I reviewed my status. My level has increased significantly, and my stats are optimized quite well for an attacker. However, that also means I don’t stand a chance if I get hit—but that’s a trade-off I have to accept.
With these stats, I should be able to manage against the monsters in the [Rocky Ruins] for now.
I arrived at the entrance to the [Rocky Ruins] on the eastern side of the town and gazed at its dark gate. A faint magical energy emanated from the entrance. As a precaution, there was a guard stationed at the entrance. A few adventurers were hanging around nearby, seemingly waiting to meet up with others.
Some adventurers were also looking for party members here. I got approached a few times but declined. I then stepped through the gate alone.
Inside, the ruins were just as ancient as I expected. The stone walls, relics of a past era, reflected a faint light from embedded magic stones. It creates an atmosphere of solemnity. A broad hallway stretched out before me, with the scenery repeating itself over and over. Unlike in a game, there’s no visible map here. So I have to be careful not to get lost.
As I pondered this and walked forward, a dense black mist began to gather in front of me. A Stone Golem appeared, its massive body hewn from solid rock. It lumbered toward me with heavy, resounding footsteps that shook the ground.
“Graaaagh!”
The Stone Golem bellowed as if to intimidate me. I quickly readied my sword and activated [Acceleration]. Swiftly closing the gap, I struck at it—but my sword bounced off the rock covering its body. Even though my sword is excellent for its level, it’s clearly not well-suited for this match-up.
The Stone Golem’s fist swung down, but I dodged back to avoid it. If slashing won’t work, then maybe I need to adjust my weapon’s attribute.
Sword-type weapons come with a slashing attribute. But the Stone Golem has a weakness to magic, so changing the sword’s attribute should work. Just like when I fought the Skeleton Lord before, I’ll use my [Enchanter] ability to add the [Magic] attribute.
I immediately inscribe “まほう” (mahou) onto the sword, which takes two attempts to fully enchant. I then add the [Water] attribute, another weakness of the Stone Golem, onto the sword as well. Now, I have a weapon perfectly suited for fighting the Stone Golem.
(Note: Remember this “水” (water) on C12? I ain’t repeating it. And unless you’re retarded, “mahou” is “magic”. “Maou” is “demon lord” or “demon king” in case you misunderstand or mishear because of the somewhat similarity in pronunciation)
Dodging its next attack, I move in and slash at it again. This time, my strike severs the golem’s arm, sending it flying.
“Gra…gaagh!”
The detached arm disintegrates into black mist. The golem, seemingly flustered, swings at me again. But I deflect its attack with my sword. Now, it’s just a matter of finishing it off.
Closing in, I plunge my sword into the golem’s core. With a final groan, its body collapses, shattering into mist and leaving the area silent once more.
After collecting the dropped items, I check my condition.
All seems good. Since the Stone Golem’s movements are slow, as long as I can deal damage, I can handle it pretty easily. Taking a deep breath, I proceed deeper into the ruins.

After a day of leveling up in the [Rocky Ruins], I ended my hunt without any major issues. I reached Level 20, so things are going smoothly.
As I walked back to the mansion, enjoying the city in the evening glow, I spotted Rinyan near the entrance. She was tidying up the front area. She noticed me and gave a slight smile.
“Welcome back, Rondo. Did you go somewhere today?”
“It was my day off, so I went to a dungeon to level up.”
“Leveling up… that doesn’t sound very relaxing.”
“No? I found it pretty relaxing, though.”
To people who see adventuring as work, I guess it doesn’t seem like a day off.
“Did you go in with a party?”
“No, I went solo.”
“Solo… isn’t that dangerous?”
“I actually prefer fighting alone—it’s more relaxing.”
“Not so relaxing, actually.”
She gave me a skeptical look. Well, maybe it’s not entirely without risk.
“For me, it’s comfortable enough. Plus, I was dealing with Stone Golems. They’re slow, so they’re easy to handle.”
“Stone Golems… They’re from the [Rocky Ruins], right?”
“Yeah.”
“…..Being able to tackle that place solo is amazing.”
Rinyan spoke with genuine surprise in her voice. I hadn’t meant to brag, but she seemed genuinely astonished.
“Well, you get used to it. How about you, Rinyan… how’s work? Have you gotten the hang of things?”
“Yeah. Everyone’s really nice… so, it’s going well.”
“That’s good to hear.”
I smiled back at Rinyan, who wore a cheerful expression. At least for now, it seemed that Rinyan wasn’t up to anything strange. It’s probably best to just keep interacting with her as usual without overthinking things.
After chatting briefly with Rinyan, I headed back to my own room.
