How does it feel to step into a B-grade horror game? - 24
Episode 24.
“It’s worth it.”
Beth interrupted. Zion pretended not to hear her voice.
“That magic tool is worth it!”
“…….”
It was a complete disregard. Meanwhile, Isota patted Shion on the shoulder, saying that he had done a good job. He covered his cheeks and was ashamed.
From a non-knowing point of view, the poor treatment of Beth would make him feel sorry for her. Fidelis did too, but he tried not to think of it as such, telling himself that there must be a reason for Isota’s actions.
Not only Isota, but neither Shion nor Hakan seemed to have good feelings for Beth. I didn’t want to feel sorry for Beth out of a little sympathy and then get slapped in the back of the head and cause embarrassment.
Most of all, those eyes were uneasy. He stared at me at every opportunity, avoiding Hakan and Isota’s eyes, as if he was about to do something.
An ominous warning sounded to him, but Fidelis shook his face as if to shake it off.
No matter what, it wouldn’t be a big deal, as Isota and Hakan seemed to be wary of her.
“Isn’t it really expensive…?”
At Fidelis’ cautious question, Isota smiled and kissed the back of her hand.
“It’s so cute to think it’s just expensive!”
“It’s expensive, but it’s also because of the mysterious power that resides within it.”
“Mystic powers?”
Loosening her hair affectionately behind her ears, Hakan slowly made eye contact with her. When Fidelis was fully focused on me, he spoke again.
“It’s the power to kill or save everything. Of course, in order to use it, you have to have someone to use it.”
Hart, a magician, also called it life and death because of its mysterious powers. It was rumored to have been created by a mage who had reached the realm of the gods, and some people said it was a gift from the gods to humans.
However, nothing has been clearly confirmed. So it was all the more mysterious and coveted.
“I don’t know how I got it, but the emperor offered it as a reward.”
“Uh, if you think about it, I guess there are fewer people than I thought…….”
If it was a magic tool with that kind of power, there would have been more and more people trying to get it somehow.
“That’s how much we’ve been inundated.”
“It’s a mansion cursed by the devil. The devil is as strong as the gods, and the exuberant enter and never come out. I came in because Isota came in, otherwise I never came in.”
Shion surveyed the eerie surroundings and shuddered once. Once he broke the curse and left, he wouldn’t even look at this kind of mansion.
“The mercenary king and the former owner of the Demon Tower also entered, but the curse was not lifted after a few years, and they couldn’t come out, so no matter how strong they were, no matter how much they wanted to get the reward. I have a stronger desire to live.”
“I could die right now, so what’s the point of compensation?”
He explained it as if he were telling someone else’s story.
“Why in such a dangerous place….”
“I’m here to get you back.”
“Like I said before, I’m going after Isota!”
“I’m here for a reward, but now I want something more than a reward.”
As he spoke, Hakan slipped a pod into Fidelis’ hand and touched it with a careful hand. Beth wasn’t even looking. She didn’t bother to say anything anymore to join the conversation.
Even if he looked at her openly and affectionately, and even if he carefully caressed her with his selfish hand, Fidelis didn’t notice any of Hakan’s feelings. I just assumed it was because he was too sweet. It was cute to see him not knowing anything, so Hakan decided to leave it alone for the time being.
The back story was to break the curse and then slowly unravel it. For now, I’m satisfied with that.
“But are you in such a hurry to break the curse?”
Simply lifting the curse is such a huge reward.
Fidelis didn’t understand. With that much power, he didn’t think the emperor would let him go. No, no one, not the emperor, would be able to hide his greed in the face of such a powerful power.
“It’s urgent. I don’t know about Reese, but the demonic power is affecting the people outside. This mansion is in the middle of the capital, which makes it even more dangerous.”
Certainly, the description of the game also said that the mansion was in the middle of the capital, and that the effects of the curse would gradually spread out.
The mansion of the dead was built in the middle of the capital simply to show off its wealth and honor. It was the envy of the commoners, and they enjoyed it.
After the horrific tragedy, most of the people who lived in the area moved away, but not very far. Hakan explained to Fidelis from another dimension and knew nothing, step by step, from the beginning.
“How are you affecting it?”
“He gets dirty and violent. Like a beast acting on instinct.”
[Hah, Hakan Che… Like?]
[Nothing… Stand up. Work… There are a lot of squares.]
“Hiccup!”
Edu and Essie’s words stunned Shion so much that he started hiccupping. Isota jerked her face away from the pursed lips. I didn’t know what I would hear if I laughed out loud. Beth had also turned her back so as not to offend Hakan as much as possible.
“Edu Esie, you’re so cute! The jokes are funny, too.”
Only Fidelis, who didn’t know Edu and Essie’s true intentions, looked cutely and laughed out loud. Hakan, whom he had seen since they first met, was a sweet and affectionate man, Fidelis remembered.
He was a little uneasy at first because he was a psychopath, but he didn’t show any signs of that until now. The traits of being a psychopath have disappeared.
Of course, I’d experienced Hakan exploding ghosts’ heads without hesitation before, but it was to protect me.
He tilted his face to look down at them coldly at Edu and Essie’s sudden thrust of words, and decided to forgive everything at the sound of Fidelis’ laughter.
“Yes.”
It was Zion who was rather relieved to see Hakan laughing and agreeing with Fidelis’ words. Brushing his chest in surprise, Shion stepped over to Edu and Essie’s side, squatted down, whispering a small warning.
“Well, if you say that, you’re going to blow your throat off Hakan.”
[This… Mi flies… Went… In the first place.]
“Hey, I don’t have it anymore, I don’t have it!
“… Oh, yes.”
Scratching the back of his head hesitantly, Shion stretched out his bent legs.
“I wonder if that’s the warning.”
Hakan mumbled grimly, fiddling with Fidelis’ ear. Sensing that he was speaking to me, Shion snuck behind Isota.
“I’m going to get rid of my mouth altogether. What do you think, Zion?”
He was smiling and saying sweetly, but Zion knew that his eyes were not. I’m glad I had Isota and Fidelis by my side to stop him, and I tried to calm my pounding heart.
“Whose mouth do you want to get rid of? Zion?”
“I don’t think so. It was just a joke. Shall we go?”
As he resumed his pause, Hakan didn’t forget to give Shion a look that had a small warning in mind.
* * *
Beth, who was walking a short distance from Fidelis and the others, naturally raised her face to look at the ceiling. Beth closed her eyes to the ceiling and smiled, then looked forward again and muttered softly.
“Are you still waiting?”
“I’m so vigilant, but if you can, do it.”
“Hmm.”
He could not make any attack on those who showed no chance. It would be nice to have something that could disturb you for a moment.
Even the strongest ghosts in the mansion had no way to defeat Hakan and Isota. He didn’t know why Pecua had made such an offer to him, but Beth had no reason to refuse her offer to help break the curse and receive the reward of Hart.
* * *
Fidelis, who had been keeping an eye on Beth as she was chasing from behind, wondered as she continued to stare at the ceiling. Fidelis stared at the ceiling as Beth looked at it for a while, but couldn’t find anything.
I thought he was muttering.
If it’s really related to the devil, I wonder if it’s okay to let him chase me like this. The words of the devil’s warning echoed through his mind.
‘I will do whatever I want, even if it means ruining an innocent man.’
It’s a headache to find clues and put the puzzle together, but you have to worry about the devil.
He sighed heavily, resting his chin on Hakan’s shoulder and lowering his head downward, making eye contact with Edu and Eshi. Taken aback, Fidelis almost screamed. Even if I was used to it, I couldn’t help but be surprised when it suddenly appeared in such a way.
Even though it was cute, it was essentially a terrifying-looking ghost with two necks clinging to it.
“Why, why?”
[This… Thing.]
[Poem, put on the shoe, stole it.]
Her hair swayed, clutching the white note.
“Was that hair moving…?”
Fidelis admired the two of them moving freely, and Edu and Essie looked up at her with a smug smile.
Edu and Essie found a note in Beth’s shoe while she was being beaten by Isota and used it in her hair to pull it out of the eye.
“Thank you!”
Fidelis smiled as he accepted the two notes. Beth didn’t seem to know if she had been robbed of her hint yet. Fidelis waved the note, and they walked at a distance from Beth and gathered toward her.
On each of the two notes, it read:
[The scythe must be soaked in human blood, the blood of the nobles who inhabited this mansion. (Required: More than 40% of the total blood loss must be flowing.)]
[The huge hall from which the light leaks out is visible but invisible.]
After reading the first note, Isota and Fidelis’ hands flinched. This was clearly a reference to the Sward family.
“When you say the manor’s bloodline, do you mean Isota-sama and Fidelis? That’s ridiculous!”
Shion was appalled. Fidelis barely resisted the urge to crumple the paper. The only two people who inherited the manor’s blood were him and Isota.
Dipping the scythe in the blood of the manor’s inhabitants meant that the curse would be lifted only if it was stained with Isota’s blood or Fidelis’ blood. Now I understand why those who have been in have died without being able to break the curse. There was no blood to lift the curse, and they couldn’t escape.
Now that he knew the most important way to break the curse, he didn’t have to look for another note. Now, if he knew the last location, he would be able to break the curse.
But breaking the curse was not easy. To break the curse, Fidelis or Isota would have to be slashed with a scythe.
