How About A Divorce? - Chapter 44
Chapter 44: A Confusing Dream [VIP]
The livestream was blocked.
With a setup as big as Wen Yu’s, the moderators had already noticed her. The moment they saw the direction of the livestream change, they immediately blocked her.
Wen Yu turned her head and saw that the livestream was shut down. She was speechless and looked at the culprit. “This is all your fault.”
Lin Yanqing showed no signs of admitting her mistake. “The moderators are too sensitive.”
“Weren’t you the one who set the moderation standards?” Wen Yu folded her arms.
This app was a Zero One product. Lin Yanqing wasn’t responsible for the program’s development or the rules for moderation, but Wen Yu still put the blame on her.
Lin Yanqing knew Wen Yu was just teasing her, so she went along with it. “I’m sorry.”
“You don’t sound sorry at all,” Wen Yu patted Lin Yanqing’s face. “Go look at your files. I’m going to restart the livestream.”
Just as Wen Yu was about to do it, her phone rang. It was Wen Rong.
Wen Rong’s voice was emotionless. “My dear young lady, what kind of nonsense are you getting into?”
“Hmm?”
“You’re trending,” Wen Rong paused. “Chen Yu’an told me.”
Wen Yu went online and saw that, thanks to Yuan Yiyang, her ID and Yuan Yiyang’s were side by side on the top trending list.
“Sister, I’m famous,” Wen Yu happily took a screenshot as a memento.
“I think you’re going to be famous for your funeral,” Wen Rong said calmly. “You’re just causing me trouble.”
“Can you help me deal with it?”
“This one time.”
“Okay, thank you, my dear sister,” Wen Yu sweetly hung up the phone.
The Wen family was a bit special. Although they had officially cut ties with Wen Yu’s father and had little to do with Wen Rong, they still had to be careful. Wen Yu couldn’t be too ostentatious.
“It looks like the livestream is not going to happen,” Lin Yanqing said.
“Then it won’t happen,” Wen Yu didn’t care. She went into her fan group, briefly explained the situation, and sent out a bunch of red envelopes.
When Wen Yu finished washing up, she found that Lin Yanqing wasn’t in the bedroom. She went downstairs and found her in the study.
Lin Yanqing was wearing blue-light glasses and was very focused on the screen. She didn’t even notice when Wen Yu came in.
Wen Yu didn’t want to disturb her, but she wanted her in her line of sight, so she just sat quietly on the sofa and started looking at her phone to pass the time.
She saw a book titled “Thirty-Six Stratagems of Love.” It sounded interesting.
She randomly clicked on a chapter, and the first sentence was, “Can there only be two people in love? No.”
Wen Yu immediately closed it.
What kind of twisted nonsense is that?
Lin Yanqing started typing on her keyboard. The tapping sound was extremely hypnotic. Wen Yu didn’t want to fall asleep, so she stood up, stretched her waist, and randomly grabbed a book from the bookshelf.
It was another one related to economics.
Even more hypnotic.
Wen Yu put the book back, but it wasn’t a tight fit. The spine of the book was sticking out by half a finger.
The sound of the bookshelf made Lin Yanqing look up. She finally realized there was someone else in the study and was slightly surprised. “When did you come in?”
“When you were staring affectionately at your computer,” Wen Yu walked over, looked at the screen a few times, and yawned.
Lin Yanqing chuckled. “If you’re tired, go back to sleep.”
“Let’s go together.”
“I’ll stay for a little longer,” Lin Yanqing adjusted her glasses and looked back at the screen.
“Then I’ll stay with you.”
Lin Yanqing’s fingers didn’t stop. She was deleting and changing things. In between paragraphs, the corners of her mouth turned up. “You’re so clingy.”
Her words were suggestive, but her eyes didn’t move. Wen Yu could feel her perfunctoriness.
Wen Yu looked at the screen and saw that the line of text started with “three million” and ended with “three hundred million.” She was stunned.
“That much?”
“This is an estimate of Chen Liangsheng’s overseas assets. Someone else will verify it. I’m just providing the idea,” Lin Yanqing said calmly.
Wen Yu moved a chair over and sat on it, resting her legs on Lin Yanqing’s thigh. Lin Yanqing reached over and grabbed a blanket to cover her legs.
“You can continue working. I’ll just play on my phone,” Wen Yu said.
Lin Yanqing squeezed Wen Yu’s legs.
The study became quiet. The only sound was Lin Yanqing’s keyboard tapping. Wen Yu leaned the chair back and held on for a while, but she couldn’t resist the power of the white noise. She didn’t even know when she fell asleep.
When she woke up again, she was still lying on the chair. Lin Yanqing was still looking at the computer, but the screen wasn’t a contract or a list of terms. It was a chat window.
Wen Yu squinted, and the content became clear.
The person on the other side sent: “I’m back”
Wen Yu was stunned. Lin Yanqing’s expression was hidden by her hair, so she couldn’t see it. The surrounding light was dim, and Wen Yu felt a sudden panic.
Lin Yanqing’s hand rested on the keyboard, and she typed: Mhm.
The person then said:
“I know you’re divorced. I came to find you.”
“Lin Yanqing, do you still love me?”
“I’ve received all the things you’ve sent me over the years. I love them.”
“Why haven’t you been in contact with me lately? Do you really not want me anymore?”
Lin Yanqing’s finger hovered over the keyboard for a moment and then slowly typed:
“I’ve been waiting for you.”
Wen Yu’s whole body stiffened. A huge sense of grievance spread through her heart. She wanted to call out to Lin Yanqing, to grab her hand and question her, but she was unwilling to put herself in the position of a victim. It was too embarrassing, so the collapse was sealed in her throat, turning into tears.
Through her blurry vision, she saw Lin Yanqing turn around and say to her, “I’m sorry, Wen Yu.”
“I’m sorry, Wen Yu.”
“I’m sorry…”
“Wen Yu…”
“Wen Wen…”
“Wen Wen, Wen Wen?”
Her face felt a little itchy.
Wen Yu suddenly opened her eyes. Her eyelids were stinging. A nightlight was on the desk. Lin Yanqing was standing in front of her, leaning over, and frowning slightly. “Did you have a nightmare?”
The screen was still on. White words floated on a black background, blurring with the movement of her eyes.
Tears fell again.
She saw it clearly. It was a contract.
“Why are you crying?” Lin Yanqing wiped away her tears with her thumb, her voice lowered. “What did you dream about? You scared my Wen Wen so much.”
“Lin Yanqing,” Wen Yu said with a hoarse voice.
“Mhm? I’m here.”
“Lin Yanqing…” Wen Yu called her again.
“Mhm, I’m here.”
“Lin Yanqing, Lin Yanqing.” Like a broken record, Wen Yu couldn’t say any other words. It was as if these three words were all she had to say, and her tears were the punctuation.
Lin Yanqing adjusted the chair, held Wen Yu’s shoulders and back, and hugged her.
“Hug me… hold me tighter,” Lin Yanqing patted Wen Yu’s back.
Wen Yu held her tightly and smelled a familiar scent. The broken record was fixed.
“Lin Yanqing, are you going to leave me?”
“…I’m a little scared.”
“Everything you told me before was true, right?”
Lin Yanqing didn’t answer right away. She let go of Wen Yu and moved back a little.
Wen Yu immediately panicked and wrapped her limbs around Lin Yanqing, like a cat in mid-air desperately needing something to hold on to.
Lin Yanqing held Wen Yu’s wrist with one hand and took off her glasses with the other.
The glasses were placed on the table with a click, and Wen Yu’s nerves jumped. Her eyes darted around with Lin Yanqing’s movements.
A kiss suddenly landed on her forehead.
All of Wen Yu’s movements stopped.
Lin Yanqing kissed her gently, from her forehead to her eyelids, tasting the saltiness. She then kissed the corners of her lips, slowly comforting her. Each kiss was a gentle and firm command.
“Don’t be scared.”
“Don’t cry.”
“Please trust me.”
Wen Yu’s tense body slowly relaxed. When Lin Yanqing held the back of her head, she fell limply onto Lin Yanqing’s shoulder.
Lin Yanqing: “It was just a nightmare.”
Wen Yu’s nose tingled, and tears fell into Lin Yanqing’s hair. Her voice was muffled. “It felt so real.”
“It was still fake.”
Lin Yanqing coaxed her repeatedly. “Dreams are the opposite of reality. I won’t leave you.”
“Swear it.”
“I swear,” Lin Yanqing said. “If I leave first, may I be poor for the rest of my life.”
How ruthless.
Wen Yu was amused.
Lin Yanqing heard her laugh and held her face. “You’re smiling. It’s beautiful.”
Wen Yu pouted. “You’re terrible at coaxing people.”
“It works, though,” Lin Yanqing said.
“It doesn’t,” Wen Yu said. “You have to do it more.”
Lin Yanqing kissed Wen Yu. “Is that enough?”
“No.”
She kissed her again.
“Still not enough.”
She kissed her again.
“That’s so perfunctory, Lin Yanqing.”
As soon as Wen Yu finished speaking, Lin Yanqing held her face, their lips pressed together and slowly ground against each other.
Lin Yanqing tasted the saltiness in Wen Yu’s mouth, and her movements became more gentle. She held Wen Yu’s waist, pulling her closer.
It wasn’t a passionate kiss, but Wen Yu was inexplicably out of breath. She instinctively tried to pull away, but Lin Yanqing held the back of her head, so she couldn’t move.
I’m suffocating.
I’m going to die.
When the kiss ended, Wen Yu had long forgotten about the nightmare. She was hanging on Lin Yanqing, looking dazed as if she had been ravaged. Only her lips were a vibrant red.
Lin Yanqing pressed on the corners of Wen Yu’s mouth. “Is it still perfunctory?”
Wen Yu shuddered and suddenly said, “If you had treated me like this in high school, we wouldn’t have just started dating when we’re almost thirty.”
“Hmm?” Lin Yanqing’s expression changed. “Really?”
“Of course,” Wen Yu said. “The kissing felt great. I was really into it.”
Lin Yanqing: “…”
The conversation had shifted from a sweet romance to a kissing skills competition.
Lin Yanqing forced the atmosphere back. “Wen Yu, why were you crying so hard just now?”
“Huh? I had a nightmare,” Wen Yu said casually, her expression still savoring the kiss.
“The thought of me leaving you made you cry that hard?” Lin Yanqing’s words cut off Wen Yu’s reverie. “Wen Yu, you can’t be without me?”
Wen Yu lifted her eyelids. “What are you so proud of?”
Lin Yanqing couldn’t hide her smile. “I’m not proud.”
“What are you thinking about?” Wen Yu pressed down on the corners of Lin Yanqing’s mouth.
Lin Yanqing spoke with her mouth “sealed” by Wen Yu. “I’m thinking…”
Wen Yu released her fingers.
“I’m thinking,” Lin Yanqing stared at her. “Why didn’t I kiss you in high school?”
Wen Yu: “…”
That scumbag. She’s thinking about a high school love while kissing someone else.
Wen Yu suddenly got up. “Pfft!”
Lin Yanqing: “?”
Why did she get mad in the middle of our flirtatious talk?
“I’d rather kiss a dog than kiss you.”
Wen Yu walked out in a huff. Lin Yanqing stayed seated. When Wen Yu reached the door, she knew that if she didn’t coax her, the sky would fall. But just as she stood up, Wen Yu suddenly stopped.
Wen Yu turned around sharply. “You dog.”
Lin Yanqing raised an eyebrow and went along with it. “So, you’re giving the dog a kiss?”
“No.”
That’s what she said, but Wen Yu stayed by the door. Lin Yanqing closed her laptop, walked behind her, and leaned her head in for a kiss. “I got a kiss.”
The kiss was as light as a normal blip on a heart monitor.
Wen Yu’s face was tense.
Lin Yanqing rubbed against Wen Yu. “Let’s go back to bed.”
Wen Yu: “No.”
“If you don’t want to sleep, we can do something else.”
“No.”
“You said it felt great just now.”
“It didn’t.”
“Are you just making up words now?” Lin Yanqing was amused. “Let’s go to sleep.”
She picked her up and carried her to the room. Wen Yu was still being stubborn. “I hate you.”
“Are you trying to be cute?” Lin Yanqing perfectly interpreted her.
“Are you sick?”
“Swear at me again. I love it.”
“Pervert.”
After Wen Yu said that, she closed her mouth.
When they got to the room, Lin Yanqing went to wash up. Wen Yu burrowed into the blanket and took a deep breath.
Lin Yanqing was great at coaxing people, and Wen Yu was good at adjusting herself. The lingering feeling of the dream had long since dissipated. She felt very happy, but this happiness was always blocked by a Jade Gate Pass, unable to enter her heart.
Wen Yu let out a long sigh.
Lin Yanqing, Lin Yanqing, she said.
Her lips parted, muttering to herself, letting out half a syllable that didn’t form a word.
