I Can't Fall for My Own Wife Again After Reincarnation, Right? (GL) - Chapter 14
Hu Mei bent over and looked at Xu Yingran, who was lying on the table and already looking a little dazed. She said helplessly, “Oh dear, how did this child end up like this from drinking?”
Fu Qiao’s father, Fu Jun, was also standing nearby, laughing.
“She really is a young girl—she can’t handle alcohol,” Fu Jun said cheerfully. “Just one bottle of beer and she’s drunk?”
Although Yao Jin had only drunk half a bottle of beer, her cheeks were already red. She sat stiffly on a small stool, her back straight as a board.
Fu Qiao had found Yao Jin’s driver from the hotel and said to him, “I’m really sorry, can you take her home?”
The driver was a bit flustered seeing his young miss like this. He asked in confusion, “How much did she drink? White liquor? Red?”
Fu Jun took a drag from his cigarette and chuckled, “Beer.”
The driver: “……”
Hu Mei smiled bitterly and said helplessly, “This kid, really. She has school tomorrow too. How did she end up like this?”
Fu Jun replied, “No one expected that just two bottles of beer would get someone this drunk.”
“Stop saying useless things,” Hu Mei scolded him. “Go help her.”
Watching the driver and Fu Jun help Yao Jin out of the alley, Fu Qiao finally looked down at Xu Yingran, who had fallen asleep on the table, and sighed with a frown.
“Mom, I’ll help her get home,” Fu Qiao said to Hu Mei. “You still need to watch the stall, so don’t come.”
“Can you handle it on your own?”
“Yes.”
Fu Qiao carried both of their backpacks, then shook Xu Yingran to wake her up.
“Wake up, Xu Yingran.”
After a while, Xu Yingran slowly opened her eyes, looking blankly at Fu Qiao in front of her.
She stared in a daze and said, “…Wife, why are you here?”
Fu Qiao: “……”
By now, she wasn’t even surprised anymore. In the past few days, Xu Yingran had been calling her “wife” every now and then.
“Can you walk on your own?” Fu Qiao looked down at her. “I can’t carry you. If you can’t walk, I’ll go get your parents.”
Hearing that, Xu Yingran wobbled to her feet. Fu Qiao, afraid she’d fall, quickly held her up.
She said, annoyed, “You should at least say something before standing. What if you fall?”
“I won’t,” Xu Yingran replied with a flushed face and a smile. “I’m not drunk.”
Fu Qiao didn’t believe her for a second. She turned her head and called out to Hu Mei, who was still collecting money.
“Mom, we’re heading out now.”
Hu Mei looked up and said, “Be careful on the road. Rest early when you get back. Don’t come back to help again tonight.”
“Okay!”
Fu Qiao supported Xu Yingran out of the alley. Xu Yingran’s steps were unsteady, constantly tripping over her own feet. Fu Qiao was sweating all over from supporting her and was nervous the whole way.
Even so, Xu Yingran still insisted, “I’m not drunk. Don’t hold me. I can walk by myself.”
Fu Qiao’s patience snapped. In the heat, she was drenched in sweat and now had to escort a drunk home. Frustrated, she let go and said irritably, “Fine, if you’re not drunk, take a few steps on your own. If you don’t fall, I won’t help you.”
Xu Yingran lifted her foot to step forward, but her leg gave out, and she was about to fall sideways. Fu Qiao quickly grabbed her, but ended up pinned against the wall by Xu Yingran.
*Thud—*
Fu Qiao’s heart pounded violently. She was holding Xu Yingran’s waist as they leaned against the wall, and the scent of the girl filled her nose.
Xu Yingran smelled faintly like laundry detergent—sweet and clean, very pleasant.
“Xu… Xu Yingran…” Fu Qiao panicked. She looked up at her, hands trembling from how fast her heart was beating.
Xu Yingran had her head lowered. The dim streetlight shone from above, making it hard for Fu Qiao to see her expression.
The night breeze blew gently, making her head feel even more muddled.
With a flushed face, Fu Qiao turned her head away.
“…Get up. I’ll take you home.”
“Mm… Wife, I was wrong.” Xu Yingran rested against her, arms around her waist, pressing her against the wall. She whined, “Wife, why did it take you so long to come pick me up? I only drank a little. I’m really not drunk.”
There were still quite a few people on the road. Many turned to look at them, making Fu Qiao blush even harder.
She buried her face in Xu Yingran’s shoulder and whispered, “You’ve got the wrong person. I’m not your wife.”
Upon hearing that, Xu Yingran said, “How could you not be my wife? We… we even got married.”
Fu Qiao’s face turned even redder.
“When did I marry you? Stop making things up!”
Xu Yingran wasn’t happy. Her drunken head pressed against Fu Qiao’s forehead. After staring at her for a while, she suddenly giggled.
“Wife, you’re so pretty.”
Now even Fu Qiao’s neck was red.
“Wife, don’t be mad at me,” Xu Yingran said coquettishly. “It was that woman, A-Jin, who made me drink. She even filmed a video of me saying I wouldn’t go home at nine. I was wrong, really. I promise I’ll go home before curfew from now on. I won’t drink with those random people. I’ll tell you my schedule every day. Can I please keep my allowance this month?”
Fu Qiao was totally confused. She had no idea what kind of nonsense Xu Yingran was spouting.
Xu Yingran, seeing that Fu Qiao wasn’t answering and thinking she was still angry, reached out and gently pinched Fu Qiao’s chin.
“Wife, are you really mad?” she said. “Then… then just dock my allowance. I don’t spend much anyway. I’ve got a fuel card for gas, the canteen for food, and shopping vouchers for the supermarket.”
“But you really can’t stay mad at me.” Xu Yingran whispered, “Don’t be mad. Can I give you a kiss?”
She leaned in as she spoke, scaring Fu Qiao so much that she pushed her head away.
“Mm?” Xu Yingran blinked in confusion. “Wife?”
“Who—who’s your wife?!” Fu Qiao’s brain was about to explode. She had almost been kissed by Xu Yingran just now!!!
They had known each other since they were little, even bathed together as babies. They went to kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school together. Now, all of a sudden, Xu Yingran pinned her against a wall and nearly kissed her. This left a mark on Fu Qiao’s young and fragile heart.
What kind of crazy nonsense was this drunk girl saying? Calling her wife left and right, and even trying to kiss her!
“Do you know who I am?” Fu Qiao looked at her, face burning. “Xu Yingran, look at me—am I really your wife?”
Xu Yingran blinked in confusion, then studied Fu Qiao seriously for a moment before smiling with curved eyes.
“You *are* my wife~”
