How About A Divorce? - Chapter 23
Chapter 23: Just Deserts [VIP]
Wen Yu met Lin Yanqing’s gaze and was at a loss for words.
“Who cares about who else,” Wen Yu said. “Aren’t we the ones getting married now?”
“If it wasn’t me who was to be in a marriage alliance with you seven years ago, would you have agreed?”
When Lin Yanqing asked this, she took two steps toward Wen Yu. Her tone didn’t sound very angry. She just reached out and pulled Wen Yu closer to her.
Wen Rong, who was inexplicably left behind, “Huh?”
A petty sister-in-law.
Wen Yu was being pulled. Her courage to run away from home came back. “Don’t make up weird assumptions.”
She looked at Wen Rong. “So what were you guys going to tell me?”
“Little Lin is also here to tell you about this,” Wen Rong said. “She’ll tell you the details later. Let’s go into the private room first.”
After saying that, Wen Rong, who enjoyed watching the show, laughed. “Although I feel like there’s no need to say it. Wen Wen doesn’t seem to care.”
Lin Yanqing snorted. “Sister, your provocations are so low.”
Wen Rong smiled. “Whether it’s a provocation or not, Little Lin, you know in your heart.”
Wen Yu: “?”
Why does it feel like these two are about to argue? Wasn’t Lin Yanqing very respectful toward Wen Rong before?
If Lin Yanqing knew what Wen Yu was thinking, she would just sneer. The past is the past. Before, Wen Rong was my wife’s sister. Now, Wen Rong is the villain who wants to break up the couple. If it weren’t for the fact that there was still a bl00d relationship, Lin Yanqing wouldn’t be so polite.
The few of them entered the private room. Wen Yu sat down first. “Let’s talk.”
Lin Yanqing briefly explained the subsequent plans for Baiyi from Lin Jiao. Wen Yu was getting sleepy. Wen Rong quietly drank her tea and didn’t say anything. Only when Lin Yanqing started talking about the subsequent profit distribution did she gently put down her teacup.
Clink. It startled Wen Yu and woke her up.
Wen Rong: “Little Lin, get to the point.”
Lin Yanqing: “I’ve been getting to the point.”
“Divorce statement,” Wen Rong said these three words lightly.
Wen Yu didn’t hear clearly. “What?”
Lin Yanqing’s reaction was calm. “I didn’t agree.”
Wen Yu was confused. “You didn’t agree to what?”
Wen Rong: “If you don’t say it, I will.”
Lin Yanqing refused. “No. This is between us.”
Wen Yu: “Say what? What is it?”
Wen Rong: “You guys—”
Bang. Wen Yu slammed the table, startling both of them to look at her. Wen Yu’s displeasure was written all over her face. “Hello, you two. Can you show me some respect? Are you deaf? Can’t you hear me talking?”
The noise was too loud. The waiter outside pushed open a crack in the door and asked softly, “Do you need any service?”
Wen Rong waved her hand. After the door closed, Wen Yu crossed her arms and glared at the two of them.
“What kind of riddles are you two playing? Are you just wasting time?” She clicked her tongue. “Just say what you need to say. If you keep beating around the bush, I’m going to get mad.”
When young Miss Wen got annoyed, she didn’t care about anyone’s face. Three seconds after she spoke, no one answered, so she stood up and walked out, muttering as she went, “Both of you are sick.”
Wen Rong, who hadn’t been cussed out in a long time, “…”
Lin Yanqing, who was already used to it, “Ha.”
Wen Rong looked at the gloating Lin Yanqing. She was very calm. “It’s going to be said sooner or later. There’s no point in dragging it out.”
Lin Yanqing got up. “I’ll go and appease her. As for that matter, I told you, I didn’t agree.”
She walked out and saw Wen Yu standing at the doorway. A woman with long hair was standing a step away from her. She looked a little familiar.
Before Lin Yanqing could say anything, the long-haired woman suddenly stepped forward and hugged Wen Yu.
Lin Yanqing: “!”
Wen Yu was hugged, but she just laughed twice. The two of them quickly separated, with their arms linked.
Lin Yanqing: “…”
Wen Rong came out of the private room and saw this scene. She was stunned and stood beside Lin Yanqing, not saying a word.
The woman looked up and saw the two women standing there like wooden poles. She was confused for two seconds, and her expression was very strange.
It was probably like seeing someone dip dumplings in chocolate sauce.
The woman: “Lin Yanqing? …Sister Wen Rong?”
Only then did Lin Yanqing carefully examine the woman. She judged her identity from the subtle details of her face—Chen Yu’an, her and Wen Yu’s high school classmate.
Chen Yu’an lightly bumped Wen Yu’s shoulder. “How do you two know Sister Wen Rong?”
Wen Yu: “Did you not notice that we have the same last name?”
Chen Yu’an was stunned. She then widened her eyes and covered her mouth with her hand, suppressing her shock. “You’re sisters?!”
“Yes,” Wen Yu nodded. “How do you two know each other?”
Chen Yu’an said “ah” a few times. She looked at Wen Rong, feeling a little guilty, and stammered. Wen Yu noticed that something was off. Just as she was about to call out the strange atmosphere, Wen Rong said, “I often come to this club. Yu’an is the manager. We’ve had tea twice, so we’re friends.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Chen Yu’an nodded eagerly. “Yes, friends. A 24-karat pure friendship. How could I possibly like my classmate’s sister!”
The three of them: “…”
Lin Yanqing said, “Oh.”
So that’s what’s going on.
You two are both trying to win over the other.
You two are standing together.
Wen Rong: “…”
Chen Yu’an coughed twice and looked at Wen Yu, changing the subject. “By the way, Wen Wen, you and Yanqing have been together for so many years. Are you still together?”
Wen Yu said, “Yes.”
“That’s so great.”
Wen Yu and Lin Yanqing were so close in high school that they were practically conjoined twins. Although they had a falling out later, their image as a pair was deeply ingrained in people’s minds. Chen Yu’an naturally thought the two of them had made up.
Lin Yanqing was about to say something, but Wen Yu squeezed her wrist and gave her a warning look.
When the two of them got engaged, they didn’t notify any of their classmates or friends. After all, Lin Yanqing had the thought of running away from the wedding at the time. Even though she rushed back, it wasn’t good to send out invitations. The people who came to the engagement at that time were all from the business world. They weren’t there to give blessings. It was just a process that passed by in the blink of an eye. The wedding was too rushed later. After they got their marriage license, they were even busier. When they finally had some free time, Lin Yanqing asked Wen Yu if she wanted to invite friends to get together, but the two of them thought about it carefully and realized there was no one to invite.
Lin Yanqing didn’t make many friends in school, and after graduation, they were all scattered. Wen Yu, on the other hand, went abroad after graduation. The only close friend she had in the country was Chen Yu’an. Chen Yu’an had received an offer from a university in Germany. It was basically like being in prison. The two of them hadn’t seen each other since graduation.
It just so happened that Wen Yu also felt that it was too strange for two archenemies to get married. So they didn’t invite anyone, and the gathering was canceled.
“Yes, long live friendship,” Wen Yu said, following Chen Yu’an’s words. She asked her, “Don’t talk about us. What about you? When did you return to the country?”
“I just came back a few months ago. I was pulled back by my mom.” Chen Yu’an shrugged. “I’m just a nominal manager. When I heard there was an argument, I came to check on the situation, just in case. I didn’t expect to run into you guys.”
After she said that, her eyes darted to Wen Rong. The tips of her ears were suspiciously red.
Wen Yu and Lin Yanqing leaned against each other and looked at Wen Rong. “Oh.”
Wen Yu whispered in her ear. “I think Yu’an is doing this on purpose to force my sister’s hand.”
The emotional foundation they built in high school was still there. Even though they hadn’t seen each other for many years, one look and they knew that the other person was still the same as they were back then. Wen Yu was very clear about Chen Yu’an’s little thoughts. This woman was not the shy type.
Lin Yanqing nodded. “I think so too.”
Wen Rong, pretending to be an outsider, calmly crossed her arms and leaned against the door. “Wen Wen, are you that interested in other people’s business?”
Her gaze landed on Lin Yanqing. “You should take care of the person next to you. Lin Yanqing is hiding something from you.”
Wen Yu: “?”
She looked at Lin Yanqing. The latter was very steady. “My sister is changing the subject.”
Wen Rong snorted.
And Wen Yu always liked to poke the tiger’s nose. She didn’t mind helping her friend out. “Yu’an, do you like my sister?”
Wen Rong: “…”
Chen Yu’an: “!”
Lin Yanqing chuckled, but the smile quickly disappeared from her face.
How is this blockhead so sensitive to other people’s feelings?
After Wen Yu dropped this bomb, she was waiting to see what kind of a splash it would make. Wen Rong’s phone suddenly rang. The person on the other end was reminding Wen Rong not to forget the meeting they had scheduled.
The bomb became a dud just like that. Wen Rong just said goodbye and left. Before she left, she nodded at Chen Yu’an. The latter was probably controlled by hormones and stared in the direction the person left for a long time.
Wen Yu complained to Lin Yanqing, “That’s such a typical love-struck person.”
And there’s also a love-struck person who’s also very typical but has never realized it because they’re a blockhead: “…”
Chen Yu’an suddenly sighed. She retracted her gaze and ran a hand through her hair. “Wen Wen, your sister is so hard to win over.”
“I don’t know. I’ve never tried,” Wen Yu said.
Chen Yu’an: “…”
She stopped pretending and laughed out loud. She hooked her arm around Wen Yu’s. “Why do I love your mouth so much!”
“Thank you. I love it too,” Wen Yu said.
Chen Yu’an burst into laughter. Her previous dignified facade was completely gone.
Lin Yanqing pulled Wen Yu out of the circle of Chen Yu’an’s laughter. Wen Yu said calmly, “My sister is getting her just deserts.”
“Is that how you talk about your own sister?” Lin Yanqing curled her lips and added, “I hope our big sister stumbles.”
Wen Yu was amused. “Is that how you talk about your own wife’s sister?”
Chen Yu’an didn’t hear what they said. After she laughed at herself, she took out her phone and swiped to a message. “Since we ran into each other, are you free next week?”
Wen Yu: “What’s up?”
“I haven’t had time since I came back to the country. I’ll have two days next week, so I’m planning to meet up with everyone. There’s a gathering next Saturday night. It’s all high school classmates. I was going to meet up with you first and then tell you about it, but since we ran into each other now, let’s just confirm it.”
“Okay, I’m free.”
Chen Yu’an laughed. “It’ll be very interesting if you come.”
Wen Yu: “Why?”
Chen Yu’an: “Do you remember that guy in high school who confessed to you and you rejected him? He saw your video and said you’re not doing anything proper and just being an internet celebrity. He also spread rumors—don’t worry, I’ve already gotten someone to slap him in the face. Now he knows I’m back and he’s shamelessly trying to come to the gathering because he wants to see how miserable you are now.”
“I was originally planning to take you to slap him. I was going to back you up. But now that I know your sister is Wen Rong, and you’re the second young lady of the Wen family…” Chen Yu’an clicked her tongue. “You’ve been hiding it well, Wen Wen. I just found out. I don’t need to back you up anymore. Just by standing there, you’ll be a slap in that guy’s face.”
“Lin Yanqing, you should come too. Everyone knows you’re at Zero One now. You weren’t low-key in high school. You should come and back Wen Wen up too!” Chen Yu’an said.
“What’s that guy’s background?” Lin Yanqing asked.
“He does cross-border e-commerce. It’s a small and medium-sized enterprise. It’s not worth mentioning. I’ll send you the information later.”
“Okay.”
Wen Yu frowned. “There’s no need to waste time on a person like that.”
Lin Yanqing: “It’s not a waste. I’ll just give it to Zhang Cheng to practice on.”
“Oh, right,” Chen Yu’an remembered something. “Yanqing, are you married? I remember a friend of mine from Zero One told me that their CEO Lin is married.”
“Yes,” Lin Yanqing glanced at Wen Yu and nodded.
Chen Yu’an’s eyes darted back and forth between the two of them.
Wen Yu subconsciously leaned against Lin Yanqing, thinking that Chen Yu’an was about to spill the beans. But then the latter’s mouth drooped, and she said with a complex expression, “You two, one is married and one is single. Are you getting too close?”
Wen Yu: “?”
Chen Yu’an bit her lip. It seemed like morality and law were fighting in her head. “Wen Wen, your sister is with you, but I don’t believe in the idea that the unloved one is the homewrecker.”
Wen Yu: “…”
These words, which went against the natural order, fell to the ground and were picked up by Wen Yu’s heart.
She thought to herself, The unloved one is the legal wife, my dear sister.
