How About A Divorce? - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Wen Wen
Wen Yu was unhappy. “Am I looking at a person?”
Her words were sharp and sarcastic, making the people behind her fall silent.
Who was this big shot who dared to disrespect the authority?
Lin Yanqing smiled. “Yes, yes, only you are a person.”
She placed the back of her hand on Wen Yu’s forehead. “How did you get here? It’s so hot outside.”
Wen Yu didn’t say that she had snuck over and had been in the sun for a long time. She just snorted.
There were too many people, and Lin Yanqing was busy. She didn’t have time to ask for details. She looked at Zhang Cheng and instructed, “Take good care of Wen Wen.”
The way she was addressed made Wen Yu pause.
Over the years, Lin Yanqing rarely called her by her name. She would call her “Wen Wen” in front of their parents. Most of the time, they didn’t address each other by name.
This form of address was too intimate, which was not good.
In fact, when they first met, their relationship wasn’t tense. In the second year of high school, when classes were divided into liberal arts and sciences, Wen Yu and Lin Yanqing were placed in the advanced science class and became desk mates.
Lin Yanqing was younger than her age, but Wen Yu had started school early. Although they were in the same grade, they were two years apart.
Lin Yanqing was a woman of few words. She didn’t seem to care for anyone. She was always a lone wolf, exuding a sense of distance that was out of place for a high schooler.
This kind of personality was very attractive to most high school girls, including Wen Yu.
Wen Yu had a good personality and was generous. On the first day of school, she had already become friends with half the class, except for this serious-looking desk mate.
After she had her fun with her other friends, she came back to her seat, lay down on her desk, and stared at Lin Yanqing.
The latter was doing practice problems. Her fair fingertips rested on the answer sheet. Her expression was indifferent.
“Lin Yanqing,” Wen Yu called her.
Lin Yanqing’s pen tip stopped. She turned her head and looked at her.
Wen Yu smiled with her eyes narrowed and pushed a piece of milk candy toward her with two fingers.
The pink-wrapped candy slowly rolled over the line that divided their desks and stopped next to the tip of a gel pen.
“This is for you.”
Lin Yanqing looked at the candy, then at Wen Yu. “I don’t like sweets.”
Wen Yu’s smile froze, and her face fell.
Lin Yanqing saw her expression. Her face tightened. She put down her pen and took the candy. “Thank you.”
“Tsk.” Wen Yu pouted. “If you don’t want to eat it, then don’t.”
With that, she reached out and snatched the candy back from Lin Yanqing’s palm.
Lin Yanqing cupped her hand and didn’t react. She picked up her pen and continued to do the problems.
She hadn’t even finished reading a line of the problem when Lin Yanqing felt someone pull her sleeve. She turned her head, and Wen Yu, who knows where she got it from, took out another biscuit. The bright green wrapper had the words “green onion” on it.
“This isn’t sweet,” Wen Yu handed it over. “I don’t like salty stuff anyway, so it’s for you.”
At this time, Lin Yanqing hadn’t yet honed her poisonous tongue to perfection. She was still a bit naive and didn’t say anything unlikable. She even had a little bit of a conscience. “If you have any problems you don’t know how to do in the future, you can ask me.”
Wen Yu was stunned. She couldn’t figure out why Lin Yanqing would say something so random.
“A fair exchange,” Lin Yanqing explained.
Wen Yu immediately burst out laughing. “What? It’s just a biscuit. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think it was a red envelope.”
She put her foot on the bar under the desk, and with a stretch of her leg, the chair tilted backward.
Lin Yanqing subconsciously held onto the back of her chair.
Wen Yu was still laughing. “My desk mate, you really understand a fair exchange. You want to teach me in exchange for a biscuit? Isn’t that tutoring fee a little too cheap?”
Lin Yanqing silently held the chair for her, afraid that her new desk mate would accidentally fall and kill herself.
Wen Yu pulled her legs back and sat up straight. She waved her hand casually. “It’s just for you to eat. I don’t expect you to pay me back in the future.”
Lin Yanqing nodded. “I didn’t expect you to actually ask me to teach you.”
Wen Yu was stunned. “?”
This was the first time she had witnessed Lin Yanqing’s bad sense of humor. After she understood, she was hit with a dry humor. She half-smiled, folded her arms, and stared at Lin Yanqing. “My desk mate, you’re so bad.”
Lin Yanqing: “Thank you.”
Wen Yu laughed out loud. She couldn’t help but reach out and rest her hand on Lin Yanqing, pointing at her. “You have so many tricks up your sleeve.”
After Wen Yu had enough of laughing, she suddenly asked, “So can I really ask you to teach me?”
This was a walking cheat sheet. It was a golden opportunity, so it would be a waste not to use it.
A slight smile appeared on Lin Yanqing’s face. “You can ask.”
“Then I’ll give you another bag of biscuits.”
“No need. I don’t like salty food either.”
“Wow, you’re so amazing.”
Lin Yanqing’s smile deepened. “Thank you.”
After this, Lin Yanqing didn’t seem as unapproachable. Wen Yu would also occasionally bring a problem to ask for help. Their monetary exchange was very rich and colorful. Various small snacks were brought out. Lin Yanqing didn’t like to eat them, so she would keep them for Wen Yu. Wen Yu knew this and would occasionally reach into her desk mate’s drawer and blindly feel for the snacks.
That was until Wen Yu’s mom strictly forbade her from eating all that junk food and even teamed up with Lin Yanqing to limit Wen Yu’s diet.
After understanding Wen Yu’s physical condition, Lin Yanqing was surprisingly very dedicated to her duty. She watched her closely. Wen Yu looked on, but pouting and acting all cute didn’t work.
If she said no eating, then no eating.
Wen Yu was so angry that she ignored Lin Yanqing for an entire week. Then, without any integrity, she was coaxed back with a simple “Wen Wen” from Lin Yanqing.
At this moment, Wen Yu looked at her wife beside her. When she distantly heard the name “Wen Wen,” she felt a long-lost heartbeat.
But after twelve years, the feeling was no longer the same.
Lin Yanqing noticed Wen Yu’s gaze. Her clear eyes turned and met hers. “You go with Zhang Cheng first. I’ll come find you later.”
Wen Yu said dazedly, “Okay.”
Lin Yanqing pinched Wen Yu’s earlobe and left with a group of subordinates.
Wen Yu stood there, watching Lin Yanqing’s back.
They had known each other for twelve years. Lin Yanqing didn’t seem to have changed much. She was just more composed and reserved. After so many years of ups and downs in the business world, her eyes were as bright as ever when she looked at her.
But she couldn’t read the emotions in them anymore.
Wen Yu was attracted by those eyes and had the idea of becoming friends with her. She never thought she would marry this person.
And it was a disloyal marriage.
Thinking this, Wen Yu felt a little suffocated.
She said to Zhang Cheng, “Let’s go.”
Zhang Cheng took her to an empty event room. There was no one inside.
Zhang Cheng: “Young CEO Wen, I’ll wait here with you for CEO Lin.”
“No need. If you’re busy, go do your work.” Wen Yu no longer had the mind to run around and bust her. She had already been caught. Any smart person would make the mistress avoid her.
Just then, Zhang Cheng received a call. The person on the other end said a lot, basically that two creators had a feud. It was not handled well, and they were both threatening to make a video to expose the event organizer for not having a clear plan and for not checking the creators’ personal relationships.
Wen Yu was amused.
These creators couldn’t tell who was who. They even dared to offend their sponsors. They were really at the end of their rope.
“You go handle it. Come back and tell me the gossip when you’re done,” Wen Yu said.
Zhang Cheng nodded and left. He also had someone bring in some fruit and snacks.
This event room had a Republic of China theme. It was probably going to be open tomorrow. The lights in the room were not very bright. Cement poured railings surrounded a rickshaw. Next to it was a Ford. The car’s surface was shiny and gave off a cold glow.
It was a one-to-one replica of the car in the Jingnan Museum, looking very grand.
Wen Yu touched the car, then sat on the rickshaw. She took a few photos with her phone and was thinking about whether to film a top 100 vlog when the door was pushed open.
A group of people swarmed in.
The male cameraman in the lead said to the creator behind him, “This event room is empty.”
Wen Yu: “?”
Are you blind?
She rested her hand on the armrest and didn’t get off.
The male cameraman noticed Wen Yu, of course. There were a lot of them, so they didn’t pay much attention to one person.
He walked up to Wen Yu. His tone was polite, but his words weren’t. “We need to use this room to film a video. Can you please leave?”
Wen Yu frowned. “Isn’t there a ‘Do Not Enter’ sign on the door? Can’t you see it?”
The creator’s team on the side had already started setting up their equipment.
One of the girls said, “This stand is not stable. Can someone help?”
The male cameraman looked at Wen Yu. “You’re not leaving, huh? Are you a staff member? Then come here and lend a hand.”
Wen Yu: “?”
The last person who dared to tell Wen Yu to do work was Wen Yinghuan. Not even Lin Yanqing dared to boss Wen Yu around.
Seeing Wen Yu’s expression, the male cameraman thought he had said the wrong thing. “Not a staff member? Are you a creator?”
He looked at her carefully. “I haven’t seen you before.”
Before Wen Yu could say anything, the well-known creator behind him saw that the male cameraman was being slow and walked over. She glanced at Wen Yu. “You’re not a creator, are you? Are you with another creator’s team?”
Wen Yu was stunned when she saw this creator.
She knew this person.
@AA_LittleFish_DoesNotEat_Fish. Her videos were about randomly finding handsome men to take couple photos with. There was a big controversy about her a while ago. Wen Yu didn’t know if the controversy was real or not, since it could all be scripted. She just happened to know the person who started the Little Fish’s account—Zhang Ci, a high school classmate of Wen Yu’s. After graduating, she started her own business. She found Little Fish and built up her account. After her numbers went up, Little Fish dumped her and went solo, and it ended on bad terms.
So it was this ingrate, Wen Yu thought.
Too lazy to waste her breath, Wen Yu took out her phone, intending to call Zhang Cheng. She didn’t expect the male cameraman to instinctively slap Wen Yu’s phone out of her hand.
“Sorry, it’s not convenient for us to have someone filming here, okay?”
The phone fell to the ground with a thud. Before Wen Yu could react, someone picked up her phone and confiscated it. The male cameraman said, “We’ll give it back to you after we finish filming. Sorry about that, okay?”
Sorry my ass.
Wen Yu had never seen such a hooligan-like attitude, nor did she feel their apology. She laughed out of anger. “Are you looking for a fight?”
Little Fish frowned. “How are you talking?”
Wen Yu started to walk out and was grabbed by the arm by the business partner Little Fish brought.
Business partner: “Which team are you with? I’m just asking because I’m worried about some private things leaking out. So I need to negotiate with your boss.”
Wen Yu shook him off. “Mediocre creators cause the most trouble. Posting your videos would just lower my numbers.”
Little Fish frowned. Probably no one dared to tell her to her face that her video numbers were not good. She was both angry and embarrassed. She blocked Wen Yu’s way, putting on a brave face. “Who is your boss? Being so arrogant will only bring bad publicity to your account!”
Wen Yu didn’t answer. She pushed Little Fish away, opened the door, and walked out.
A real woman doesn’t get into verbal fights, but a real woman can rely on her wife. The truth was, Wen Yu didn’t have any shares in Zero One, so she couldn’t interfere.
Wen Yu was going to go tattle to Lin Yanqing. What kind of people did they invite to this event? These people should be packed up and sent to a class on “speaking like a human.”
As soon as she opened the door, Wen Yu walked out aggressively. She had barely taken two steps when she almost ran into a woman.
The woman had pink hair and was dressed casually. When she saw Wen Yu’s face, her surprise seemed genuine. “Young CEO Wen?”
Little Fish’s team chased her out. When they saw the pink-haired woman, they all stopped at the door. It was clear they knew who she was.
Not only did they know her, they were practically fawning over her.
The male cameraman was in disbelief. “Teacher Shi?!”
He then looked at Wen Yu, thinking to himself, why would Teacher Shi call this woman Young CEO Wen? What kind of person would Teacher Shi call CEO Wen?… Before his mind could catch up, he saw Shi Li look at them and raise an eyebrow.
“Young CEO Wen, why do you look so angry? Did they offend you?”
