Her Wild Rose - Chapter 32
Chapter 32: The Answer
On the final day of the program in Lvteng City, the sky still hadn’t cleared. A light snowfall had persisted through the night, and by the time everyone came out in the morning, a thin layer of snow had settled on the ground.
Aside from the skiing segment, there was only one task left on everyone’s mission cards: a day of relaxation at the amusement park. It was the crew’s way of rewarding them with some downtime.
Holding the amusement park tickets in her hand, Tang Tang smiled brightly. She tugged Su Qian’s hand and spoke with an unintentional hint of childish excitement in her tone.
“I’ve heard for ages that Lvteng Amusement Park is amazing! I never thought I’d actually get to visit it while filming.”
Su Qian fondly patted her on the head, secretly glad she’d insisted on keeping this amusement park visit in the itinerary.
“Head pat alert! Director, can you please make Su Qian do that again? I didn’t see clearly enough!”
“Their interactions are just so natural. Real couples truly beat fake CPs. I admit it—I was wrong to ship Tang Tang with Chi Yu.”
“Girl, hurry and join the SuTang army. There are hundreds of edits in the super topic. You won’t run out of sweetness even if you binge them all.”
“LOL, as a passerby watching for drama, I really want to know what Chi Yu is thinking right now—the only single one left in the whole show.”
“Haha, have y’all forgotten about Chen Zhi?”
“Wait, is this a theme park segment? Will there be a haunted house? Are we getting cuddles, kisses, and maybe even a lift-the-girl scene?”
“Highly suspect the director is one of us.”
After Tang Tang and Su Qian’s public confession, the last few holdout solo fans on the bullet chat had mostly disappeared. Many converted into CP fans, ready to let go and indulge. Only a small handful stubbornly unfollowed the show, choosing instead to only comment on the show’s official Weibo posts, determined to win through likes and replies.
As a top-tier celebrity, Su Qian took the biggest hit after announcing her relationship with Tang Tang. In the first few hours, her followers dropped by the tens of thousands. But before long, the gap was filled by an even more passionate army of CP fans. The online drama between solo fans and CP fans even pushed Su Qian to the top of Weibo’s weekly hottest artist chart.
Tang Tang, however, was far from calm about the follower loss. She anxiously refreshed Weibo every few minutes and finally, after seeing Su Qian had lost over a million followers, cautiously asked:
“Su Qian, do you regret going public with me?”
She asked it softly, clearly nervous. Su Qian’s career-focused image was so deeply ingrained in people’s minds that even Tang Tang—who knew she was loved—couldn’t help but feel insecure.
“Not at all.”
Su Qian casually answered while still in the middle of a meeting. She reached out and took Tang Tang’s phone away, giving her chubby cheek a gentle squeeze before muting herself and leaning lazily back in her chair.
“People who truly like me will care about my work. As for those who want to control me and criticize my choices—they don’t deserve to be my fans.”
Su Qian said it so easily, but in her gaze, Tang Tang saw unwavering determination.
After three years of wandering and circling each other, Su Qian had finally figured out what she wanted, and Tang Tang had come to understand her own heart too.
Thankfully, they had both worked hard to grow up.
…
The program’s bus cruised along the snowy road. No one knew how long the journey had taken, but they finally arrived at their destination.
The guests stepped off the bus in their casual winter coats, only to be handed a new mission card by the NPCs at the park entrance.
“Spend a day in the amusement park and take photos with at least five NPCs?”
Lu Piaopiao stared at the card in disbelief, her eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. “Come on, Director! Please check the task again. This is a travel show, not Running Man!”
Her complaint made everyone laugh. Chi Yu, clearly also unenthusiastic about the task, chimed in.
“Exactly, Director! If you add up the ages in our group, it’s not a small number. You really expect us to run around like kids?”
Even Chen Zhi, who usually didn’t get along with anyone, nodded in rare agreement, clearly thinking, She’s got a point.
Running around an amusement park already risked ruining makeup—how were they supposed to face the cameras afterward?
“Chen Zhi, are you worried about smudging your makeup?”
After half a month of interaction, Tang Tang had learned Chen Zhi’s temperament well. She joked lightly, picking a harmless topic to tease her.
“So what? Before thirty, I relied on natural beauty. After thirty, I rely on skincare and money. Right, Sister Chi Yu?”
With no sarcasm in her tone, Chen Zhi actually came across as quite pleasant. She turned to her longtime partner and gave her a smug little look—clearly someone used to getting the last word.
While they were chatting, Li Xiang finally finished distributing the program’s cameras. The guests held up their tickets and headed for the gates, clearly eager to be the first to complete the task.
“This park is huge. How are we supposed to find those NPCs?”
Tang Tang studied the complex layout on the map she got at the gate and turned to Su Qian with a frown, hoping for guidance.
Though the prize for finishing first wasn’t particularly valuable to celebrities like them, it was still something earned through effort—and Tang Tang cared about that.
“Let’s just go where you want. We’ll watch the fireworks tonight too.”
As a seasoned variety show pro, Su Qian didn’t care much about winning the game. She took the marker from Tang Tang and marked all of her favorite attractions on the map.
“No point being pushed around by some task when we finally get to have fun.”
She said it casually, her typically cool face exuding an air of quiet defiance against the world.
Tang Tang was captivated by her free-spiritedness. Her eyes practically stuck to Su Qian’s face. Grabbing her sleeve, she beamed dreamily. “Su Qian, you’re so cool.”
Cool?
Su Qian was caught off guard by the compliment, giving her a skeptical glance—but the look of pure admiration in Tang Tang’s eyes made her forget herself.
“Just wait. Next time, I’ll show you something even cooler.”
Meanwhile, in the surveillance room, Li Xiang sighed internally: Yep. I’m officially the third wheel.
…
“I never thought riding the giant pendulum in winter would be even more thrilling than in summer! Su Qian, can we ride it again?”
Flushed from the wind, Tang Tang’s face lit up with pure joy as she hopped off the ride. She grabbed her bangs and tugged at Su Qian’s arm with puppy eyes. “It’s still early. Let’s go one more time, please?”
“The fireworks show is about to start.”
Seeing that eager expression, Su Qian almost caved—but remembering the surprise she had prepared, she gently pulled Tang Tang away instead.
“Let’s go watch it first. Afterward, I promise you can ride as much as you want.”
They followed the crowd to the highest point of the amusement park. The best spots were already taken by early arrivals.
Just as Tang Tang was about to complain about their timing, Su Qian kept walking, leading her across the crowd toward the castle.
They rode the castle elevator up and arrived on a rooftop filled with plush toys. Tang Tang looked around and quickly realized—this had to be the legendary VIP viewing area for the fireworks.
Standing next to Su Qian, she had a strong feeling that something important was about to happen.
“Su Qian…”
She had just spoken her name when a burst of fireworks drowned out the rest. The sky exploded with colors, massive blossoms of light blooming before their eyes like real flowers.
Tang Tang was stunned by the beauty and forgot what she’d wanted to ask. She turned to look at Su Qian, who was watching the display intently. The fireworks painted her pale face in dazzling hues, making her look like a mythical mermaid.
Suddenly, the crowd’s cheers rose above even the fireworks. The castle doors opened, and dozens of people in mascot costumes rushed in, dancing in a circle around them.
At that moment, a pink firework exploded in the sky—this time, Tang Tang saw her name formed in its light.
She turned to Su Qian, shocked, only to find her gazing at her with eyes full of love.
“The fireworks… were for me?”
In this dreamlike moment, Tang Tang asked the most obvious question. Her nose tingled—whether from the firework or Su Qian’s gaze, she couldn’t tell.
“Mhm. And this too—also for you.”
Su Qian pulled a jewelry box from her coat pocket and opened it in front of her.
Inside was a necklace strung with irregular pearls. Each one was shaped almost like a heart—clearly, someone had put a lot of care into it.
“I made this necklace by hand. I picked each pearl myself, just like the ring I gave you last time.”
She gently fastened the necklace around Tang Tang’s neck. Then, she took the ring Tang Tang had tossed aside that first day—retrieved from one of the mascot’s hands—knelt on one knee, and held it out again.
“Tang Tang, I know you’ve been waiting for an answer. Everything you see now—everything you have—is my answer. So, are you satisfied?”
Fireworks exploded in Tang Tang’s ears. Looking at Su Qian before her, she suddenly remembered something she once read.
It said that deep-sea mermaids have a habit of adorning their lovers with gold and jewels. Su Qian—she had given her a wedding dress the day they reunited, then a ring and now a necklace. Tang Tang was covered in Su Qian’s gifts from head to toe.
What reason did she have to say no?
Smiling, Tang Tang held out her hand and answered with a grin:
“But I want to keep seeing your answers forever—my mermaid lover.”
