I Became the Female Lead’s Current Obsession - Chapter 24
Jiang Qing’s breath brushed lightly across Hou Xue’s face—ticklish and fragrant, like a blend of lemon and fresh grass. Not overwhelming, just a gentle scent that evoked the feeling of standing in a forest at night.
There were many moments when Hou Xue wanted to wrap her arms around Jiang Qing’s waist, pressing herself against the girl’s back, whose outline blurred in the wind.
But until the electric scooter finally came to a stop, everything remained just a thought.
Jiang Qing parked the scooter and took Hou Xue’s hand. When Jiang Qing wanted to hold hands, they rarely let go.
Yet she didn’t move forward right away. Instead, she paused and checked her phone with one hand.
Standing across from her, Hou Xue sighed, a little exasperated. “Weren’t you doing magic? Why the outside help?”
“It’s a large-scale trick,” Jiang Qing said smugly as she tucked her phone away. “It covers a great distance and involves many people.”
“But the audience?” she added, smiling. “There’s only one—my Teacher Hou.”
“How lucky I am,” Hou Xue replied.
“You’re good at talking, but you haven’t seen the best part yet.” Jiang Qing started walking toward the villa.
When they reached the stairs, Jiang Qing stopped and turned to her. “I’ll need you to close your eyes again.”
Hou Xue obeyed.
“Hold my hand tight, okay? Don’t trip.” With her vision blocked, Jiang Qing’s voice sounded even clearer, as though it were right next to her ear.
Hou Xue felt a cloth being tied over her eyes and instinctively flinched.
“Relax—it’ll only be a moment. Think of it as… a bit of ceremony.”
Blinding Hou Xue was one of Jiang Qing’s mischievous whims. She wasn’t sure where this sudden urge came from. Sensing Hou Xue might resist, she’d taken the initiative to soothe her first. And surprisingly, the person in front of her stayed silent, allowing Jiang Qing to do as she pleased.
After securing the blindfold, Jiang Qing stood by Hou Xue’s side, unable to look away.
She’d covered those calm, clear eyes—eyes that seemed to see through everything. Now, nothing she did could be read.
Hou Xue was letting her do whatever she wanted. If Jiang Qing made a bolder move now… would Hou Xue still go along with it?
Her throat bobbed with a swallow.
“You’re really beautiful,” she murmured, so softly that Hou Xue almost thought she imagined it.
“Beautiful?” Hou Xue reached toward the sound—only to accidentally touch something soft.
She paused, frowning. That wasn’t a cheek.
Jiang Qing took a step back, grabbing her earlobe with her left hand, too flustered to say anything.
“What did I just touch?” Hou Xue asked innocently, as if she didn’t already know. Her tone left no room for scolding.
You’re the one who blindfolded me, after all.
Jiang Qing felt guilty and couldn’t say much. “…Nothing. Let’s go upstairs.”
She gave Hou Xue’s hand a gentle squeeze. Hou Xue nodded.
At Hou Xue’s bedroom door, Jiang Qing opened it with her right hand and removed the blindfold with her left.
“All right. Open your eyes,” she said.
Hou Xue had imagined many possibilities, played out countless scenarios in her head.
But she had never expected this.
What was Jiang Qing trying to say?
Her bl00d seemed to turn cold.
“You don’t like it?” Jiang Qing asked, visibly nervous at Hou Xue’s silence.
Hou Xue trembled to her fingertips. She took a deep breath. “Jiang Qing, why are you always so good to me?”
Jiang Qing froze, then looked away. “Because you’re my little sister… Isn’t it normal to give gifts?”
“Miss Jiang, we’re not related. We don’t even have a legal bond. You’re under no obligation.” Hou Xue gripped her wrist tightly. “And… what do you know? About me?”
Her eyes were still calm, but Jiang Qing felt this was the most emotionally charged she’d ever seen Hou Xue.
She was holding something back. Her trembling hands made Jiang Qing anxious.
Her wrist hurt under the pressure, and confusion settled in.
What was happening? Hou Xue wasn’t acting like herself.
This wasn’t how Jiang Qing thought it would go.
Suddenly, she found herself pinned against the computer desk by Hou Xue, too stunned to respond.
“…I do think of you as a sister,” she said, unable to meet her gaze. “You don’t have to accept the gift, but please don’t misinterpret me.”
Sister? Just a sister?
Hou Xue’s eyes darkened. She wasn’t calm. Her face was expressionless, but turmoil surged inside.
Jiang Qing’s pale neck swayed before her—graceful curves, a delicate Adam’s apple, refined collarbones. Long, slender, and enticing. Hou Xue’s favorite.
Jiang Qing said something else, but Hou Xue didn’t hear it. All she could see was that Adam’s apple gently moving.
She lowered her head and clamped her hand around the back of Jiang Qing’s neck.
Every cell in her body screamed.
Jiang Qing was right here. In her room. How could she hold back?
“Hey—” Jiang Qing sensed something wrong and tried to push her away, but she was pinned down. There wasn’t even time to resist.
Hou Xue sank her teeth into Jiang Qing’s neck.
No one could tell if, in the second before, she intended to bite—or do something more.
She could’ve held back. But she needed release.
Bl00d, tinged with iron, mingled with Jiang Qing’s fresh scent between her lips.
Jiang Qing, like a deer fallen in the grass and bitten by a wolf, made a sound that nearly drove Hou Xue mad.
It was a girl’s most vulnerable spot.
Still not enough. She wanted more.
Jiang Qing let out a muffled cry. The hand on Hou Xue’s shoulder clenched involuntarily—then quickly loosened, afraid of hurting the younger girl.
Pathetic. Someone like her deserved to be crushed, not worried over.
“Sh1t.” It hurt. Definitely bleeding.
Jiang Qing cursed for once, the word escaping with a breathy hiss—but she never said “ouch.”
The kid didn’t even hesitate, biting down like she didn’t care if it hurt.
Meanwhile Jiang Qing, always full of hesitation, couldn’t even bring herself to push back.
When Hou Xue finally let go, Jiang Qing shoved her off, stunned. “Are you a dog or something?!”
She stumbled, hand clutching her neck, glaring.
Her heart raced.
If she wasn’t mistaken, that crazy little beast didn’t just bite—she licked the wound before letting go.
What the hell? Weren’t they just exchanging gifts a minute ago?
“Mm.” Hou Xue didn’t deny it. She stared at the spot she’d bitten, as if trying to see through Jiang Qing’s hand.
No guilt on her face, but her voice was faux-gentle. “Does it hurt?”
“…What do you think? Wanna try biting me and see?”
Jiang Qing gasped from the pain. Her anger evaporated again. Any thoughts of hitting the kid had vanished.
It really hurt—pulsing in waves. Torturous.
She didn’t hold back at all.
So much for unconditional tolerance.
Jiang Qing’s thoughts drifted—hollow and directionless.
“Heh.” Hou Xue gave a mocking laugh. “Then remember this, Miss Jiang. That’s something I left for you.”
Jiang Qing was completely confused. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
She paused. “You really don’t like it?” She tapped the desk.
The tapping echoed in the room, but Hou Xue ignored her.
“I’m talking to you.” Jiang Qing nudged her leg against Hou Xue’s.
Hou Xue grabbed her thigh, voice low. “Don’t rub against me.”
Jiang Qing laughed in disbelief, teeth clenched. “You’ve lost your damn mind.”
“Yes,” Hou Xue said, her eyes drifting to the bite mark. Her voice was hoarse. “I’m going insane.”
Jiang Qing hadn’t relaxed her brow once.
So, she really admitted it. Definitely lost her mind.
“You’re driving me insane,” Hou Xue added.
As if that needed saying—pure chaos, out of nowhere.
“…Just say what you mean. What’s with the cryptic riddles?” Jiang Qing snapped, overwhelmed by the emotional rollercoaster.
“You don’t need to know,” Hou Xue replied.
Jiang Qing: “…” That one hit deep. She was speechless.
She still had no idea what had set Hou Xue off. She was probably angry—but looked more like she was sick.
“Fine, do whatever you want.” Jiang Qing clutched her neck and tried to leave. “If you don’t like it, I’ll take it away right now.”
Hou Xue stopped her.
“Not even that?” Jiang Qing was losing her patience.
“You gave it to me. There’s no taking it back,” Hou Xue said firmly.
“But you don’t even like it. Why leave it here to bother you?”
“Who said I didn’t like it?” Hou Xue raised a brow. “I like it a lot. I told you—if it’s from you, I’ll like it.”
When she said that before, she wasn’t acting like this.
Jiang Qing massaged her temples. “Fine, fine. Whatever you say.” She sighed. “Let me go. I need to calm down.”
Her head was spinning. The pain in her neck was the only thing grounding her.
Hou Xue froze.
“You’re giving up on me too?” she whispered.
“…What?” Jiang Qing was caught off guard. “You…”
She couldn’t even tell what emotion Hou Xue was in anymore. “Can you just give me a minute?”
Hou Xue took a step back.
Jiang Qing stepped forward.
“Let’s both cool off.” She closed the door and left the room.
Hou Xue shut her eyes.
Did I ruin everything?
Definitely.
She couldn’t hold back—not her face, not her feelings.
She never should’ve crossed that line. She knew she wasn’t normal. And now, she’d scared Jiang Qing.
She’d always known this day would come. She just didn’t expect it so soon.
Everything would need to be reset—but would she get another chance?
Pale and in pain, Hou Xue went to the bathroom, feeling like she might vomit up her very organs.
Afterward, she sat at her computer desk.
It required a password.
She frowned. Instead of guessing, she bypassed it directly.
As soon as it opened, a slideshow began.
“Xue Xue”
Her grip on the mouse tightened.
“This is a gift for you.”
“Now look at the keyboard and mouse.”
She flipped them over and saw two cursive letters engraved—“HX”.
Her initials.
Her heart clenched. Breathing became difficult.
“Hahaha, are you happy?”
“You must be.”
“I’m happy too.”
Hou Xue forced a smile. But it looked painful.
“See?”
“Good night.”
“See you tomorrow, Xue Xue.”
It was eleven p.m.
And Hou Xue wasn’t sure… whether they’d still have a “tomorrow.”
