I Don't Want to Be the Villainess Anymore - Chapter 104
Qin Yuzhen randomly chose physics as her major. The two acceptance letters arrived at the same time, and after receiving them, they stacked the letters together, took a photo, and posted it on Weibo.
Though they didn’t say anything, everyone who saw the post felt like they had just been force-fed a mountain of dog food.
The Rong family had been waiting for Rong Xi to contact them, but after a month—during which Rong Xi trended on Weibo several times—they still hadn’t received a single call from her.
During her free time, Rong Xi did occasionally think about her family. But ever since Qin Yuzhen took her to the lab, she no longer had the energy to dwell on them.
Wasn’t studying more fun? Why waste time on trivial matters?
Though they had bought a house, once the lab became operational, the two of them mostly stayed there, living in the lab’s dormitory.
Qin Yuzhen finally understood—she didn’t hate dorm life; she just disliked any place without Rong Xi.
The system, overhearing Qin Yuzhen’s thoughts, felt its circuits sizzle from the sweetness.
“We’ve established seamless communication with the system space,” the system interrupted Qin Yuzhen’s musings. “The passage is almost complete. You should be able to return soon.”
“Oh.” Qin Yuzhen responded flatly. “Is there any way to take Rong Xi with me?”
“No,” the system said.
“Fine.” Qin Yuzhen sighed and pulled Rong Xi closer into her arms.
S University’s semester started slightly earlier, with two weeks of military training. When Rong Xi heard this, her entire mood plummeted. Qin Yuzhen, however, remained unfazed.
“Bring sunscreen,” Qin Yuzhen said. “Your stamina isn’t great—you could use the exercise.”
Rong Xi looked at Qin Yuzhen. “Isn’t there something that can keep me from getting tanned?”
“There is.” Qin Yuzhen raised an eyebrow. “Act cute, kiss me twice, and I’ll consider it.”
Rong Xi: “…”
She glanced at Qin Yuzhen. “I just wanted a tiny favor… Is this what you call loving me? Sister, I really don’t feel it at all.”
Qin Yuzhen chuckled helplessly, wrapping an arm around Rong Xi’s waist and pulling her onto her lap.
“I just wanted an excuse for you to kiss me. You never do it otherwise.”
Rong Xi stared into Qin Yuzhen’s eyes. “If I kiss you any more, my lips are going to wear out.”
“It’s not that bad.”
“It is that bad.” Rong Xi looped her arms around Qin Yuzhen’s neck. “I really don’t want to do military training. It’s so sunny.”
“You can’t skip it. Stop dreaming—even I can’t get out of it.”
Rong Xi sighed.
Though Qin Yuzhen and Rong Xi lived off-campus, they still kept dorm rooms at the university as a backup. Since they were in different schools, their dorms were practically on opposite ends of the campus. At least they were in the same district—if they weren’t, it would’ve been a nightmare.
On the first day of school, the campus was packed. Qin Yuzhen and Rong Xi finished their registration and left without lingering. Despite that, photos of them holding hands were uploaded to the school forum that same day, and their Weibo fan community quickly compiled them.
Qin Yuzhen saved all the well-taken photos.
“People take more photos of us than we do ourselves.”
“Who says? I’ve taken tons of photos of you.” Qin Yuzhen opened her album and casually scrolled through them.
Rong Xi: “???”
“When did you take this?” Rong Xi tried to snatch it back but was no match for Qin Yuzhen, quickly being pinned down on the bed.
“Just snapped it casually,” Qin Yuzhen replied.
Rong Xi took a deep breath. “Couldn’t you at least find a better angle?”
“I think you look good from every angle,” Qin Yuzhen said.
Rong Xi rolled her eyes so hard they nearly disappeared. “I’m going to write this down in my little notebook.”
“And then what?” Qin Yuzhen pinched Rong Xi’s waist. “How are you going to punish me?”
Rong Xi: “…”
“I can ignore you.”
“Alright, good luck with that.”
Rong Xi: ???
“I think you’re looking down on me,” Rong Xi said. “And I have proof.”
Qin Yuzhen kissed Rong Xi’s cheek.
Rong Xi stayed silent.
Qin Yuzhen poked her waist, but Rong Xi still didn’t speak.
“We have to gather on the school field at seven tomorrow morning. I think it’d be easier to just stay on campus during training,” Qin Yuzhen said.
Rong Xi remained silent.
Qin Yuzhen slid her hand under Rong Xi’s clothes.
“Qin Yuzhen!”
“Alright, punishment’s over. Let’s go eat.”
Rong Xi: !!!
During dinner, Qin Yuzhen tried several times to start a conversation, but Rong Xi ignored her. At bedtime, Rong Xi turned her back to her, leaving Qin Yuzhen slightly exasperated.
“You don’t even tan anyway,” Qin Yuzhen said.
“Hmph.”
“Come on, don’t be mad.” Qin Yuzhen kissed Rong Xi’s cheek again.
Rong Xi turned around but still didn’t speak, though she inched closer.
The next morning, both woke up a little after five. Qin Yuzhen had said Rong Xi wouldn’t tan, so Rong Xi didn’t bother with sunscreen.
“Is there any way I can stay cool under the blazing sun?” Rong Xi asked.
“Wake up, the whole point is to toughen you up,” Qin Yuzhen said, patting Rong Xi’s head.
Rong Xi sighed.
“Let’s go.” Qin Yuzhen led her to the garage.
“When did you buy a car? And get a license?” Rong Xi asked curiously.
“It’s Chu Can’s car,” Qin Yuzhen said. “I’d never buy something this flashy. Besides, something as important as a car should be bought together with you.”
Rong Xi smiled, satisfied.
By the time they reached the field, many students had already gathered. It took them a while to find their class.
Qin Yuzhen spotted a few familiar faces—Huo Yaoxu, Liang Xuzhou, and some girls she’d met during competitions.
“What a coincidence,” Qin Yuzhen said with a grin.
Liang Xuzhou looked grim. “If I’d known you’d pick this major, I would’ve chosen anything else.”
“Sorry, but I don’t even attend classes. I just pass the exams,” Qin Yuzhen said. “I’m busy making millions every minute—who has time to deal with you?”
As she spoke, she waved at a girl nearby who was looking her way.
“Rong Xi’s right here,” Liang Xuzhou remarked dryly.
“I’m just saying hi to a classmate. Look at your dirty mind,” Qin Yuzhen retorted.
Before the teacher arrived, Qin Yuzhen had already added every classmate on WeChat—who knew which of them might join her team and work for her someday?
Liang Xuzhou could tell exactly what she was thinking from her expression and smile.
Damn capitalist.
At 6:50, the instructor arrived and had everyone line up to wait for the opening ceremony. The student representative for the opening ceremony was Rong Xi, while Qin Yuzhen had been the student speaker at the school’s opening assembly.
When Rong Xi stepped onto the stage, someone in the audience suddenly shouted, startling her. She was already a bit nervous, and now she felt even more tense.
The number of students in a single university grade was larger than the entire student body of her previous high school.
Rong Xi took a few seconds to calm herself before starting her speech, which went relatively smoothly.
Qin Yuzhen narrowed her eyes and used a system card to get a clear look at Rong Xi’s face. She then quietly pulled out her phone and, with the help of another card, managed to snap a few photos.
“Quite the bold little troublemaker, aren’t you? I told you not to move, yet you still pull out your phone?” The instructor had somehow appeared behind Qin Yuzhen without her noticing.
Qin Yuzhen: “…”
“System???”
“You didn’t ask me to activate the low-presence card,” the system replied.
Listening to the system’s smug tone, Qin Yuzhen snapped one last photo before stuffing her phone back into her pocket.
“Sorry, Instructor. My girlfriend’s speaking at her first university event—I couldn’t resist taking a picture.”
“Don’t apologize. Just run two laps later.”
“Got it.” Qin Yuzhen nodded, her peripheral vision catching a few people turning their heads nearby. “Instructor, those two guys over there turned around to laugh at me. They also ignored your orders.”
“Which two?”
“The third from the right in the second-to-last row and the first in the very last row,” Qin Yuzhen said.
Liang Xuzhou and Huo Yaoxu: Thanks a lot.
And so, on the very first day of military training, the three of them were rewarded with penalty laps.
One lap was 400 meters, two laps 800—not too much. By the time they started running, everyone else was already standing and listening to the instructor’s speech.
Rong Xi watched Qin Yuzhen, her mind full of question marks.
How does someone get penalized on the very first day of school?
By the time Qin Yuzhen finished her two laps, Liang Xuzhou still had 200 meters left, and Huo Yaoxu was a full lap behind.
“You’re done already?”
“Done.” Qin Yuzhen wasn’t even out of breath. “I could do three kilometers like this too.”
Instructor: “…”
“Kid, you sure talk big.”
“Instructor, I never lie.”
“Alright, go back.”
When Liang Xuzhou finally returned, he was panting heavily.
“How can you not even outrun a little girl?”
“Instructor, that’s Qin Yuzhen—she’s not even human,” Liang Xuzhou said, clutching his legs.
“Oh, so that’s Qin Yuzhen.” The instructor craned his neck for a better look.
Liang Xuzhou: “…”
For the rest of the morning’s training, the instructor paid extra attention to Qin Yuzhen. But no matter how hard he looked, he couldn’t find a single flaw in her performance—she moved like she’d walked straight out of a military camp.
During the break, Qin Yuzhen went to the store and bought two bottles of water before heading to where Rong Xi was sitting.
“Drink.” She tossed a bottle to her. “Knew you’d be too lazy to get one yourself.”
Rong Xi sat on the ground. “I’m exhausted. Aren’t you tired?”
“Don’t feel a thing.” Qin Yuzhen sat down beside her.
“Why did you get penalized?”
“Couldn’t resist taking pictures while you were speaking,” Qin Yuzhen admitted.
Rong Xi: “…”
Rong Xi: Of all the reasons, I never expected this one.
A few nearby girls giggled when they overheard. Rong Xi, already flushed, turned even redder.
“What about Liang Xuzhou and that other guy?”
“Oh, they laughed at me, so I tattled,” Qin Yuzhen said.
“Classic you.”
“Tsk, but these two have such poor physical fitness, especially Huo Yaoxu. Let’s hope they don’t collapse in the lab,” Qin Yuzhen remarked.
Rong Xi: …
“I think the lab should organize morning exercises for everyone,” Qin Yuzhen suggested.
“You’ve just extinguished any desire I had to join your lab,” Rong Xi replied matter-of-factly.
