How does it feel to step into a B-grade horror game? - 48
Episode 48.
‘Demons?’
Suddenly, she burst out of the ceiling and stood in Harold’s way to keep him from chasing after them, who were already far away.
“Huh? Can I help you?”
“Get out of the way.”
Vigilant, she brutally crushed him, and Pecua stepped aside with an exaggerated gesture. Harold, not taking his eyes off Pecua to see what was going on, was about to run past her and straight for Hakan.
“Don’t you want to be with Hakan?”
She stopped.
“Does Fidelis bother you?”
Harold didn’t look back. Pecua smiled in repentance. She reached behind her with a leisurely step, bent down, pressed her lips to Harold’s ear, and seduced her in a subtle tone.
“I can help you, that’s it. I’ll get rid of the annoying Fidelis and let you keep Hakan to yourself. What do you think?”
Harold was silent for a while. Pecua’s smile grew thicker as Harold covered his mouth with his palm.
“Put.”
But he couldn’t stop the sneer that escaped from between his lips and palms. Her sudden laugh caused Pecua to straighten his bent back and twitch his eyebrows.
“Haha. What do you say, really.”
After a few more giggles of dumbfoundedness, Harold spun around and stared straight at Pecua. It was clearly a mockery directed at me, which didn’t make Pecua feel good.
Harold tilted his head sharply, smoothing the corners of his mouth as they crept.
“Aren’t you looking down on me too much?”
“…….”
“What are you doing to help me?”
It was the opposite of what she had imagined, and Pecua’s brow was getting narrower and narrower.
“Whether it’s love or work, I’m on my own.”
yes, I’ll take care of myself. As it always has been.
Even if I failed in love, it was entirely up to me, and even if I wanted to quit because the work was hard and I was tired, it was entirely up to me. It was also his job to strive for it. Even if the results of his best efforts didn’t turn out well, Harold had no regrets along the way. That’s how much effort I put in.
It didn’t matter if he didn’t have Hakan. Fidelis was a seductive woman that even Harold would approve, and she was a lovely woman who caught my eye. Aside from the fact that he’s competing for one person, Harold wants to get to know her, too.
It seemed hopeless, but Harold was going to give up after doing his best. No one needed to intervene.
Harold’s rise to this position was the result of his own efforts.
“So, don’t drive a wedge between us.”
“Huh?”
“We’re going to win in the end.”
His last words were for Fidelis. Harold’s confident smile made the corners of Pecua’s mouth twitch. Harold’s disrespectful remarks made me feel uncomfortable. Suddenly, he burst out laughing.
“Well. Who will win in the end? I’m already looking forward to it.”
The board had already been set. Thinking about the last time, I felt like my dirty feelings were washed away.
“Even if you break the curse, your end will never be happiness.”
Pecua cursed before Harold could speak again.
Pecua’s last warning was overshadowed by an ominous aura. If you’re that confident, you’ve got something in store.
Harold turned around and hurried toward Fidelis. She was the only one who could judge this most soberly. Gnashing his teeth in anger after the loss of Fidelis, Hakan and Isota might have rushed to kill him in a fit of rage.
Even if you know that you can never kill a demon in this mansion. When she opened up about her relationship with the devil and her game, I thought of Fidelis’ unusually calm side.
“After all, he’s the only one who can stop Hakan and Isota-sama from going on a rampage.”
He wasn’t even bothered that he was gone. He couldn’t help but feel bitter at the thought of it, but Harold ran toward Fidelis.
Puzzled by Harold’s lack of pursuit, Chester called Hakan to his feet.
“Aren’t you chasing Miss Harold?”
“I’ve been chasing him. I can go by myself.”
Judging from the direction, it looked like they were heading towards Fidelis’ group. Maybe he had something to say, but Chester didn’t care. With a shrug, he ran with Hakan.
“You’ll be fine. But I thought you’d leave it to me, but you’re surprisingly quiet, aren’t you?”
“…….”
He only let out an annoyed sigh and didn’t even say a word, and Chester laughed mischievously.
The two were childhood friends, and Hakan would turn a blind eye to his rudeness to some extent. As a result, he was one of the few people who could deal with Hakan, whom everyone avoided.
As they went their separate ways with magic and alchemy, they met less often. Hakan didn’t meet him on purpose, but the two were still close.
Hakan didn’t want to admit it, but Chester didn’t care about that, and he knew Hakan very well. He smiled knowingly and began to raise Hakan with a smile.
“Why wouldn’t you go after Fidelis when you broke the rules and went your own way?”
“If you don’t want to shut up, get out.”
“I’m afraid Fidelis will say something.”
Chester, who had been giggling at his stomach, was finally struck in the head by Hakan and fell silent.
* * *
“Miss Fidelis!”
“Huh? Mr. Harold?”
Harold, who had rushed over, stopped at Fidelis’ feet and caught his breath heavily. He let out a long breath and looked at her and let it out clearly.
“I’ve met the devil.”
Isota’s momentum quickly became ferocious.
“Where?”
“It’s gone. What I want to say is…”
“Where?”
“Iso… No, sister.”
Shaking his head as if not to, Isota was forced to take a step back. Every time I called her sister, my heart became weaker, and the emotions that had intensified disappeared without realizing it.
“Keep talking.”
Listening to her story, Fidelis learned for the first time how she felt about Hakan. It was a bit of a surprise, but it was also cool how Harold dealt with it. He even gave Pecua a punch, and Fidelis complained to himself.
Rather, it was Harold’s side that noticed. As he spoke, he kept looking at Fidelis.
“I….”
“What?”
“Just because I like Hakan doesn’t mean I’m going to lose Miss Fidelis and Chuck. If you’re uncomfortable….”
“No, no.”
His eyes widened in surprise, and Fidelis waved his hand. I never thought of it that way. On the contrary, I really liked the way Harold handled it. I also knew that I couldn’t control my feelings.
Just because I liked the same person didn’t mean I hated her or anything like that. You might have thought it was the leeway of the have-nots, but Fidelis was really cool with her.
“If you like the same people, you mean that me and Harold both have a high eye for people. We like the same thing!”
Isota and Shion couldn’t agree with Fidelis, so they just turned their faces away. Harold’s crush on Hakan was generally cold, cold, untouchable, and insensitive. On the other hand, the Hakan that Fidelis had always seen was sweet, kind, always beautiful, smiling, and caring, unlike the rest of us.
Only Fidelis can see it. He’s the only one who still doesn’t know the inside and outside of Hakan.
If Hakan were to reveal his true self here, Fidelis would accept it, but Hakan secretly gnashed his teeth and didn’t know what he was going to do. So they responded to Fidelis’ words with silence.
“That’s right. Sweet Mr. Hakan…. Haha.”
Harold couldn’t help but feel awkward as he spoke, so he laughed awkwardly.
“So? Did Pecua just go that way?”
“Yes, I said the last curse word and then I just disappeared.”
His last words were a little jarring, but he wouldn’t be as easily swayed by Pecua’s tricks as he was last time. And one more thing: Pecua shows up to Harold instead of Chester, which means we don’t yet know what kind of deal was made between Fidelis and Chester. It was an unexpected harvest.
I was able to carry out the operation with peace of mind. What’s more, he can’t speak to Hakan and Isota, but this move will surely catch the devil off guard.
“That’s fine. I’ve been thinking about it too. Thank you for coming.”
Seeing her smile and sincere appreciation, Harold felt embarrassed. Even though he was just talking, it felt like he had done something great. But after experiencing Pecua’s gaze, she wondered if she could move on like this.
“You really don’t have to make any other plans, do you?”
“There’s nothing we can do right now.”
In the mansion, the power of the devil was absolute. Harold knew this, and he didn’t dare to dispute Fidelis’ statement.
He’d gone after the last warning, and he knew that Harold wasn’t going to give in to his tricks, so he wouldn’t have to appease her again. If so, they were more likely to remain silent for a while. Before that, it was a matter of finding a scythe, or confirming that the scythe he had was a tool to break the curse, and then finding the last place.
Ignorant of the demons, Fidelis and his companions were merely prey trapped in Pecua’s domain. There was no need to make a fuss. The devil seemed to prefer to take advantage of others rather than torment himself, and he was only interested in Fidelis.
As long as she doesn’t do something about it, the demon will stay quiet until the last place.
Of course, it was Fidelis’ earnest wish, but Pecua intended to be quiet with her wishes. Now that the end is really just around the corner, let’s wait patiently for the grand finale.
“Let’s go with this. It seems too far to go back.”
“Good.”
“Are you here to talk to Hakan and Chester?”
Zion asked, repicking where he had stopped, and Harold shook his head. In response, Isota tossed Fidelis’ hair around.
“They’re not even bothering anyway.”
It was true, and he had long since grown accustomed to Isota’s slap in the face, so Harold frowned mischievously.
“Isn’t that too blunt?”
“Once or twice?”
“It’s not.”
Looking at the two of them happily, they moved forward.
It had been a long time since he had been at ease, and Fidelis was startled by the eerie sound of the door opening with a sinister sound.
“Ouch!”
“What’s wrong, my brother!”
Isota shuddered, tugging her into his arms and wrapping her around her, squealing. There was a hint of mischief in his voice, and Fidelis’ cheeks reddened slightly.
“… It’s too much. You’re making fun of me.”
Fidelis mumbled softly as she struggled to break free from Isota’s arms, and she hugged her tighter.
“What if it’s so cute?”
The grief of losing Fidelis had long since faded. On the contrary, he was squirming more than before, and he was pouring out more affection than he could handle. Needless to say, of course, it would look much better than before.
