I Am Not a Scummy Alpha (GL) - Chapter 7
The private room’s design offered excellent privacy, divided into inner and outer sections. Waiters usually stood in the outer section so they could rush over immediately if the guests inside needed anything.
While Xu Wenyue was outside, Liang Suisui took out a powder compact and lipstick from her small bag and meticulously touched up her makeup in the small mirror.
The magnificent rose earring lay quietly on one side of her small bag. Red gemstones were carved into the shape of a rose and set into it. Under the warm light, it looked even more gorgeous and dazzling.
Liang Suisui stared at it for a few seconds, then casually closed the bag.
I’ll return this earring next time. That way, I’ll have one more excuse to interact with Gu Qiu.
Sophia restaurant had a high-end, retro style. To ensure a good dining experience, the space in each private room was considerable, making the outside corridor rather long.
After receiving the message, Xu Wenyue was initially worried that the two might not find the place, but when she reached the outer door and opened it, she saw Gu Qiu and Lin Jinzhu.
The warm light in the corridor was bright. The two of them, wearing matching trench coats, were walking towards her. Both were strikingly handsome people and very eye-catching together.
However, Xu Wenyue easily sensed the strange atmosphere between them.
She didn’t show it on her face and smiled, saying, “You two finally made it. I heard this restaurant has a great reputation, so I’ve already ordered a few signature dishes. You can check the screen later if there’s anything else you like.”
Lin Jinzhu gave a cool “Mm,” and said, “Wenyue, sorry to keep you waiting.”
“I haven’t been waiting long. Let’s go in,” Xu Wenyue said.
Lin Jinzhu didn’t spare a glance for Gu Qiu. She took a step and walked in first.
Xu Wenyue lingered behind, first looking at Lin Jinzhu’s back, then at Gu Qiu beside her. She found it very strange: “Are you two fighting? Or just sulking?”
This cool atmosphere between them was a rare occurrence indeed.
Gu Qiu raised her eyes, looked towards the door, and said gloomily, “Neither.”
Seeing the faint look of disappointment on her face, Xu Wenyue shook her head helplessly, thinking, She’s this glum and still says she’s not sulking?
Meanwhile, Liang Suisui was sitting in the private room. Hearing the sound of people entering, she pretended to look up inadvertently, only to meet a pair of cool, willow-leaf eyes.
The owner of the eyes possessed an extremely beautiful, jade-like, cool face. She was wearing the Svir Academy uniform with a khaki trench coat over it. Her features were delicate and serene, and her dark hair was half-coiled, but the soft scarf around her neck softened some of the cold detachment.
If Liang Suisui only found the face familiar at first, she immediately remembered who this person was upon seeing the trench coat and scarf.
The Omega who stood with Gu Qiu this morning, the one named Lin Jinzhu.
On the other side, Lin Jinzhu had clearly also noticed the unfamiliar face.
Gu Qiu had shown her the chat page earlier, so she knew Xu Wenyue would bring a new friend. Therefore, seeing another person inside didn’t surprise her.
Yet, for some unknown reason, Lin Jinzhu felt an instinctive aversion to this Omega.
This rejection was strange; logically, they didn’t know each other and hadn’t met before.
Lin Jinzhu slightly frowned, suppressing the feeling.
At the door, Gu Qiu and Xu Wenyue also walked in shortly after.
Xu Wenyue walked closer and said, “Let me introduce you. Jinzhu, this is Liang Suisui. She just transferred to Svir recently. You might be meeting her for the first time.”
Afterward, she smiled at Liang Suisui and said, “These two are my friends. You’ve met one of them. The other is named Lin Jinzhu.”
Beside her, Lin Jinzhu caught a key piece of information. She looked up and couldn’t help but glance at Gu Qiu.
Gu Qiu had met this Omega named Liang Suisui?
An inexplicable unease arose in Lin Jinzhu’s heart, instinctively resisting any contact between Gu Qiu and the other person.
Gu Qiu was looking down, appearing uninterested. Hearing Xu Wenyue’s words, she merely raised her eyes and gave a simple “Mm.”
Liang Suisui, however, stood up from her seat when she saw Gu Qiu and said, “Hmph, to think I run into you again.”
The petite, delicate Omega stood with her hands on her hips, her apricot eyes wide, and her round face slightly wrinkled. She looked stubborn and cute, staring at people.
She really is just like a tenacious little weed.
This strange thought flashed through Gu Qiu’s mind. A look of surprise crossed Gu Qiu’s eyes, and she quickly pinched her palm to dispel the thought, finding it utterly bizarre and fantastical.
What the heck? Why did that peculiar thought pop into my head?
Meanwhile, after speaking, Liang Suisui silently waited for Gu Qiu to challenge her. After all, in the dream, their relationship was a classic ‘lovers who bicker’ type: the spoiled, proud rich daughter and the poor, resilient little weed.
She waited and waited, finally getting the reaction she wanted as Gu Qiu looked over and spoke.
She only heard the other person say, “May I ask who you are?”
“?”
Liang Suisui’s bravado came to an abrupt halt. She asked incredulously, “You don’t remember me?”
She had bumped into Gu Qiu, blocked her path two or three times, and spoken so many words to her over just two days, yet Gu Qiu didn’t remember her?!
She tried to stare at Gu Qiu’s bright, beautiful face, refusing to believe it, but the other person had already looked away first.
Liang Suisui was suddenly unsure. Did Gu Qiu truly have no recollection of her???
The surroundings were silent; no one spoke.
Lin Jinzhu’s face was calm, subtly observing the interaction between the two. Seeing that the Omega was still looking at Gu Qiu, her eyes darkened slightly. She abruptly walked toward the round table in the centre.
“When will the food be served?”
“Soon,” Xu Wenyue estimated the time, finding it odd. “Are you hungry?”
Lin Jinzhu replied without changing her expression: “A little.”
Then, she found the nearest seat and sat down.
Gu Qiu habitually walked over and sat down next to Lin Jinzhu. By coincidence, the seat was directly across from Liang Suisui.
After sitting down, Gu Qiu reflexively started to lean towards Lin Jinzhu. Before she could act on it, she remembered the other person’s hurtful words and forced herself to suppress the urge to lean over.
Not only that, she deliberately moved further away to the other side.
Gu Qiu didn’t try to hide her movement, but Lin Jinzhu showed no reaction, seemingly uncaring.
This made Gu Qiu feel even more annoyed.
None of the four spoke. The atmosphere around them was strangely stagnant. Finally, the sound of a waiter knocking on the door broke the stalemate.
The dishes Xu Wenyue ordered were ready. Several waiters came in with trays and, after serving them, bowed politely.
“Please enjoy your meal. If you need anything, please call softly; we will be outside.”
Then, they retreated one by one with gentle, orderly movements.
Upon seeing the dishes on the table, Gu Qiu’s first reaction was to glance at Lin Jinzhu.
Sophia’s signature dish was seafood. The seafood on the table was artificially cultivated in the Imperial Capital, requiring extremely high standards for water temperature and feed quality, thus costing a premium. The ingredients had been prepared before being served, cut into small sections, but still required manual shelling.
Gu Qiu knew that Lin Jinzhu hated the fuss and generally wouldn’t eat anything with a shell.
Gu Qiu secretly glanced over. Sure enough, Lin Jinzhu looked at the dishes on the table and only picked up a small piece of fish meat next to them, but she didn’t eat much.
Gu Qiu thought, I used to peel the shells for Lin Jinzhu, but tonight Lin Jinzhu said something hurtful, so I’ve decided not to talk to her for now.
That was her intention, but during the meal, she couldn’t help but feel distracted, secretly looking at Lin Jinzhu several times.
When she saw that Lin Jinzhu hadn’t eaten much at all, the fingers holding her chopsticks tightened slightly.
Although I’ve decided not to talk to Lin Jinzhu tonight…
But honestly, I can still peel the shells for Lin Jinzhu even if I don’t talk to her.
Besides, Lin Jinzhu just said she was a little hungry. How can she not eat more?
Gu Qiu easily convinced herself. To make it easier to move, she pulled the hair tie from her wrist and tied up her loose hair, leaving only a few stray strands hanging down, exposing her fair, slender neck and jade-like ears.
Liang Suisui, sitting across from her, specifically checked: Gu Qiu was not wearing any ear accessories today.
This made her look toward her small bag again.
Xu Wenyue noticed her distraction and gently asked, “What’s wrong, Suisui?”
Liang Suisui pulled back her gaze guiltily and said, “N-nothing. I’m just not very good at shelling.”
Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was enough for those nearby to hear.
Simultaneously with her words, Gu Qiu put on a glove and reached out her hand. She picked up a large shrimp from the table and began to shell and de-vein it.
Liang Suisui watched this scene, feeling triumphant and pleased. Sure enough, Gu Qiu was just being difficult when she said she didn’t know me. She couldn’t help secretly paying attention to me, could she?
And now she’s thoughtfully peeling shrimp for me.
However, on the surface, Liang Suisui “Hmphed”: “I didn’t expect you to be quite nice, even though you’re impolite.”
Seeing that Gu Qiu didn’t reply and continued to place the peeled shrimp meat onto a plate, Liang Suisui said, “This should be enough, I…” I can’t eat this much.
Before she could finish, she saw Gu Qiu stand up and silently place the plate in front of Lin Jinzhu.
Then, she sat back down without saying a word. The entire sequence of actions was extremely smooth, clearly showing it was something she did often.
“…” The smile on Liang Suisui’s face almost faltered.
After doing all this, Gu Qiu looked up and saw that both Xu Wenyue and the Omega named Liang Suisui were looking at her. She asked in confusion, “Why are you all staring at me?”
Did something happen while I was peeling shrimp for Lin Jinzhu?
Xu Wenyue shook her head and said, “Nothing. We were just chatting. Suisui just mentioned that she isn’t good at shelling.”
Gu Qiu took off her gloves and said carelessly, “Aren’t the waiters outside? Just call a waiter.”
