I Became the Butler of the Seventh Princess, Who’s Regressing Into a Child - Episode 12
Episode 12
My level still hasn’t increased.
I have some leftover status points, but I’m torn about how to allocate them.
If I were to form a party, I’d want to prioritize supporting my role as an [Enchanter], meaning I’d boost things like magic power and mental strength to cast spells in quick succession.
…But, I don’t have any plans to join a party in the near future.
This game was designed so you can play solo without a party, so it’s probably fine to allocate the points with that in mind.
For now, I haven’t had much trouble with the enemies, so I’ll hold off on spending the status points until things get tougher.
Carefully, I continued deeper into the dungeon.
The further I went, the colder it got, and I could feel a creeping chill seep into my back.
Every time I passed through a dark, narrow passage, I had the sensation that something might be lurking around. But I kept my focus sharp and pressed on.
After advancing a bit, two more Shadow Wolves appeared.
…This time, I should try out my job abilities.
As an [Enchanter], the biggest advantage is the ability to infinitely enhance oneself using combinations of characters.
However, with my limited magic power, I can’t afford any major enhancements.
The more complex the character or stroke count, the more magic it consumes.
For now, I’ll stick with the low-cost enhancement I used in the game to strengthen my body.
I focused magic into my right hand and began writing a character in the air.
By writing “カソク” (acceleration), I activated the ability [Acceleration], which enhanced my agility.
If I had used the kanji for “加速” (acceleration), the magic cost would’ve been slightly higher. So I had to be mindful of that.
Once [Acceleration] took effect, it felt like an electric current surged through my body. It made me feel much lighter.
“Gau!”
The Shadow Wolves lunged at me, but I easily dodged their attack.
…Yeah, my movements are definitely sharper than before.
Time to attack next.
I could also use magic.
By combining basic characters like “火” (fire) or “水” (water) with attack-related characters, I could cast spells.
For now, I’ll try using the “刃” (blade) of “水” (water). I’m familiar with [Water Blade] from repeatedly using it in the game.
…If you have a certain level of [Enchanter], you can stock characters. And if you stock characters with many strokes you can take them out whenever you want. But at the beginning, you have to write them out every time, which is tiring.
Writing “水刃” (water blade) in the air, a sharp blade of water rushed straight toward one of the Shadow Wolves.
The wolf seemed caught off guard by my ranged attack and failed to dodge, getting sliced by the water blade.
I could combine characters like “追尾” (homing) to add the [Homing] effect. But my current magic capacity wouldn’t be enough for that.
The remaining Shadow Wolf growled in frustration, clearly angered by the loss of its comrade.
Next up, I’ll use [Strength Enhancement]—”ゴー力” (strength).
Using the kanji for “剛力” (strength) would consume more magic due to the stroke count. So I opted for katakana instead.
The wolf pounced, slashing its claws at me.
Drawing strength from deep within, I intercepted its attack with my sword.
The wolf’s entire weight bore down on my blade. But I cut through it with enough force to send it flying.
“Gaaargh!”
The Shadow Wolf let out a dying scream as its body split in two and dissipated like mist.
……Alright, no issues.
Looks like the [Enchanter] abilities work as intended.
……Now, maybe I should try out the [Pampering] skill next.
Just as that thought crossed my mind—
“Kyaaaah!”
A loud scream echoed through the dungeon.
…What was that?
I tilted my head in confusion and looked toward the source of the sound.
There, I saw a massive skeleton over two meters tall.
In front of it were two people trembling in fear, and one more lying on the ground.
Judging by their armor, they weren’t adventurers but knights-in-training.
Wait… those thighs… Is that Anfi?
Anfi is a character known for being an unlucky female knight who often gets caught up in unfortunate events.
This seems like one of those times.
The huge skeleton was a Skeleton Lord, a unique monster.
Unique monsters are rare types of monsters that differ from regular ones.
Each dungeon has a set number of unique monsters that can appear, and one will spawn at low probabilities.
The chances of encountering one are low on the lower floors of dungeons but increase as you move higher up.
These unique monsters often drop rare equipment, which can fetch a high price in the market.
…Because of this, there are times when a hellish marathon begins, targeting low-drop-rate equipment from low-encounter-rate monsters.
The Skeleton Lord is one of those.
Encountering one on the first floor is quite lucky. But it would be difficult for Anfi and the others to win.
As for me…… how about it?
The Skeleton Lord is a tough opponent for my current level. But it’s not an overwhelmingly strong monster.
…If I play my cards right, it might not be impossible, right?
If I manage to get a piece of equipment to drop, that would be incredibly lucky.
It might be worth a shot.
