I Am The Third Party (GL) - Chapter 36
There’s wind.
I free one hand and reach under the quilt, spreading my fingers to feel the subtle movement of air.
Cool air slips in through the small opening in the window, carrying the delicate scent of morning grass and dew.
Qi Xi stirs in my arms, letting out a soft moan.
I gently comb her hair with my fingers, and her arm tightens around my waist, comforted.
Is she awake?
I tilt my head to look out the window. The curtains are parted by the sneaking breeze.
A branch covered in new leaves catches my eye: it’s the bougainvillea flowers growing on the balcony of our neighbor next door.
Spring has arrived.
Gently, I pry Qi Xi’s hands free from my grasp, place them under the quilt, and tuck in the corners.
I look down with a helpless smile, glancing at the ambiguous red marks all over my body in the dressing mirror, then walk into the bathroom, naked.
That day at the VR Hotel, she said I couldn’t repay her. I was really angry, and burst out laughing.
Then let’s grow some meat, I said.
At first, she waited for me, fuming, her anger flaming, ready to eat me.
She dragged me home and threw me on the bed for a bit, but she didn’t go any further.
I felt exhausted and didn’t want to continue living like this. But every time I asked to leave, Qi Xi wouldn’t let me go. I had no choice but to patiently compromise and say, “Okay, I’ll stay.
” One day, Qi Xi suddenly asked me, “Did anyone say I was taking advantage of you?”
I smiled dejectedly, “No.”
Her expression shifted slightly, and she turned to me seriously and said, “Little fairy, have you ever heard me say I like Yan Sinan?”
She told me they knew each other for a long time, grew up together, and were engaged. Yan Sinan had broken a leg to save her, and she said she’d never repay Yan Sinan for his kindness.
She never told me she liked Yan Sinan.
So what?
“Little fairy,” Qi Xi said, grabbing my hand, his voice calm and powerful, “I think I might like you.”
These were the words I’d only dreamed of hearing.
I’ve imagined countless times that if Qi Xi told me she liked me, I’d be moved to tears, my heart overflowing with joy.
But when I actually heard those words, I felt strangely calm.
Perhaps it’s because everything has an expiration date.
My wait for Qi Xi to like me also has an expiration date. Now that it’s past that time, no matter how many sweet words she says, I can only smile faintly.
Or maybe it’s because I know my position is not honorable—between Qi Xi and Yan Sinan, what am I if not the third party?
“How many people have you said you like me?” I turned and asked her.
She looked at me intently, answering word by word, “Only you.”
I nodded and hugged her, “Thank you.”
———————
Qi Xi has been very busy these past few months, and I often haven’t seen her.
The house suddenly felt empty, as if I were back to the days before the Lunar New Year when I gave her the earrings and she left.
Sometimes Qi Xi would come back with wounds on her body. After they healed, the new flesh on her skin was white, with stripes like tiger markings.
At first, I would ask her a few questions about why she got hurt, and she would just answer me casually. Later, after so many times, I stopped asking, but I felt so distressed every time I helped her change the bandage.
She often received calls in the middle of the night. I would lie in bed, listening to her pacing back and forth outside the door, sighing from time to time, and I felt bad.
It was raining today, and there were not many customers in the store. I closed the door early and went home, but I didn’t expect Qi Xi to be there.
I took off my coat and wiped my hair with a towel, “You’re back so early?”
“Yeah, I missed you.” She came over to help me wipe my hair.
“It looks like autumn is coming again, and we’ve known each other for almost a year.”
Qi Xi smiled, “Yes.”
I went into the kitchen, got my scarf and put it on, then opened the refrigerator, “Want to eat fish?”
She said yes.
Qi Xi was in a particularly good mood tonight, and he opened a bottle of red wine to drink with me, pinching his fingers from time to time and looking out the window.
I drank a little, looked at her slightly flushed cheeks, and asked, “Qi Xi, why are you so happy today?”
She stood up, reached across the table, and kissed me. “Of course I’m happy with you here.”
I rubbed her palm and said angrily, “Don’t talk nonsense to me. I’m asking you.”
Qi Xi touched the back of my hand, his lips caressing my forehead. “I set a trap for Qi Xi. He won’t survive tomorrow.”
“Really? As long as you’re okay.”
She opened her hand and stepped back. “Of course, of course I’ll be fine. I’ve been preparing for this day for so long. Qi Xi is finished.”
She smiled, her eyes narrowing, a cocky smile on her lips, like a winner who had won a big bet.
I said the same thing again, pale as a champ, “As long as you’re okay.”
Fish is white meat, and it doesn’t go well with red wine.
I frowned, put the cork in the bottle, picked up Qi Xi’s glass, and poured the remaining wine into my quilt.
She grasped my five fingers, her eyes fixed on me, the same gaze a leopard uses to spot its prey. “Little fairy, let’s celebrate tonight.”
Her gaze gave me a slight shiver, a vague sense of unease, a bad feeling, but I nodded obediently.
After dinner, I watched some TV and got up to shower.
“Shower?” Qi Xi asked.
“Yes,” I said, rummaging through the bedroom for my pajamas.
When I reached the bathroom, clutching my pajamas and towel, I found Qi Xi already standing there, naked.
I blinked, clothes in hand, and started to leave. “You want to shower too? Go first.”
Unexpectedly, Qi Xi grabbed me in, slammed the door shut, and turned on the overhead shower, showering us both with warm water.
“Let’s shower together,” she said.
She held me close to her, unbuttoning my shirt one by one, her hands slid inside to unbutton my bra.
Her fingertips brushed against my br3ast, and I gasped, collapsing into her wet embrace.
I kept trembling in her hands, my face flushed, and I couldn’t help but let out small moans.
Qi Xi’s gentle, hoarse, and lustful murmur came from behind my ear, “Give it to me, little fairy.” My
chest felt hot, tears welled up in my eyes, and I nodded gently, “Yes.”
Qi Xi’s nails were cut very short, her fingers were very long, and she wore finger gloves soaked in lubricant.
When the fourth finger came in, I bled and it hurt.
I hugged Qi Xi tightly and bit her neck, “Qi Xi, it hurts.”
She gently stroked my back and comforted me, “Be good, it will be all right soon.”
I gasped for air, feeling her movements quicken, making it impossible to breathe.
Finally, my legs gave out, and I couldn’t walk on my own. Qi Xi wrapped me in a towel and carried me to bed.
My head was groggy, and all I wanted was a good night’s sleep.
Glancing over the bedside table, I saw a sealed file bag.
“What’s that?” I asked drowsily, leaning against Qi Xi’s chest.
She took the bag and pulled out the documents inside, a long string of data.
“These are all the records of Qi Xi’s transactions at the bank over the years. If they were exposed, it would be enough to kill him hundreds of times. Tomorrow morning at ten o’clock, Qi Xi has a gold transaction at the waste feed mill next to his villa in the western suburbs. I’m going to blow his head off then.” “
Hmm…” I closed my heavy eyelids, finally succumbing to the exhaustion and falling into a deep sleep.
—————-
The next morning, Qi Xi left early, and she, as was unusual, prepared breakfast for me.
Microwaved Taoli toast and a microwaved box of Yili.
Okay, I don’t want to say anything…
After eating Qi Xi’s “love breakfast,” I went to work and unexpectedly ran into someone I hadn’t seen in a while at the cafe entrance—Sun Minrui.
I was startled at first, then greeted him with a smile. “Brother Minrui, long time no see. What brings you here?”
Sun Minrui was unusually respectful. “Xianyu, I need a favor.”
I was puzzled. “What favor?”
“Are you acquainted with the designer, Ms. Yan Sinan?” They…
I was startled. “How do you know?”
He smiled and replied, “Xiao Li mentioned her once.”
“Yes, I know her. Why?”
Sun Minrui rubbed his hands. “Well, our branch is going to make some clothes, and we’d like Ms. Sinan to check them out. They asked me to go and test the waters first. Xianyu, can you introduce me to her?”
“This…” I hesitated.
“Xianyu, look, we grew up together, and I’ve never asked you for anything…”
Well, forget it.
I’ll just do him a favor. Besides, it’s not a big deal.
“Okay.”
I followed him out the door and took out my phone to call Yan Sinan.
—————-
I followed Sun Minrui to Yan Sinan’s house, drank a glass of water and passed out.
I had imagined what Wei Ling would do to me, but I didn’t expect that it would be Yan Sinan in the end.
When I woke up, I found myself in a dilapidated factory.
Broken machines were everywhere, and dusty woven bags were scattered around.
I slowly stood up, holding the wall. I felt a dull pain between my legs and my head felt heavy.
Suddenly, I heard a bang, and then a few drops of hot, wet, scarlet liquid splashed on me.
I turned around to look, covering my mouth to prevent myself from screaming, and stared in amazement at Yan Sinan, who was shot through the chest.
The bl00d dyed her snow-white cheongsam red, as charming as a rose.
Several strong beams of light shone in, and several burly men broke in.
A familiar figure appeared before me.
It was Qi Xi.
She staggered in with two men holding her arms.
Qi Xi slowly raised his head, his face covered with bl00d.
When she saw me, she couldn’t help but open her mouth, and her pupils gradually dilated.
The tall man with a sinister look slowly walked up to me, his leather shoes making a crisp sound on the ground.
Qi Chen lifted my chin and kissed the corner of my mouth lightly, then turned to look at Qi Xi and raised the corner of his mouth, “Xiao Yu, you did a good job.”
My mind suddenly exploded.
This man was crazy, what was he talking about?
Qi Chen pried open my stiff fingers that were holding Yan Sinan, and let Yan Sinan’s body, with residual heat, fall to the dirty concrete floor, “Why bother to care about her, she’s half dead.”
I didn’t have the energy to care about Qi Chen at all. I turned my head abruptly to look at Qi Xi, my throat rolling.
Qi Xi, don’t listen to his nonsense, I have nothing to do with him, I –
her face was pale, she looked at me in disbelief, half-open her mouth and shook her head slightly.
I hurriedly opened my mouth, “Qi Xi, no -“
“Hands up and don’t move!”
Another group of people walked in from outside the door. I looked up and saw it was Wang Zi.
Seeing that the situation was not good, Qi Chen raised his pistol and said, “Let’s go.”
He pulled my arm, but I didn’t move and stared at Qi Xi blankly.
Qi Chen whispered, “Let’s go.”
I murmured to Qi Xi, “Qi Xi, I didn’t…” Qi Xi walked forward with
a sullen
face. Qi Chen held my arm and ran back.
I saw Qi Xi slowly walk to Yan Sinan, slowly squatted down, and hugged her painfully.
I was pulled back by Qi Chen, crying and shaking my head.
Qi Xi lowered his head, his shoulders trembled, and suddenly stood up and stretched out his hand, “Wangzi, give me the gun.”
I opened my eyes wide in horror and shook my head desperately.
She raised the gun and pointed it at my shoulder.
“Qiao Xianyu, I am very disappointed in you.”
My body swayed, and my shoulder felt a sharp pain. I felt like my bones were broken and a bloody flower burst out.
A wave of dizziness came over me, and I fell into a deep darkness…
