- Chapter 11 - Is It Too Late to Join the Stellaron Hunters Now?
“A cat?”
Compared to the striking and charismatic Li Ye, Silver Wolf was more interested in ordinary-looking Tom.
After all, the Stellaron Hunters already had a “cat” among them.
And this cat walked on two legs. That was weird.
Silver Wolf tilted her head slightly, pressing her lips together before speaking softly to Kafka.
“Kafka, this guy isn’t from the Herta Space Station or the Astral Express. Something’s off.”
Kafka barely reacted, shaking her head.
“This wasn’t in Elio’s script. It doesn’t matter.”
Not being in Elio’s script meant this person wasn’t important. Running into him was just a coincidence.
Of course, there was another possibility—one so unlikely it wasn’t worth considering.
But even if he was insignificant, he had seen them talking to Stelle. That could cause some trouble.
Li Ye knew full well that Kafka and Silver Wolf weren’t taking him seriously. Then again, there were very few people in the entire universe the Stellaron Hunters did take seriously.
If he wanted their respect, there was one simple way to do it.
He just had to shout: “My prophecy surpasses Elio’s!”
But that would be suicide.
Kafka would probably just knock him out and drag him back to the Stellaron Hunters’ base.
Her voice alone was a weapon.
If Li Ye had any real power, maybe he’d stand a chance against her hypnotic abilities. But right now, he was no different from an ordinary guy.
Still, the moment Li Ye saw Kafka and Silver Wolf, his exploration points skyrocketed. Two Star Rail Special Passes instantly appeared in his inventory.
That confirmed his theory. Meeting key people was the way to get Star Rail passes.
Of course, that might not be a hard rule.
Throughout his journey, he had searched every hidden corner of the space station—even rummaged through trash cans—and managed to collect nine Star Rail Passes. It had been a good haul.
With all these resources, his strength would get a decent boost.
But right now…
Run.
Sure, fighting the Stellaron Hunters might earn him more Star Rail Special Passes, but he knew his own limits.
Getting two was already a lucky break.
“Tom, get me out of here!”
Tom scratched its head, clearly confused. If this was their destination, why were they running the moment they arrived?
But orders were orders.
Without hesitation, the cat grabbed Li Ye by the butt and bolted for the exit.
Kafka raised her gun in an instant.
The muzzle flashed.
Bang!
A bullet shot out, heading straight for Tom’s right knee.
A second later—
Tom’s right leg split apart at the knee.
Kafka had no intention of letting them escape. Even if Elio’s script didn’t mention this guy, he had seen too much.
If he had ties to the Astral Express and ran straight to them, telling them about Stelle’s connection to the Stellaron Hunters, it would definitely cause problems.
Elio’s grand plan wouldn’t be affected, but Kafka preferred to eliminate inconveniences before they could become real threats.
Besides, she had a more personal reason.
This guy interrupted her conversation with Stelle.
That alone was enough to make her want to erase Li Ye.
Of course, she wasn’t planning to kill him.
If Li Ye was connected to the Astral Express or the space station, his sudden disappearance could make things messy for Stelle.
So, no. She’d just knock him out, teach him a lesson, and erase this little encounter from his memory.
But then…
Something was off.
Tom’s leg had been blown off, yet there was no bl00d.
Kafka frowned slightly in confusion.
And then—
Her confusion turned into shock.
Tom staggered a bit but didn’t stop.
Instead, it hopped forward a few steps, and its severed leg started walking on its own.
It jumped, reattached itself, and became good as new.
Tom kept running.
Kafka’s eyes widened slightly. She pursed her lips.
“That’s a weird cat.”
Then she turned to Silver Wolf.
“Don’t let them get away.”
Silver Wolf casually blew a bubble with her gum before popping it.
“Relax. I’m on it.”
Her fingers danced across a glowing keyboard in midair, light flashing across the holo-screen.
Seconds later—
A portal appeared right in front of Tom and Li Ye.
Tom slammed on the brakes, digging a trench into the floor as it skidded to a stop.
But it was too close.
While Tom managed to halt just before the portal, Li Ye kept flying forward in his grasp and got launched straight into the portal.
His last words before disappearing was…
“Tom, saaaaaave meeeee—!”
Without hesitation, Tom sprinted forward, arms outstretched, and dove in after him.
Tom felt it just couldn’t stop worried about its owner.
On the other side of the portal…
Li Ye shot out of the portal, high into the air.
Right below him, Tom leaped out, positioning itself just right—
Bam!
Li Ye crashed onto Tom’s back, flattening it like a pancake.
He quickly scrambled off, staring down at Tom’s squashed body.
The only thing still intact was a raised bulge in Tom’s shape right where Li Ye’s butt had landed.
Then, Tom casually stuck a thumb in its mouth, inflated itself like a balloon, and popped back to normal.
Silver Wolf’s usual blank expression finally cracked.
Her silver-gray eyes lit up with intrigue as she whispered,
“It’s just like an NPC in a video game…”
Kafka smirked, amusement flashing across her face.
“Interesting.”
Meanwhile, Li Ye had cold sweat run down his back.
His face was blank as he froze in place.
He was so screwed.
Desperate, Li Ye blurted out the only thing he could think of.
“Wait! Can I still join the Stellaron Hunters? We both have cats! We’re basically on the same team!”
