I Am The Third Party (GL) - Chapter 14
No answer.
I knew she wouldn’t respond in this situation.
But what could I do? My current role was essentially her babysitter, and I had no right to ask unnecessary questions. Even the simplest expressions of concern seemed false and contrived.
I tried to relax, breathing evenly.
I felt helpless.
Qi Xi lay silent beside me, and I sensed she was distressed.
I didn’t want to linger here, playing the silent game.
I felt awkward, and a sense of futility and ridiculousness urged me to leave the bedroom and do my own thing.
I slept in the master bedroom, and Qi Xi was lying here, so where should I go to rest? The guest room?
I sneered inwardly.
She didn’t want me in that book-filled room. Every night when I went in to rest, she would shut the door tightly, like an animal declaring its territory, refusing any intrusion.
The only place left for me to sleep was the sofa.
Of course, I could go back home.
I didn’t have to live here every day. It was my choice. It was
my freedom to worry about Qi Xi, it was my freedom to stay with him, and it was also my freedom to sleep on the sofa and enjoy the cold breeze.
I’d go, take a shower, sleep on the sofa, and enjoy my freedom.
“It’s such a beautiful day today, and the scenery is beautiful everywhere…” I hummed a tune softly, kicking my legs to stand, but suddenly my waist tightened, and my body was pulled backward, slamming onto the bed.
Sister Qi Xi, who had just been lying in bed, suddenly revived and rolled over me, her hands by my ears. Her
long hair fell down and spread across my chest. Her narrow eyes stared at me in the darkness, unblinking.
The words “lurking and hunting” quickly flashed through my mind, and then the image of the jungle at dusk emerged.
The evening breeze stirred the grass, revealing a deep leopard’s eye in the depths, dangerous yet incredibly beautiful…
“Leaving?” she asked, her voice hoarse.
My heart ached. What happened to her?
When I saw her this afternoon… wasn’t she fine?
She was with Yan Sinan, so she should be happy, right?
I thought she would come back happy, and if she was in the mood, maybe even tease me a little.
I wanted to show off to her the awesome leather jacket that the unknown chairman gave me.
“Ah——”
Hiss… It hurts so much!
“Qi Xi, you are born in the year of the dog, why are you biting me?”
I kicked him, but missed.
Qi Xi rolled over to my side, pushed me back when I wanted to stand up, and bit me hard again at the junction of my neck and shoulder.
Oh sh1t, my flesh is very delicate, even Ah Huang raised by my grandma has never bitten me!
“Qi Xi, I’m warning you, although I am now living under someone else’s roof and being exploited by you, I am just a nanny who cooks, but——” I patted her head, trying to find the feel of shooting a basketball in high school, “Nans also have human rights! You can’t bite me like this, even Ah Huang raised by my grandma has never bitten me, why do you bite me!”
The furry head in my hand tilted its head up slightly, and asked in confusion, “Who is Ah Huang? A man? Why did he bite you?”
Oh sh1t, what an idiot.
I slapped her face away. “Ah, it’s a male, a Chinese native dog!”
Hmm… I looked at her, thought for a moment, and added, “Better than you.”
I heard the Simmons mattress creak beneath me, and the weight pressed down on me again.
“Hey, hey, good women don’t fight with women! I have human rights! You can’t hit me!”
Huh?
I felt a warmth in front of me, a moist, hot breath on my face, and a relieved sigh drifted into my ear. “Little fairy, you’re so funny.”
I wanted to rub my nose with my hand, but Qi Xi was on top of me, holding me tightly, her hands clamped tightly, unable to move.
“Ha, ha ha,” I laughed dryly. “I think I’m funny too, ha ha, um—um—”
Qi Xi covered my mouth with his hand. “Don’t laugh, you’re so silly.”
I immediately shut my mouth and rolled my eyes. “You thought I was going to laugh like a fool? “
Qi Xi let go and lay down beside me, his hands on the pillow, his head resting on his arms.
Free again, I breathed in air, thinking that this person’s height and weight were just intimidating.
“The more I care about something, the more I want to hold on tighter. Is that wrong?”
I was just about to sneak out to shower, but before my mental escape could begin, Qi Xi’s sudden question arrested me and I was taken back to the prison for execution.
“Huh…” I patted my thigh, making a crisp sound. “Maybe. You want to hold on tight, and some people don’t. Those who want to hold on tight are right, and those who don’t are wrong.”
“Going to jail because you’re afraid of leaving, is that perverted?”
Holy crap, even some kind of detention play?
Ugh, I shuddered. This is terrifying.
I should pat or rub, rubbing my legs repeatedly, “Pervert, such a pervert. Meeting another pervert who’s afraid of being left and willing to be locked up, two perverts together are even more perverted. Tsk, what a perverted happiness.”
“I–“
“Uncle Qi, can you let me take a shower first? I’ve been traveling all day and my eyelids are cramping. Please spare me and let me take a shower and go to bed.”
I knelt on the floor, clinging to the edge of the bed to worship her, looking up at her, clasping my hands together and then bowing my head, “Please.”
Qi Xi turned sideways, keeping his eyes open and silent for a few seconds, then turned his back to me, “Get out.”
“Thank you, Master Xi!”
I shouted exaggeratedly, imitating the tone of the eunuchs announcing the emperor’s departure from court in ancient costume TV dramas. I groped in the dark, found some clothes, grabbed a quilt, and crawled out of the master bedroom.
When taking a shower, you have to practice the magical skill of having all distracting thoughts washed away by water.
Don’t look at anything indecent, don’t listen to anything indecent, don’t think anything indecent.
No matter what I saw, heard, or thought, it doesn’t count, so what?
What if I saw her kissing her fiancée?
What if I heard her asking me questions? What
if I missed her, wanted to hold her, wanted to kiss her, wanted to cry to her? What if
I saw her lost look, heard her hoarse voice, and was so heartbroken that her legs trembled as she stood up?
I raised my face to the showerhead.
The transparent liquid exploded on my face like flowers with broken petals, leaping, splashing, and turning to ashes.
In the depressions of the tiles, the accumulated water swirled into the sewer, making a gurgling sound.
I stared at it, my mind gradually blanking.
What am I doing?
I dully wiped the mist off the mirror and asked myself.
The water kept flowing, splashing… splashing…
I curled up on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, my head buried in the covers to keep me warm. The master bedroom door slowly opened, and
I heard Qi Xi’s footsteps.
Each step was gentle and steady, finally settling beside the coffee table.
I slid deeper into the blankets and closed my eyes.
“Little fairy,”
she called.
I feigned sleep and ignored her.
“Come in and sleep,” I
continued to pretend.
“Ah—” she sighed, tiptoeing over to me and carrying me, blanket and blanket, to the master bedroom bed, where she sat for a long moment.
When she stood up, I thought she was finally leaving, but she bent down, caressing my eyes and whispering softly, “Little fairy, if you love me, will you give your body to me?”
My throat burned.
My cerebral cortex was on fire.
I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, holding on until her footsteps faded.
The door slammed shut, and salty liquid dripped from the corners of my eyes, scalding hot.
That night I dreamed of a plane with a broken hang glider, plummeting into the Pacific Ocean, exploding into a string of broken petals and calyxes.
