I Am The Third Party (GL) - Chapter 10
“The black swans are beautiful. I like the black one with the red beak.”
I was a little surprised. I looked for the black ones among the large white birds and noticed that the black swan’s beak was red.
“It’s indeed beautiful. Black is a rare species among many animals. Miss Xiao really has unique taste,”
Sun Minrui praised.
Xiao Xuewu shook her head and chuckled. “I don’t understand that. I just think it looks beautiful.”
Black is a rare species? How come I had never heard of it?
But I was wrong. I sincerely believed that she must like the white swan. She is just like a white swan, pure, elegant, and noble.
Well, even now she is just my employee.
But other people’s opinions are never just based on “I think” – no matter who they are or what their opinions are.
Sun Minrui kept finding topics to chat with Xiao Xuewu. At first, he pretended to ask me a few questions, but then he directly ignored me and kept referring to me as “Miss Xiao”.
I didn’t want to pay any attention to him at all. His absence gave me peace and quiet, but it was hard on Xiao Xuewu. We’d originally planned to hang out, but she ended up being my shield.
Xiao Xuewu suddenly said, “Mr. Sun, Xianyu told me the other day she was craving some Cantonese dim sum. Mr. Sun, would you like to join us?”
“Oh, really? Yuerenju is indeed quite good. Since we’ve already booked it, let’s go there. You guys book the table, I’ll pay the bill, haha. Why did Xianyu want to eat Cantonese food? I remember you didn’t like sweet food as a child.”
I slapped the water with a branch I’d just broken from the willow tree by the shore. “I just wanted to try it. Not all food is sweet.” “
Okay,” Sun Minrui nodded expertly, commenting, “That’s how it is with food. You should try everything. It’s wrong to only favor one thing over another. Every cuisine, every cooking method has its own unique strengths and advantages…”
I twitched my lips. This man is amazing. He can make any topic sound grand and sophisticated.
Today was a long day.
This was probably the worst blind date I’ve ever been on. In the elegant dining room of Yuerenju, a
wooden
table shaped like a root carving was laden with delicate snacks and delicious soups.
Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the small private room with exceptional brightness. The green plants in the corners flourished beautifully.
Sun Minrui busily introduced each dish, occasionally helping Xiao Xuewu with food and taking a moment to look after me.
When he scooped a round, round piece of tangbushuang into my bowl, I was so flattered I practically jumped up and said thank you three times.
“Ladies, Mr. Sun watches the A City noon news every day. It’s time now. Do you mind if I turn on the TV?”
Xiao Xuewu and I both agreed.
He stood up and turned on the small LCD TV mounted on the wall, tuning it to A City TV. A serious host sat upright, reading the news in a serious manner.
First, there were national events, interviews with provincial and municipal leaders, and new policies, followed by some financial news.
When the television screen shifted to the reporters’ interview scene, Sun Minrui’s eyes suddenly lit up, and he sat up, staring intently at the screen.
I recognized that spot on TV; it was the bustling section of Hua’an Street.
From above, a cluster of tall, snow-white buildings looked like an eagle flapping its wings, ready to take flight. Mirrors attached to the sides of the towering structures reflected the blue sky and white clouds, a breathtaking sight.
On the facade of the main building, a giant silver relief read “Suomi-Kiina Kansainvlisen kaupan keskus,” with the simplified Chinese sign “Finland-China International Trade Center” below.
Not far away, another tower bore the abstract black and white letters: Lumikki.
Anyone in City A knew this was the China headquarters of Lumikki International, a Finnish company.
Bathed in sunlight, the two buildings reflected the sky, creating a magnificent juxtaposition. Between them, a sculptural fountain gushed forth, its rising water droplets casting a dazzling halo of light in the strong sunlight.
The commercial center was bustling with people and traffic, and Lumikki International, amidst this lavish and luxurious area, stood out as a breathtaking spectacle, a symbol of rising success.
A handsome reporter in formal attire, microphone in hand, excitedly showed the audience the bustling commercial city behind him. His voice boomed with energy: “Hello everyone, we are now seeing the Lumikki International headquarters in China, also known as the ‘Sky Mirror City.’ The mall to our right is the Sino-Finnish International Trade Center, City A’s largest Sino-foreign joint venture. On the other side is the Lumikki main building. Lumikki news has been all the rage lately, thanks to official confirmation from Lumikki: Asta, President of Lumikki International, has left Finland for China!”
Sun Minrui stared intently at the screen, almost as if he were being sucked into the LCD screen.
Hey, it’s just a friendly visit from a foreign company boss. What’s his connection to him? Why get all excited?
Xiao Xuewu glanced at the TV, uninterested in these business luminaries. She handed me a plate of fried rice cakes with coconut milk. “Xianyu, this tastes delicious.”
The reporter’s voice continued in a rhythmic voice: “But this CEO is very mysterious. He hasn’t been seen yet. Apart from the top executives, even Lumikki employees don’t have any information about the top boss.” Currently, all instructions regarding Asta are issued by his personal secretary, Mr. Jorma. No one knows Asta’s purpose in coming to China. Will Lumikki make any big moves next? Our station will be following Lumikki for the next week…
“Ah, this Asta is really rich… I just wonder if he’s handsome.”
I poked the rice cakes in the bowl with a chopstick in each hand, making a few small holes. Sun Minrui frowned at the sight.
“Asta’s coming to China must be a big move, perhaps a significant investment. This is a rare opportunity for City A,” Sun Minrui muttered to himself. “It would be great if we could secure a few projects.” “
Hmph, you’re still trying to secure a few projects? “
So many high-end companies in City A are drooling over this piece of juicy meat. Changsheng Real Estate can only compete locally, but with so many competitors swooping in to grab this juicy piece of meat, they’d probably be knocked out in the first round.
I nudged Xiao Xuewu’s elbow. “Hey, do you think Asta will be handsome?”
“He should be.” Xiao Xuewu raised her eyelids to glance at me, taking a sip of white tea. A few glistening beads of water stained her lips, making them look particularly round and plump.
“Ah,” I immediately became energetic, as if I had been injected with chicken bl00d, “Why doesn’t he show up? When can he be interviewed?”
Xiao Xuewu put down the teacup and smiled lightly, “Xianyu, do you like Asta very much?”
“Of course I like him, of course I like him, he is a rich president.”
“Maybe he is an old man?”
I rolled my eyes, “He must be a handsome old man.”
Xiao Xuewu smiled lightly and said nothing more.
After lunch and a movie in the afternoon ,
Sun Minrui invited us to a bar. Xiao Xuewu said she was tired and wanted to go home, so Sun Minrui servilely dropped her off back at the apartment.
Of course, I couldn’t go alone with him, so I headed home too.
I asked him to drop me off at the entrance to HKUST, then headed back to the bus stop to catch a bus to Hejing Community on Zhaowen Street in Wankang District.
The bus took forty minutes to arrive, and after walking the three hundred meters to the community entrance, I squinted at a high-altitude woman leaning against a streetlight near the security office, playing on her phone.
She was wearing a long bohemian dress, slippers, her hair casually tied up, and she was concentrating on her phone, something unknown, a sly grin on her face.
“Qi Niuxi!” I called out.
The man suddenly raised his head, raised an eyebrow, and glared at me fiercely: “Who did you learn that from?”
I puffed out my chest, undeterred: “Your ex-lover.”
“Huh,” Qi Xi scoffed. “Wei Ling, right?”
I nodded.
She put her arm around my shoulders, swiping her phone while leading me to another street, “Call Master Xi.”
I ignored her, “Where are you going?”
She pointed ahead, “To see your new store. The decoration is almost done.”
“Really?!”
“Yeah, I’m watching you every day.”
I jumped up and grabbed her arm, resisting the urge to kiss her, and howled, “Master Xi, you’re so nice!”
Qi Xi stared at the phone without even glancing at me, “Where were you today? Where did you take the photo of Goose Neck?”
