His Addiction - Chapter 39
“There’s nothing to be angry about. When we were kids, every time you wanted to go to the internet cafe, you’d bring me along and tell your parents we were going to the library,” Xu Zhi smiled faintly. “This isn’t the first time.”
Liang Mushi was silent for a long moment. “It wasn’t just to bring Chen Jing along. We agreed to come here together back in the summer, when the resort opened. And I did feel like I owed you an apology.”
Xu Zhi thought his explanation only made him seem more suspicious.
She no longer felt much disappointment towards him, only exhaustion with their so-called friendship.
But considering Xu He Ping and her family’s situation, she knew she couldn’t afford to antagonize Liang Mushi yet.
Liang Mushi also sensed the weakness of his excuse. He looked away, then said, “Being good has its advantages. Chen Jing asked me if I liked good girls, so I said that. Don’t take it to heart.”
Xu Zhi nodded. “I didn’t.”
It wouldn’t have mattered if she did. Realizing this, she felt a sense of relief.
She seemed genuinely indifferent, but he still felt uncomfortable, a strange tightness in his chest.
“Let’s go skiing later?” he suggested. “There are several slopes here. We can stay for a few days.”
Xu Zhi considered it, then agreed.
She could find Yang Xue once they were at the slopes.
Liang Mushi left Xu Zhi’s room, gently closing the door. He suddenly realized what had felt so strange about their conversation.
Xu Zhi had been wearing a mask, her politeness feeling forced and insincere.
She was always polite to everyone, but as someone close to her, he knew she wasn’t always so agreeable.
But now, she was using that same polite tone with him.
She was no longer expressing her true feelings.
He sat down on the sofa in the living room, slightly regretting his careless words at the restaurant. But he was Liang Mushi. He couldn’t show regret.
Footsteps interrupted his thoughts. Chen Jing walked over and sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him. “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”
“No.” Liang Mushi put his hand on her waist, kissing her lightly on the lips. “Get ready. We’re going skiing.”
Chen Jing said, “But I’ve never skied before.”
“Xiao Zhi Zi and I can teach you.”
“Great! I’ll have two private instructors!” Chen Jing smiled, looking happy.
Liang Mushi thought, Chen Jing is so easy to please. Xu Zhi was becoming more and more difficult.
Chen Jing, in her excitement, kissed him again.
Liang Mushi, still retaining some sense of propriety, said, “Xiao Zhi Zi is here.”
“She’s eating in her room. She won’t come out…”
Liang Mushi, aroused, let her continue.
Xu Zhi had just taken her food out of the paper bag. There was no trash can in the bedroom, so she went to the door to throw it away. As she reached the door, she heard some noises outside.
“Aren’t you ashamed, doing this in broad daylight?”
It was Liang Mushi’s teasing voice. Although he had tried to lower it, she could still hear it clearly through the door.
“Don’t you like it when I’m like this? You don’t like good girls…”
Xu Zhi retreated from the door to the table by the bed, but it didn’t feel far enough. She walked to the window.
The sounds were almost inaudible now.
She looked down and realized she had crushed the paper bag in her hand.
Chen Jing’s words, “You don’t like good girls,” still stung. Perhaps she no longer cared as much about Liang Mushi’s opinion, but it still hurt to hear those words.
She didn’t understand why Liang Mushi was treating her like this. She even wondered if he hated her. Why else would he book a presidential suite and make her stay here? Was he deliberately torturing her?
She had the urge to rush out and ask for a separate room, but she quickly dismissed the thought.
Liang Mushi would be angry. He was too controlling. When he took friends out, they had to follow his arrangements.
Now, she wasn’t afraid of his anger. She was thinking about Xu He Ping’s advice. Besides seduction and servitude, there was another option: flattery.
If she appeased this young master, would she be able to secure a lifeline for her family’s company, persuade him to have Liang Corp. invest in Xu He Ping’s project?
In the living room, Liang Mushi and Chen Jing’s intimate moment didn’t last long. He stopped Chen Jing’s hand from reaching inside his shirt. “You’re too loud. Xiao Zhi Zi will hear… Okay, we need to stop.”
Chen Jing was a skilled seductress, and he was losing control.
“Then don’t stop,” Chen Jing kissed him on the cheek. “We’re here to have fun. It’s all the same.”
She hadn’t been able to seduce him at the hotel in Hong Kong, and it had been a blow to her pride.
After spending some time with him, she had sensed the subtle dynamic between Liang Mushi and Xu Zhi. A “sister” without bl00d ties? Who would believe that?
Liang Mushi always called Xu Zhi “Xiao Zhi Zi” affectionately, while he always addressed her formally by her full name. He would get upset and worried over Xu Zhi’s matters. It was a dangerous sign.
She didn’t like Xu Zhi either. She thought Xu Zhi was playing innocent, calling herself a childhood friend… Liang Mushi invited her, and she came along. Didn’t she know he had a girlfriend?
She admitted she was deliberately provoking Liang Mushi, asserting her dominance over Xu Zhi, who was just a door away.
Could Xu Zhi still bear to stay here after this?
Liang Mushi patted her on the hip. “I promised Xiao Zhi Zi we would go skiing. You should go change. Don’t you want to wear your new ski suit?”
Chen Jing, remembering the ski suit and equipment Liang Mushi had bought her, immediately got off his lap and ran to the master bedroom. “Okay, I’ll be quick!”
Liang Mushi couldn’t help but smile.
As he looked away, his gaze lingered on Xu Zhi’s bedroom door.
Chen Jing had indeed been a little loud. He wondered if Xu Zhi had heard…
Xu Zhi was so innocent that he felt even exposing her to such sounds was a kind of defilement.
It was absurd. This couldn’t happen again. He needed to control himself.
Chen Jing’s personality was completely different from Xu Zhi’s. He imagined that if Xu Zhi were in a relationship, she would be the passive one. She was too obedient.
He suddenly remembered a time when Xu Zhi had a very strict tutor who assigned a ridiculous amount of homework.
Xu Zhi had to stay up late to finish it. She had complained to him once, her eyes red-rimmed, looking aggrieved.
Liang Mushi had been dismissive. “She’s just a tutor. If you can’t finish the homework, don’t do it. What can she do to you? If you’re not happy, just fire her. You don’t always have to be so obedient.”
Xu Zhi had pouted. “I’m not like you. I have to be obedient.”
Liang Mushi had frowned. “Why do you have to be obedient?”
“If I’m not obedient, maybe no one will want me,” Xu Zhi had said softly. “But you’ll always be forgiven.”
