How does it feel to step into a B-grade horror game? - 12
Episode 12.
Squash, squeak, squish.
Fidelis’ breath was stopped by a steady thud. Fidelis continued to glance around, his pupils fluttering nervously. Hakan gently grabbed her chin and whispered sweetly.
“It’s okay, Reese.”
He rubbed her lower lip as she bit her lip closely, tightening his grip on her.
“If you’re anxious, put your arms around my neck and close your eyes.”
Fidelis wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, without hesitation. Burying his face in his shoulders, Fidelis squeezed his eyes shut. Feeling a tickle in his body and mind again, Hakan involuntarily involuntarily twitched the corners of his mouth.
Squirt. Squirt.
The sound grew closer, and Fidelis’ arms tightened.
[… Yes… Diya?]
The cracking of the voice, like the combination of two voices, sounded eerily disgusting. Something surged out of the corner of the hallway. A face with black eyes and red eyes crawled on the floor. The mysterious monster, whose pupils were twitching back and forth, met Hakan’s eyes and laughed bitterly.
[Uh… There is… There you are… What?]
Tickle, just right, just right.
The laughing monster opened and closed its large mouth repeatedly, and the clattering of teeth could be heard. Behind the gently approaching monster was a long elongated figure that looked like a giant worm. Despite his disgusting appearance, Hakan’s nerves were all on Fidelis. As if searching for its prey, the monster slowly approached Hakan and Fidelis.
Squeak, squeak.
The sound was the sound of something strong colliding against the seams that seemed to be forcibly joined. A hulking monster filled the hallway, its face poking out in Hakan’s direction.
[Chew it, it’s prey.]
The monster opened its jaw wide enough to lose its jaw, and two arms came out from between its throats. Between his long arms stretched out, something unknown began to emerge, with no facial features, just teeth.
Tick, crack, snap.
Gnashing its teeth and crackling as it slowly emerged, another monster opened its hands to grab Hakan’s face, but his hands were suddenly cut off and he fell to the ground. The monster, its mouth wide open as if laughing, stared at the floor, its red eyes glazed over.
[Porridge… W…!]
“Who.”
He waved his hand horizontally, and a gust of wind blew from the monster’s face to its torso. A sharp breeze blew through his long body.
[…?]
The monster, unsure of what had happened, looked down at his horizontally split body and screamed.
[Kyaaaa
This time vertically.
It smashed into four pieces, blood splattering and slumping to the floor, flinching. The creature he had seen squeaked out of the gap, and Hakan clenched his fists and pretended to slam them down. Even though it was an untouched fist, the creature was crushed by something unseen.
[Kiik …….]
After slaying all the weak, limp monsters and strange creatures that emerged from the monster’s maw, they, too, crumbled to black ashes. Hakan smiled contentedly and didn’t bother to tell Fidelis about the situation. I wanted to feel her a little more, still clinging to my neck with her eyes tightly closed.
There was no word to open his eyes, even though he could not hear the horrible sound he had heard. Fidelis, who had been clinging to him with her eyes closed in silence, opened her eyes slightly to the feeling of walking down the hall.
“……?”
There was nothing.
“Did you do it?”
“Yes.”
As Fidelis walked away from me, Hakan squinted one eye in regret.
“… Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Reese is hugging me so tightly, so I feel calm.”
Fidelis closed his lips hesitantly, not knowing how to answer. It was the same for me that gave me a lot of mental stability.
“Reese’s hug helped me protect you for the first time.”
“… In fact, I think I was helped from the beginning.”
Scratching his cheek, Fidelis laughed awkwardly.
“You must have forgotten that it was Reese who dealt with all the monsters and ghosts that had come out so far.”
Thanks to you, I didn’t have to play an active role. Hakan muttered softly so he couldn’t hear Fidelis and smiled slightly. It may not have been intentional, but Fidelis looked cool for killing monsters and demons while being scared.
“That’s ……. coincidence”
“Maybe it was the first time, but I don’t think it was a scythe-wielding skeleton.”
He stroked her skinny cheek lightly.
“I’m giving you a compliment, so please feel good about it.”
“Yes… Thank you.”
“I’m better.”
He whispered low and pressed his lips to the back of her hand as if to brand it. Fidelis involuntarily tightened his grip. Hakan’s lips fell from the back of her hand, and he folded his eyes in a half-moon and smiled. His cheeks were slightly reddened, as if he had been reminded of them.
“Reese.”
The low-pitched voice was sexy. Fidelis pointed to a door and yelled.
“Hey, open that door!”
Hakan, who had been staring at her intently, raised the corners of his mouth. I obediently suited her as she tried to change the topic.
“Is that so?”
As she walked toward the door Fidelis had pointed, she opened it, and her face became contemplative. His body stiffened with tension.
“Reese?”
[Off… Aaa Turn off….]
A voice you can’t forget even if you want to forget. It was a monster that, like her, had caused a great deal of fear. A monster I met at the front door, dragging a corpse and a long knife and vomiting something.
“I, that’s dangerous… Buy, man….”
In my mind, I pictured the corpse with its body mutilated again. Fidelis hurriedly covered his mouth with his hand, trying to push away the surging earthenware. The monster that had been digging into its feet with its sword looked toward the slowly open door. He couldn’t tell who his unfocused eyes were pointing at.
The monster staggered to its feet. Thump, thump, thump, thump, as he began to walk slowly toward Fidelis. Hakan looked at Fidelis trembling and gently wiped away the tears in his reddened eyes.
“Close your eyes, Reese.”
Hakan’s low voice sounded sweet, and Fidelis squeezed her eyes shut. Tears streamed down her cheeks. Hakan slowly rubbed the clear tears down her cheeks as he looked at the monster in front of him. Hakan slid his hand at the well-approaching monster in front of him.
[Aa
One of the monster’s hands fell downward, and the monster let out a scream of agony. Hakan raised his hand, and the monster’s mouth snapped shut. At the same time, the opposite bridge also fell. The monster writhed in agony, unable to scream, only groaning.
The walls of Hakan shone brightly. It had a chill that would freeze anyone. He swept his head once, snapped his hand again, and left the room without a second thought. The moment he turned his back, the monster’s body exploded, then turned to ash and vanished. Hakan lovingly stroked Fidelis’ hair, which was still trembling.
“Reese, you can open your eyes.”
It was cute to see him open his eyes carefully, and Hakan tried hard not to smile.
“Lord, did you kill him?”
“Well, yes.”
“Hah… I’m glad I did….”
He would never face the monster again. Hakan, who had hesitated to answer, fearing that he would be scared if he told him he had killed him, breathed a sigh of relief as Fidelis leaned back comfortably. Hakan didn’t want to be reminded of his encounter with the monster, so he didn’t ask what had happened.
“But Hakan is really strong.”
I admired him all anew. He was not at all surprised by the appearance of ghosts, and he searched the dreary rooms with ease, and even killed them without hesitation.
“I’m not weak, but…”
“Isn’t it?”
Fidelis imitated his horse’s tail, and he was so cute that he couldn’t help it. I wanted to hug her tightly, bury my face in her shoulder, and kiss her cheek. But Hakan held back on all of that. Acting instinctively, he was no different from a beast.
Then he suddenly smiled deflated. Hakan was surprised that he could think such a thing, and he felt unfamiliar with himself. I had never had such thoughts or feelings for anyone.
I never thought anyone was cute, and I never laughed just looking at them. Moreover, the thought of looking at someone and wanting to kiss them was unthinkable to him. Hakan, however, had been struck by that urge dozens of times in his company with Fidelis. In his company with Fidelis, Hakan discovered new things about himself that he didn’t even know existed. Even though it was really unusual, Hakan didn’t hate it.
He pretended to be nonchalant.
“There’s a lot of mana here, so it’s not at full potential. I think it’s because it’s the devil’s domain…”
He smoothed his chin and grinned. He was serious, but he didn’t show any signs of concern.
“But that’s enough.”
“I don’t care if Hakan is weak.”
“Hmm?”
“Just being there for me is a lot of strength, so I don’t have to try to protect you.”
Hakan was thrilled by Fidelis’ words. Finally, he turned away from Fidelis’ gentle sparkling eyes and covered his face with his big hand, letting out a hot breath. Veins sprouted from the back of his large, white hand. It was evident how much patience he had. He was silent for a moment, and Fidelis watched silently, saying nothing.
Calmed down, Hakan let out a long breath and turned his face back toward Fidelis. He wore his usual gentle smile.
“Thank you, Reese. Just having Reese by my side gives me a lot of strength.”
Only pretty words came out of his mouth. It was the same this time. Fidelis laughed more in his short time with Hakan than he did when he was there.
* * *
Walking down the hallway, Hakan opened the door as usual. Reflexively closing her eyes, Fidelis was somewhat familiar with the situation. I crept open and saw the room I had seen with Russell. There are slippers and countless knives hanging precariously from the ceiling. Hakan looked at the shoes in the distance and muttered that he didn’t like them.
“It’s a shoe.”
It’s more like slippers than that. When he tried to put Fidelis down, she shook her head and clung to him.
“You don’t want to be separated from me like that, do you? I’m honored.”
With a mischievous grin, Hakan hugged her tightly, and Fidelis opened his mouth in embarrassment.
“That’s not it!”
Fidelis continued, winking at the knife in the ceiling.
“It’s dangerous. It’s better to walk around barefoot in there.”
“I’m not hurt, so if you stay here, I’ll bring it to you.”
