I Became the Butler of the Seventh Princess, Who’s Regressing Into a Child - Episode 36
Episode 36
I start my training within a dream.
Concentrating on controlling my magical energy as an [Enchanter], I face off against a version of Klaus-san that I’ve created in the dream.
…And then, the battle begins.
Klaus-san moves with his usual swift, relentless strikes. And ultimately, he unleashes his powerful [Celestial Severing Blade] attack on me.
It’s the same attack Klaus-san showed me recently.
I want to reach the level where I can actually beat him in this state.
The force of [Celestial Severing Blade] is overwhelming.
Although there’s no pain in the dream, if I were hit by it in reality, I might not even leave a trace behind.
This kind of training is only possible because it’s in a dream.
Even when I get taken down, I can recreate Klaus-san and resume the training from scratch.
…While battling, casting magic as an [Enchanter], I notice something. The activation of my magic and skills as an [Enchanter] depends on the words I write. Because of this, maintaining a consistent level of magical power is proving more practical as Elena suggested.
By writing the characters while maintaining that level, they instantly transform into magic.
…Although I still haven’t reached a steady state with this technique, once I get used to it, it could be revolutionary.
I might be able to unleash high-power spells and skills in rapid succession, which would be impossible in a game.
But I need to focus on Klaus-san’s attacks.
Klaus-san swings his greatsword, and the sound of the air splitting echoes around us.
Dodging his [Celestial Severing Blade] attack at the last moment, I ready my sword.
“Take this…!”
I close in on him and slash, but Klaus-san blocks it.
He counters, deflecting my blade and swings his own in a swift motion.
I barely manage to parry it, but his power knocks me off balance. And at that instant, Klaus-san’s [Celestial Severing Blade] strikes. It sent my body flying.
……Damn.
He’s really strong.
If only I had some kind of finishing move, I might be able to turn the tables more easily.
As an [Enchanter], I can do almost anything. But I don’t have any real finishing moves.
My battle style is to chip away slowly, wearing down the opponent over time.
……But if I had one powerful move that could stagger the opponent, my whole strategy could change.
During my duel with dream-Klaus-san, Karin appeared out of nowhere. She waved with a smile.
“Rondo-kun, I adjusted the dream a bit. Now you can train for twice as long.”
…Oh, really?
Guess wearing even that underclothes was worth it.
“Thanks, Karin. That’s a big help.”
“Don’t mention it… I’m getting help from you, too.”
Karin licked her lips with a satisfied look on her face.
…….Better not to ask about that.
Anyway, I can now train for twice as long.
I’ll just focus on that fact.
I turn back to Klaus-san and resume the battle… and, yeah, he’s still as strong as ever.
Even so, I’m starting to feel more confident about my magic control during combat.
As I continue the battle, Karin watches with amusement. She suddenly asks,
“Rondo-kun, you seem troubled about something. What’s on your mind?”
“Well… I was just wishing I had some powerful move like Klaus-san.”
“…You mean like that *BOOM* attack, right? Isn’t that something your [Enchanter] skills could emulate? Why not try imitating it?”
“In my case, I guess it could be partly due to my stats, but… compared to the original, my attacks fall short.”
I can indeed do anything, including buffs, debuffs, and offensive magic. But each effect is somewhat weaker than the standard.
That’s the weakness of an [Enchanter].
“Hmm… then how about combining your skills, stacking them all at once for a kind of ‘ultimate’ attack?”
“……Hmm, that might actually work.”
Could something like that be possible?
In the game, you would activate one skill and then another… in a kind of sequence.
So even now, I use my skills in the same way. But if I could somehow stack other skill effects onto [Celestial Severing Blade], for example… it might compensate for the reduced power compared to the original.
For instance, combining [Guard Break] with [Celestial Severing Blade]—breaking through the opponent’s defense first, then landing a finishing move.
It seems worth considering.
First, I decided to try replicating Klaus-san’s [Celestial Severing Blade] exactly as he demonstrated.
I trace the characters for [Celestial Severing Blade] in the air, channeling magic into my sword and swinging it down.
However, the resulting slash was weaker than I expected. It was nowhere near the force of Klaus-san’s original [Celestial Severing Blade].
I tried to recreate Klaus-san’s terrifying technique, but as an [Enchanter], there’s a limit to what I can achieve.
If I only mimic his moves, I’ll just end up as a jack-of-all-trades without real strength.
So instead, I take my time to write out “ガードブレイク天絶刃” (Guard Break Celestial Severing Blade) and apply the combined effect to my sword.
Then, I swing the sword. …A similar shockwave was released, and [Guard Break] should have been triggered as well.
“Did it work?”
“It worked, but… not practical for real combat.”
If I can’t activate techniques quickly, writing this many characters in front of an enemy leaves me too exposed.
Still, the idea itself isn’t bad.
Maybe I should experiment with different combinations.
Becoming stronger as an [Enchanter] is important, but I also need to improve my own sword skills separately.
Once again, I ready my sword and face Klaus-san in the dream.
