I Conquer the Entertainment Industry with My Medical Skills - Chapter 12
The two women were thrown back into their original positions.
The Panda Mask Man stood guard at the door, while the Monkey Mask Man squatted on the chair An Ningqing had occupied earlier, twirling a small knife with mesmerizing skill. He leered at them, his gaze sliding over their curves like a greasy snake.
Money versus lust.
For now, the allure of money had triumphed over sexual desire.
But as time dragged on, or if any unexpected complications arose, the scales would tip.
Then she and Xie Anran would become meat on the platter.
Xie Anran recoiled in disgust. “What are you staring at? Just wait till my brother gets the money—”
Remembering her troublesome elder brother, Xie Anran fell silent. She still wasn’t sure if these men were connected to Xie Xuanze. What if he had orchestrated this whole thing? Still, Zhuang Qingxin would definitely call the police. Hopefully, they’d find them quickly.
Suddenly noticing the unnerving silence beside her, she sighed. “Don’t worry, they’ll let us go once they get the money.”
“Shh, save your energy.”
An Ningqing was searching for a weapon. The warehouse was vast, with the kidnappers positioned three to five meters away. The only window was blocked by cloth, secured with two thin, curved steel wires. Or perhaps the ten-centimeter finger knife the Monkey Mask Man was playing with, which lay beside a set of keys.
“You’ve had too much water. You need to use the restroom.”
“There’s no restroom in this dump. It’s filthy. I’m not going.”
Seeing Xie Anran ignore her, An Ningqing bit her earlobe, nibbling lightly. A shiver ran through Xie Anran’s body, her ear and neck flushing crimson. Her earlobe was a sensitive spot. “Are you a dog?” she snapped, annoyed. “Always biting me! You’re addicted to it now.”
The Monkey Mask Man, watching them entwined, grew increasingly excited. He hadn’t seen anything like this before. He shifted his weight from foot to foot, fidgeting back and forth until he finally stood up, eager to get a clearer view of their movements.
Using her body to shield them, An Ningqing whispered in Xie Anran’s ear, “You have to go. You need to distract the man in the panda mask and stall him as long as possible. If the other three aren’t outside, they’re probably trying to get the money. If we take care of these two now, we can escape.”
Xie Anran was stunned. She never imagined An Ningqing, who had been silent all this time, was plotting their escape—and had even planned out her role so clearly.
An Ningqing pretended to kiss her cheek, her voice barely audible, her warm, orchid-scented breath brushing against Xie Anran’s face. “This is a rare opportunity. Just cooperate with me, okay?”
Xie Anran’s face flushed crimson as An Ningqing nuzzled against her, her heart pounding wildly. Whether it was the thrill of their upcoming plan or the burning sensation coursing through her veins, she couldn’t tell. “Are you sure you can handle him? The way he looks at people is truly disgusting.”
“I’ll try.”
“……”
Xie Anran vehemently disagreed, but she stood up anyway. “If things go wrong, scream for help. I’ll come back immediately.”
“I need to use the restroom. Untie me, quickly.”
“Untie you?”
“Or would you prefer I just pee here?”
Xie Anran sneered, her arrogant heiress persona fully activated. “Pee here? You think you can humiliate this young lady in a place like this, in front of all of you? Who do you think you’re embarrassing? Do you even want that two hundred million anymore?”
The Panda Mask Man immediately recalled the earlier division of the money—each of them would receive thirty to forty million, a sum he’d never seen in his life. He tugged at the Monkey Mask Man’s sleeve. “Don’t let this little thing ruin the boss’s plan. Besides, her fiancée is still here. She won’t run.”
The Monkey Mask Man glanced at the quiet, delicate An Ningqing standing nearby. “Fine. Take her outside to use the restroom, but don’t go too far.”
After speaking, he proactively untied Xie Anran’s ropes. “There’s no restroom here, Miss Xie. You’ll have to relieve yourself in the wilderness. A’Mao, take her.”
Xie Anran endured her anxiety, but couldn’t resist glancing back one last time.
An Ningqing lay casually on the haystack, as if lounging on a chaise longue. Her heart pounded with apprehension as she stepped outside to greet the fading sunlight. Dusk was rapidly approaching.
The surroundings were desolate.
No cars, no extra people—just endless weeds, some nearly waist-high.
An Ningqing had been right. For two hundred million, the three men had apparently left only these two to guard them.
Once Xie Anran and the panda-masked man were out of earshot, An Ningqing winked at the monkey-masked man. Her legs, bound tightly, felt cramped. “My legs are numb. I want to get up and walk around, Brother. Could you untie the ropes on my legs?”
She wasn’t good at seduction, but her original persona occasionally used a cutesy, high-pitched voice.
The monkey-masked man was taken aback by the little star’s unexpected flirtatiousness. As soon as her fiancée’s not around, she starts hitting on men? Well, women can’t satisfy each other like men do. He strode forward, reaching out to touch her leg. An Ningqing suppressed her nausea and disgust, rubbing her leg against his hand. “May I?”
“Of course, I’ll untie you right away, sis.”
“But don’t even think about running.”
As he crouched down to untie her, An Ningqing subtly twisted her bound hands, slipping free from the ropes with surprising ease.
The moment the ropes around her feet were loosened, the Monkey Mask Man grinned up at her. In his peripheral vision, he caught a glimpse of a fist slamming into his temple. His vision went black, and he collapsed onto An Ningqing.
She swiftly dodged, then, still wary, struck his pressure point again with all her might. Satisfied he was unconscious, she re-tied him using the same method he had used on her.
After securing him, she rubbed her wrists and retrieved the small knife from his keychain.
This knife is too dull to kill anyone.
An Ningqing left his mask untouched but pulled out his phone. She dragged the table and chair behind the slightly ajar warehouse door to wait.
“Miss Xie, are you ready?”
“Ready.”
Xie Anran deliberately shouted, “What’s the rush? Are you in a hurry to be reborn?”
The Panda Mask Man seemed to have a good temper, remaining silent despite the insult. Perhaps it was the prospect of thirty to forty million yuan that kept him calm. He pushed open the door and stepped inside, immediately spotting a figure lying in the straw pile. Without a closer look, he assumed it was still An Ningqing.
But in the next instant, he realized something was missing from the warehouse.
Before he could react to the unnatural silence, a chair came crashing down from above, aimed squarely at his head.
The burly man collapsed to the floor, bl00d gushing from his head. Still conscious, An Ningqing leaped off the table and delivered a finishing blow.
Xie Anran, who had watched the entire assault from behind the Panda Mask Man, stared wide-eyed, her eyes gleaming with excitement. Glancing at the unconscious Monkey Mask Man, she exclaimed, “You just knocked him out like that?”
An Ningqing had already prepared the ropes. “Help me tie them up.”
Xie Anran first closed the warehouse door, then yanked off the fat man’s mask before An Ningqing could stop her. “Never mind, what’s done is done. Tie them up separately, gag them, and take their phones. Hurry!”
Xie Anran picked up two grimy black rags from a corner of the warehouse and shoved them disdainfully into the men’s mouths, one for each. After stuffing them in, she sniffed her hands and gagged.
Her hands were dirty now.
Under the cover of night, the two women fled the warehouse. An Ningqing even used her phone to search for Jingdu, checking their current distance—fifteen kilometers. Running back on foot was impractical; they might even run into the three men again halfway.
She then searched for the nearest Public Security Bureau.
Only five kilometers away—not too far.
Xie Anran followed An Ningqing through the dense grass under the cloak of darkness. Watching the slender figure ahead, Xie Anran suddenly felt the moonlight tonight was particularly special.
She wasn’t idle either, calling the police and thoughtfully providing their exact location. The police responded promptly, sparing them a game of cat and mouse with the other three men. They were taken to the police station without incident, the entire process both smooth and surreal.
The two kidnappers were caught red-handed, still unconscious when their surroundings changed.
At the police station, the women notified the necessary parties one by one.
Then they gave their statements separately.
After giving her statement, Xie Anran kept her eyes fixed on An Ningqing, initially stealing glances before openly resting her head on her arm to watch her. “How did you take down that Monkey Mask Man? Have you learned some kind of martial arts? Tell me!”
An Ningqing, wrapped in a small blanket provided by a female officer, sipped her warm coffee. “It’s actually quite simple. Once you’re familiar with all the acupoints and the body’s structure, you’ll know where the weak points are.”
“Just like that? You’re not lying to me?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Xie Xuanze and Guan Lang arrived almost simultaneously. He immediately spotted his younger sister circling around An Ningqing like a puppy reunited with its favorite toy. Xie Anran’s face still wore a smile, showing no signs of shock and even seeming quite cheerful.
In contrast, An Ningqing sat quietly, composed and unhurried, radiating an air of serene detachment.
“Ranran, come here.”
“Big brother.”
The smile vanished from Xie Anran’s face. She deliberately blocked Xie Xuanze’s scrutinizing gaze, shielding An Ningqing from his scrutiny. Xie Xuanze glanced her up and down, confirmed she was unharmed, and turned to leave without a word.
After saying goodbye to An Ningqing, Xie Anran spotted Guan Lang and her anger flared. “What’s wrong with you as an agent? I told you to get her a car—did you do it?”
“Ranran, aren’t you leaving yet?”
“Coming.”
Xie Anran glared fiercely at Guan Lang, as if promising retribution later. But Xie Xuanze was urging her on, so she hurried away.
The car had driven a long distance, the atmosphere inside frozen solid. Xie Anran remained silent, while Xie Xuanze’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. Just as she was drifting off to sleep, he finally spoke, “You’ve grown bold, recklessly offering yourself up like that. Do you even know who those people were? How could you charge in without thinking?”
He had seen the footage from nearby security cameras and the car’s dashcam.
Xie Xuanze smashed his phone in fury.
“Mom and Dad already know about your kidnapping. They’ve cut their vacation short and will be home tomorrow. Have you thought about how you’re going to explain this?”
“Explain what?”
“Explain how you risked your life for some minor celebrity.”
