- I Accidentally Saw Her Get Dumped — Now the Losing Heroine Senpai Won’t Stop Clinging to Me
- Episode 7 - I Smell You Like Senpai
Morning. The classroom looks the same as always.
I’m Ayase Haruma.
Not particularly flashy, but not exactly plain either.
If I had to place myself in the class hierarchy, I’d say I’m just a little below the middle.
But today, for some reason, things felt slightly different.
“Hey, Ayase-kun.”
It happened a little after I sat down.
The one who spoke to me was a girl from my class—Narumi Honoka.
Wavy, light-brown hair.
A uniquely styled uniform.
And an air of dreamy aloofness.
She’s the type people call “a bit quirky.”
“…Yeah? What is it?”
“Hey, are you and Shirakawa-senpai close lately?”
“…Huh?”
A weird sound escaped me before I could stop it.
“What? No, no, no, where did that even come from?”
I panicked a little and slipped into formal speech.
…Get a grip, Haruma.
“Hmm… Just a feeling, I guess?”
“‘Just a feeling’? What kind of reasoning is that?”
“Your scent.”
“…Huh?”
My mind went blank.
“Shirakawa-senpai always has this slightly sweet fragrance, right?
And, well, I thought I kinda caught a whiff of that from you.”
…Crap. She’s spot on.
Is this girl psychic!?
“N-no, you’re imagining it! Totally just your imagination!
Besides, I’m super careful not to let any scent linger!”
“Which actually makes it even more suspicious~”
People around us started whispering:
“Wait, what?” “Haruma-kun and Shirakawa-senpai?”
This is bad. Really bad.
I shook my head with everything I had.
“No, it’s not like that! Someone like me—just a regular guy—would never get close to someone like Shirakawa-senpai—”
“Ah, I see~ Well, whatever. Later~”
Narumi didn’t press any further and floated away like always.
I slumped over my desk with a groan.
“…Seriously, what the hell was that…”
Maybe this is just what happens when you get involved with someone popular…

After school.
When I arrived at our usual “secret spot,” Chiharu- Senpai was already there.
“Yo! Haruma-kun, great work today!”
“…Senpai.”
“Hmm?”
“I might’ve messed up a little.”
I told her the whole story, start to finish.
Chiharu-senpai blinked in surprise—then burst out laughing, scrunching up her face.
“Aaah, sorry! That’s totally my fault, isn’t it?!”
“Well… yeah.”
“But wow, there’s someone in your class that observant?
To notice by scent? That’s kinda crazy.”
“Yeah, her name’s Narumi. She’s… a bit odd. But her intuition is sharp.”
Chiharu-senpai chuckled.
“Narumi Honoka, huh… Oh yeah, I know her. Definitely stands out.”
“But you know, I kinda like it.”
“Huh?”
“This whole situation.
It feels like… a secret, right? Like a hidden, just-between-us kind of thing.”
“That’s… not exactly a good thing, though, is it?”
“Yeah, I know. It’s wrong. But it’s also kind of thrilling.”
She said it with zero remorse.
“…That’s a dangerous way to think, Senpai.”
“Maybe. But that’s the thing with secrets.
The second they’re exposed, everything crumbles.
That tension… is what makes it exciting.”
A shiver ran down my spine.
Chiharu-senpai was bright, cute, energetic—but also a little… unstable.
It’s like she’s standing right on the edge of a cliff, smiling like it’s no big deal.
Just as I was about to respond, she pulled out a slightly melted chocolate from her pocket and held it out to me.
“Here. It’s a little gooey, but sweet stuff always lifts your spirits.”
“…Thanks.”
“Cheer up, Harumacchi!”
“…Please don’t call me that.”
“I’m not stopping~ Harumacchi’s job is to comfort his big sis, okay? Okay? Comfort meee~!”
She popped the chocolate into her mouth and hit me with her usual “comfort meee~!” routine.
All I could do was clutch my head in despair.
Secrets—once exposed—fall apart in an instant.
I was starting to realize just how precarious this whole thing really was.
