I Don't Want to Be the Villainess Anymore - Chapter 100
Rong Xi subconsciously sped up her shower routine, sensing that something might happen if she didn’t.
“Why the sudden rush?”
Rong Xi shot a wary glance at Qin Yuzhen.
“I wasn’t looking at you, I just heard the water.”
“How did you know I was looking at you?” Rong Xi frowned slightly.
“What else is there to look at in this bathroom besides me? The toilet?” Qin Yuzhen laughed.
Rong Xi: “…”
Rong Xi: That made so much sense she didn’t even know how to argue back.
“It’s fine if you look. We’re both girls, and you’re my girlfriend.”
“No.” Rong Xi shook her head. “I… I’m shy.”
“Weren’t you a lot thicker-skinned before? Why the sudden change?”
“My skin has always been thin.”
“The fact that you can say that proves it isn’t.”
Rong Xi didn’t want to talk to Qin Yuzhen anymore and huffed lightly. “Even when we first met, you loved teasing me. And you still do. It’s only because I’m good-tempered that I put up with you.”
“Ah, having a little sister is the best. So tolerant of me.”
Rong Xi changed into her pajamas and patted Qin Yuzhen’s head twice. “I’m done showering. Let’s go.”
“So fast. Did you even wash properly?”
“I did!” Rong Xi glared, slightly annoyed. “I shower every day—it’s not like I’m dirty. Or are you disgusted by me? Do I need to scrub my skin off?”
Qin Yuzhen: “…”
“See, now that you’re dressed, you’ve got the confidence to talk back.” Qin Yuzhen chuckled, standing up to move the chair out.
Rong Xi, trailing behind her, flushed red.
“Be serious.”
“I’ve always been serious.” Qin Yuzhen set the chair aside and glanced back at Rong Xi with a mischievous grin. “You don’t have to be this guarded against me…”
“Little sister, you’re breaking my heart. You’d better explain yourself, or you might lose me.”
System: “I think the odds of you losing Rong Xi are higher.”
Rong Xi: “…”
She took a deep breath. “I can’t win against you. I surrender.”
“Want some water?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
“I want milk tea.”
“You don’t want to sleep tonight?” Qin Yuzhen raised an eyebrow.
Rong Xi nodded. “It’s only ten, and I’ve never pulled an all-nighter before. I want to try it.”
“And then your sleep schedule will be ruined.” Qin Yuzhen climbed onto the bed and leaned against Rong Xi. “So, what do you want to do?”
Rong Xi thought for a moment. “I don’t know.”
“You don’t even know what you want to do?”
Rong Xi nodded. “I think I’ve studied myself stupid…”
“You’re not stupid. Not at all.” Qin Yuzhen wasn’t sure either. “Let’s look it up.”
Rong Xi frowned. “This feels really unreliable.”
What to do with your girlfriend at night.
Rong Xi leaned over, took one glance, and immediately turned her head away.
“See? I knew it’d be unreliable.” She exhaled sharply. “Close it, close it. Why are you still looking?”
Qin Yuzhen glanced at Rong Xi, then back at the screen. “I can honestly say I didn’t expect that.”
Rong Xi: “…”
“Little sister, seems like you know a lot, huh?”
Rong Xi: !!!
“Not everyone’s as old-fashioned as you,” she muttered, slowly burrowing under the covers.
Qin Yuzhen frowned as she watched Rong Xi, who was now only showing the top of her head beside her.
She glanced back at the webpage.
Chu Can: I saw your interview. It’s a miracle you haven’t been beaten to death yet.
Chu Can: Not coming out to play even after the college entrance exams?
Qin Yuzhen: I’m not exactly a typical high school student, and I am out—I’m with Rong Xi.
Chu Can: You two are together, right?
Qin Yuzhen: Yeah.
Chu Can: Tsk tsk tsk, I knew it.
Chu Can: So, what are you two doing tonight?
Qin Yuzhen: Dunno.
Chu Can: Tsk tsk tsk. Let me show you something good.
Qin Yuzhen: ?
Chu Can: Even though you look older, you’re still only eighteen.
Qin Yuzhen: What sin did I commit to be attacked about my age twice in five minutes?
She already knew what Chu Can was hinting at the moment she sent the message. Though she had no experience in this area, she wasn’t stupid.
But when Chu Can sent it over, Qin Yuzhen still pretended not to understand and clicked on it.
Rong Xi, hiding under the covers, listened to the sounds outside and grew increasingly uneasy. Finally, she couldn’t resist popping her head out.
“What are you looking at?!” Rong Xi’s face was bright red, her words slightly stuttered.
Qin Yuzhen glanced at her. “Chu Can sent it to me. Said I should study it carefully.”
Rong Xi: “…”
Rong Xi peeked at Qin Yuzhen’s phone, her face flushing even deeper. When she looked back at Qin Yuzhen, only her ears were slightly red—otherwise, she seemed completely unfazed.
Honestly, Rong Xi felt her own face was way too thin-skinned.
“If you want to look, just look. No need to be shy.”
“I don’t want to.” Rong Xi pinched Qin Yuzhen’s thigh. “And you shouldn’t either.”
“I’m just studying.” Qin Yuzhen caught Rong Xi’s hand.
“You’re making me… feel weird.” Rong Xi bit her lip.
Qin Yuzhen watched her for a moment, then turned off her phone and leaned in close. “Let me kiss you.”
Rong Xi: “…”
She couldn’t understand Qin Yuzhen. Normally, she barged into her room without knocking, yet now she acted all polite. If she wanted to kiss her, she should just do it—Rong Xi wouldn’t refuse. She knew Rong Xi was embarrassed, yet she still had to ask.
But Qin Yuzhen didn’t get it. She wanted to wait for Rong Xi’s answer—after all, teasing her girlfriend was just too fun.
Rong Xi clenched her fists, made up her mind, and suddenly leaned forward, wrapping her arms around Qin Yuzhen’s neck. She moved too forcefully, accidentally bumping their teeth together. Wincing in pain, she tried to pull back, but Qin Yuzhen held the back of her head and licked the spot where Rong Xi had bitten her lip.
Rong Xi grabbed Qin Yuzhen’s hair—not on purpose, but she needed something to hold onto.
Though Rong Xi had to admit Qin Yuzhen was amazing at everything, she couldn’t deny one hard truth: Qin Yuzhen was terrible at kissing! Even though Rong Xi had never kissed anyone else before, she could still confidently declare Qin Yuzhen’s skills lacking.
But strangely, the longer they kissed, the better it felt—though she was starting to run out of breath.
Guess smart people learn fast at everything.
“What are you thinking about?” Qin Yuzhen touched Rong Xi’s hand, still tangled in her hair. “You look like you’ve drifted off somewhere.”
“You’re bad at this,” Rong Xi blurted out.
Qin Yuzhen: ???
“What did I do to deserve that?”
Rong Xi: “…”
“Slip of the tongue, just a slip of the tongue!” Rong Xi watched Qin Yuzhen’s rapidly changing expression, grabbed her hand, and shook it gently. “Sister, I’m sleepy. Let’s talk about anything else tomorrow, okay?”
“Little sister, not everything can be solved by acting cute. What were you thinking just now?” Qin Yuzhen smiled sweetly, her voice gentle and her expression bright, yet Rong Xi still took a step back.
“It’s just that your kissing skills aren’t great…” Rong Xi said. “That’s all I meant.”
“Then let’s practice more.”
The system had long since blocked out the two of them. It had never imagined it would one day witness such an inappropriate scene. Though it was just an emotionless machine, it still felt a bit flushed.
Rong Xi had no idea how many times she ended up calling Qin Yuzhen “dear sister” before she was finally let off the hook. Under pressure, she even had to shower Qin Yuzhen with compliments she never wanted to recall for the rest of her life.
“Was it fun, little sister?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
Rong Xi didn’t want to answer.
Qin Yuzhen wrapped her arm around Rong Xi’s waist, and Rong Xi gave up struggling.
The two of them slept straight until ten the next morning. When Rong Xi woke up, she instinctively touched her lips, expecting them to be swollen, but to her surprise, they looked almost normal—probably thanks to whatever Qin Yuzhen had done.
Qin Yuzhen’s arm was still draped over her waist, and she was sound asleep.
“Qin Yuzhen, it’s ten o’clock.”
“Qin Yuzhen, it’s ten. Wake up, stop sleeping.”
“I’m so hungry, sister.”
After calling out for a while with no response, Rong Xi paused, then tried to prop herself up to check on Qin Yuzhen—only for the arm around her waist to tighten.
“Let’s sleep a little longer. Don’t call me, I’m right here.”
Rong Xi: “…”
“You know I… get scared.”
“Still half-asleep, mind foggy. Sleeping next to you feels nice.” Qin Yuzhen soothingly ruffled Rong Xi’s hair.
By the time Qin Yuzhen finally seemed ready to stop, Rong Xi was pretty sure her hair resembled a bird’s nest.
They didn’t get out of bed until eleven.
As Rong Xi watched the freshly washed Qin Yuzhen—now looking perfectly composed, nothing like the shameless creature from last night—she couldn’t help but stare.
“Are you staring because you want me to kiss you?”
Rong Xi covered her mouth. “I’m hungry. I want to eat. My family just messaged me—they’re throwing a birthday party for… us in a few days.”
“Are you going?” Rong Xi asked.
“Yes.” Qin Yuzhen replied. After all, there was an important plot point waiting there.
Rong Xi blinked. In the past, she would’ve been thrilled if Qin Yuzhen agreed to go, but now all she felt was worry.
“What’s with that look? Don’t want me there? I’m going as your birthday guest, not as part of the Rong family.”
“I’m afraid you’ll be upset again,” Rong Xi said.
Qin Yuzhen tousled her hair.
“Even if you don’t ask, I’ve been thinking about the choice between you and the Rong family.” Rong Xi knew very well that if she chose Qin Yuzhen, she’d likely sever ties with the Rongs.
But cutting off the family that had raised her for so many years wasn’t something she could do easily. These emotions reminded her that she was a living person, not just a character controlled by a book’s plot.
“I’ll find a way to convince them…” Rong Xi said, smiling at Qin Yuzhen.
Qin Yuzhen looked at Rong Xi, rubbed her fingers together, and then tousled her hair.
