How About A Divorce? - Chapter 10
Chapter 10: Wear My Clothes
Meeting did not mean that the elephant in the room was being addressed. It was just that Wen Yu really cared about the relationship between Yuan Yiyang and Lin Yanqing. She was only suspicious, but not certain. If possible, Wen Yu hoped that she was just being paranoid.
By getting a few people together, she could see Lin Yanqing’s attitude since it would be hard to hide anything at the dinner table.
Wen Yu and Shi Li parted ways. Wen Yu went back to the hotel to find Lin Yanqing.
When she opened the door, Lin Yanqing still had her Bluetooth headset on.
“You’re back?”
Wen Yu nodded. Lin Yanqing walked back to the sofa, picked up her iPad, and turned on the microphone. “Organize and summarize what I just said. Send me the final version tomorrow.”
Lin Yanqing looked up and tilted her head slightly, gesturing for Wen Yu to look at the iced dessert soup on the small table next to her.
“Okay. If there’s anything you don’t understand later, ask Zhang Cheng.” Lin Yanqing hung up the conference call.
She picked up the dessert soup. “Do you want to eat? I asked the hotel to make one. A little bit won’t hurt.”
Wen Yu took it. Lin Yanqing then unwrapped the spoon and handed it to her.
“How was the talk?” Lin Yanqing asked.
Wen Yu: “I want to try investing in it.”
Lin Yanqing nodded. “Do you want me to give you my opinion?”
“No, that’s not necessary. You’re an outsider,” Wen Yu refused.
Lin Yanqing lifted the long hair that was scattered by Wen Yu’s ears so it wouldn’t get in the dessert soup. “I’m not your insider?”
“The Empress Dowager should not interfere with state affairs,” Wen Yu bit into a piece of mochi, her voice muffled.
Lin Yanqing chuckled.
Wen Yu swallowed the mochi. “I’m taking you out to dinner tonight.”
This sentence surprised Lin Yanqing. How could this young miss be so kind?
Her expression was too obvious. Wen Yu knew what this woman was thinking with just one look. She lifted her leg and gently kicked Lin Yanqing. “Eat or don’t eat.”
“I’ll eat.” Lin Yanqing stood up and started picking out clothes.
“You’re going to change clothes?” Wen Yu asked.
Lin Yanqing was wearing a linen and cotton short-sleeved shirt and loose jeans. There was nothing wrong with what she was wearing.
Lin Yanqing: “The young miss is treating me. Your servant must wash and change to show her respect.”
“Cut it out,” Wen Yu couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s not just the two of us. There are others.”
Lin Yanqing immediately threw the off-the-shoulder shirt in her hand away.
Wen Yu glanced at the shirt and was surprised. “Isn’t this my shirt?”
Lin Yanqing: “I grabbed the wrong one when I was packing.”
“Oh.” Wen Yu didn’t think much of it. “Then it’s perfect for me to wear.”
“No,” Lin Yanqing said immediately.
“Why?”
“I haven’t washed this shirt.”
“It’s not dirty,” Wen Yu picked up the shirt.
“Fine, you can wear it,” Lin Yanqing said, picking up the dessert soup bowl that Wen Yu had put down. As if she wasn’t holding it steady, her hand tilted, and a few drops of sticky dessert soup fell, landing squarely on the shirt in Wen Yu’s hand.
Wen Yu: “…”
Wen Yu dropped the shirt and slapped Lin Yanqing on the back.
“You did that on purpose!”
Lin Yanqing’s face didn’t turn red and her heart didn’t skip a beat. “I didn’t hold it steady.”
Wen Yu scoffed. “Your hands are already useless at such a young age.”
Lin Yanqing: “…”
Lin Yanqing finally chose her dignity over a slap. She spoke like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water. “Yes, I did it on purpose. So what?”
Unsurprisingly, Lin Yanqing was slapped again.
It didn’t hurt. Lin Yanqing even wanted to laugh, but to prevent Wen Yu from getting more furious, she held it in.
“You jerk,” Wen Yu cursed.
“Let’s just go out in these clothes,” Lin Yanqing said.
“I’ll be sweating after walking around. I need to take a shower and change,” Wen Yu said as she slammed the door, went back to her hotel room, and took a quick shower. When she came out, she found Lin Yanqing sitting on the bed.
Wen Yu: “?”
This is a familiar scene. This woman can’t possibly have another key to the room, can she?
Lin Yanqing took out a card and waved it.
“I saw an extra one on your table last time I was here. I just took it.”
What a convenient “just took it.”
Wen Yu couldn’t be bothered to argue. “What are you doing here? Are you going to wash my clothes with dessert soup?”
Lin Yanqing: “If you want me to.”
“Get lost.”
After Wen Yu cursed, she started looking for clothes to wear. A hand suddenly reached out from the side, holding a gray shirt.
Lin Yanqing: “Wear mine. It’s more formal.”
“It’s not a business dinner. Why be formal?”
Lin Yanqing: “But they’re future business partners after all.”
Wen Yu thought about it for a moment, thinking it made sense. She took Lin Yanqing’s clothes and put them on in a flash.
She looked at herself in the mirror. “As expected, I look good in anything.”
Lin Yanqing: “Yes, you do. You look good.”
Wen Yu was wearing her own clothes, looking good, and it was pleasing to the eye.
Wen Yu pushed the door open. Shi Li was already there. She was stunned for a moment when she saw Wen Yu’s outfit before she greeted her. “CEO Wen?”
Wen Yu: “What’s wrong?”
Shi Li smiled. “When you came in, I thought it was CEO Lin for a second.”
Wen Yu had her hair tied in a low ponytail and was not wearing any makeup. She was also wearing a dull gray shirt. When she stood next to Lin Yanqing, they looked like they were wearing a couple’s outfit—Lin Yanqing was wearing a slightly darker gray.
It didn’t take a genius to guess who’s doing this.
Shi Li looked at Lin Yanqing speechlessly.
After they sat down, Shi Li whispered to Lin Yanqing, “Was that necessary?”
It was as if she was afraid that no one would know that the two of them were a couple.
Lin Yanqing: “Heh.”
Shi Li: “…”
There’s no hope for her. She’s good at playing mind games, but she’s too cowardly to be honest about her feelings.
Wen Yu was sitting next to Lin Yanqing. There was an empty seat next to her.
“Is there someone else?” Lin Yanqing asked.
The next second, Yuan Yiyang pushed the door open, fully equipped with sunglasses and a mask.
Yuan Yiyang: “Sorry, it took a while to shake off the paparazzi.”
Lin Yanqing frowned when she saw who it was.
Wen Yu only glanced at Yuan Yiyang and then at Lin Yanqing with her peripheral vision, not noticing anything unusual.
Yuan Yiyang was surprised. “CEO Lin is here too?”
She walked over and was about to sit next to Wen Yu. Lin Yanqing suddenly stood up and placed a hand on Wen Yu’s shoulder.
“Let’s switch seats.”
Wen Yu: “?”
Her eyes went back and forth between the two of them, and she was getting more and more unhappy.
What’s the meaning of this? Is Lin Yanqing so blatant about wanting to sit next to Yuan Yiyang?
Yuan Yiyang was also stunned. She stood there and didn’t sit down.
Wen Yu sneered. “No, I’m sitting here.”
Lin Yanqing looked at Shi Li. Shi Li immediately understood and stood up. “Come, come, come, Xiao Yuan, sit here.”
Yuan Yiyang sat down as she was told. Shi Li sat next to Wen Yu. Lin Yanqing was still sitting next to Yuan Yiyang.
Wen Yu was unhappy, but since there were outsiders, she didn’t act on it. Instead, she was keeping a mental tab, planning to settle the score after dinner.
The waiter started serving the food.
The few of them chatted about the project for a bit. Yuan Yiyang was also very well-behaved and didn’t have any eye contact with Lin Yanqing.
Lin Yanqing, on the other hand, was always picking up food for Wen Yu, deboning fish, and peeling shrimp. She was completely out of sync with the entire conversation.
Wen Yu didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. She just ate and drank as she pleased.
Shi Li was amazed and forcefully interrupted Lin Yanqing’s shrimp-peeling plan. “CEO Lin, why don’t you share your opinion?”
Lin Yanqing: “I don’t have any.”
Shi Li hummed, suddenly turned to Wen Yu, and said, “Wen Wen, when the location is decided, I’ll reserve a room for you next to Xiao Yuan. If you want to join the crew, you can come and stay.”
Lin Yanqing: “?”
Wen Yu: “Okay.”
Lin Yanqing: “You want to join the crew?”
Wen Yu: “I want to go and take a look.”
“Joining the crew is tiring and troublesome. You can’t handle the hardship. Don’t go,” Lin Yanqing said.
To Wen Yu, this was only 30% genuine. The other 70% was Lin Yanqing trying to stop her from getting close to Yuan Yiyang.
“How do you know I can’t handle the hardship? Do you know me very well?” Wen Yu was unhappy.
Lin Yanqing: “Don’t be difficult. There are a lot of people in a film crew. It’s not as comfortable as home. Don’t put yourself through that.”
“No, no,” Shi Li added fuel to the fire. “Wen Wen doesn’t have to get up early or leave late. If you want to take a look, just take a look. If you don’t, you can rest.”
Lin Yanqing shot a cold glare at Shi Li.
Shi Li acted as if she didn’t notice. Wen Yu was angered by Lin Yanqing’s attitude. She stood up and walked out. “I’m going to the restroom.”
As soon as Wen Yu left, Lin Yanqing picked up a wet napkin to wipe her hands and looked up at Shi Li with cold eyes.
Shi Li: “Don’t look at me like that. It’s normal to reserve a room for the financial backer.”
Yuan Yiyang was acting like a corpse, not saying a word, with none of the longing she had for Lin Yanqing before.
Lin Yanqing’s lips curled into a chilling smile. “I can’t deal with her, but I can’t deal with you?”
“Don’t. We’ve been friends for so many years!” Shi Li accused, but there was no fear in her voice. “I just reserved a room for your wife. It’s not like I’m putting someone in the room.”
“If you do, you’re dead for real.”
After Lin Yanqing said that, she only glanced at Yuan Yiyang, who didn’t dare to breathe, and then walked out to find Wen Yu.
As soon as they left, the air relaxed.
Yuan Yiyang slumped in her chair and let out a light sigh.
“What’s up with them?” Yuan Yiyang said.
Shi Li had been very relaxed the whole time. “What do you mean ‘what’s up’? Didn’t you like Lin Yanqing? Why were you so well-behaved during dinner?”
Yuan Yiyang felt the need to defend herself. “It’s not that I liked her. It was a good impression. As long as she has power and money and can help me, I can have a good impression of her, even if it’s not Lin Yanqing.”
“Really?” Shi Li looked up.
“Fine, I admit I liked her a little. After all, CEO Lin has the conditions. Who wouldn’t be tempted? But that’s only based on the assumption that they’re doing their own thing,” Yuan Yiyang sighed. “I’m not blind. Those two are obviously a couple.”
The couple’s outfit was practically screaming it.
In the industry, she had met many estranged couples. She had not met many who kept to themselves. Most of them were faithful to their families but had affairs outside.
Lin Yanqing was truly an anomaly.
“They’re actually true love. I can’t even act out a gaze that’s this real.” Yuan Yiyang thought of Lin Yanqing’s eyes and sighed in amazement.
“Right?” Shi Li casually agreed.
Unfortunately, Wen Yu was a piece of wood. She had never taken a professional course on analyzing gazes, so she couldn’t deconstruct Lin Yanqing’s gaze into a ten-thousand-word analysis.
Yuan Yiyang suddenly said, “But I can only see that CEO Lin really likes CEO Wen. I can’t see through CEO Wen.”
Shi Li thought to herself, of course you can’t. She can’t even see through herself.
“Do you think CEO Lin is in a one-sided love?”
Shi Li raised an eyebrow, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Yuan Yiyang thought she had guessed right. Her dark eyes rolled, and a smile appeared on her face.
“Since CEO Lin is a no-go, then CEO Wen must be available, right?”
“Do you want to offend Lin Yanqing?”
This was like a bucket of cold water poured on her head. Yuan Yiyang thought of how Lin Yanqing had been like a walking refrigerator just now, and she shivered.
“Then never mind. Resources are not worth mentioning compared to being blacklisted.”
“But you can try to be friends with Wen Yu,” Shi Li offered a constructive suggestion. “There’s no harm in it.”
Yuan Yiyang: “I can’t just be friends with someone just because I want to.”
Friends are made when there’s an equal status and mutual benefit. It’s not something that can be achieved by simply saying, “Be my friend.”
Yuan Yiyang was very self-aware.
“I’m just giving you a suggestion. It’s up to you whether you listen or not,” Shi Li said. “If it works out, you’ll benefit greatly.”
Yuan Yiyang: “You’re that kind?”
“If you move up a level, you can also help with my projects.”
“I knew it,” Yuan Yiyang pouted. “The evil capitalists.”
Shi Li took a sip of water.
“It’s not hard to be friends with Wen Yu. Maybe you can even help them.”
Yuan Yiyang didn’t understand. “What do you mean?”
Shi Li didn’t say any more.
She put down her cup with a click, looking very interested.
The two of them had been dragging their feet for seven years and still hadn’t figured out their feelings. Shi Li, seeing that Lin Yanqing was her long-time friend, didn’t mind giving her a little push.
When the truth finally came out, she was going to extort a huge sum of money from Lin Yanqing.
