How does it feel to step into a B-grade horror game? - 14
Episode 14.
Again and again.
The constant sound of shoes echoed through the halls. She stepped closer to Hakan and stopped. Her long, white hair swept back behind her ears, her red lips pursed as she looked over Hakan’s shoulder at Dino, covered in blood and screaming.
“It’s ugly.”
It was an obvious sneer. When she turned her attention to Hakan again, she focused her eyes on something white peeking from his shoulder. When she realized that it was a thin white strand, her eyes instantly turned fierce. She roughly pulled the white hair from his shoulders and clenched her fists.
“What… Did you meet Fidelis? Do you know her? Why is this hair?”
She looked somewhat unstable and screamed. Gray hair is uncommon. And I was the only gray-haired person among those who came in as a volunteer. Moreover, Hakan and himself were not together. But the gray hair on his shoulders…
“Did you meet him? Do you know Fidelis?”
With a look of urgency and a look of urgency, she urged Hakan on. Fidelis was an outsider here. I didn’t come in because I applied, but I knew her…….
“Is there a relationship after all?”
She has the same white hair as Fidelis and looks like her. It continued to pique his curiosity, but Hakan didn’t ask. From the first time I saw her, I was intrigued by her resemblance to her, but she was subtly different, so I took her next to me. I wondered if there was one fun thing to do in my boring life.
But Hakan had involuntarily fallen in love with Fidelis in that short period of time. At one point, the sight of her white hair didn’t remind me of her in front of me, and I didn’t bother to ask Fidelis a question to find a connection.
Before he knew it, Hakan was staring at Fidelis. She was interested and went with her, but now Hakan doesn’t have Fidelis…
‘yes, I don’t. I’m still not there, and I feel like I’m going crazy.’
Hakan was getting wet with Fidelis before he knew it was wet. No, maybe it was love at first sight. I didn’t know who he liked, so the moment I realized my feelings, I couldn’t help but smile. At the same time, it became urgent. I felt like I was going crazy because I was afraid of this time that I was still standing still.
“Hakan Declan!”
Despite her desperate call, he was unwilling to open his mouth. He frowned at Fidelis’ growing distant.
“Isota Swald.”
He called to her with a chill. His tightly closed mouth opened, and Isota looked up at him with bated breath. He even looked desperate. Probably not looking for harm, but if it was, he should have killed him first. One break of that delicate neck will be enough.
“If you want to meet me, follow me.”
Isota, who was dazed by Hakan, who was walking quickly past Isota, gently grabbed his dress and followed him. Isota’s eyes filled with tears.
* * *
Fidelis opened his eyes as the feeling of being swallowed by something faded. In the middle of the vast space, Fidelis sat alone. The walls and ceiling were filled with beautiful paintings that looked like they had been painted by an artist, but there was an eerie atmosphere in them. Fidelis got up and looked around. There was nothing in the empty space.
“Ha, Hakan?”
She called his name carefully, but there was no answer. Fidelis’ body trembled as if he had been alone for the first time in a long time. Fidelis looked around with anxious eyes, gnashing his teeth at the thought of Dino he had encountered earlier.
He said he was a murderer. Instead of repenting of his sins, the man must have kept me away from Hakan because I looked weak.
Seeing as he didn’t follow you, was he caught by Hakan?
I wanted this to be ruined. The killer is not a person. It’s garbage that can’t even be recycled. If she ran away from Hakan and ran into her, she vowed never to forgive him.
The soles of my feet were cold against the floor. The warmth of Hakan was no longer there. Fidelis gritted his teeth and decided to endure it. I had no intention of living in protection forever. It was just that he was particularly vulnerable to scary.
Sasasak.
“…….”
Fidelis’ body stiffened as he tried to walk toward the door.
Sasak, Sasasak.
At the sound of another sound, Fidelis began to tremble, his cheeks white. She managed to move her trembling body and walked away, staring at the door as if she hadn’t heard anything.
Sasasak!
This time, something brushed his toes. Goosebumps ran through his body, and Fidelis paused for a moment, then moved again. And…….
[Why don’t you pretend you don’t know…….]
A faint, dreary voice rang straight into his ears.
[I, I’m here, I’m here……. I know, you know…]
His voice was faint, as if it were about to crumble. Even as it stammered, the sound of something moving kept coming in. Thanks to Hakan, his smug body quickly became wet with cold sweat. Sweat dripped down his spine. Clenched into fists and eyes squeezed shut, Fidelis kicked the ground and ran quickly toward the door.
“Huh, huh.”
The path from the great hall to the door felt like a long one. Then something struck Fidelis his ankle.
Wudang Tang!
Fidelis fell and curled up in pain. At the same time, something that had been talking to him appeared in front of Fidelis. The face of a dead corpse with two faces glued together, eyes full of blackness stared at Fidelis exactly. The torso was non-existent.
[Did you see me?]
The ghost chuckled, and Fidelis closed his eyes.
Keek, kiaaa
The ghost made a strange noise and circled around Fidelis, stopping in front of her again. She shuddered, and it spoke again.
[I’ve seen it, but I don’t know it again! Let’s kill it!]
[Porridge… Interest.]
The words that followed became repetitive, hurting Fidelis’ ears.
“Stop!”
The ghost’s voice was cut short by a throat-splitting scream.
“I know you’re there. So please stop!”
When I was with Hakan, I was relieved that there were still people, but now I was alone. In a fit of fear, Fidelis finally burst into tears. Wiping away her tears, she opened her eyes to the ghosts who were still staring at her in front of her. Holding back the scream, Fidelis gritted his teeth and sat up, the man who had fallen to his feet.
Even then, the ghost’s gaze had not taken away from Fidelis. Wiping away tears and whimpering, Fidelis spoke again.
[Who, who’s bothering you?]
“……?”
Fidelis, her eyes reddened, and she looked down at the ghost.
[Oooh, we’re sisters!]
[Hmm… Drooling ears… Throat because God was possessed… This is cut off and killed.]
Fidelis’ hand twitched. She blinked once, and her tears welled up in the nick of time.
[, bully, I’m bad, kill everyone, kill me.]
You’re bullying me!
I wanted to scream, but I held back. Besides the ghosts that passed through the floor, there was something else that could be communicated.
‘The ghosts are random. Is it because it’s a game system?’
There were killers and monsters, and there were ghosts. But this time, it’s a ghost with a story. I hadn’t actually played the game, so I didn’t know what it was, but from what my sister from the nursery school told me, I understood the situation.
His skills were also random, but he didn’t seem to be any different from a ghost. It seems to be an unpredictably wacky game, so there could be many different types of ghosts. After all, if the devil had created this space, he could have collected all sorts of miscellaneous things here.
“He said he was a mischievous demon, so maybe he is. It’s a weird game system.’
Fidelis looked down at the ghost who didn’t move and stared up at me, trying to make a conversation. Ignoring it and running away could only make him angrier. It was scary, but the stories they told me diminished my fear.
The thought of him as a wounded person who had been alive made me feel more sad than scared. Of course, Fidelis knew that he wasn’t in a position to feel sorry for anyone in his current situation, but he couldn’t help but feel like a human being. Fidelis involuntarily placed his hand on the heads of the two ghosts who were looking up at him and stroked them.
The ghosts flinched, but they didn’t flinch.
[What, what are you doing?]
“Oh, I’m sorry….”
She put her hand down. Creeping up, Fidelis spoke cautiously.
“Have you been living here all along?”
She asked, and after a moment of silence, they climbed into Fidelis’ lap and remained quiet.
‘Joe, I think it’s a little cute.’
It was a situation that anyone else would have been horrified to see if it wasn’t, but Fidelis learned a little bit about their past, and he felt more sympathy than fear. Fidelis was also different from others, and had been hurt a lot by being cruel to him, so he felt the same sympathy.
I didn’t know how they moved, with two faces glued together. When I heard the screeching, it sounded like I had a foot under my face, but that wasn’t the case. He was a little puzzled because he wasn’t walking with his face rolling around, but he quickly shook his head. I didn’t want to know. Feeling a chill, Fidelis brushed his arm slightly.
[Oh… Ni.]
[Hey, I’ve been here lately.]
… Recent?
“So where have you been?”
[Bar, outside….]
[Kill us… Hovering around them.]
Hovering around the slain meant that they had not been dead for some time.
“So, is everything that lives here randomly brought to you by the devil?”
Why bother?
The question lingered. Even if it was a game, it didn’t make sense if it lacked plausibility. I wanted to read the devil’s thoughts if I could, but I couldn’t.
No, it’s a game. Anything can happen in a game. As the complicated thought caught his tail, Fidelis shook his face from side to side as if to shake off the miscellaneous thoughts.
‘Stop thinking about it. The important thing is to break the curse and get out.’
The two faces on Fidelis’ lap rubbed their cheeks against her restless hands.
“……?”
It was like a pet, Fidelis smiled softly.
[Woo, laughs.]
“Well, there… Can you get out of here?”
[Oh, no.]
“Did you come in knowing you wouldn’t be able to leave?”
Fidelis asked, and they blinked slowly. It seemed like an affirmation, so she narrowed her brows.
