How About A Divorce? - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: The White Moonlight [VIP]
“If you can’t say it, none of you will leave today.”
Lin Yanqing said this lightly and walked to Wen Yu’s side. Chen Yu’an was very perceptive and made space for Lin Yanqing to sit down.
She came in a hurry, still wearing her usual work attire—a thin, smoke-grey suit jacket over a white shirt. She hadn’t even taken off her anti-blue light glasses. It was clear she was still looking at her computer before getting out of the car.
“Speak,” Lin Yanqing raised her chin. “Speak freely.”
Yang Ming’s face turned green, and Wang Hao was so scared he was frozen like a block of fat. The faces of the people behind them also looked bad. The group had their air valves removed. They couldn’t move up or down and were about to suffocate themselves.
“Speak,” Lin Yanqing’s voice was not loud and had no fluctuations, but it was as clear and cold as ice, hitting everyone’s eardrums. “What circle? What mistress?”
Everyone was sweating profusely. How could they dare to say it? Their so-called “circle” was just a small group of second-generation kids who weren’t rich enough to be at the top but not poor enough to be at the bottom. They usually just bragged and gossiped. Who would dare to provoke someone with the background of the Lin family?
Yang Ming’s throat tightened. The smugness he had from standing on the moral high ground was shattered in the face of absolute power.
“It’s all a misunderstanding…” he said stubbornly.
“What misunderstanding? Where did the misunderstanding come from? And who started this misunderstanding?” Lin Yanqing curled her lips. “To be precise, this rumor. Where did it come from?”
“Filthy minds see filth. These people are used to selling themselves,” Wen Yu said with a smile.
“Bullshit!” The pork fat rose up to defend his questionable chastity. “I’m clean!”
“Then who knows?” Chen Yu’an said with a chuckle.
“That’s right. Looking at him, clinging to Yang Ming like that, it’s not impossible that these two are having an affair,” a girl said.
“It’s said that this kind of fat person is very popular in their circle.”
“So dirty. I wonder how his father raised such an unchaste son.”
…
The women looked at the two men at the center of the storm and whispered among themselves.
All of these words reached the ears of the men. Some of the men who were watching the show couldn’t stand it anymore.
“That’s enough. It’s enough for Wang Hao and Yang Ming to apologize. Don’t say such nasty things,” a man said.
Chen Yu’an raised her eyebrow. “Oh, a neutral party has arrived. Why weren’t you speaking up just now?”
This group of men was brought by Yang Ming. They just wanted to use the excuse of being old classmates to get a connection with the Chen family. They weren’t close, and their morals were questionable.
Wen Yu looked over. “Who are you?”
Chen Yu’an answered for him. “Liu Feinan. He’s in the hotel business. You don’t have to worry about it. I’ll handle it. I’ll have his mom come and take this troublesome thing away later.”
Seeing the person who tried to stand up being so easily dealt with by Chen Yu’an, the rest of the people pretended to be dead and didn’t make a sound, for fear of getting caught in the crossfire.
But not speaking didn’t mean their eyes wouldn’t curse people. Wen Yu noticed a few unfriendly gazes and pointed at them like a demon king. “And this one, that one, and the one in the back. Whose kids are you?”
The faces of the people Wen Yu pointed to instantly turned pale. Cold sweat broke out on their foreheads.
“I don’t know. I’ll have my assistant check later. I’ll handle what I can, and what I can’t, I’ll send to Lin Yanqing.”
“You’re going too far!” one of the people who was pointed at said indignantly.
“What are you saying? We’re just choosing suitable partners,” Chen Yu’an said with a smile. “If you’re capable, you can choose too. What, you don’t like being the client?”
The blonde woman chimed in, “They’re not capable.”
Everyone burst into laughter. Chen Yu’an patted the blonde woman’s shoulder. “Babe, your reflexes are getting faster!”
During this time, Lin Yanqing just lowered her eyes and played with Wen Yu’s hand, smiling along.
After dealing with these irrelevant people, everyone’s attention was back on Yang Ming and Wang Hao.
Yang Ming had already seen the situation clearly. He calmed down and took a step forward. “I’m sorry, Wen Yu. I spoke without thinking. I can compensate you for anything you want.”
“If your mind isn’t clear, you should manage your tongue. If you can’t, it’s useless to keep it,” Lin Yanqing said this lightly, but it made Yang Ming subconsciously clench his back teeth. A layer of cold sweat broke out on his back.
Yang Ming: “…CEO Lin is just joking.”
“Who’s joking with you? Who do you think you are?” Wen Yu sneered. “And that block of pork, stop playing dead. Tell us, did the rumor come from you?”
The pork trembled and said, “It wasn’t me…”
“Then who was it?” Wen Yu smiled gently. “If you don’t give me a clear answer today, I’ll put you in the microwave to render the fat.”
Lin Yanqing turned her head, revealing a confused expression that didn’t match her demeanor. “Can you really render fat in a microwave?”
Wen Yu whispered, “Sang Yun told me. I don’t know either.”
Lin Yanqing: “I’ll try it when I get back.”
The blonde woman glanced at the two who were close to each other, turned her head, and whispered to Chen Yu’an, “Is this person very powerful?”
She pointed at Lin Yanqing.
Chen Yu’an nodded. “Very powerful.”
Ordinary people only knew Lin Yanqing from the Zero One engine. But the people present were all in business. Who didn’t know that Baiyi was behind Zero One, and that the founder of Baiyi was Lin Jiao—some people had even seen Lin Jiao at high school parent-teacher conferences.
With her identity, no one dared to make a scene.
Unless they were ignorant.
Wen Yu leaned against Lin Yanqing, using her authority to her advantage, and looked at the two men. “Speak.”
As soon as Wen Yu’s voice fell, Wang Hao plopped down and knelt.
“I started it. I was ignorant, classmate Wen. Please forgive me!”
Wen Yu clicked her tongue in disgust. “Are you two flirting with each other? Do you think I’m blind?”
Yang Ming’s face was tight. “Wen Yu, that’s enough. Wang Hao has already admitted his mistake.”
“Enough my foot,” Wen Yu pointed to her phone. “I’m too lazy to talk nonsense with you anymore. Spreading rumors, huh? A so-called ‘circle,’ huh? Go talk to my lawyer.”
In less than ten seconds, a car drove in. Three women dressed as lawyers got out of the car. The one leading them was familiar to everyone—a famous gold-medal lawyer in Beicheng. Those in business had basically all patronized her firm.
It was very grand.
Chen Yu’an whispered, “You’re showing off.”
Wen Yu raised her chin, practically writing “That’s right!” on her face.
She had specifically asked someone to make them arrive at the right moment.
Lawyer Zhang walked up to Lin Yanqing. “CEO Lin, Miss Wen has briefly explained the situation to me. We’ll take over the rest of the process.”
Lin Yanqing looked at Wen Yu, her eyes saying: You’re using my name?
Wen Yu glared back: Nonsense. I don’t want my mom to know about this kind of annoying stuff.
Lin Yanqing smiled and nodded at Lawyer Zhang. “Thank you for your trouble.”
“It’s my pleasure.”
After Lawyer Zhang said that, she politely gestured to Wang Hao. “Mr. Wang, please come with us.”
Yang Ming: “Wen Yu, aren’t you making a big deal out of this?”
Why would they need a lawyer of this caliber to handle this small matter?!
“You’ll know if I’m making a big deal out of it when the verdict comes down,” Wen Yu said calmly.
“Brother Yang, you have to help me!” Wang Hao cried.
“It’s a small matter. Just pay some money,” Yang Ming frowned.
These people all thought that Wen Yu was just using Lin Yanqing’s power to make them feel bad—after all, lawsuits for “slander” wouldn’t have a very serious verdict. But what they didn’t know was that Wen Yu’s lawsuit for defamation included the loss of assets of the second young lady of the Wen family. Wang Hao would have to pay a lot and could even go to jail for a few years.
“I’m sorry, sir, you also have to come with us, or I can add you as a contact and you can recommend your lawyer to me,” Lawyer Zhang said to Yang Ming.
Yang Ming looked at Wen Yu fiercely. “What do you mean?”
“What do I mean? Didn’t you also spread rumors? Did you get Alzheimer’s and forget?”
Yang Ming: “You—!”
“Hurry up. Don’t waste people’s time. After you give her your contact information, get lost. We still have a party to attend,” Chen Yu’an said.
Lawyer Zhang smiled politely.
Yang Ming, on the other hand, calmed down. He stared at the group with a heavy gaze.
To him, this whole process was more humiliating than actually harmful.
Yang Ming was also used to being pampered and spoiled. His face had never been stepped on like this. He couldn’t hold back his anger and sneered. “You’re going too far.”
Wen Yu: “Are you a person?”
Lin Yanqing chuckled.
Yang Ming was furious. “Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you have Lin Yanqing on your side. My Yang family also has some connections!”
“I’ll give you half an hour,” Wen Yu said.
Yang Ming was stunned. “What?”
Wen Yu: “I’m giving you time to call your connections. Do you not understand human language?”
After saying that, she leaned into Lin Yanqing’s arms and clicked her tongue twice. “Where did this caveman come from? He’s so uncultured.”
If Wen Yu wanted to, she could say things that would make people die of anger without having to pay for it.
Yang Ming was so angry that he actually made a call. He only regained some sanity when his phone started ringing.
To bother my older sister for this kind of thing…
Wen Yu turned her head and asked Chen Yu’an, “By the way, what kind of connections does he have?”
Chen Yu’an: “…”
So you didn’t even know that? Then why were you being so arrogant?
Chen Yu’an sighed. “I’ll ask my mom.”
As she was typing, she heard Lin Yanqing say, “No need.”
Lin Yanqing handed her phone to Wen Yu. It showed the information sent by Zhang Cheng.
—Li Hua, Yang Ming’s older cousin on his aunt’s side.
“She looks familiar,” Wen Yu said.
“Do you know her?”
“I think I’ve seen her with my sister,” Wen Yu sent the information to Wen Rong. Wen Rong only sent one word: Speak.
“Her cousin Yang Ming slandered me,” Wen Yu typed.
Wen Rong: Okay.
On the other side, Yang Ming couldn’t get through the call and was sweating profusely. Finally, the call went through. He was overjoyed. He just opened his mouth and said one word: “Sister…”
The person on the other end said something, and Yang Ming’s expression suddenly changed to one of fear. Soon, the call was hung up.
The pool water rippled, reflecting the deadly silence. The reflection landed on Yang Ming’s face, but it couldn’t brighten the darkness.
“I’m done for…” he muttered.
His behavior scared Wang Hao so much that he was trembling. “What does that mean, bro?”
“I’m done for!” Yang Ming shouted.
“Take them out,” Chen Yu’an pressed the intercom and instructed the security guards.
The security guards moved swiftly. In less than a minute, all the troublesome people were taken out. Wang Hao and Yang Ming were in a separate car, following Lawyer Zhang and her team.
The air instantly cleared.
Through all of this, Wen Yu didn’t even move her butt. She felt physically and mentally comfortable—it had been a long time since she had had such a satisfying argument. After all, it was rare for her to run into a brainless person.
“Your sister is so cool. I love her,” Chen Yu’an said, holding her heart.
“My sister just passed on a message. They were in the wrong from the start. Look at how infatuated you are,” Wen Yu squeezed Chen Yu’an’s arm. “She said she would come and check on the situation. I told her there was no need, but she still insisted on coming. Take the opportunity, Comrade Chen.”
Chen Yu’an: “!”
She asked, “When will she be here?”
“She should be here soon.”
Chen Yu’an immediately turned around and told the blonde woman to get everyone to go inside. She herself ran upstairs to doll herself up, preparing to change her spaghetti-strap shorts into something gentle and sophisticated.
The blonde woman shouted, “Let’s go, let’s go! The party is just starting now! Let’s get it, ladies!”
Suddenly transitioning from a “courtroom” to a buffet party, Wen Yu was a little unaccustomed to it. Fortunately, Chen Yu’an didn’t do anything extra. It was just pure eating, drinking, and playing. She adapted quickly and sat on the side with a fruit plate, munching away.
Lin Yanqing sat next to Wen Yu, replying to messages on her phone.
“Lychees,” Wen Yu pushed a plate of lychees in front of Lin Yanqing.
Chen Yu’an had changed her clothes and came over just in time to see this scene. She was about to sigh about the greatness of friendship when she saw Lin Yanqing put down her phone, take a wet wipe to clean her hands, and then peel a lychee and hold it up to Wen Yu’s mouth.
Wen Yu unceremoniously took it with her mouth.
Chen Yu’an: “…”
Can these two be a little more reserved?!
Before Chen Yu’an could go over to remind them, the blonde woman had already sat on the sofa catty-corner to Wen Yu and started a conversation. “You two have such a good relationship. Are you a couple?”
Many subtle gazes fell on the two of them.
Everyone knew that Lin Yanqing was married. It was said to be a marriage of convenience. Their identities and statuses were comparable. The two families had hidden the identity of the young lady very well. Not many people knew who Lin Yanqing’s wife was. Seeing this unfold today, many people shared the same thought as Chen Yu’an—Lin Yanqing was having an extramarital affair with Wen Yu.
Otherwise, why would she back up Wen Yu so much and spoil her like this?
But these things were not good to talk about openly, and they couldn’t ask too many questions.
Chen Yu’an went over and pinched the blonde woman’s shoulder, her smile strained. “What are you talking about? They’re just friends.”
The last few words were emphasized, and the sound was quite loud. It was not just for the blonde woman’s ears.
Chen Yu’an was the type to help her friends, not to be fair. Although Wen Yu and Lin Yanqing’s relationship was a bit of a challenge to her bottom line, Chen Yu’an still unconditionally supported Wen Yu and wouldn’t spread rumors.
But there were many people at this party who were not close to Wen Yu. Who knew how the news would spread? It was better to have less trouble than more.
Wen Yu ate her lychees with a smile. Lin Yanqing whispered in her ear. “You’re just going to let people misunderstand like this?”
“I’ll tell Chen Yu’an the truth after the party is over. There’s no need for everyone to know,” Wen Yu whispered back, explaining.
This scene looked to Chen Yu’an like Wen Yu was watching the show and didn’t mind the trouble. The fire was already burning, and she was still flirting with someone!
“Wen Wen,” Chen Yu’an said in a low voice. “I have something for you. Come with me to get it.”
“Okay,” Wen Yu got up.
Lin Yanqing: “Do you want to eat more lychees?”
Wen Yu: “Peel some for me when I get back.”
Chen Yu’an: “…”
Chen Yu’an pulled her away.
When they got to the second floor, Chen Yu’an casually shoved her into a room. Her finger was almost poking Wen Yu’s forehead. “Wen, you two need to restrain yourselves!”
“Look at how scared you are,” Wen Yu said, and her butt, as if on autopilot, connected with the sofa in three seconds.
Chen Yu’an followed her. “I know you’re not afraid of getting into trouble because of your identity, but aren’t you afraid that this will reach Lin Yanqing’s wife’s ears?”
“No, I’m not.”
“You’re going to make me die of anger,” Chen Yu’an was fuming.
“Calm down.”
Chen Yu’an suddenly took a deep breath and said earnestly, “Lin Yanqing is not suitable for you.”
Seeing that Chen Yu’an was about to have a heart attack and start advising them to break up, Wen Yu smiled. Just as she was about to tell her the truth, she heard Chen Yu’an say, “She has someone in her heart.”
Wen Yu’s smile froze. “What?”
“Do you remember the time we had a class gathering after the final exams in high school?”
Chen Yu’an sat down and stared at Wen Yu. Wen Yu straightened up, placing her arms on her thighs, leaning forward slightly. It was a subconsciously aggressive posture. “I remember. What about it?”
“You fell asleep in the second half of it. We played truth or dare.”
The air of puberty was restless with暧昧. Any boring game, as long as it was related to “liking,” would become a tacit option for the teenagers.
The private room was very large. Wen Yu was curled up in the corner of the sofa, with Lin Yanqing’s school uniform draped over her.
“I’m so tired,” she said. “I did two sets of practice questions last night.”
“Then take a nap.”
“Okay,” Wen Yu said and closed her eyes.
Lin Yanqing stayed by Wen Yu’s side, looking up words on her phone.
Someone suggested, “Let’s play a game!”
Chen Yu’an responded enthusiastically, “What should we play?”
“Truth or dare.” The person took out a set of punishment cards. “I just got them.”
The group had no objections. Wen Yu found it too noisy. Lin Yanqing put noise-canceling headphones on her.
She leaned down and asked in Wen Yu’s ear, “Music or listening comprehension?”
Wen Yu said without any life, “If I listen to another listening comprehension, I’m going to sleep and never wake up.”
Lin Yanqing smiled and put on some white noise for her.
Chen Yu’an poked her head over. “Isn’t Wen Wen going to play?”
Lin Yanqing: “She’s taking a nap.”
“Oh, okay,” Chen Yu’an looked at Lin Yanqing. “You come and play too. It’ll be more lively with more people.”
They used a spinning bottle. The people who were spun to in the first few rounds all chose truth. The person asking the questions was also very cooperative, asking questions that would make people’s hearts flutter. The atmosphere was lively and ambiguous. The hazy feelings were like mist, mixed with the scent of fruit wine. Everyone in it was getting high.
It was another round. The bottle swayed and stopped in Wen Yu’s direction.
Someone wanted to wake Wen Yu up. Lin Yanqing suddenly reached out, and her fingertip pushed the bottle a little, pointing it toward herself.
“I’ll go. She’ll just make a fuss when she wakes up.”
She would only make a fuss about herself. Lin Yanqing thought. Her crankiness was specific.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but smile. Chen Yu’an also drew two cards and asked Lin Yanqing, “Truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
Chen Yu’an flipped over a card and read, “Is the person you like a ‘white moonlight’ or a ‘cinnabar mole’?”
Lin Yanqing was stunned.
Chen Yu’an: “This question is a little tricky.”
It directly assumed that the person being asked had someone they liked, but it was also easy to answer. They could just say they didn’t.
