How About A Divorce? - Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Confession [VIP]
Wen Yu was standing in the front row below the stage. A line of women came out from the side. The one in the middle was particularly dazzling. As soon as she appeared, she threw a wink at Wen Yu.
Chen Yu’an: “That’s her.”
After the opening song ended, the members interacted with the fans below, holding hands and taking pictures, pushing the atmosphere to a climax. The dopamine in the air made Wen Yu feel much better, and she cheered with the crowd.
“This next song is for you,” Xie Shu raised her hand to quiet the commotion, her voice soft, like a lover’s whisper.
The lyrics and music were of high quality, and with Xie Shu’s good voice, Wen Yu was so engrossed that she whispered to Chen Yu’an, “To be honest, it’s making my heart flutter.”
Chen Yu’an: “Isn’t she pretty? Her debut title is ‘Rebellious Academic.’ If it were in high school, what would your Lin Yanqing even be?”
Before, Chen Yu’an thought Lin Yanqing was a cool academic. Now, she’s been downgraded to a scumbag who sits at the same table as a dog.
“I said her song is good, not that she’s pretty.”
“Just tell me if she’s pretty or not.”
Wen Yu was honest. “She’s pretty.”
When Wen Yu was whispering to Chen Yu’an, she didn’t notice that everyone on stage had come down. Screams rose and fell.
A figure stopped in front of Wen Yu. She looked up and met Xie Shu’s eyes.
The song had reached a small climax. Affection flowed into people’s hearts. Wen Yu’s ears were filled with screams. Someone was almost shoving their phone in Xie Shu’s face.
Xie Shu suddenly took Wen Yu’s hand.
The screams went up another level. Xie Shu sang, “I want to hold your hand just like this…”
Fans: “Ah—!”
Some fans were so excited they were about to cry.
Wen Yu felt like her head was about to be blown off, and she also found the scene amusing. Xie Shu was truly unfazed by a mountain collapsing in front of her. Several phones were almost touching her forehead.
Xie Shu was very composed. She slowly lifted Wen Yu’s hand and placed her own face in Wen Yu’s palm, even rubbing against it, like a lazy, noble little cat cozying up to its owner.
Before Wen Yu could even comment, a girl behind her let out a piercing shriek. Her attention was instantly diverted, and she thought, Wow, a dolphin sound. I suggest she compete with Xie Shu on the same stage.
Thinking this, she was amused and couldn’t stop laughing. She casually pinched Xie Shu’s cheek.
Xie Shu was stunned. She hadn’t expected Wen Yu to flirt back. Her eyes widened, making her look even more like a cat. She blinked, threw a wink, and turned to go back on stage with her teammates.
Chen Yu’an bumped Wen Yu’s shoulder. “You’re smiling so brightly, baby.”
“You don’t understand my sense of humor,” Wen Yu said.
“I do. Who doesn’t like someone who’s so good at flirting? If I didn’t already have a thing for your sister, I’d like her too.”
Wen Yu stopped explaining and just smiled. “I’ll tell my sister for you.”
Chen Yu’an immediately replied, “Wen Xiaoyu, you’re asking for a fight.”
Wen Yu laughed so hard she was shaking.
This street performance had a lot of interaction. Wen Yu had been standing there for half an hour and had already held hands with all the members. Her hand smelled fragrant.
In between songs, the members stood below the stage and took photos with fans. The scene was a little quieter. Wen Yu heard her phone ringing. She picked it up and saw it was Lin Yanqing.
Chen Yu’an also saw it and clicked her tongue.
“Are you going to answer?” she asked.
Wen Yu glanced around. She couldn’t find a quiet place, so she said, “No.”
She hung up the call directly.
The phone rang again. Chen Yu’an asked, “Could it be something urgent?”
Wen Yu also hesitated.
Theoretically, she would only call a second time if it was urgent. Urgent matters did not include Lin Yanqing suddenly getting clingy—she had been as good as dead for the past week. Wen Yu wasn’t sure if Lin Yanqing was calling about a matter or for her, especially since they were in a cold war.
But she didn’t have much time to think. In just a few seconds, the line of interactions moved in front of them. Xie Shu wanted to take Wen Yu’s phone and turn on the video to record a fan service. When she saw Lin Yanqing’s caller ID, she raised her eyebrows.
Miss Xie the Third, of course, knew about Wen Yu and Lin Yanqing’s relationship. She was already planning to steal her away, so she wasn’t afraid of making a scene. While Wen Yu wasn’t paying attention, she took the phone, pressed the microphone to her lips, and asked in a wronged voice, “Didn’t you come to see me, big sister?”
The fans started to scream, yelling, “Yes, they did!”
“Am I not performing well? Why do you still need to answer someone else’s phone?”
The fans were mesmerized. “Ahhhhhhh—!”
Wen Yu: “I…”
Xie Shu: “Let me hang up the phone for you, okay?”
Wen Yu: “You…”
Xie Shu directly hung up the call. She covered the microphone with her hand and whispered in Wen Yu’s ear, “Big sister, please focus and only look at me, okay? I was so excited to meet you when I got the call.”
Wen Yu: “…”
After doing her mischief, Xie Shu returned the phone. She still couldn’t resist.
“Is she sexually repressed?”
Xie Shu: “…”
Chen Yu’an: “…”
What a waste of her charm. She’s a pig with pearls.
Chen Yu’an really wanted to light a cigarette. She said earnestly, “Wen Yu, although Lin Yanqing is wrong, you’re making things too hard for her.”
CEO Lin, your wife is here.
Chen Yu’an waved at Xie Shu. “We’re going up first. You can come find us when you’re done.”
Xie Shu put on her professional smile and nodded at Chen Yu’an.
Wen Yu was dragged away by Chen Yu’an.
Upstairs, when she saw Wen Yu and Chen Yu’an walking up the stairs, Lin Yanqing said to the person on the other end of the phone, “Yes, your sister is trying to seduce my wife.”
After seeing Xie Shu hang up her call with her own eyes, Lin Yanqing called Xie Min, her eldest sister.
Xie Min sighed and said apologetically, “Okay, I’ll go take care of it now.”
With that, she hung up.
Lin Yanqing walked towards the dressing room. The two bodyguards at the door tried to stop her. The next second, one of the bodyguards received a phone call. In a matter of seconds, both of them respectfully stepped aside.
Lin Yanqing told Zhang Cheng to wait for her in the car and entered the room. Three minutes later, Wen Yu and Chen Yu’an came around the corner and entered the same room.
Chen Yu’an: “You’re going to stay here and wait for her to finish her performance so we can go eat. There’s only half an hour left.”
Wen Yu: “But I’m tired.”
“Then we’ll wait for her to bring her home to rest. We’ll cook at home. You can do whatever you want.”
Wen Yu lay down on the sofa. “Then I’d rather eat out.”
She opened her phone and started scrolling, looking as if she had given in.
In the dressing room behind a screen, Lin Yanqing heard Chen Yu’an’s meaningful words. She was about to lift the curtain and walk out.
Suddenly, she heard Chen Yu’an say faintly, “What are you looking at?”
Wen Yu: “Just scrolling.”
“Not reading a book?”
“No,” Wen Yu answered subconsciously, then realized what Chen Yu’an meant. “Don’t worry. I’m not reading that stuff anymore.”
Chen Yu’an sneered. “If I find you reading that brain-dead marriage stuff again, I’ll tie you up and deliver you to Lin Yanqing’s bed. I hope you two stay together forever and never enter the market.”
Lin Yanqing’s footsteps stopped. “…”
That… sounds pretty good?
Wen Yu: “You are so cruel.”
Chen Yu’an: “I’ll tie you two together and launch you on a rocket into space to give the old gods a taste of what it’s like to be lovesick.”
Wen Yu: “…”
Chen Yu’an: “A sugar daddy should act like a sugar daddy. Xie Shu is such a beautiful canary, and she doesn’t want you to be responsible. Try being her sugar daddy. It’s good to distract yourself.”
Wen Yu sighed. “I really don’t mean it.”
“This method works. Trust me.”
“Have you practiced it?” Wen Yu asked casually, not expecting Chen Yu’an to say yes.
Wen Yu looked at her in surprise. “Tell me.”
“I used to date a student who didn’t want to come back to the country, so we broke up. I was miserable for a while, and then I ran into your sister,” Chen Yu’an shrugged. “Do you know what love at first sight is? I instantly forgot about the past and became your sister’s dog ever since.”
Wen Yu poured cold water on her. “My sister doesn’t lack dogs.”
Chen Yu’an was stumped.
Wen Yu: “I just want to be alone right now. I have no intention of cheating.”
“What’s so bad about that?” Chen Yu’an disagreed. “Lin Yanqing has someone in her heart. She’s emotionally cheating. You’re just a sugar daddy to a canary. You’re not even in love. What’s so bad about that? You two have an open relationship.”
Wen Yu pretended to be amazed. “Wow.”
Lin Yanqing, behind the curtain, was confused.
What’s going on? What emotional cheating?
She frowned and started to review every detail from the day Wen Yu brought up the divorce.
Wen Yu heard her say that she had a “white moonlight.” Although she later explained that she said it without thinking, she didn’t know if Wen Yu believed her—now it seemed she didn’t. Later, Wen Yu asked if she was cheating. At that time, she said no and almost confessed, but she didn’t expect Wen Yu to differentiate between emotional and physical cheating. That night, Wen Yu brought up withdrawal. At the time, she was focused on whether Wen Yu was starting to like her and didn’t pay much attention to the reason for the divorce…
In a flash, Lin Yanqing figured everything out.
There’s an old saying: misinformation kills people.
Lin Yanqing experienced it firsthand and almost fell hard.
Before this, Lin Yanqing had been a coward, taking things slowly, like boiling a frog in warm water, to guide Wen Yu to discover a possible affection for her. When the time was right, she would honestly confess. But now, it was different. If she didn’t say it now, Wen Yu would run off with a canary, and with the belief that “Lin Yanqing is cheating.”
Lin Yanqing clicked her tongue, grabbed the curtain, and wanted to explain everything to her right away.
Outside, Chen Yu’an suddenly said, “Wen, don’t let me see you with Lin Yanqing again, or I’ll kill both of you.”
Her voice was full of malice.
Lin Yanqing’s neck felt a chill, and she immediately stopped.
Chen Yu’an: “Don’t even think about running. I’ll wait with you.”
Wen Yu groaned theatrically.
Lin Yanqing thought for three seconds, opened her contacts, and started to draft a message.
A few minutes later, Chen Yu’an received a call. Someone said that a project partner wanted to meet with her to discuss the contract details. It was an important client. They asked if Chen Yu’an was available tonight.
She frowned and said to the assistant on the other end, “Hold on.”
Wen Yu looked up. “What’s wrong?”
Chen Yu’an: “Can you and Xie Shu go to dinner alone tonight? I have something to do.”
Wen Yu’s eyes darted around. “No problem.”
Chen Yu’an anticipated her. “If you dare to flake on her, I’ll turn you into pigeon soup.”
“…” Wen Yu coughed. “Don’t worry.”
Chen Yu’an said to the phone, “Send me the address. I’m on my way.”
Before she left, Chen Yu’an pointed at Wen Yu. “You better behave.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Wen Yu lay on the sofa and saluted her.
After Chen Yu’an left, Wen Yu guessed that it was almost time. She sat up and was about to make a run for it.
Her hand was on the doorknob. As she opened it a crack, an arm reached out from her side and pushed the door closed again. Someone was behind her. Because the body was so familiar, Wen Yu didn’t try to get away at first.
Lin Yanqing’s breath was on her ear. “Wen Wen, is this how you’re doing your withdrawal? By being a sugar daddy to a canary?”
Wen Yu turned her head, looking confused. For a moment, she didn’t know whether to tell Lin Yanqing to let go or to question how this woman had appeared here.
Is she a stalker? What a pervert.
She quickly went through the thoughts in her mind and decided to answer Lin Yanqing’s question first. “Yes. What about it? Is there a problem?”
Lin Yanqing was choked by Wen Yu’s righteous question.
She rested her chin on Wen Yu’s shoulder, her voice flat. “Yes, there is.”
Wen Yu: “?”
I don’t care what you think.
“Let go.”
“I won’t.”
Lin Yanqing tightened her arms around the person in her arms. “You haven’t been home for a week. Do you really not want to see me that much?”
“Heh,” Wen Yu curled her lips. “One of your biggest strengths is that you know yourself well.”
Lin Yanqing: “…”
She went along with it. “I think you like me.”
Wen Yu: “That strength is gone now.”
Lin Yanqing: “But I like you.”
Wen Yu was stunned.
Lin Yanqing repeated, “I like you, Wen Yu.”
