How does it feel to step into a B-grade horror game? - 4
Episode 4.
In order to leave this room, the ghost had to be dropped from the door. The moment the lantern went out, I felt as if a ghost was about to pounce on me, but luckily it never went out.
[… Wealth….]
Part?
The faint murmuring of a ghost’s voice made Fidelis tilt her head and look directly at the ghost.
[Boo… Fire, put it away. Fire, put it away. Fire! Away! Put the lights away! Put the lights away! Put the fire out!]
The ghost raised its face and began to cry out to Fidelis. His face was already melting, and his eyes were full of whites. His mouth was tattered with every shout, and there was no tongue inside. For a moment, Fidelis froze, his pupils trembling slightly, and then he tightened his stomach and let out a roar.
“Ugh, aaaaa Please forgive me! Whoops!”
Fidelis cried out to face him, begging for forgiveness and trembling. Put the fire out. Fidelis knew intuitively that he was going to be X the moment he turned off the lights. He tightened his grip on the lantern as if it were a lifeline, and gently thrust it against the ghost, and the ghost flinched back and began to scratch his arm.
[It’s hot! It’s hot! Put the fire away! It’s hot! Put the fire away! I’m going to burn you too! I’m going to kill you!]
“I don’t like it! Whoa! I don’t want to be burned!”
With tears streaming down her face, Fidelis continued to respond to the ghost’s words. Every time the ghost scratched his body, the flesh dripping down, and Fidelis couldn’t stand it and let out a small nausea. I didn’t eat anything, so all I could get out was saliva.
“Oooooo…….oo
Wiping his eyes and mouth roughly with his sleeve, Fidelis stretched out his grip on the lantern as much as he could and threatened the ghost. The ghost could not approach, but was busy crying and crying. The more cautiously she approached the door, the faint sound of footsteps in her ears. His pulse quickened and his whole body thumped.
“Qi, did you call a friend?”
[Aaa
“Why, why… I was wrong….”
I didn’t expect an answer. Crying, Fidelis ran in the opposite direction as soon as he reached the door. How many times do you have to run away like this? I wanted to let go. Tears obscured my eyes and I couldn’t see clearly.
After wiping his eyes with the sleeve of his robe, Fidelis clenched his teeth and ran and ran until his legs suddenly gave out and he fell to the ground.
“Ugh!”
His arms were swept against the floor, and his skin ached.
“My energy has been depleted and my health has dropped to 0%. You will not be able to take any action until your strength is restored. 」
Like a mechanical voice, Fidelis couldn’t lift a hand. At the same time, the blood canister that had disappeared after filling it to 100% reappeared. It said 0% above. Perhaps he had encountered a horrible ghost earlier and had exhausted his energy too much.
In the meantime, I was running at a tremendous speed, and it seemed that my energy was quickly depleted. Fidelis moved his face slightly, scanning his surroundings. In the open space he saw for the first time, Fidelis hurriedly rolled his eyes for a place to hide.
It was as if he was standing in a daze in the middle of the enemy’s lines. He saw the tall pillars, and Fidelis decided to hide in them. Unable to lift a hand, Fidelis waited for the slightest pain of blood to fill. He said that his strength would be restored even if he calmed down, but instead of being calmed down by lying alone on the cold floor, his heart pounded more with anxiety.
Alone in an open space, unable to lift a hand, Fidelis bit her lip and tried not to cry. There was no way to stop the tears from flowing in spite of the effort. With all his deafness on edge, Fidelis glared at the pike with tear-stained eyes.
The red was gradually rising. When the percent reached 10, Fidelis hurriedly hid behind a large pillar, swaying with a lantern and trembling legs.
“Huh, huh.”
Sweat dripped down his chin. Fidelis wiped the sweat from his chin and leaned his head against the pole to close his eyes. I breathed in and out, trying not to think about anything. Then….
[… I heard it.]
His eyes lit up. Fidelis shrunk and covered his mouth with his hand so hard that not even a breath could escape.
[I’m sure, I heard that… Here….]
The child’s voice cut off. That’s it, that’s it, it’s that. Was the sound of footsteps so creepy? Fidelis’ body was damp with sweat.
[There was a human.]
My heart skipped a beat. His heart began to pound hard, as if it were about to leak out. A child’s voice came in a straight line. It was close enough that if Fidelis bent even a little, the ghost would catch her in an instant. The glowing lantern had never been more resentful. The light that seemed to pierce the pillar made Fidelis roll his head, wondering what to do. In order to extinguish the fire, you have to open the glass of the lantern, but the sound will surely leak out.
[Where, where, where, where.]
There was the sound of repeated words and random running through the empty space. Fidelis took the commotion as a friend and hurriedly extinguished the lantern.
Ta-da-dak, ta-da-da-dak!
[Where, where are you? Where? Where? Where? Where?]
The child’s frantic pace suddenly stopped. I felt like my heart was going to stop with anxiety. Please, please, go. Go somewhere else. Who’s some…! No, it’s not.
“No one is going to save me.”
It’s going to be the same here. As his grip slipped away, he heard the sound of something breaking in the distance. A shrill plosive rumbled down the empty hallway and into the child’s ears.
“There it is, there it is! there it is!”
The child’s reaction was instantaneous, and he ran away from Fidelis at a frightening pace. By the time he couldn’t hear footsteps, Fidelis’ body collapsed.
“This crazy game….”
I couldn’t help but curse. Even though I didn’t want to cry, the tears kept flowing. But Fidelis got up. Staggeringly, he grabbed the pole once and hurried in the opposite direction from which the child came. His body was stiff with tension, so his stamina wasn’t that much.
Somewhere, the rest had to be filled. I was nervous about going into the room, and I felt like I would be caught if I hid roughly. I was lucky enough to escape, but I couldn’t expect that kind of fluke twice. I re-lit the string candle and put it in a lantern and held it forward.
“… Huh?”
I could see the stairs going down. It was a stark difference from the short staircase earlier. This time, it was clearly a downward passage. I was too frantic earlier, but the outside of the room where the burned ghost had come out was not that high. Is it about 3 floors high? This was an opportunity. Fidelis descended the stairs without hesitation.
There were clear blood stains on the stairs, as if someone had forcibly dragged them up. His hair was also tangled and hardened, so it was clear that he had lost quite a bit of blood. Fidelis moved to the side as far as he could, but the wall next to him was littered with bloody palm prints.
“Hick!”
The hand that held the lantern tightened. To avoid seeing as much as possible, Fidelis’ gaze was directed straight ahead. When he came down the stairs safely, Fidelis looked left and right with his lantern. Again, the long corridors were deserted and eerily quiet.
Fidelis stepped cautiously, trying to find the stairs leading back down. I felt like my strength was gradually regaining, and when I looked at the screen, I saw that my strength was more than half full. By the time he found the stairs leading down, he had fully recovered.
“Uhhhhh
As he was about to descend the stairs, he heard a child’s voice that stopped him. He turned his face and pointed the lantern in the direction of the child’s cry, but all he could see was darkness. Fidelis shook his head, hesitant to go. Maybe it was a ghost pretending to be a child like before. As I was going down the stairs at a brisk pace, my forehead was hit by an invisible membrane and I kicked my buttocks backwards. Fidelis rubbed his forehead and sobbed.
“Well, what is it? What’s wrong ……. that?”
Wasn’t he able to roam anywhere? But I’m sure I used the stairs to get down…
Fidelis fumbled with the invisible membrane. Unlike the stairs that had been going down well before, this time the path in front of it was blocked by a transparent membrane. He lowered his hand from fumbling against the transparent wall and stared anxiously behind him, a familiar voice in his ears.
“The event game has been launched. The theme is ‘Protection'”
“What? I’m not going to play an event game!”
He shouted in surprise, followed by another voice.
“You will not be able to go downstairs until you have cleared the event game. 」
“I’m going to turn down the quest!”
Fidelis’ desperate voice was not heard, and no voice followed.
Why are you doing that to me!
Fidelis picked up the lantern he had missed and stood up. I almost fell down a few times as I climbed the stairs with my legs shaking with fear coming out again, but I had to clear the event game or something. Only then did I have a chance to go down to the first floor and open the door.
I don’t want to do it, you bastards…
He spat out harsh words that came naturally to him as he climbed up the stairs and stuck his head out against the wall, looking left and right. The child’s cries that I had heard earlier were cut off like a lie.
Shredding, shredding.
Instead, there was an eerie chewing sound. Fidelis muttered in dismay.
“Help me…….”
Take care of me, who am I protecting with this state….
Thinking about the quest topic earlier, I sat down on the stairs and grunted with my head in my hands. I didn’t want to go out. The ghosts I saw after I started the game were all people who couldn’t speak. Fidelis choked, as if someone was strangling her with a leash. I couldn’t wait to go back.
Then…….
“Uhhhh Mommy!”
I heard the child’s cry again. Fidelis jumped up the stairs. I thought it was a ghost disguised as a child’s cry, so I ignored it, but for some reason, the theme of the event game got involved.
When I say “protect,” I think it means to protect someone in need.
Fidelis climbed the last flight of stairs without hesitation and made his way straight to where he could hear the child’s crying. No matter how frightening he was, Fidelis wasn’t cool enough to ignore a real child. I picked up my lantern and hurried to where I heard the voice, and I saw a child lying on the floor crying.
“Are you okay?”
Fidelis approached the child as carefully as she could, patting him on the head. He looked up and saw tears streaming down his large eyes.
“Who are you…….”
He’s a real kid.
Fidelis wiped away the child’s tears and was shocked. Clearly, this mansion is a cursed mansion, and I knew that people came in to break the curse of the mansion from the first floating screen, but why did a child…….
