I Am Her Secret Beauty and Strong Alpha (GL) - Chapter 24
Mu Xi fell silent.
It felt like an eternity passed.
Then she finally said, “Miss, I don’t have a personal life.”
“I know. That’s what I like most about you,” Nan Xi said calmly. “Alright, I understand the situation now. Goodbye.”
She hung up the phone without a hint of hesitation, leaving Mu Xi standing there holding her phone, stunned and confused.
Did Nan Xi just… so casually say she liked her?
And then just hung up without even giving her a chance to react?
…Does she say that to everyone?
Nan Xi had returned from abroad, where people tend to be more expressive. Maybe she really does say things like “I like you” and “I love you” often.
Mu Xi absentmindedly packed away the empty bag Nan Nan left behind and left the office to drive home.
She knew the real trouble was waiting for her at home.
As soon as she stepped into the Nan family home, all eyes were on her—curious, puzzled, and suspicious—trying to figure something out from her appearance.
Even with all the respect they had for Housekeeper Mu, it was clear to everyone now: her early recovery from the heat period meant she had been marked.
Suddenly, everyone thought: So even Housekeeper Mu has a s3x life?
Now that “Housekeeper Mu who actually has a s3x life” was back, the maids couldn’t help but look at her differently, wondering what her secret was.
How did she manage to balance love and work so well?
Mu Xi seemed like such a proper person. No one believed she’d casually find someone during a heat period. So they all guessed she had a secret lover.
Feeling uncomfortable under their gazes, Mu Xi forced a polite smile:
“Well, my break is over. Thank you all for taking care of things while I was away.”
No one responded. She quietly walked through them, heading to the laundry room to drop off Nan Nan’s dirty clothes.
After making sure the staff knew the special washing instructions for Nan Nan’s suit, she turned to leave—only to spot two people sneakily spying on her from the doorway.
Mu Xi sighed and stood still.
A housekeeper does have to take care of things, after all.
If it weren’t for her duties, she really didn’t want to have this awkward conversation.
“What are you two doing? Are your tasks done?”
Mu Xi’s serious tone called out the two eavesdroppers—Xiao Wang and Xiao Ji—and dragged them to a corner.
One beta and one omega, they exchanged guilty looks but finally gathered the courage to ask:
“We… well, not just us, everyone wants to know—are you in a relationship, Housekeeper Mu?”
Mu Xi was usually strict but kind, so they dared to ask so directly.
Xiao Wang giggled, her eyes full of excitement: “If you tell us who it is…”
“Stop imagining things,” Mu Xi said sternly, cutting her off with a glare. “I’m not in a relationship.”
She wasn’t lying. That was the truth.
They didn’t believe her but didn’t argue either.
Seeing they quieted down, Mu Xi softened her tone. “Not just you two—tell everyone not to let gossip affect work.”
Her gentle tone made them bolder.
Xiao Ji bravely spoke up: “But why did your break end early? Alphas only recover early from heat periods if they’re marked…”
Mu Xi looked at her.
Xiao Ji had even been on Nan Nan’s list of possible lovers for Mu Xi.
Mu Xi wanted to laugh but kept her face neutral—if she cracked now, these people would go wild.
“Xiao Ji, this is my personal life. It has nothing to do with work.”
“If you really must know, my answer is: No.”
She sent them back to work. When the others asked, they said Housekeeper Mu refused to admit anything and was keeping her “precious little omega” a secret.
Too bad, it would’ve made work more interesting.
Still, there was nothing they could do, so everyone went back to their tasks.
Mu Xi, who had been keeping an eye on things, quietly sighed in relief.
The maids gossiping was one thing.
But once Nan Zhiya and the others came back, that’s when things would get difficult.
Sure enough, when Nan Lian returned that evening, the first thing she did was ask the busy Mu Xi, “Are you in a relationship?”
She even showed her a chat with Nan Nan:
Nan Nan: “Meeting’s over.”
Nan Nan: “Sis, I’ve got something funny to tell you.”
Nan Lian: “What?”
Nan Nan: “Housekeeper Mu is back at work. You know what that means, right?”
Nan Lian: “?”
Nan Lian: “You’re overreacting. She’s a healthy adult alpha.”
Even though she acted calm in the chat, Nan Lian clearly found it interesting.
Mu Xi was oddly comforted. Maybe this meant her work ethic and abilities were recognized.
She lowered her head and said respectfully, “Miss, I’d like to keep my private life private.”
Nan Lian looked a little surprised but said nothing more and went to her room.
That was one hurdle passed.
But when the whole Nan family gathered at dinner and Nan Nan brought up the topic again, all eyes turned to Mu Xi.
This time, not just the family, but even the staff nearby were quietly listening in.
Nan Nan: “I was in a hurry this afternoon and didn’t get to ask—Housekeeper Mu, are you in a relationship?”
Everyone turned to look at Mu Xi.
Even Nan Xi seemed curious, putting down her fork and folding her hands, waiting.
She’s enjoying this like it’s some scandal, Mu Xi thought.
Nan Nan kindly offered a way out: “It’s okay, we’re not asking who it is. Just yes or no—are you dating?”
Mu Xi paused.
To admit in front of Nan Xi that she was in a relationship? The shame made her want to disappear.
But even Nan Zhiya looked curious now. Mu Xi, though proud, didn’t dare ruin their fun. So, under pressure, she nodded weakly. “Yes.”
Nan Nan cheered. “Told you! Housekeeper Mu would only date properly! Sis, pay up!”
Nan Lian calmly transferred the money. “Sent.”
Guan Yan laughed. “You two bet on this?”
Nan Nan grinned and showed off the transaction. “Look! 20,000 won!”
Even the staff nearby were struggling not to giggle.
See? She said she wasn’t dating earlier, but look at her now!
Just then, Nan Zhiya finally spoke.
She smiled, and the room went quiet.
“If only you all could be as worry-free as this.”
“What I fear isn’t that you don’t want relationships. If that’s the case, I won’t push. I’m just afraid your stubborn obsessions will trip you up one day.”
The cheerful mood turned heavy. Guan Yan quickly tried to lighten things up.
Nan Lian said nothing, quietly eating.
Nan Xi, on the other hand, didn’t seem to care. She just turned to Nan Nan and said, “Next time you have a fun bet like this, count me in.”
Nan Nan winced and shrank down, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire.
He didn’t mess around like the others. He never even dated.
Nan Zhiya snarked at him: “You’re 27 and still need your clothes delivered by the housekeeper. What more is there to say?”
Nan Xi burst out laughing and waved Mu Xi over to refill her wine.
Mu Xi, standing beside her, felt strange.
Not just because of their secret relationship, but also because of something else.
She recalled what Nan Xi had once said—about someone who hurt Nan Lian eight years ago, and how Nan Zhiya had stepped in.
From what Mu Xi remembered… Nan Lian used to have a girlfriend.
She wasn’t sure if it was always the same person.
As she drifted into thought, Nan Xi suddenly called, “Housekeeper Mu.”
Mu Xi snapped back to reality and realized she had overfilled Nan Xi’s wine glass.
She immediately apologized and tried to take the glass to pour some out.
Nan Xi stopped her. “Leave it.”
“But,” she said, glancing up mischievously—only Mu Xi could see the sly look in her eyes.
Her voice was distant, professional. “Don’t let your relationship affect your work.”
She paused deliberately on the words “relationship,” a jab only the two of them would understand.
Yet her tone and wording were perfectly appropriate, like a proper lady scolding her housekeeper—not a secret lover playing games.
Ashamed of her slip-up, Mu Xi bowed and apologized:
“Sorry, Miss. I’ll stay focused from now on.”
