I Am Not a Scummy Alpha (GL) - Chapter 3
“?”
“Why are you calling me a silly dog again, Lin Jinzhu? I’m really not silly.”
Gu Qiu’s eyes held frustration, and her tone was muffled.
How was she silly? As an heir, she had to study all sorts of courses from a young age, and she got high scores in every required subject at school.
Only Lin Jinzhu always called her silly.
She was not convinced.
While speaking, she had already folded her hands over the sofa and rested her cheek on them, looking up at the Omega beside her.
Lin Jinzhu’s room was always very cold and austere. In the beginning, even the bedroom lighting was cold white. The first time Gu Qiu visited, she felt it was too impersonal and uncomfortable to live in. Later, she pestered Lin Jinzhu and successfully had all the lights changed to a mix of warm and white light.
After that, whenever Gu Qiu came over, the lights in Lin Jinzhu’s house were always warm.
At this moment, Lin Jinzhu was sitting in the warm light. Her profile was beautiful. Her dark hair, spread out, made her face look smaller and her features more delicate. From Gu Qiu’s perspective, she could even clearly see the faint golden sheen on the other person’s eyelashes in the warm light, fluttering slightly with her breath and casting a small shadow beneath her eyelids.
Her childhood friend’s skin was very fair, so fair that even under the warm light, it couldn’t hide its cold, jade-like texture, giving her an icy feeling.
As if she could never be warmed up, no matter what you did.
Thinking this, Gu Qiu recalled Lin Jinzhu’s cold hands. Although the air conditioning was on, Lin Jinzhu’s body temperature seemed to be like this all year round.
She said, “Lin Jinzhu, your hands are so cold, why don’t you try to warm them up?”
She didn’t expect Lin Jinzhu to reply. As she spoke, she naturally pulled Lin Jinzhu’s hand over and tucked it under the side of her own face.
An Alpha’s body temperature always seemed to be higher than others. Warming Lin Jinzhu’s hand with her face like this, her bright fox eyes gazed at the other person, a smile gracing her lips, and the mole on the bridge of her nose looked incredibly sexy.
Her half-tied hair hung down, a small portion of the ends brushing Lin Jinzhu’s hand, causing a slight tickle as she moved while speaking.
Lin Jinzhu’s heart abruptly skipped a beat, and the fingers pressed under Gu Qiu’s face also trembled.
“You…”
Gu Qiu thought she wanted to pull away and pressed down a little tighter: “It hasn’t warmed up yet, don’t move.”
The unspoken words were interrupted. Lin Jinzhu awkwardly looked away: “…Mm.”
The air was silent for a moment, then sound returned.
“Lin Jinzhu, are you still uncomfortable right now?”
After an Omega receives a suppressor injection, their body doesn’t recover instantly. There is still a period of weakness, the length of which varies from person to person.
“I’m okay,” Lin Jinzhu replied, her voice a little husky.
Gu Qiu didn’t believe her, but she knew that Lin Jinzhu, by nature, didn’t like to overtly expose her weak side. So, she changed the way she asked: “Then when are you going to school?”
“Tomorrow at four in the afternoon.”
This told Gu Qiu that Lin Jinzhu’s body would likely recover around four tomorrow afternoon.
“Then I’ll come and pick you up,” Gu Qiu said, her eyes sparkling, staring at her intently, her reflection mirrored in Gu Qiu’s eyes. “I’ll be finished with class right around then.”
Lin Jinzhu’s gaze shifted as if burned. A moment later, she said softly, “Suit yourself.”
…
Gu Qiu didn’t stay long. Remembering that Lin Jinzhu had just passed her heat and might still need rest, she quickly said goodbye. She had only come this time out of worry, simply wanting to see Lin Jinzhu for a few moments.
As she left, she waved her hand and said, “See you tomorrow, Lin Jinzhu. Get some rest early.”
“See you tomorrow.”
With a “click,” the door opened briefly for two seconds and was closed from the outside. The house, which had been filled with liveliness, became quiet again with Gu Qiu’s departure.
Lin Jinzhu sat on the sofa in the exact same posture, remaining still for a long time. It wasn’t until her body felt cold again and the Alpha’s intense warmth had completely dissipated from her hand that she lowered her head, looking at the back of her hand.
There was a small, faint red mark there—a smudge of lip gloss that Gu Qiu had accidentally transferred when warming her hand. It was only about half the size of a thumb and very pale in colour.
The other person probably hadn’t noticed this small detail.
Lin Jinzhu slowly raised her hand to her eyes, staring at the lip gloss smudge for a long, long time. Then, slowly, slowly, she lowered her head.
Her soft lips landed on the back of her hand, covering the barely perceptible lip gloss.
Parts of the Omega’s features were hidden in the dim light, and her hair obscured half her cheek, making her specific expression unclear, leaving only a faint sense of suppression and restraint in her eyes.
“What a fool.”
It was unclear if she was referring to Gu Qiu or herself.
The news of a commoner special talent student arriving at Svir Academy was known to quite a few people by the next day.
It was a novelty, and at first, some people discussed it.
“Does Svir Academy have some new plans we don’t know about?”
“Why suddenly admit special talent students for no reason? I thought Svir practiced elite education.”
“I heard that a lot of comments suddenly appeared online in the Imperial Capital saying the existence of aristocratic schools was detrimental to social fairness. It caused quite a stir, so Svir Academy decided to admit a batch of special talent students sequentially. The one who enrolled yesterday should be the first.”
“That’s really strange. Svir Academy has a hundred-year history and has always been fine. Why did such comments suddenly surface now?”
“It’s said that Svir’s treatment of these special talent students is excellent. Not only are all tuition and fees waived, but they also get a five-figure Imperial Capital currency subsidy every month.”
One should know that even the monthly salary for the working class in the Imperial Capital is only five thousand Imperial Capital currency.
“But seriously, this doesn’t seem to affect us much.”
The matter of the special talent student wasn’t discussed for too long. Firstly, the students here had plenty of entertainment and activities outside of school; they weren’t lacking fun. Secondly, the school inherently favoured elite education, with many courses, so they didn’t have excessive time or energy to devote to such matters.
The news was like a tiny, insignificant stone dropped into a body of water, causing only a brief ripple before the surface quickly returned to calm.
However, Xu Wenyue brought up the matter with Gu Qiu again during class the next day.
“Gu Qiu, I heard you ran into that transfer student yesterday?”
“What transfer student?”
Seeing that the confusion in Gu Qiu’s eyes was genuine, Xu Wenyue pursed her lips and said, “Don’t you remember? That Liang Suisui.”
“Liang Suisui?” Gu Qiu thought back. “Who? Don’t know her.”
Xu Wenyue’s expression carried a hint of reproach: “Gu Qiu, you bumped into her just yesterday.”
Hearing this, a few scenes flashed through Gu Qiu’s mind, and she finally had an impression.
She tilted her head, raised an eyebrow, and found it amusing: “What did this Liang Suisui tell you?”
Xu Wenyue’s eyes flickered, and she didn’t speak.
Gu Qiu took that as confirmation. She rested her chin in one hand, a seemingly lazy posture that looked exceptionally beautiful and alluring when she did it.
Her fingers idly twisted the ends of her hair, and she said, “But the fact is, she tried to lunge into my arms, but I dodged. Wenyue, she did it on purpose.”
She stated almost with certainty: “I think there’s more to her than meets the eye.”
The instinct of a high-ranking Alpha told Gu Qiu that something about the other person was trying to attract her.
She hated that feeling.
Gu Qiu asked, “What about you? How do you know her name, and how did you cross paths with her?”
Gu Qiu wasn’t stupid. Her friend’s reaction clearly indicated that she had interacted with Liang Suisui without Gu Qiu knowing.
Xu Wenyue was momentarily lost in thought. How did she know Liang Suisui’s name?
Xu Wenyue recalled the scene from last night when she encountered Liang Suisui in the quiet grove on campus. At that time, the Omega’s eyes seemed a little red, making her look fragile yet strong.
How strange. The scene that had moved her so much yesterday could now be recalled with such composure.
She had even questioned her own friend earlier based on the other person’s one-sided story, which was unlike her character.
But a flash of that Omega’s slightly red eyes crossed her mind, and her body and consciousness seemed to split into two independent entities, as she spoke an uncontrollable sentence:
“I just find her quite interesting.”
On the other side, Liang Suisui sat in the classroom, which looked incredibly high-tech just by looking at it. Feeling the soft, smooth Svir uniform on her body, she still felt a sense of unreality, as if everything was still a dream.
She thought vaguely, Is this an aristocratic school? In comparison, the ordinary school she attended before looked utterly drab.
The students around her were all wearing the same uniform. The same clothes, yet on them, every movement exuded elegance and composure, while she felt slightly awkward wearing it.
Apart from her initial entrance, no one paid attention to her anymore. Everyone here was busy with their own affairs.
No, this is all wrong.
Liang Suisui tightened her grip on the corner of her uniform, thinking that the current scene was completely different from the dream.
In the dream, she was so attention-grabbing because of her entanglement with Gu Qiu at the school gate, and topics about her were endless on the Svir Academy forum.
Why was it that now no one cared?
Liang Suisui only felt frustrated. She reached into her pocket, where a rose earring lay quietly. Its hard texture pressed against her, and its presence was as conspicuous as that vibrant Alpha from yesterday.
She thought she might have to take the initiative to do something.
Lin Jinzhu was due to arrive at school at four in the afternoon. After the first class of the afternoon ended, Gu Qiu stood up somewhat impatiently and rushed towards the school gate.
Just as she arrived, Lin Jinzhu’s figure also appeared at the school entrance.
The smile in Gu Qiu’s eyes was bright. Seeing that Lin Jinzhu hadn’t noticed her yet, she raised her hand and called out:
“Lin…”
Another voice, however, loudly interrupted her.
“Hey, you’re that arrogant Alpha from yesterday, right? I found something you lost.”
