I Am Not a Scummy Alpha (GL) - Chapter 4
The name she hadn’t fully called out was interrupted.
The petite Omega suddenly rushed over, thus blocking her path to Lin Jinzhu.
Likewise, as soon as that sentence was spoken, Lin Jinzhu’s gaze at the school gate shifted, and she looked over here.
The autumn scenery at Svir Academy was pleasant. The path near the school gate was lined with two rows of maple trees, now dropping deep yellow leaves in the autumn.
As classes dismissed at Svir Academy, the flow of people increased, all wearing the same uniform. Lin Jinzhu’s gaze, however, crossed the crowd and the falling maple leaves, landing precisely on Gu Qiu.
The moment their eyes met, Gu Qiu’s eyes sparkled, and she immediately flashed a brilliant smile. Even the naturally seductive small mole on the bridge of her nose moved slightly, acquiring a touch of brightness.
It was like the dazzling sun.
Liang Suisui was impacted by such a vivid beauty, momentarily unable to recover her senses.
She, by sheer coincidence, had her back to the school gate, positioning herself right between Gu Qiu and Lin Jinzhu.
Thus, from her perspective, Gu Qiu looked at her, suddenly softening her features and displaying an extremely brilliant smile for her.
Liang Suisui’s heart rate quietly accelerated. Her palms began to sweat. While extremely excited, she also felt a little self-satisfied.
See? So what if she’s an heiress of a prominent family? She still shows this special side to me.
Seeing Gu Qiu already moving closer towards her, Liang Suisui’s heart pounded.
The temperature had dropped slightly in the last two days. The Alpha was wearing the Svir uniform underneath a khaki trench coat, holding a cloth bag in her hand, containing something unknown. Her upturned black eyeliner and red lips made her look commanding and cool, but unfortunately, her hair was completely down, covering her ears.
I wonder if she’s wearing earrings today and if she’s noticed that the stud is missing. Liang Suisui put her hand into her pocket, feeling the cold touch of the rose earring with her fingertip, as these two thoughts crossed her mind.
Gu Qiu was getting closer and closer to her.
Twenty meters… thirteen meters… ten meters…
As the distance slowly closed, Liang Suisui rehearsed the dialogue in her mind.
When Gu Qiu was still four steps away from her, Liang Suisui swallowed nervously. She raised her chin slightly, feigning disdain, and was just about to take out the rose earring.
“Hey, I found…”
Before she could finish, the rest of her words were caught in her throat. Gu Qiu walked past her without even looking, her steps never faltering. She just… left.
Left?
Liang Suisui was stunned. In her pocket, her hand gripping the earring tightened involuntarily. The sharp end dug into her flesh, and a stinging sensation instantly spread from her fingertip.
On the other side, Gu Qiu paid no attention to who the person in front of her was. She walked around the unexpected obstruction and headed straight for Lin Jinzhu.
“Lin Jinzhu, you’re here! Looks like I arrived just in time.” She walked up to Lin Jinzhu, smiling at her, and naturally reached out to poke the side of the other person’s cheek.
As she did so, Lin Jinzhu’s delicate skin formed a tiny dimple, and Gu Qiu felt the coolness on her fingertip.
“Your face is cold,” Gu Qiu said.
She glanced at the thin school uniform Lin Jinzhu was wearing, frowning slightly in disapproval. “The temperature has dropped today, and you’ve just recovered from your heat. Why aren’t you wearing more layers? What if you get sick?”
Lin Jinzhu looked up, her features appearing even cooler and more refined in the autumn wind. She said, “It’s not cold in the car, and the classroom has heating.”
Besides, it wasn’t winter yet, and she hadn’t really felt much coldness.
“That’s still not good! There’s the walk on the road, and the wind is quite strong today,” Gu Qiu said. Then, hooking the cloth bag she was carrying with her finger, she held it out to Lin Jinzhu, a hint of smugness in her smile. “Luckily, I anticipated this and brought you a jacket.”
With that, she took the jacket out.
It was also a trench coat, the same colour as the one Gu Qiu was wearing, with only subtle differences in style. From a distance, an uninformed person might mistake them for matching couple outfits.
A ripple quietly stirred in Lin Jinzhu’s eyes.
Gu Qiu, however, was completely oblivious, continuing to talk to herself.
“You must have thought it was too much trouble again. Lin Jinzhu, if you don’t start taking better care of your body, I’m going to get angry,” Gu Qiu said. “If you catch a cold, you won’t be the only one suffering. I’ll suffer too.”
Lin Jinzhu was silent for a while, then said, “Stop saying things that are so easily misunderstood.”
“How is that misleading?” Gu Qiu mumbled, but her actions were quick and deft as she draped the trench coat over Lin Jinzhu.
“It’s the truth.”
The trench coat blocked the autumn wind. The moment it was placed over her, a layer of warmth could be felt. This warmth, however, didn’t come from the coat itself, but from the sudden closeness of Gu Qiu’s warm body as she helped her put it on.
Lin Jinzhu’s body stiffened slightly. She lowered her eyes to look at the Alpha’s face, which was inches away, and her focused expression as she adjusted the coat. Lin Jinzhu did not move.
On the other side, Liang Suisui had long since turned back, and it was unclear how long she had been watching their interaction.
She watched Gu Qiu ignore her, walk straight to another Omega, and then intimately help that Omega put on a coat.
From beginning to end, neither of them spared her a glance.
Liang Suisui secretly gritted her teeth. Due to the angle, she couldn’t clearly see the Omega’s full appearance, only faintly catching a glimpse of a small portion of a clear, cool face.
But Liang Suisui was sure she didn’t know that Omega. In her dream, this person had never appeared by Gu Qiu’s side.
This made Liang Suisui uneasy.
She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn’t even notice the two had already walked away. When she snapped back to reality, she saw them disappear around the corner.
Liang Suisui couldn’t restrain herself and immediately wanted to chase after them.
The next second, someone suddenly called out to her from behind.
“Liang Suisui.”
The voice was gentle. Liang Suisui recognised it—it was Xu Wenyue.
She had met Xu Wenyue yesterday. Yesterday, just as she had dreamed, she appeared in Svir’s maple grove, feigning sadness.
At first, she wasn’t sure, but Xu Wenyue truly appeared, just like in the dream, comforting her with the exact same words and exchanging contact information on their optical computers.
This made Liang Suisui both surprised and delighted. What she had dreamed was indeed true!
According to the dream’s content, Xu Wenyue was Gu Qiu’s friend who would turn against her in the future to compete for Liang Suisui.
Thinking this, a surge of intense pleasure arose in Liang Suisui’s heart, a pleasure that caused her features to momentarily contort.
It’s a pity, though, that Xu Wenyue is a Beta, and her family’s influence and status are not as great as Gu Qiu’s.
Furthermore, compared to Xu Wenyue’s more delicate and elegant face, she still preferred Gu Qiu’s bright, intense, mature-looking beauty.
Thinking this, Liang Suisui felt a little regretful.
But that didn’t stop her from halting her steps, turning back, and showing a cheerful smile.
“Sister Wenyue,” she called out affectionately.
“Class is about to start. If you stay here, you’ll probably be late,” Xu Wenyue said.
Liang Suisui wrinkled her small face, feigning distress: “But I can’t find the classroom. This school is too big.”
Xu Wenyue looked at the clever and cute Omega, and an inexplicable feeling of affection arose in her heart. This feeling was strange, but she couldn’t control it. She blurted out, “I’ll take you there. We should be having class in the same academic building.”
Hearing the expected answer, Liang Suisui said, “Okay, thank you, Sister Wenyue.”
The two walked towards the academic building, separated by a short distance.
Halfway there, Liang Suisui’s eyes flickered. She spoke as if it were a casual remark: “Sister Wenyue, I saw your friend at the school gate just now.”
Xu Wenyue thought for a moment: “Friend? Are you talking about Gu Qiu?”
Liang Suisui nodded: “Yes. She seemed to be with an Omega.”
Xu Wenyue understood: “That must be Lin Jinzhu. She came to school today, and Gu Qiu went to pick her up.”
In a place no one could see, she clenched her hand but still wore a curious expression: “Wow, that’s so thoughtful! Are they a couple?”
When discussing her two friends, the smile in Xu Wenyue’s eyes became much more genuine. She said, “No, their pheromone compatibility is only five percent. Although they’re very clingy, they are indeed just friends.”
Tsk, only five percent pheromone compatibility…
Liang Suisui was completely relieved. Five percent pheromone compatibility meant they couldn’t do anything. Not to mention whether they could fall in love, the more important thing was that only an Alpha and Omega with a compatibility of thirty percent or higher could smell each other’s pheromones and complete a mark.
She relaxed the hand she had tightly gripped and smiled much more naturally: “Ah, I’m sorry, I misunderstood. They looked very close, so I thought they were a couple.”
By the time Gu Qiu and Lin Jinzhu arrived at the classroom, it was almost time for class.
When they first enrolled, the two had chosen the same major. Even the elective courses were planned and chosen to be identical before the school year began.
When the two walked into the elective classroom side-by-side, everyone’s expressions were normal, clearly already accustomed to the sight.
Svir’s elective courses were diverse. Students were required to start taking electives in their second year, choosing at least three courses annually.
In this situation, some popular courses were bound to be highly sought after.
This elective class was undoubtedly one of the more popular ones. The classroom was crowded; looking around, many people were already seated. The empty seats were scattered and mostly singles.
However, in the third row, two connected empty seats remained vacant by silent agreement—they were implicitly saved by everyone for Gu Qiu and Lin Jinzhu.
After all, everyone knew these two had to sit together.
After sitting down, Gu Qiu expertly tidied Lin Jinzhu’s chair and took out a wet wipe from her bag to clean the desk.
Lin Jinzhu, in turn, smoothly took two textbooks out of her bag and handed one to Gu Qiu.
The series of actions was smooth and effortless, looking incredibly practiced.
Although it wasn’t the first time seeing their way of interacting, seeing this scene still made some people whisper.
“Gu Qiu, fine, but when I first met Lin Jinzhu at enrollment, I thought she’d be cold to everyone.”
“I guess you can only say, are they really worthy of the name ‘childhood sweethearts’?”
