I Became the Butler of the Seventh Princess, Who’s Regressing Into a Child - Episode 50
Episode 50
After finishing my training, I returned to the mansion. I decided to check in on Lian, so I headed to her room.
As I approached Lian’s room, I could hear voices from inside. …Is that Elena’s voice?
When I knocked, Elena came to the door right away.
“Rondo-san? What brings you here?”
“…Just came by to see how things are.”
“I see. Please, come in.”
With that, I entered Lian’s room alongside Elena. Inside, Lian was holding a magical tool with a serious expression.
“What are you doing?”
“Oh, big sis. Today, you’re a boy again.”
“…….I’ve always been a boy. So, what are you doing?”
“I’m repairing a magic tool,”
Lian said in her usual gentle, laid-back voice. She said it so casually, but it’s impressive she can do something like that.
“You can repair magical tools?”
“Yes. I was never particularly good at moving around, so I always tinkered with magic tools in my room like this.”
“That’s why… I’ve been asking her to take a look at some old magic tools I was planning to have repaired soon.”
I glanced around and saw a box in the corner filled with what looked like old magical tools. I’m guessing Elena brought them from storage.
“I wanted to do what I can since everyone’s been helping me,”
Lian said with a gentle smile. She’s supposed to be Rinyan’s younger sister, but her smile somehow feels more mature. Probably because of her calm, almost accepting aura. It’s like she’s ready to face death anytime… a look that gave me a slight feeling of sadness.
“I see. So, Lian, do you have the job of a [Magic Tool Artisan]?”
“Yes, I do! I’m good at making and repairing things. I’m also skilled in [Presence Detection] and [Telepathy].”
“Is that so?”
“Yes. With [Presence Detection], I always know where my sister is. That’s why I knew immediately when she arrived that day.”
“…I-I see.”
“Right now, I’m training to use my [Telepathy] skill. If I get better at it, I’ll be able to be with her anytime, anywhere.”
Lian giggled happily. …It’s a little creepy, but I decided not to mention it. Anyway, Lian doesn’t seem to have any big complaints about her current life… looks like she’s doing fine.
—
Night.
Nearby the mansion, Klaus let out a small sigh.
A faint scream and a familiar magical energy.
Klaus, sensing this, found a man standing alone.
“…I thought I sensed something familiar, so I came here… it’s you.”
The man standing before him was Gushinus, Klaus’ former disciple. Gushinus wore a sinister grin as he plunged a sword into a civilian.
“Well, well. Isn’t it my old master? Long time no see.”
“……Gushinus. So you’re still alive.”
“Yeah. Although, thanks to a certain someone, one of my arms is now useless.”
Gushinus’ left arm was indeed missing. But he casually swung the sword in his right hand.
Gushinus chuckled softly and looked at Klaus.
“Old man, the arm you cut off still aches, you know.”
“…Hmph. Then savor that pain as much as you want. —Right here, I’ll kill you.”
“Keh keh, do you think you can?”
“Of course. At your current level, you’re nothing.”
In the next instant, Klaus closed the distance between them. But Gushinus swiftly drew his sword, blocking Klaus’ strike.
Their strength was evenly matched. But as a tentacle-like appendage emerged from Gushinus’ sword, it pierced his right wrist.
In that moment, Gushinus’ power surged, and Klaus was sent flying back.
“Hmm?”
“This here is the cursed blade, Crimson Lotus Demon Blade! It feeds on its wielder’s life energy to amplify their abilities!”
Gushinus explained with delight. And in the next instant, his form vanished.
Klaus quickly turned, intercepting the blow Gushinus brought down from behind.
“…Ugh!”
“Getting old, aren’t ya, old man? Your strength’s gone soft, huh?”
With a mocking shout, Gushinus struck. He knocked Klaus back forcefully. Klaus rolled across the ground but managed to push himself up—only for Gushinus’ sword to pierce his body.
“…Gahh!”
“I became your apprentice because I wanted to kill people, you know. But you saw through me and gave me a brutal punishment. It hurt like hell…”
At those crazed words, Klaus grasped the blade embedded in him tightly.
“…It’s my responsibility for having trained someone like you. Seems I need to teach you a lesson… one more time.”
“Hah… you think you can in this situation? You can’t stop me; you’re nothing to me now.”
“—You’re the one who’s too careless.”
In the next moment, Klaus spoke.
“—[The Jet Black Blade of the End].”
With a swift slash of his sword, a tremendous shockwave blasted Gushinus back. Klaus pressed a hand to his wound as he fixed his gaze on Gushinus.
But—
“…Ah, damn, that hurt.”
Gushinus’ right arm had been blown off. Yet, the cursed blade stretched toward the stump, reattaching the severed arm as if sewing it back together.
“…What a monster.”
“…That’s my line, old man. After getting my hands on this cursed sword, I never thought I’d take this much damage.“
Klaus staggered to his feet and readied his sword once more. But Gushinus clicked his tongue in annoyance.
“Oh yeah, that’s right. Came here to kidnap the princess, didn’t I? If this gets any flashier, it’s only gonna make it harder.”
With a smirk, Gushinus turned and began walking toward the mansion.
“Wait! Are you running away?!”
Klaus tried to provoke him to halt. but Gushinus ignored him. He strolled away casually.
“I’ll come back and kill you when you’re even weaker, old man. You’re only gonna keep fading from here on out.”
“Urgh…!”
Klaus tried to give chase, but his strength had reached its limit after taking Gushinus’ last hit. With his vision blurring, all he could do was glare after the retreating Gushinus.
