How About A Divorce? - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Peach Flavored
The restroom.
Half of Wen Yu’s stomach was filled with food, and the other half was filled with the anger that Lin Yanqing had created.
She was truly full of anger.
At first, she was only suspicious of Yuan Yiyang. After all, when she first brought up the name, Lin Yanqing was already unwilling to have them meet. After they met, she found out that Yuan Yiyang did have feelings for Lin Yanqing, but Lin Yanqing’s attitude was ambiguous. Wen Yu had not dared to make a definitive conclusion.
But during dinner just now, Lin Yanqing’s attitude was very obvious.
She didn’t want Wen Yu to have contact with Yuan Yiyang. She had a guilty conscience!
Wen Yu took some water to rinse her mouth. As she wiped her mouth, she reached for the paper towels next to her. Before she could touch them, her hand was grabbed.
Wen Yu looked up and saw the woman she had cursed eighteen times in her heart standing behind her.
“What are you blindly fumbling for?” Lin Yanqing said, pulling out a tissue and touching it to Wen Yu’s lips.
The white tissue was wet with water. When it was moved away, her lips were a soft red.
Lin Yanqing stared at her lips and had the urge to kiss her.
But the two of them would only kiss when their passion was at its peak, as a continuation of the afterglow. At that time, Wen Yu was in a daze and infatuated, and she didn’t care if Lin Yanqing was trying to prolong the pleasure or if she had genuine feelings.
Wen Yu had no idea what Lin Yanqing was thinking. She only felt that she was being annoying, so she slapped Lin Yanqing’s hand away.
“Are you the only one with hands?”
Wen Yu pulled out a tissue herself, wiped her mouth carelessly, and even rubbed her chin red. “What are you doing out here? Do you have frequent urination, or is it just hard to pee?”
Lin Yanqing: “…”
What was that talking just now? The toilet paper?
Wen Yu fixed her hair and was about to turn and leave, but Lin Yanqing grabbed her.
Lin Yanqing: “Don’t join the crew.”
Wen Yu laughed out of anger. “Give me a reason.”
She wanted to see what kind of excuse Lin Yanqing would come up with.
Lin Yanqing: “You should have less contact with Yuan Yiyang.”
“Why?” Wen Yu asked, getting to the bottom of it.
Lin Yanqing didn’t answer immediately.
The first time she met this young celebrity was at the engagement party of a business tycoon’s grandson. The fiancée was from the entertainment industry and had invited many friends to support her. Yuan Yiyang was one of them.
Lin Yanqing didn’t have much of an impression of her. She only remembered that this person had主动 brought a glass of wine over to try and talk to her.
At the time, Wen Yu was upset with her. Lin Yanqing wasn’t in the mood to deal with anyone and just wanted to get it over with quickly. She took the glass, took a sip, said “sorry, I have to go,” and then turned to leave.
As soon as the engagement party was over, she left. She didn’t stay to socialize.
That same day, Yuan Yiyang found an intermediary to relay a message, hoping to get to know Lin Yanqing. Lin Yanqing, of course, understood what she meant and only had the intermediary relay a message—”Sorry, I’m not interested.”
This could be seen as a polite rejection, or it could be seen as, “What capital do you have that would make me interested?” Yuan Yiyang interpreted it as the latter.
Coincidentally, half a month later, Yuan Yiyang signed a betting agreement with her original company. Her original company was also a leading one, and half the industry didn’t dare to use her. She went to Zero One, giving up 70% of the profits, and signed a series of cooperative projects with them.
At that time, Zero One was expanding into the film and television market. Yuan Yiyang was a good person to work with. After a few projects, she made the entire department’s performance look great.
Lin Yanqing had to admit that Yuan Yiyang was indeed an excellent actress.
When Yuan Yiyang made the first fifty million yuan for Lin Yanqing, Yuan Yiyang invited Lin Yanqing to dinner. Lin Yanqing naturally sensed Yuan Yiyang’s intentions and told her to rein in her thoughts during that meal.
Yuan Yiyang seemed to have complied, but she still made some small moves. Lin Yanqing turned a blind eye and just treated her like a donkey pulling a mill, giving Yuan Yiyang the title of “friend.”
Yuan Yiyang also used the word “friend” to get a few projects and distributed them to the newcomers under her.
After she made money, her feelings for Lin Yanqing became even more obvious. Before Lin Yanqing could dispose of the donkey after it had served its purpose, Shi Li brought Yuan Yiyang to Wen Yu.
In Lin Yanqing’s mind, if Yuan Yiyang dared to have feelings for her, she would also dare to get into Wen Yu’s bed. Unlike Lin Yanqing, Wen Yu’s heart was empty. Anyone could enter.
Lin Yanqing would not allow this to happen.
But this was not something she could tell Wen Yu, as it would reveal her true feelings.
Wen Yu saw that Lin Yanqing wasn’t speaking and lost her patience. She turned and walked away.
This time, Lin Yanqing didn’t stop her.
After Wen Yu returned to the private room, Lin Yanqing followed soon after. The other two didn’t know what had happened, but they read the message “talk less” from the air, and the dinner was eaten in an unusually calm atmosphere.
Wen Yu was the first to put down her chopsticks, signaling that the dinner could end.
Shi Li stood up to see the two important guests off.
Wen Yu glanced at Yuan Yiyang. “Aren’t you leaving with us?”
Yuan Yiyang: “I’ll wait another hour to avoid being photographed.”
Before, Yuan Yiyang might have been happy to be photographed with Lin Yanqing and use the latter’s name to stir up some trouble, but she didn’t dare to now—she was mainly worried that if she and Wen Yu were in the same frame, something would happen, and Lin Yanqing would tear her apart.
However, Yuan Yiyang still followed Shi Li to see them downstairs.
In the car, Lin Yanqing raised the partition in front of the back seat. Wen Yu looked at it. “What are you doing?”
Lin Yanqing got straight to the point. “Do you like someone like Yuan Yiyang?”
Wen Yu was baffled. “What do you mean, ‘like Yuan Yiyang’?”
How would Lin Yanqing know what Yuan Yiyang was like? She only knew that this woman could make her a lot of money. She couldn’t possibly ask Wen Yu if she liked a workaholic who tirelessly made money.
So she went straight to the point. “Do you like Yuan Yiyang?”
Wen Yu was dumbfounded. “Are you sick?”
The expression of looking at an idiot was too vivid. Lin Yanqing pinched her face and was slapped away by Wen Yu.
This slap also scattered the unhappiness in Lin Yanqing’s heart.
Lin Yanqing’s lips curled into a smile.
But this smile, in Wen Yu’s eyes, was not a good thing.
Was she trying to test her attitude toward Yuan Yiyang? Was she worried that she would make things difficult for her? Or was she fighting over a person with her?
Wen Yu couldn’t figure it out. For a moment, she even wanted to ask Lin Yanqing directly if she was cheating, so she could end this farce early. But the words were stuck in her throat, and her lips forcibly sealed themselves against her will.
I haven’t found the evidence yet, Wen Yu comforted herself. I’ll get a divorce when I find it, and it will prove that it wasn’t my fault.
The ride to the hotel was silent.
That night, Lin Jiao, for the first time, called her. Lin Yanqing was informed that there was an emergency meeting that required her personal attendance to speak on behalf of Lin Jiao.
Wen Yu also didn’t have the desire to stay, so she went back to Beicheng with Lin Yanqing and slept until the world went dark.
When she woke up, it was two in the afternoon. Lin Yanqing was not at home. Wen Yu opened her phone and found several messages from Sang Yun Duo.
Sang Yun Duo: “I’ll be working non-stop for a month at the end of the month. If you’re going to livestream, I might not be able to help you.”
Wen Yu replied with a voice message: “What a coincidence. I also have something to do later and don’t have time to livestream.”
Sang Yun Duo could tell she had just woken up and called her.
Wen Yu answered.
“You’re just waking up now? Where did you go to mess around last night?”
Wen Yu: “I took a red-eye flight.”
Sang Yun Duo: “You went on a trip?”
“Something like that.”
After a few pleasantries, Sang Yun Duo started to urge her to post new content. “By the way, you haven’t posted a video this month.”
“Oh,” Wen Yu’s mind turned. “I’ll film one in the next couple of days.”
“Did you see the event the official account posted? The ‘Summer Cooling Solution’ search term. You can hop on that trend.”
“Okay.”
“Then I’m going to get busy.”
Sang Yun Duo hung up the phone.
Wen Yu clicked on the search term and immediately thought of the island under Wen Yinghuan’s name, which was in the sea next to Liancheng. The temperature there was only in the low twenties in the middle of summer.
Wen Yu called her mom. Wen Yinghuan said that she would have the butler go over to tidy up first and that Wen Yu could leave tomorrow.
Just as they finished talking, Lin Yanqing came back.
Wen Yu was sitting on the sofa in the living room on the first floor, eating a peach. One of her hands was sticky with peach juice, and the other was holding a tablet, looking at high-speed rail tickets for tomorrow. The high-speed rail would go to Liancheng first, then she would take a taxi to the ferry terminal, and a boat would pick her up when she got there.
Her phone was on the side, on speaker.
Lin Yanqing: “On the phone with Mom?”
Wen Yinghuan heard her voice from the other end. “Xiao Lin, you’re back?”
Lin Yanqing: “Yes. What were you and Wen Wen talking about?”
Wen Yinghuan immediately sold out Wen Yu and even asked Lin Yanqing if she wanted to go.
“What is she going for? She’s very busy,” Wen Yu said this, but she was also a little confused about why Lin Yanqing was back before it even got dark. And she was back at this house, not the apartment next to her company.
“I’m not busy lately,” Lin Yanqing said. “If Wen Wen is going to the island, I’ll go too. She’ll be bored by herself.”
Wen Yu: Thanks, but I won’t be bored.
Lin Yanqing turned her head to look at her. Her lips moved, and she silently said, “To warm your bed.”
Wen Yu lifted her leg to kick her, but Lin Yanqing grabbed her ankle.
In this position, Lin Yanqing and Wen Yinghuan reached an agreement that the two of them would pack up and leave together tomorrow.
After the call ended, Wen Yu pulled her leg back. “How are you not busy again?”
Lin Yanqing didn’t say anything. She reached out and took the peach pit from Wen Yu’s hand and threw it in the trash can. Before Wen Yu could react, she reached out and pulled her into her arms.
Wen Yu: “?”
She held up one sticky hand. The tablet also fell to the floor. She couldn’t stand up straight. The only thing holding her up was Lin Yanqing’s arm around her back.
Wen Yu didn’t understand. “What are you doing?”
Lin Yanqing’s voice was muffled. “Wen Yu.”
“What?”
Lin Yanqing: “If I lost all my money, would you divorce me?”
What kind of new hypothetical game is this?
Wen Yu thought, Is this woman going to donate all her money and become a nun?
“Don’t worry about whether it will happen. Just tell me if you’ll divorce me,” Lin Yanqing said again.
Wen Yu only thought for three seconds. “Yes.”
Lin Yanqing bit Wen Yu’s ear.
“Are you a dog?” Wen Yu pushed her.
Lin Yanqing let go and buried her face in Wen Yu’s neck, not moving.
It was so out of character that even the oblivious Wen Yu noticed something was wrong. Although Lin Yanqing would often talk nonsense, she wouldn’t make a hypothetical assumption about herself going bankrupt. Even if she retired now, her net worth would be enough for her to spend for the rest of her life.
Did something happen?
“Was it the meeting this morning?” Wen Yu asked. “You didn’t go back to Zero One for the meeting. It was Baiyi, right? What happened to Baiyi? Or rather, what happened to Lin Jiao, right? What happened to your mom?”
Lin Yanqing finally spoke. “Who are you cursing?”
Wen Yu slapped Lin Yanqing’s back and rubbed her hands on it, wiping off the peach juice. “Stop being difficult. I’m asking you a question.”
Lin Yanqing looked up. “So if I lose all my money, you’ll divorce me?”
Wen Yu: “?”
Why is your thought process still stuck on that one sentence?
“If you dare to run, I’ll bring you back,” Lin Yanqing said.
Wen Yu finally realized that this woman was just being crazy again.
She pushed Lin Yanqing away and bossed her around. “Give me a wet wipe.”
Lin Yanqing pulled out a wet wipe, but she didn’t hand it to Wen Yu. Instead, she took Wen Yu’s hand and carefully wiped each of her fingers.
Wen Yu didn’t refuse since she was being served.
After Lin Yanqing finished wiping, she suddenly lowered her head and licked it. A jolt of electricity shot from her fingertips to her tailbone. Wen Yu quickly pulled her hand back.
“Are you sick?!”
“It’s peach-flavored,” Lin Yanqing said.
