How does it feel to step into a B-grade horror game? - 56
Episode 56.
Ignored by someone who barely knew how to show his age, a deep shadow fell over Isota’s face. Isota stared at Eland in silence.
There were many things she wanted to refute one by one, but she didn’t break them. If he had told Eland, it wouldn’t work.
The most efficient way to make him feel it was to make him feel it. Everyone else knew, but Eland was a fool who didn’t know until he experienced it himself. Isota took a deep breath and spoke again.
“If I win, I’ll step down, in your name.”
Ignoring him, Eland snorted.
“Do you think you can beat me?”
“You don’t think you dare beat me.”
With an obvious sneer and sarcasm, Eland’s momentum intensified.
“That’s all I’m going to look at.”
“I’ve never asked to see it.”
If I hadn’t been so old, I would have blown it up before I could be so rude. Isota was putting up with quite a bit now.
“If you lose, give me a scythe. And that woman, too.”
“What?”
He smirked, pointing his thick finger at Fidelis. Even if she saved the scythe, she didn’t know how to break the curse.
But she knew something. Even if he didn’t know, it was enough to figure out how to break the curse by taking Fidelis hostage after he won.
“Isota.”
Hakan called out to her in a bloody manner. Hakan’s intense gaze drifted to the smirking Eland.
Eland’s body stiffened at the sight of the carnage. A wild beast that threatened to rip off the scruff of the target’s neck took a step. To break that neck and dig out the eyes of Fidelis at any moment.
“I’ll do it this time.”
However, Isota did not give Hakan a chance to vent his anger instead. This wasn’t something I could tolerate. Isota’s clenched fists trembled with rage.
The barely string of reason snapped. That was the end of my patience. Isota’s momentum was growing fiercely, as if he was about to pounce.
His anger was palpable, but Fidelis was worried. At first glance, the physical differences were not ordinary.
If Eland raised his hand and gave him a slight slap, Isota would fly helplessly against the wall. Restlessly, he grabbed Isota’s cuffs. Isota, glaring at Eland as if he was about to tear him apart, turned to Fidelis.
“Don’t worry, Reese. I’m never going to lose.”
She turned away from Fidelis to face Eland, smiling gracefully and added:
“I’m good at disposing of that crap.”
He looked so confident. Some people thought he had already won. Warming up, Isota walked toward Eland. Shion began to cheer hard from behind.
“Shion, don’t you have to tell me?”
“Yes! I’m going to win!”
In fact, he was more confident than Isota. He looked at Alvin, Harold, and Chester, wondering if he was the only one who was so anxious, but they didn’t do anything about it. Instead, Alvin was looking at Isota with a look of excitement on his face.
“… Am I weird?”
It felt strange to be worried. I believe in Isota. That she’d win. But apart from that, I was worried about getting hurt.
When asked sullenly, Hakan, who had been driven by murderous impulses towards Eland, quickly faded and denied her words.
“It’s more special than weird.”
Fidelis, who had been looking anxiously at Isota’s back, turned his face to look up at Hakan. He smiled deeply, kissed her lightly, and whispered softly.
“It’s special.”
Unable to speak, Fidelis hurriedly turned her face forward. He smiled contentedly and hugged Fidelis tighter in his arms.
Resting his chin on the top of Fidelis’ head, he turned his attention to Isota and Eland. Fidelis was so cute as she rustled in my arms that a smile appeared on her lips.
“Are you sure you’re going to do it?”
“Are you scared?”
Loosening his hands, Isota sneered. Eland’s face crumpled violently at that.
“No matter how young a girl is, they won’t look at you.”
“It’s the same. Even if I’m an old man, they won’t look at me.”
She was openly sniping. Eland drew his greatsword at her words. All of them were disrespectful. He was going to beat him up and fix his habits in no time.
He clenched his teeth and tightened his jaw. At the same time, a myriad of swords floated behind Isota’s back. They were swords created by magic.
Of course, it wasn’t a sword that actually existed. It was just a one-time sword made of magical power. Her magic was based on her ability to apply and her imagination.
The hand that held the sword tightened of its own. Unless you’re an idiot, Isota wasn’t normal just by looking at that huge amount of magic. It wasn’t something that could be dismissed as a “lump of magic.”
Needless to say, Eland had met countless people who were stronger than him. Isota was similarly intimidated.
Even at a young age. But Eland was by no means a weak man. Having lived in war zones and monster dens for many years, his experience could not be ignored.
Isota beckoned, and a myriad of swords hovered in the air, rushing toward Eland. He slid forward, clearing the sword from his lunges with a large sword.
Then, as he parried the flying sword, Eland disappeared in an instant. Isota looked behind him and uncovered his shield, but Eland didn’t care, swinging his sword around it.
The shield shattered, and the recoil knocked Isota backwards and slammed his back against the wall.
Without even the slightest groan, she immediately performed the next spell. This time, a large white snake lunged at Eland, its mouth open menacingly. As he rushed to attack, Isota issued a warning.
“Oh dear. You’d better avoid it, right?”
But he didn’t dodge and pounced. There was no way he would listen to Isota, who was younger than him. A big smile appeared on Isota’s lips as if he had expected it. Eland closed the snake’s gaping mouth, and Isota swung his hand wildly.
Then something began to spill out of the snake’s maw. He quickly dodged, but he frowned, unable to dodge all the white liquid that splattered in all directions.
“You’d better take off your clothes quickly.”
Before she could finish speaking, her clothes slowly began to melt.
“That’s poison.”
“Damn the worst!”
He roughly threw off his jacket. The snake didn’t miss the opportunity and pounced again. He hit the floor and climbed up, but he bowed his face in the heat of his chest.
The small amount of liquid that had splattered earlier was still there, slowly melting Eland’s chest. He quickly picked up the clothes that had been thrown on the floor and wiped his chest. In the meantime, Isota punched him in the face.
“Ugh!”
He stepped back, grabbing a tingling bite. The fight lasted quite a long time, as if it would never end. Dodging and attacking didn’t work either. After a brief glimpse of Isota, Eland was eventually forced to retract all of his assessments of her.
She was strong. Isota, who had to hide his power, was able to show his skills openly for the first time in a long time. It was a demonic space, so it was a bit of a stretch for him to perform at his full potential, but it didn’t matter, as Eland was still stuck.
In an attempt to settle the matter, Isota channeled the last of his magic and began to forge a sharp, long spear. In response, Eland tightened his grip on the sword and drew the sword qi together. He could feel the magic flowing through the long spear.
The victor’s smile crossed Isota’s lips. Soon there was a loud roar and a gust of wind. Hakan turned Fidelis’ body and threw him back into his arms.
Fidelis, enshrined in his large arms, did not have a single breeze.
As the gust of wind and roar died down, Fidelis pulled his face away and looked at Isota. Eland had fallen to the ground, and there was a large hole in his place. Shion quickly helped the staggering Isota.
“I should have killed him.”
For a split second, he escaped a fatal wound. He had fallen to the ground, but he was still alive. Hakan’s cold gaze stared down into the hole he couldn’t see.
If he hadn’t died, he had a chance to kill him with his own hands next time. Even if he had touched Fidelis and had a fight with Isota, he had no intention of taking it lightly.
“You’ve had a hard time. It was so powerful!”
It wasn’t enough to fight such a big man on an equal footing, and he won.
“Isota-san put in a lot of effort.”
Zion looked at Fidelis and said sweetly. It meant that he had been trying to die for Fidelis alone. The tip of his nose wrinkled for no reason.
“Now let’s go back to where we expected, shall we?”
Shion picked up the exhausted Isota. All Fidelis could do now was pray that it would be the last place.
* * *
Isota, who had recovered his strength, stepped out of Shion’s arms and stared at the glass, which was marked with black palm prints with Fidelis.
“You must have come in through here, right?”
“Yes.”
Fidelis raised his hand and knocked on the window, stammering, but he couldn’t get through like the monster. I tapped it on my forehead like a monster, but it didn’t open.
“I guess I was wrong….”
He relaxed and leaned against the window, where there was a click, and Fidelis disappeared through the window.
Fidelis couldn’t respond to the sliding door, which was wide open, and he fell to the floor. Looking around, he saw a bright light that he had never seen in the mansion illuminating the huge hall.
“Where the greatest scepter and light leaks in, there will be an end….”
Mumbled the note with the hint on it, Fidelis stood up.
“Welcome, Reese. Congratulations on finding the last place.”
Pecua, who was sitting in an ornate chair in the middle of the hall, waved playfully to her. Pecua’s presence was to be expected. Fidelis calmly opened the door again and exited the hall.
Ignored by the pause, Pecua slipped her awkward hand down from the air. Fidelis reappeared through the glass door. Hakan hurriedly picked up Fidelis and looked at her.
“The last place was right!”
Grinning, Fidelis turned his head and glanced at Chester. Chester nodded slightly.
“There’s a pecua inside.”
