- I Accidentally Saw Her Get Dumped — Now the Losing Heroine Senpai Won’t Stop Clinging to Me
- Episode 13 - Let's Go Outside and get some Fresh Air
On a Holiday Morning
I woke up a little earlier than usual on my day off.
Soft sunlight poured through the gap in the curtains. Looked like it was sunny outside. The forecast had called for clouds later in the afternoon, but for now, the sky was perfectly clear.
…Alright, today’s the perfect day.
Today is my very first “just the two of us” outing with Chiharu-senpai. Not at school, not in our uniforms—just the two of us, in casual clothes, spending time together. It’s never happened before, and I’ve been feeling jittery since last night. Nervous, yeah, but more than that… I was excited.
We’re meeting in front of a station a little ways from school. It’s a busy area, but far enough that we probably won’t run into classmates or club members. Senpai probably thought it through when choosing the spot.
I’ve got to make sure I don’t look like a total mess.
“Alright then…”
I opened my closet and started pulling out whatever seemed okay. Since I usually wear a school uniform, I barely own any decent casual clothes.
Most of what I had were loud graphic tees from middle school—stuff with oversized text or flashy designs. Honestly, now they all just feel kind of… off.
I stood in front of the mirror, holding one up.
“Hmm… something’s not right.”
The shirt had a big “NO LIMIT” printed across the chest. And a skull. Yeah, no. Definitely not. This is beyond limits. It’s tragic.
As I stood there agonizing over my wardrobe, I heard footsteps coming from the living room. The next moment, the door swung open without a knock. My sister poked her head in.
“Haru, what are you doing? …Ugh, you’re not seriously thinking of wearing that, are you?”
“Huh? Oh, no, I was just… getting some fresh air or something…”
“Fresh air, huh. And where exactly is this ‘fresh air’ located? Around some girl, maybe?”
“N-no, it’s not like that!”
“Really?”
She gave me a squinty, suspicious look—that silent pressure thing she’s so good at. I looked away, and she immediately stepped further into the room.
“Well, I don’t care where you’re going, but you should definitely not wear that shirt. That kind of print screams ‘middle school boy trying to be stylish but hasn’t figured it out yet.’”
“It’s not that bad…”
“Nope. Not happening. Your big sister is going to help. I am in a fashion club at uni, after all!”
Wait, what? That’s news to me. I always thought she dressed unusually well—guess that explains it.
But… I really didn’t want her catching on to what was actually going on with Senpai. I needed to wrap this up quickly.
“Nah, I’m good. It’s not that big a deal…”
But she wouldn’t back down.
“Haru, listen. High schoolers are in uniform most of the time, so casual clothes on a day off say a lot about who you are. You know over half of first impressions come from how you look?”
“For real?”
That actually sounded kind of important.
“For real. Trust me, this is the one thing your big sister actually knows about.”
And just like that, she dragged me into her room. She threw open her closet, pulled out a few pieces, and started coordinating an outfit like it was a military operation.
“First, no prints. Beginners should stick to solids. White shirt as the base. Navy or black pants. Nothing too loud, but clean and presentable. That’s the key.”
“Huh…”
“Next, ditch the sneakers. Go with loafers or something a bit more mature. Just because you’re in high school doesn’t mean you should dress like a kid. Acting a little older is just right.”
I let her dress me without resistance. A white shirt with faint stripes, slim black pants, and a simple silver bracelet on my wrist. I stood in front of the mirror.
“…Whoa, I kinda… look decent?”
“Right!? It’s not just ‘decent,’ it actually looks good! This is the level you’re aiming for! Now just act natural, and your charm will do the rest.”
“This isn’t some dating sim…”
“Alright, alright. Now go enjoy your fresh air—or should I say your little adventure,” she teased with a wink.
At least she played along with my weak excuse. She gave a fake cough and waved her hand dramatically.
“O-oh… sure.”
I stepped outside and began the slow walk to the station.
I took out my phone and checked the time—15 minutes early. Perfect.
As I passed a glass window, I caught a glimpse of my reflection.
(…Honestly, I should thank her.)
I thought she’d start prying, but she didn’t. She just helped me out, without asking too many questions. Yeah, she’s annoying, but… I realized she’s the kind of older sister you can rely on.
And so—
With my slightly upgraded look, I headed toward the station to meet Chiharu-senpai.
