the vice president of the Duan Group, his authority and position paled in comparison to her uncle, Chairman Duan.
If this incident escalated, she would only face a scolding.
More importantly, she would once again endure her cousin’s mockery.
From childhood, she had never been able to compete with that woman. After differentiation, she was ranked a tier lower, making her even more frequently compared.
Duan Qianrou gritted her teeth, forcing a pitiful expression as she approached Mu Jin, shooting her a resentful glare. “I’m sorry. Even if you hit me, I shouldn’t have retaliated.”
This apology twisted the truth, sounding utterly insincere.
Mu Jin chuckled softly and typed quickly, “It’s alright. I was wrong too. I shouldn’t have gotten angry when you insulted my family, and I definitely shouldn’t have resorted to violence.”
The electronic device emitted a cute sound, launching an invisible counterattack.
Ye Xian, who had been watching the drama with amusement, instantly turned cold.
As Duan Qianrou passed by, Ye Xian curled her lips into a disdainful smile. “My Chanchan is the CEO of Lu Corporation, not some gullible Alpha who can be easily manipulated with a few sweet words. I hope certain people have enough self-awareness to stop indulging in delusional fantasies.”
As she finished speaking, Ye Xian shot Duan Qianrou a sidelong glance, her contempt unmistakable.
Duan Qianrou’s face flushed with humiliation at the merciless mockery, but she forced her anger down. To marry into the Lu Family, she couldn’t afford to offend Lu Chan’s mother.
“Aunt Ye, I have other matters to attend to. I’ll take my leave now. I’ll invite you for tea another time,” Duan Qianrou said with a strained smile as she turned to leave. The red mark on her cheek made her look almost comical.
Ye Xian snorted dismissively in response, then walked over to Mu Jin, sighing with concern. “That woman’s attack was brutal. Not only is she ill-mannered, but her heart is also venomous. She even left a red mark on Xiao Jin’s face. Chanchan, you must never be deceived by such a two-faced viper.”
Lu Chan glared coldly at Ye Xian. “Do you think I’m that foolish?”
Ye Xian averted her gaze guiltily, quickly explaining, “I know Chanchan is exceptionally intelligent and wouldn’t be easily fooled. I was just reminding you, just in case.”
Lu Chan remained displeased. Nothing was more humiliating than having her capabilities questioned in front of her wife.
Seeing Lu Chan’s childish side, Mu Jin couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
Lu Chan heard the laughter, and a rare blush crept onto her usually composed face, standing out vividly against her jade-like complexion.
“I’ll go change,” Lu Chan said, retreating into the dressing room as if to hide her embarrassment.
Ye Xian winked at Mu Jin, a helpless smile spreading across her face.
Mu Jin pursed her lips, chuckling softly. The pain in her face had already subsided considerably.
When Lu Chan emerged, dressed in fresh clothes, she turned to Ye Xian and asked, “Mom, where are you headed later? I’ll drive you.”
Ye Xian’s eyes lit up at the offer. She glanced discreetly at Mu Jin before beaming, “Xiao Jin and I are going to the dessert shop.”
“Mm-hmm,” Lu Chan nodded, showing no surprise at the answer.
She had already anticipated this response.
Lu Chan drove.
Ye Xian and Mu Jin sat together in the back.
“Xiao Jin, does your face still hurt?” Ye Xian asked with concern.
Mu Jin shook her head with a soft smile, then glanced up and met Lu Chan’s cold, piercing gaze in the rearview mirror.
She instinctively lowered her head, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Ye Xian noticed this exchange and her gaze flickered between the two women before she smiled contentedly. Speaking in a voice loud enough for both to hear, she said, “Xiao Jin, don’t be shy. You’re my goddaughter, and Chanchan is your sister now. Stop calling her ‘Miss Lu’—it’s too formal. Just call her ‘Sister Chan.'”
Mu Jin’s face flushed even deeper at these words. She cautiously looked up to gauge Lu Chan’s reaction.
“Mm,” Lu Chan nodded, suppressing her inner joy. Though her expression remained cool, she had at least agreed.
Mu Jin’s lips instantly curved into a happy smile. She lowered her gaze, thought for a moment, then gripped the electronic device in her hand as if making a decision. Suddenly, she blurted out, “Sister Chan, our shop has developed a new dessert. Would you like to try it?”
“Mm,” Lu Chan replied, her grip tightening on the steering wheel as her heart melted.
Her expression remained as cold and aloof as ever, but the tips of her ears, hidden beneath her smooth black hair, flushed faintly pink.
Before their marriage, Mu Jin had called her “President Lu.” After they married, she called her “Qingqing.”
The term “Sister Chan” was entirely new, and to Lu Chan’s ears, it sounded like a beautiful melody, filling her with warmth and joy.
A faint smile curved Lu Chan’s lips, and a hint of amusement flickered in her usually cold, calculating eyes.
When others called her “Sister Lu,” she felt only annoyance. Bound by years of familial ties, she couldn’t afford to be rude.
But with Mu Jin, she adored the title “Sister Chan.”
“From now on, I’ll call you ‘Xiao Jin,'” Lu Chan said, her tone casual.
Actually, I’d rather call you ‘wife,’Â she thought.
Mu Jin’s face flushed crimson as she lowered her gaze and nodded shyly.
Ye Xian watched the scene with undisguised delight.
If Mu Jin were to differentiate into an Omega in the future, and her compatibility with Lu Chan exceeded fifty percent, Ye Xian would wholeheartedly support their union.
But if Mu Jin remained undifferentiated, they would simply become sisters. With Lu Chan, the heir to the Lu Group, watching over her, Mu Jin’s future wouldn’t be too bleak.
She remembered how Mu Jin had been bullied relentlessly as a child because she was mute, and how the person who cared for her had endured countless scornful glances, often weeping in secret where no one could see.
Though Mu Jin was several years younger than her, the lines of hardship etched on her face were deeper than her own.
She only wished for Mu Jin to have a better future.
That way, the worrywart who cared for her could finally find some peace of mind.
“Chanchan, let’s just forget about what happened today. Don’t bring it up again,” Ye Xian said, gazing ahead.
Lu Chan glanced at the rearview mirror, acknowledging her mother’s words.
Spotting a cold drink shop by the roadside, Lu Chan pulled over, glanced at Mu Jin, and said, “Wait here for a moment.”
Mu Jin nodded eagerly, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Within minutes, Lu Chan returned with a cold drink and a clean, damp towel, handing them to the back seat. “Use this to soothe your face first.”
Mu Jin paused, then smiled softly as she accepted the items. The device on her chest emitted a cheerful “Thank you!”
“Chanchan, Mommy wants ice cream too!” Ye Xian pouted, her face full of envious affection.
Lu Chan shot her a cold glance and started the car.
In a secluded spot outside the gym, a young woman stood with a vivid red mark on her face.
Clutching her phone, her delicate features twisted with fury, she snarled, “Mom, that mute b1tch actually dared to hit me!”
“Which mute b1tch had the audacity to strike my daughter?” The person on the other end frowned.
“Who else could it be? The useless Beta’s daughter who got kicked out. Two Betas could only produce a mute monster.” Duan Qianrou pressed a hand to her cheek, grinding her teeth in resentment. “Mom, you have to avenge me. That mute didn’t just hit me; she also looked down on me for being an A+ Omega!”
By the end of her rant, Duan Qianrou’s voice trembled with tears.
The person on the other end erupted in fury. “How dare that undifferentiated freak mock you? Once I have time in a couple of days, I’ll teach those two a lesson.”
“Thank you, Mom.” A smile crept across Duan Qianrou’s face. After a pause, she added, “Mom, please don’t tell anyone about this. That woman will laugh at me.”
“Enough. I know better than to share such a humiliating incident.” With that, the call ended.
Duan Qianrou slowly stroked the red mark on her cheek, her eyes burning with hatred and malice.
