How About A Divorce? - Chapter 35
Chapter 35: Hot Springs [VIP]
Lin Yanqing slept for a long time.
After Wen Yu woke up, she made a simple meal. By around 2 PM, Lin Yanqing still hadn’t moved, so she went back to take a nap. She had only been asleep for fifteen minutes when she felt something clamping her leg.
Her pajama pants were all wrinkled.
Wen Yu half-opened her eyes and mumbled, “Are you trying to kill me?”
When Lin Yanqing saw that she was awake, she stopped holding back. She wrapped her whole body around Wen Yu, her voice muffled. “What time is it?”
Wen Yu: “A little after 2 PM.”
“I slept for more than ten hours?”
“Yeah,” Wen Yu held Lin Yanqing’s hand. “I thought you were dead.”
“Not dead. I’m alive,” Lin Yanqing said.
“I can tell,” Wen Yu suddenly huffed. “Stop it!”
“Why should I stop?” Lin Yanqing had probably gotten enough sleep, and her energy was back. “We’re at home. It’s a legal relationship.”
“We’re divorced.”
“Boss, I wasn’t talking about a marital relationship,” Lin Yanqing said with a low laugh.
“Lin Yanqing!”
“I’m here,” Lin Yanqing pulled Wen Yu’s hand downward. “Don’t just talk. Let other parts move too.”
…
After the little commotion, Wen Yu couldn’t go back to sleep. She kicked Lin Yanqing out of bed and told her to get lost.
Lin Yanqing tidied up the mess and asked, “What do you want for dinner? I’ll cook.”
Wen Yu: “Eat sh1t.”
“Be a little nicer to yourself. Improve your food,” Lin Yanqing said calmly.
Wen Yu: “…”
Pfft!
“I haven’t been back for a week. Are there any vegetables in the fridge?”
“It’s the same as before. It’s probably not fresh. I’ll have the helper send some more over.”
Lin Yanqing: “You’ve been ordering takeout these past few days?”
Wen Yu: “I was staying at my sister’s place and eating with her.”
“That’s good then.” Lin Yanqing nodded.
Lin Yanqing went downstairs and made a quick bite to eat. Only after the fresh vegetables were delivered did she start to plan what to cook for dinner.
Wen Yu was curled up on the sofa. “I want beef.”
“How about braised beef brisket?”
“Okay.”
After dinner, Lin Yanqing changed into her sportswear. Wen Yu looked up from her phone and asked, “Where are you going?”
“Running.”
“It’s so hot outside,” Wen Yu frowned. “Can your body handle it?”
“It’s fine at night. It’s cool,” Lin Yanqing stretched her legs. “I never had time to exercise much before. Now I do.”
“Do you think you’re on vacation? You’re acting up right after being released from confinement. You’re not allowed to go,” Wen Yu vetoed.
“But boss…” Lin Yanqing stopped meaningfully. “It seems I didn’t satisfy you this afternoon. My professional skills still need to be improved.”
Wen Yu: “…”
She wanted to throw a pillow at her, but Lin Yanqing was too far away.
“Be back in half an hour,” Wen Yu decided to let her go, so this a-list star wouldn’t say anything more outlandish.
“Okay.”
These past few days were spent eating, sleeping, arguing, and exercising.
Lin was indeed dedicated and had a good plan. Her physical fitness had recovered a lot, and Wen Yu’s experience had improved as well.
During a session of anaerobic exercise, Lin Yanqing leaned her back against a long bench and patted her hips. “Get on.”
Wen Yu, hugging a pillow, sat on Lin Yanqing with her legs bent.
“Instead of using me to train your butt and legs, you should buy some heavy dumbbells,” Wen Yu said.
Lin Yanqing finished eight reps and said during the rest period, “You’re soft.”
Wen Yu hit Lin Yanqing with a pillow. That’s what this pillow was for. Lin Yanqing had gotten used to being hit with it these past few days.
“Don’t exercise tomorrow. Let’s go out and have fun,” Wen Yu said.
Lin Yanqing was silent. After finishing another eight reps, she said, “I can’t buy high-speed train or plane tickets.”
“We’ll drive.”
“What if I’m called in for questioning?”
“You won’t be,” Wen Yu said. “They haven’t called you in these past few days, and it’s unlikely they will now. I asked my sister, and the direction of the investigation isn’t focused on you.”
“Alright,” Lin Yanqing said. “Three more sets.”
Wen Yu was bounced up and down, and her mouth didn’t stop. “Chen Yu’an’s new hot springs resort just opened in the next city. She’s inviting us to support her.”
The next city, also known as Northern City’s back garden, a rest area for the wealthy.
“Two more sets.”
“We’ll go tomorrow and come back the day after.”
“One more set.”
“You’re making me dizzy, Lin Yanqing.” Wen Yu stared at Lin Yanqing’s face, watching the sweat beads roll down. She then said, “My legs are numb.”
Lin Yanqing finished the last set and stayed still. After Wen Yu got off, she stood up. “Come over here. I’ll give you a massage.”
Wen Yu sat down as she was told. The moment Lin Yanqing started massaging her calf muscles, Wen Yu yelped in pain and cursed, “Assh0le! Are you getting revenge on me?!”
Lin Yanqing didn’t let go and just smiled. “It doesn’t hurt that much. You don’t have a lot of muscle.”
“Bullshit!”
“Are your legs still numb?”
“Even if they are, I don’t want you to massage them,” Wen Yu kicked her lightly. “Go take a shower.”
After they tidied up and got into bed, they went to sleep early. Lin tried to mess around, and Wen Yu pinched her neck. “If you move again, I’ll kill you.”
Lin Yanqing surrendered.
It was a peaceful night. With a verbal threat, Lin Yanqing dared not act rashly. No casualties were reported.
…
“IKEA Hot Springs?” Lin Yanqing read the sign at the entrance. “Do they sell furniture?”
“If you make another wise crack, I’ll leave you outside,” Wen Yu said.
“This is called a joke. Humor is a human specialty.”
“You, as a whole, are a big joke,” Wen Yu said.
Lin Yanqing: “Oh, is that so?”
Wen Yu suppressed her smile. “Talk less.”
They walked inside. Chen Yu’an, who had been notified of their arrival, came out smiling. “You’re here.”
Wen Yu: “Mhm.”
“Lin…” Chen Yu’an didn’t know how to address Lin Yanqing for a moment, so she skipped the name. “The room is ready for you two. Just go on in.”
Wen Yu: “Thanks.”
She led Lin Yanqing inside. Lin Yanqing nodded as she passed Chen Yu’an.
Chen Yu’an smiled back.
Her feelings toward Lin Yanqing were now very complicated.
Chen Yu’an used to be annoyed with her—for failing Wen Yu and being two-faced. But you could only curse at someone when they were doing well. Now that Lin Yanqing was down and out, cursing her would seem like kicking a person while they were down.
Chen Yu’an sighed.
After all this time, she could tell that Wen Yu couldn’t bear to part with Lin Yanqing. In any case, the latter couldn’t cause any more trouble. Even if she had a “white moonlight,” without an economic foundation, she was done for.
Wen Yu wouldn’t be bullied by this person… probably.
Wen Yu, walking ahead, asked, “Do you have any herbal baths?”
“We have everything ready for you,” Chen Yu’an said. “They’re all top-of-the-line. Just relax and enjoy.”
Wen Yu was very satisfied.
Chen Yu’an: “Don’t soak for too long.”
Wen Yu: “I know.”
They walked through a long hallway. On both sides were a few large hot springs with smaller ones, all steaming hot. Many people were standing in the steam.
These people were all there to show their support for Chen Yu’an.
Many people’s eyes fell on them.
They all knew Lin Yanqing and what had happened to her. Their gazes were complex, some with kindness and some with malice.
Wen Yu wasn’t afraid of them looking. She was afraid of them not looking.
She took Lin Yanqing’s hand, lacing their fingers together.
The focus of the crowd’s gaze suddenly became very obvious.
Some of them were people from the previous party who knew Wen Yu’s identity. They all began to whisper and exchange information, coming to a conclusion: Although Lin Yanqing and the second Miss Wen were divorced, they were still connected.
It wouldn’t be long before everyone in their circle knew that Wen Yu liked to go back to her old ways, and that even though Lin Yanqing was down and out, she still had someone protecting her.
Lin Yanqing whispered, “You brought me here on purpose.”
Wen Yu: “Mhm.”
That was exactly Wen Yu’s purpose.
No matter what Lin Yanqing’s status was, she was still Wen Yu’s person. She couldn’t let some blind people bully her.
Lin Yanqing smiled. “Boss, that’s very thoughtful of you.”
“Then why don’t you get down and thank me properly.”
“I’ll thank you in the room. I’ll thank you until you’re satisfied, boss.”
Wen Yu was amused. “Crazy.”
After two turns, they arrived at their room. Wen Yu pulled the door open, and someone from the next room came out. Their eyes met.
Wen Yu raised an eyebrow. “Well, hello.”
Shi Li was wrapped in a bathrobe. “What a coincidence.”
Wen Yu: “You’re here too.”
Shi Li nodded. “I have to support my golden friend, don’t I?”
She looked at Lin Yanqing. “How have you been, CEO Lin?”
Lin Yanqing: “Very well.”
“I can see that. You look so healthy. CEO Wen must be taking good care of you.”
Lin Yanqing: “What can I say? I have a virtuous wife at home.”
Wen Yu: “…”
Shi Li laughed out loud. “Aren’t you two divorced?”
“An ex-wife is still a wife,” Lin Yanqing said.
These words had just come from Wen Yu’s mouth not long ago. For a moment, she wondered if the two of them had assimilated in some way. A shiver went down her spine, and she quickly went into the room. “You two chat. I’m going to change.”
Shi Li stopped smiling. Seeing that no one was around, she asked, “Did you really lose everything?”
Lin Yanqing hummed.
Shi Li raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing her. “Really?”
She had a lot of dealings with Lin Yanqing in the business world. This person shouldn’t have been so easily defeated.
Lin Yanqing said calmly, “What’s real and what’s fake?”
Shi Li: “Is there no chance of a comeback?”
Lin Yanqing didn’t say anything.
“Then there is,” Shi Li said with certainty.
“The power isn’t in my hands,” Lin Yanqing said. “I’m just waiting for a notification.”
Shi Li didn’t listen to her explanation, thinking of something interesting. “You’re not telling Wen Yu because you’re enjoying this, aren’t you? You’re a complete tsundere.”
Lin Yanqing: “I’ve really fallen on hard times if you dare to talk to me like this.”
“You can’t do anything to me now anyway,” Shi Li flipped her hair. “Luckily, I cut ties with Zero One quickly. Otherwise, I would have been dragged down by you. I haven’t even cursed at you yet.”
“I hinted at it to you last time in Hengdian, to get more from Zero One.”
Shi Li was stunned. “Did you know back then that you would be in this situation now?”
Lin Yanqing was noncommittal.
Shi Li understood. “Then the chance of a comeback is very high, CEO Lin.”
“It seems you won’t be able to enjoy living for free for long,” Shi Li smiled. “You’ll be too high and mighty for people to approach again.”
“You couldn’t approach me before either.”
“Lin Yanqing, I’m being nice to you,” Shi Li feigned anger.
They both burst out laughing.
After laughing, Shi Li said, “When this is over, are you two going to remarry?”
Lin Yanqing said with certainty, “Mhm.”
“Then you should find a chance to tell Wen Yu. She’s really worried about you. Little CEO Chen said that the few days you were in there, Wen Yu was with her sister waiting for news. She didn’t eat well or sleep well.”
Lin Yanqing was taken aback.
“If she’s not the first one to know your detailed plan, she’s going to be furious with you,” Shi Li emphasized.
Lin Yanqing was touched. She hadn’t expected Wen Yu to be waiting for news about her. She said, “…I’ll find a time. Now is not the right time.”
“I’m just giving you a friendly reminder. It’s not my wife who’s gone, anyway,” Shi Li shrugged. “Free from love, free from worry.”
Lin Yanqing scoffed. “Then who did you dye your pink hair for?”
Shi Li choked. “Don’t expose my secrets.”
“Did your ex-wife force you to?”
Shi Li: “…Lin Yanqing!”
Lin Yanqing: “Oh, not ex-wife. She dumped you the night before you were supposed to get your marriage license.”
Shi Li: “…”
She turned and started walking toward Wen Yu’s room. “I’m going to tell Wen Yu right now that you’re lying to her, that you’re playing the victim to get her sympathy.”
Before Lin Yanqing could symbolically stop her, Wen Yu suddenly pushed the door open, her brows slightly furrowed. “Lying about what?”
She looked at Lin Yanqing. “What did you lie to me about, Lin Yanqing?”
